All time high!
662  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 03, 2014, 02:35:44 AM
upswing to about 460 incoming over next couple of hours.
663  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 03, 2014, 02:21:08 AM
Here's hoping BJA either sold a little on the spike or found something to hock.

If the posted bids down to 400.01 were dumped at market, they would buy up to 490.76

I closed my margin long @ $478 and took a good pounding. My biggest loss ever. Note to self: Never hold a margin position overnight.

note to all : NEVER NEVER EVER TRADE ON MARGIN!!! Wink jmho!!!

I'll play the ignorant n00b card again... could you please explain what trading on a margin means?

In my defense, it does say "Newbie" on the left Smiley

You will see the end of this bear market by these following indicators.

1) The price will go lower then most expected
2) The price will remain low longer then most expected
3) The loudest and the most enthusiastic bulls will start to blame bitcoin and everyone involved for the situation and then write dramatic final speeches of them leaving.

If you will get tired of seeing indicator 3, then it's time to buy, not before.

#3 spotted in the wild!

666  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: April 01, 2014, 08:40:11 PM
Isn't that assuming $1/Ghs remains attractive?  With a lower exchange rate, the fiat reward for mining becomes less (because those 25BTC blocks are worth less), and so hardware becomes relatively cheaper on the market..

It just seems like it somehow balances out in the end, so BTC price doesn't even matter..

nope. competition is selling ~$3/Gh disconnected from the exchange rate, could be 1000 or 500, doesn't matter for chip sellers(it seems like doesn't matter, risk is always on miner side, they are betting for higher exchange rate in future)

... ASICminer is selling for $1/Gh, i don't know why so horrible cheap, but i am not a boss ...

Keep in mind Asicminer is selling chips for .50-.99/Ghash . Once the pcb's are manufactured and other parts priced in for a complete miner as in the comparisons., it's likely to be higher but still very competitive. I'm sure they will have no problem selling out regardless of short term btc/usd value.

Talked to Havelock support. They say they are waiting for information from the fund operator and hope to reopen trading soon.

IRS cant hold us! Smiley

I do not live in USA but i wish this IRS thing will never happen - keeping record for one year of each smallest transaction is SICK!
They will understand it after short while!

Bitcoin for USA! Smiley

And about the price --- stabilizing Smiley

they understood that, this is on purpose to harm bitcoin and they'll harm and kill bitcoin, Ripple will take its place within few months. This is life.

individuals do not have to fill out form 1099. so for the vast majority this is inconsequential. They should be paying taxes on gains on bitcoins anyway.

Exactly, yet every time a news story that is positive, such as the Square Market news, pops up as #1 on google search, another rehashed story about the IRS guidelines pops up. All with outlandish headlines like "Bitcoin bites the dust" and "the end of Bitcoin" blah blah blah. Each article usually has some finance industry person bloviating about the doom and gloom that is pending for bitcoin. There seems to be a desperate effort to suppress Bitcoins acceptance at large. Desperate indeed. It is not even known if the IRS will stick with the guidelines and it is certainly starting to look more benign than many would have us believe. This constant recycling of old news is going to backfire, because people do catch on to bullshit eventually. Especially with a steady stream of fresh news pointing the the opposite trend that these FUD stories attempt to create.

First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win. Smiley

I don't know which stage we are at?  And the stages may last a long time...

bitcoin has been simultaneously in all four stages as soon as it started to gain some value. It has been ignored, ridiculed and fought against... yet it keeps winning, growing, expanding, and developing.

No one's heard from Garrett regarding the vote tally. I didn't vote for liquidation and, to be clear, was not dumping shares before the trading halt..
670  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: March 31, 2014, 11:01:59 PM
I have to say that it is very irresponsible for Havelock to stay silent for this long. I haven't received an email (although I have gotten about 5 emails plugging the same offering), no mention of it here, none on Havelock.  What gives?

Yeah, there really should be more communication.
What happened with the attempt to buy btct.co from burnside? That was a much better exchange. Particularly the motion system.

Agreed. btct.co was excellent in many respects. I wonder who bought it, if anyone?

Why did you sell @0.002 Goat?
I paid between 0.25-0.6 for the majority of my shares of cognitive, 0.002 is pretty much dust. I understand the desire to get something, anything but sheesh.
671  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 31, 2014, 10:32:29 PM
They have but the dumps are looking feeble and the buyers have shown they're there, cautious but they're there.

Not bold enough to buy up the price, but enough to get in while the getting is good. Smart money doesn't buy to move up the price like crazy until they are full of whatever they are after. In this case, XBT.

Mini wall at $450. May be a good opportunity to buy back with no slippage for a bigger player...

...and it's gone
674  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wallet.dat missing? on: March 31, 2014, 08:48:15 PM
If you didn't back the wallet.dat up before funding it, the only help we can give is to make sure you do that next time. Sorry for your loss.
675  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: March 31, 2014, 03:33:49 PM
Thanks for the math work guys.  It's pretty obvious what needs to happen. Unfortunate and costly to us all. Let's bury this and be on to better things.  I actually voted for the continuation of cognitive but can now see that it is a losing proposition. Blah
676  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: March 30, 2014, 06:17:17 AM
Generation 2 fizzled. Kudos to friedcat to scrap those plans early and get busy on Gen3 asap. This generation of chips is poised to dominate once more and asicminer will be in perfect position to launch gen 4,5,6 etc.

 For those about to rock.....

We salute you!

Buy on fear. Always. Bought as much as I could Wink

So you've been buying non stop the last few months? How much did you lose?

hundreds of thousands since the top. but I am 100% bitcoin for a long time. Since the beginning I am still up. Glad to see the point of entry is getting affordable lately for newcomers.

no news for the weekend? Huh

It'd be nice to get some updates from Garret or Samuel. We are currently at around 15Th/s  according to these charts http://cognitivemining.com/charts/

Update

The chips passed the functionality tests.

Thanks for the update!
