661  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much can u lose with gambling? on: April 17, 2017, 04:27:03 AM
It is extremely easy to lose all of your bankroll with gambling. Without enough self control, you can go on tilt after a tough loss causing you to wager more than you normally would and you might go broke doing so.
662  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lost 10 BTC in three days. Should I end my life? on: April 17, 2017, 04:25:11 AM
I know the feeling and have lost way too much many times. Just don't try to recover with your remaining BTC as you will likely only dig a deeper hole. In these cases, it is usually best to just cut your losses and walk away or you will end up losing everything.
663  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: April 17, 2017, 04:18:25 AM
Plowed back through (very quickly) to see if there was a working windows binary with support for compressed keys but couldn't find anything.

No reason (especially nowadays) to NOT use compressed keys to save a few bytes.

TIA!

There are some forks that support compressed keys (such as ExploitAgency's), although I've run into CPU / GPU hash mismatch errors when attempting compressed key generation using the modified oclvanitygen.
664  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is mining?? on: April 17, 2017, 04:11:25 AM
Hello
I have no idea about mining! What is mining, and how its work?
i will lock this thread after getting the reply.
Thanks in advanced

Check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmOzih6I1zs which describes bitcoin mining and how it works.

Generally, this won't be profitable unless you have dedicated mining hardware and cheap electricity.
665  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's the appropriate way to sell gift card in this forum? on: April 17, 2017, 04:07:32 AM
Yeah, I definitely recommend using a site such as Paxful or similar that handles the escrowing for you. If you do decide to do a sale on the forums, you'll want to ensure you have a trustworthy escrow to avoid scams.
666  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Uploaded by electrum on: April 17, 2017, 04:04:52 AM
I have 45,000 satoshis and I try to make a sending. But electrum tells me: insufficient funds at any number

It will take quite some time for a transaction of that size to confirm as the fee will be very low. If you want to proceed with a less than ideal fee, you can enable manual fees by disabling Dynamic Fees in the options. However, in general sending transactions with this small of a value isn't recommended.
667  Economy / Gambling / Re: BITDICE CASINO - GET YOUR CUT FROM DAILY TREASURE CHEST! on: April 17, 2017, 04:02:47 AM
Alex, can we have a RoaMap about the planned updates ? or at least a To-Do list of what is yet to be made ?
I was nice to receive the newsletter, i though there wasn't, at least bitdice isn't as annoying as other sites.

They just added a bunch of new slot games but I think they are still working out the bugs with it.

I suppose roulette is probably the next game to come but not sure how long until that comes out.
668  Economy / Exchanges / Re: The easiest way USD -> BTC? on: April 15, 2017, 05:48:28 PM
What is the best and the most cost efficient way to buy BTC with USD credit/debit card?
I'm not conserned do much about privacy, but would like to avoid wire transfer.

Using services such as CoinBase or LocalBitcoins is probably one of the easier ways. You may get a better rate with CoinBase. You could also check to see if there are any Bitcoin ATMs in your area.
669  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: GAMBLING & TRADING on: April 15, 2017, 03:51:22 AM
You will just lose money if you gamble, even if you win, you will play more and more and lost more than you even won. The only profitable way with gambling is having you own gamble site or casino, but you need a big capital. Trading is safe, but you need knowledge, too. But you only lose the difference from buy price and sell price and in gambling you lose it all. So, overal, trading is much, much better.

Trading can still be a gamble. I wouldn't call it safe. No one knows what the markets will do and you can lose money quickly with trading as well. It probably is a bit better than gambling though, but still a risk.
670  Other / Off-topic / Re: Payment Batch Number on: April 14, 2017, 08:06:49 PM
Hi!!

Some sites provide batch id number like:

CWBD18TYTCPBRHDA0BNDZEIMP2
CWBD2QQ9H7HZWJNCXMTHPKOMXP

Where can I find information about these transactions?   Huh Huh

I didn't find in common block searches.   Undecided

Thanks!!

These aren't bitcoin transactions. Perhaps they are internal order numbers or something? If so, they would only be visible on the site itself.

We'd need more information to be able to determine more.
671  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Transaction not confirmed: what to do? on: April 14, 2017, 07:28:48 PM
Hello everybody  Smiley

yesterday I made a transaction using my Electrum wallet:

https://blockchain.info/tx/66cca8934cc94cfb86bed7fd44cefddaefac4e0d64b1db75f157248943124e72

I did pay about 100satoshi/byte (the maximal fee suggested by Electrum) and yet the transaction has not been confirmed after more than 24h!

How is this possible? Huh Is it really a matter of fees or there might be other problems? If the fee is not enough, why does Electrum suggest only fees that are not sufficient for having quick transactions?

How long does it take, typically, for the transaction to get removed from the network (i.e., for getting the money back?)
If it is more than 24-36h I might have to find other solutions.

I read that one can attempt a double spend by reinstalling Electrum and restoring from seed... But I'd like to avoid such 'hacks' if possible.
Also because I'm not sure I can set up fees higher than the maximum (100Sat/Byte) in Electrum...

