back on CKs pool Cheesy
662  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: My Solo Mining Experiment, two years. starting with 3 S3s and 1 U3. on: November 26, 2015, 10:35:42 PM
I could consider that...
And you guys wont believe this my mate has been mining on a GPU on CK pool he knows how slim a chance he has to hit but he testing it out while hes waiting for his ASIC....

In 1.5 weeks a 1.1 BILLION share with 100Mh. That is awesome.
663  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: My Solo Mining Experiment, two years. starting with 3 S3s and 1 U3. on: November 26, 2015, 09:41:57 PM
I find the solo mining quite a 'fun' factor. Best share currently is 26,155,616.70 Cheesy I am getting a KNC Neptune as I have a free electricity opportunity and that will be in a pool (mmpool). I am also  thinking of getting one for here, shutting off the heating and using IT to heat while getting the heating cost refunded by the bitcoin mined via MMpool. I have another smaller miner currently on MM pool. That share was pulled less than 3 days after failing over to nicehash btw.

I plan to have a total of 10TH equipment in a pool, and 1.3 - 2 TH solo dedicated. All the miners will have a solo failovers in anycase.

2615561670 not bad after two weeks running almost total time : ) It will happen Cheesy

664  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: My Solo Mining Experiment, two years. starting with 3 S3s and 1 U3. on: November 26, 2015, 09:36:46 PM
Hashing away Cheesy I have been having some serious routing problems which my ISP is fixing and all but one of the miners which is mining elsewhere has failed over to nicehash solo currently! The same wallet address is there. I set nicehash solo as my failover but nothing is wrong with CKs pool as my uncles miner, my friends miner and one of mine (one of the S3s) which is at a different address (electricity is free there) is hashing on CKs pool fine. Having troubles accessing my email too, funny enough everything works through my VPN.

Hoping to be hashing back on CKs pool again but currently hashing fine on Nicehash! My investment is about £300 on these.

A block will happen Cheesy

I have three pools here, CKs is pool 0 nicehash is 1 and my own node on my VPS server is 2.

tbf I think every hardcore or dedicated miner should have mining on their own node as a failover, it helps protect the network should anything happen to the major pools for any reason!

I find this pool really fair it seems, I do like the TX fees being rewarded to the block finder... When I have my 10TH of equipment set up this will be the primary pool. 10TH here and 1.3 TH for my solo mining experiment sounds good to me...

I know this an old topic, but I cannot find much information on these. With free electricity  what is a good price to pay for 5 cubes and the controller board?

668  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Way to build up a savings account... on: November 22, 2015, 08:59:45 PM
I decided that I would like to build up a savings cushion while I am in college still. As well as my solo miners I am putting some miners in a pool. I am looking to purchase 15 - 20 TH worth of equipment as I have a free power opportunity with a few friends. Put them in a pool (my choice will be MM pool with failovers at a couple of others)

And have the pool payout address mine to a wallet which I printed out the private key and passed to my aunt and partner in Malaysia and then deleted. Neither know really how to use bitcoin but it stops me spending the coins. If bitcoin value increases sharply in a bubble they will give me it so I can sell them. I want to get the other equipment before the halving. Then when the time comes to move to Singapore, cash them out and then I will have built up a reserve. This will be for the two years I am studying along with my solo mining experiment : )

I think this is a great idea! Especially with the opportunity for 'free' power.

669  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins I like and why I have started accepting them for my readings LTC / UNO on: November 22, 2015, 11:34:33 AM
About litecoin dying, I see this trumpted all the time, currently LTC is worth more than 99% of all the altcoins out there and there are plenty of people mining it and running the LTC network, keeping it going. Therefore, it is alive. Weather or not the devs are supporting it doesn't matter too much, in theory the devs of bitcoin will pass over long before the final coins are mined. UNO being a store of value I do agree. I am merge mining unobtanium in the mining pool I participate in. I should have 1 or 2 coins by December if i proceed that way. I am also selling some spare stuff and have opted to accept UNO for it on here.

If litecoins value tumbles to less than $1 and does not recover that's when I say its dead. But I am interested in getting an ASIC for litecoin myself and solo mining it. A decent ASIC, i want to buy a couple and total 200MH of mining power because I do trust in LTC.

670  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 0.5% fee anonymous solo bitcoin mining 127 blocks solved! on: November 22, 2015, 11:23:17 AM
Fair enough Smiley Just thought id mention it anyway! I tested mining on my own node at one point recently and id like to thank you for doing this pool, i mine here instead of my own node for a lower orphan risk, the pool seems very reliable and for the past couple of months that was the only failover I had and not to do with the pool! but I have the following set up

solo CK Pool

Nicehash solo

My own node

To be fair the only reason i set up a failover on my own node is if a sudden attack were to happen on all the major pools mining on one's own node seems the safer option to stop the network grinding to a halt? The ones that pool mine have failover to CK solo and my own node.

from looking at my miner stats it looks like I had a failover to nicehash solo at some point in the last 24h and then back to CK.

673  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Wanted: UNO (unobtanium) - I have for sale games, electronics, etc + Services on: November 21, 2015, 12:08:28 PM
I am having a clear-out so am selling some stuff off. I really love the UNO currency so I am selling stuff, FOR UNO! UNO only!

Here are the items I am offering, categorized. The prices include shipping within the UK outside of the UK let me know and I will check. Feel free to escrow but I do not know who offers escrow services for UNO? For the larger items if you are based in the UK I am happy to let you view the item and transfer the UNO from a laptop to my wallet there and then. Based in the NGXX postcode area.

