This is huge. There has only ever been 1 halving in Bitcoin's history and the chart is clear what happened to the price immediately after. The big difference now and then though is that Bitcoiners are smarter now then they were then.

665  Economy / Economics / The $1 Million Dollar Bitcoin on: October 11, 2015, 09:50:25 AM
For 1 Bitcoin to be worth $1,000,000, the total market cap of Bitcoin would have to be $21 trillion dollars. What are the odds of this happening?

For reference, the amount of physical $dollars and coins in circulation are around $1.2 trillion. The global M2 money supply of all currencies are around $45 trillion. The market cap of all mined gold is around $7 trillion.

Will 1 Bitcoin be worth a million dollars? Half a million? Thoughts?
666  Economy / Speculation / Re: Your opinions on the halving HERE on: October 11, 2015, 05:47:07 AM
The price will be swinging rapidly around the halving. But over a long span of time, the supply being cut in half will have a positive impact on price if demand remains the same.

I made a reasonable post in Fakhoury's bullish thread and he deleted it. He attempts to shut up anyone who challenges his perfect little fantasy world that he constructs around himself.
669  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many bitcoins do I need to retire in 20 years? on: October 06, 2015, 03:03:15 AM
Lets say I want to buy bitcoins today and store them for 20 years to use a my retirement fund.  Live comfortably, but don't need to buy a yacht or anything.  How many do you think I would need to buy?

Just some coins not a lot but just enough maybe 10 it is enough to survive for twenty years.

Different people say different things.
My predictions on bitcoin price:
After 20 years, one bitcoin worth will be one million dollars. But one million dollars in 2036 would buy what 100k dollars buy in 2016. So, if you need one million of current buying worth in your retirement then you may need 10 bitcoins.
My calculations are based one 1BTC = 1 Million in 2036. May be 1BTC would worth 10 million at that also. But we can expect surely 1 Million or around to it by 2036 or 2040.

So in other words, you think 1 bitcoin will be worth $100,000. We get how inflation works.

Why do I have to vote to get 'my guy' in office? I don't want to force 'my guy' on you and I don't want you to force your guy on me. Why do I have to get the approval of the collective to be free?

Because unfortunately that's how politics work.. If you don't campaign and, in your words, force some guy on another person, then there will be no majority that will vote for said politician that you believe in.

Hmm.. that's not really an argument. If I questioned the institution of slavery 150 years ago, would you say, "That's just how things are"?

672  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many bitcoins do I need to retire in 20 years? on: October 05, 2015, 08:40:44 PM
The amount of USD in circulation is around $5 trillion and M1 is around $25 trillion.

So assuming the market cap of Bitcoin becomes $5trillion, 1 bitcoin will be worth $250,000. Therfore to have a retirement of $1,000,000 you will need 4 bitcoins.

But assuming the best case scenario and bitcoin attains a market cap of M1, 1 bitcoin would be worth $1,250,000. In which case you would need .8 bitcoins to have a retirement of $1,000,000.

Bottom line:
Between .8 and 4 bitcoins IF bitcoin becomes the dominant form of transaction around the world in 20 years.

So I forgot that I "pre arranged" me to set up my account and got an email just now to setup my account... so I was looking through the user agreement terms, and it seems they give quite literally ALL your information to the government to keep track of you and your purchases and everything else.  They also do background checks and possibly everything else to invade your privacy... I don't like this, did any one else see this?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

OH BOY!

That's what you all wanted isn't it? A 'Regulated' exchange. This is what regulated means folks. If you don't want regulation use one of the other hundreds of ways to trade bitcoin.

Here's a tip. When you make polls, don't make a 'troll answer' option. It just attracts immature little boys who think they are doing mischief.

Anarchists are not anti rules. They are anti rulers.

In other words, Anarchy is the radical notion that others are not your property.
677  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How many daily transactions can 1mb Handle? on: September 30, 2015, 04:59:01 AM
What's the number? We are averaging around 120,000-130,000 daily transactions currently with a steady increase over time.
678  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are possible scenarios for the block halving? on: September 25, 2015, 07:50:05 PM
We could have a new bubble that goes to $1300 again. And then another 2 year bear market.
679  Economy / Economics / Re: Ways of buying bitcoin without letting the government notice on: September 20, 2015, 05:36:50 PM
So people are throwing around this term 'ethical' and I have to chuckle... I guess to them, taking people's money by force is 'ethical'. Lol. Ok...

Here's a tip.

Since you probably have no idea what ethics are, go look it up. And after you do that, go look up the word CONTRADICTION.
680  Economy / Speculation / Re: well, been almost 2 year since i was last active with bitcoin on: September 20, 2015, 03:59:32 AM
Buy after FBI auction AND MtGox coins return via Kraken.

At spring it will bottom below 100 probably, no need to hurry.  Cheesy

Do you have info for this? I would like to read about this.