Any suggestions?

thanks

 Grin

100sat/byte is too small for the current network congestion. I recommend enabling the Dynamic Fees option in Electrum that will allow you to send more than 100sat/byte and should automatically estimate appropriate fees. Make sure that you are on the latest version of Electrum to ensure the fees are working as they should.

Give http://viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/ a shot and you can help push this transaction through a bit quicker than just waiting.
672  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanity Pool - vanity address generator pool on: April 12, 2017, 09:09:22 PM
The Vanity Pool sends payments with quite low fees due to the network requiring higher fees now. A recent payment used 44.444 sat/byte.

Any possibility in bumping up the fee a bit to make confirmations faster for these transactions?

674  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: WTF is this? Someone found a trick for fast mining? (part II) on: April 12, 2017, 03:00:38 PM
Tell me something you geniuses, what happens when someone finds an unlimited power source and then deploy 800,000 of the best miners available and starts mining without worrying about the energy costs? someone found a way to profit more than others by mining more efficiently and now you are asking why and are bu*t hurt?  important thing is that they contributed the required computational power by the algorithm and besides the algorithm was there from the start publicly available unless bitmain developed the mining algorithm and implemented a back door in it? I don't think so. as always there will be hand above hands meaning there will always be someone smarter, accept the fact and move on because no crime were committed here.

Well, the only issue is that they are actively pushing against Segwit softfork due to the fact that it will mess up their AsicBoost and were wanting to hardfork instead.

https://medium.com/@WhalePanda/asicboost-the-reason-why-bitmain-blocked-segwit-901fd346ee9f was a pretty good read about this.
675  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Transaction Fees on: April 12, 2017, 01:51:53 PM
Yeah and the fee is based on the size of the transaction and number of inputs. In general, you will save on fees if you send to multiple addresses at the same time.

If you are curious on the sizing of fees for a transaction, https://bitcoinfees.21.co/ is a good resource for what fees should be used for quick confirms.
676  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Price 1200 USD Means - Bitcoin Mining Is Profitable, Even For Beginners on: April 12, 2017, 01:26:17 PM
Bitcoin have price over 1000 USD for some time, so BTC current price around 1200 USD means, it is good time for Bitcoin mining. Either through own hardware mining ASIC equipment or cloud mining. See latest BTC price here http://preev.com/.
If you can get low electricity price probably solar power and nice coolers for your Asic equipment? I think now should be the best time to mining bitcoin profitably. Though you may not be able to mining bitcoin profitable without cloud mining because of the current demands for bitcoin you can mining altcoins for more return.

Cheap or free electricity certainly makes mining look attractive, but if you don't have access to cheap electricity, it will still likely be hard to turn a profit via mining bitcoin.
677  Economy / Gambling / Re: BITDICE CASINO - GET YOUR CUT FROM DAILY TREASURE CHEST! on: April 12, 2017, 05:13:32 AM
I logged in with my Bitdice account and I saw the Daily Treasure Chest . I open my daily treasure chest and I got this :

Seems better luck next time to me Grin.

This is really great addition, it makes the player to look forward for another day to open the chest and see what awaits us.  I hope I will get lucky next time  Smiley

Well that's pretty unlucky to be honest mate Grin

I wish Alex can actually say "Better luck next time" instead of put 0 Tokens. I mean it's just depressing to be honest to see something tokens and then realise that something was zero... Cheesy

I believe you need at least level 1 to get anything from the treasure chests. So level up and start claiming Smiley
678  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Wallet 2.8.2 on: April 12, 2017, 03:03:11 AM
Thank you for the prompt response...I never used this program before. I never set up an initial password of any type, that why I do not understand what could have happened...What do I do??? I am STILL faced with the same problem.  I hope to hear from someone who can actually provide some assistance. No offense to anyone.
Is there any other cold computer-based wallet I can download quickly???

Did you try leaving the "Current Password" box empty and only setting a "New" password. This would probably work if there is no password on the wallet.

If you have no funds in the wallet, you could also always try creating a new wallet via File -> New/Restore
679  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie Question: Growing small amount of BTC? on: April 12, 2017, 02:38:50 AM
Its gonna be quite hard to grow up from such as small amount. Not impossible, but will definitely take some time.

There also are some sites that allow you to do things to earn bitcoin such as surveys or filling out captchas if that is something you would be interested in doing to help grow your stash. If you have services or skills to offer, you could also try trading them for bitcoin.
680  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Wallet 2.8.2 on: April 11, 2017, 08:15:49 PM
HI

I just tried to setup the latest version (2.8.2 for windows Standard) of Electrum Wallet. I wanted to set a password. I clicked on the wallet tab, then the
password tab. A box opened which allows me to insert a password, new password, and to confirm password. I never established a password. So consequently,
I typed in my only password in all three places. Then I got a "Invalid Password" error message. How do I solve this issue, Please help!!!!

I hope to hear from you really soon.....

Is this a new wallet or are you reusing an older wallet? It should only prompt you for a password if you added a password on the wallet. I believe the initial setup wizard asks if you want to password protect the wallet though, so you have may enabled one via that when setting up the wallet.
