When i 1st heard about Bitcoin in the past, i really thought they would use it as a token for the utorrent or other torrents. It has been while since the project started.
Is there any significant updates?
No there are no significants updates to report, the dev promises us features then goes silent for months on end and fails to deliver. I personally don't think he has the skills to pull this project off. If you are thinking about buying in, don't go too deep, there are better and more deserving projects out there than this one. LBC is about to release it's open beta, that should do well. LBC is basically a sham of a p2p project. They say they are p2p, yet everything is controlled by a company, which has shareholders, directors and corporate policies. They can takedown any material they want, at will. Which is fine. But don't go claiming to be a p2p project. So they are left with saying they are an alternative to Youtube. How many alternatives to youtube have actually managed to survive? Practically none. |

I just worked out that VTR is one of the most profitable coins to mine A few 1.1 VTR's each day means you can ROI GPU in about 12 months, but all you need is a cheap or used laptop. So you can buy a GPU mine other coins and use the cheap laptop to get daily VTR payouts, which will pay for your GPU. Sell other coins, buy VTR, repeat  |

myself and a couple of my friends just took pretty big positions in VTR.
this project could be banged out in a couple of months tops by a developer or a team of skilled developers; not 2 years.
to do list:
zcash for anonymity
actual bittorrent functionality
so far it looks like just a wallet for the vrt token
this is a very promising project but it needs to be finished
PM me. don't be afraid to ask for help. it's time to get this thing rolled out and finalized within the next few months, and that's when the ad buys can start for widespread adoption.
$0.30 is cheap right now all things considered, but this isn't a one man task. respectfully, 2 years have confirmed that.
this isn't vaporware, it's a looming juggernaut. let's get to work.

how do I setup the network to sync, I tried the method in eightspaces youtube videos but you have to be a premium member to even access see the network nodes, So I came here to ask about that and find new nodes listec but it still doesn't sync my vtorrent.conf looks like this

Dear all,
This project is indeed still being actively developed.
Due to nature of BitTorrent sharing, we have been experimenting with the possibility of migrating ZEC's zero-knowledge to VTR core to improve users anonymity and try to do without needing of reseting the current chain.
vTorrent 0.9.1z will be the first version to incorporate the zero-knowledge protocol and if resetting the chain is needed, there could possibly be a fork of vTorrent-Classic running by community keeping the 0.8.x chain.
There are some other plan along with this new chain, which is still being in discussion in our team.

Allocate 5% or 10% stake to JoyStream.
The Classic chain is a bonus to everyone already in vTorrent, so this would be a good incentive for JoyStream devs or their shareholders.

The problem and the tech which is going to be tackled with vTorrent is huge and complex. I think we can assume that the Dev-Team is very small. And I think we can assume that it`s more like a side-project rather than a full-time job. Forking makes absolutely no sense. I highly doubt that anybody of us is technically capable and/or willing to put a substantial part of our free-time into the project. We really need to be more patient. Just treat your purchase into VTR as an investment. There is no overnight route to richness.
I trust that the team is continuously working on improvements and an alpha version with Bittorrent functionality will be realised soon. Beside virtual money transfer that would be the first B2C application in the blockchain ecosystem. That will be huge.
Let`s not freak out about Dev being unresponsive or not sharing enough info. I am sure that will change once they feel that they have a great product to market. Let`s keep our fingers crossed that the next release will be soon. The current blockchain environment would be really beneficial and investments are likely to flow into the project.
Well stated. Unfortunately we have some impatient children in this forum who think that bullying the dev team will somehow motivate them to be more communicative, perhaps hyping the price to their greedy expectations. They need to grow up and wait for a working wallet or move on. This software has the potential to save file sharing as we know it. I hodl because I want to USE the product, not speculate on the price. There are plenty of shitcoins for that purpose. The guy is deceitful, plain and simple. We were expecting torrents on the chain over a year ago, but he released 2FA, we asked him when we would get torrents and he posted two hard fork dates, we all assumed that the second fork would be the one where it goes live, he knew it wasn't but he kept quiet, like I said deceitful. What about the fact he promised us a new wallet in December in two weeks, lol that was a big joke, again deceitful. I agree that the communication could be better. But I still think he is a very good coder believing in the project and still sticking to the original vision of this project. He is definitely not deceitful. If he would be he could have easily used the crypto hype over the last weeks to make false promises and fraudulent claims to get vTorrent into a high double-digit Million market cap. But he did not. He could have hyped the project to well over $50m, but instead he shut down hype. Not exactly the sort of thing a scammer would do, so he is just not very talkative, which as we all know given the price being kept so low is a new bread of dev: anti-hype anti-scammer anti-empty promises tbh, he could do with going on the same course as purevidz and getting a rocket up his ass on the comms front. |

Maybe the dev bought already, in which case he might post. Watch his sell walls. A community needs to form around the devs. It doesn't look like they are going to change and suddenly become engaged. They have been working on the technical side and that is great, because it looks very promising especially the use of Transmission which removes the technical risks from the future of the project as it is already an open source development project in its own right. |