Mining Stuff
1. Antminer U3 - 25 UNO
5. Spare antminer fan taken from an S3 which I scavenged for parts 7 UNO

Electronics
1. Teac V-1050 Tape Deck - Works well - 30UNO
2. Sanyo RD-XM1 Microcassette deck - 100UNO
3. Super-8 Projector - Silent (I have a few of these for my own developed movies, but selling one off) Recently had a new lamp - 50UNO
4. Vintage Panasonic record player with cassette deck (the cassette deck is  temperamental) comes with speakers (this is collection only or shipping which is expensive) - 10 UNO (not including shipping for this one, you can arrange your own courier if you like with fiat.

Computing Equipment:
1. Medion Desktop PC - Intel Core Quad with 1TB HDD and 4GB of RAM - Windows 7 (includes shipping) I have used this machine as a server but recently upgraded my hardware. Comes with keyboard and mouse, the keyboard can be a bit temperamental. Has DVI and HDMI output - 150 UNO
2. Toshiba Laptop - 3GB Ram - core2duo, basic laptop for office tasks - Windows 7 - 50UNO Battery holds a good charge as was replaced at some point last year, comes with PSU

Games and Consoles:
1. Resident Evil Revelations PS3 (I have two copies of this one I am keeping) 5 UNO
2. Time splitters 2 PS2 - 3 UNO
3. PlayStation One - SCPH 1001 - 15UNO comes with controller but no AV cable
4. PlayStation 4 20th Anniversary console, No 00794 out of 12000 (I have two, one I use, BOXED but opened) 3000 UNO (seems high price, but those consoles are rarer than hen's teeth! I have one set up which I use, will be almost as unobtanium as unobtanium!
5. Call of Duty MW3 - 5UNO

I also offer services which I sometimes do on a freelance basis. Payment can be completed after services have been rendered in the case of services.

1. Transferring cassette tapes, or reel to reel tapes to digital format - 2UNO per tape including return postage 1UNO can be knocked off if you only want the digital files returned electronically. (Much cheaper than market rates with current UNO market price, but hey, uno is cool)

2. Tarot reading over the phone or skype or email with questions - I am happy to do these for 1 UNO each or 0.5 UNO for an email reading. I would be happy to put you in touch with former clients before a reading if you prefer however payment can be completed after the reading. As quality of readings can very between people and sometimes nothing can come through for a particular person, payment is always best done AFTER readings and not before with any medium.

3. Transferring super-8 films to digital (my set up to do this is optical based and is not a telecine scanner so quality will not be as good as comparable (but also much more expensive) services. Projectors are kept clean and maintained - 1 UNO per completed 3 minute reel and return shipping which can be paid in another currency if you do not wish to part with any more uno. If your grandma has unviewable super 8 films in her loft this is a way to get them cheaply transferred. Payment is after completion when a sample is sent.

4. Article writing of any kind - I am willing to give time to write articles, 1UNO per 2500 words, payment after delivery of finished work to ensure you happy with it.

Hopefully there is something here someone is interested in. For UNO only please! If anyone wishes to escrow with a moderator here or if any escrow services exist for UNO I am happy to accept that in the case of goods.

Thanks for looking.

Jacob

674  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Update to 0.10 Wallet - Merge Mine w/BTC! on: November 21, 2015, 10:22:52 AM
I really like this concept. I charge my clients £15 for 30 minutes of a psychic / tarot card reading at times when I am doing them when I am not busy and relaxed, but I told no tech savvy clients if they can find me some of this, for example buying it at $1.44 (shame difficulty is too high for CPU mining) they get a reading for a single UNO coin. I really like this concept so much it is one of the few unique altcoins, I like it!
675  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins I like and why I have started accepting them for my readings LTC / UNO on: November 21, 2015, 10:02:34 AM
I edited my post Smiley It is the sheer number of altcoins and often have very similar function to others. BCN would have been good without the premine due to the cryptonote, I think monero has potential but it is not user friendly yet. With many others there are just so many I cant keep up with them. The population wouldn't want many different coins I don't think harder to manage, so a few with unique potentials seems better than many that are just forks with a name change, and some changing of the block reward and a couple of other things. But also the names. Bitcoin is a great name I think 'hey mate that will be 3 bitcoins!' Sounds good. In many altcoins they have even forgotten to replace 'bitcoin' in some of the software. There was one altcoin which I cannot remember now that I downloaded and it said 'bitcoin core is shutting down' on exit. Or in titcoin for example you go to the debug window and it goes 'Bitcoin - Debug window'.

'hey mate that will be 2 feathercoins' or 'hey mate six ziftrcoins' although ziftrcoin was intended to be a coupon type thing.

many of the names don't go into general conversation flow. Bitcoin, litecoin does. Unobtanium does not but due to the nature of it that is okay to me, hey mate, one UNO please sounds good.  Or 'mate I have some unobtanium if you are willing to trade'. Monero or bytecoin isn't too bad in this respect. Obviously this is subjective, I am thinking of a time when you walk into a shop with a mobile wallet or pay the bus driver with a mobile wallet. UNO I don't think is intended for widespread use, but for its rarity. Hold your phone over the terminal which carries the receiving wallets public key and presto paid. So the coins need to not only just launch with little change of something that is already good, but needs uniqueness, support and definitely mobile support, if any altcoin offered that out of the box complete with a system to accept payments before launch it has a better chance of gaining a foothold. Litecoin got mobile wallets later, bitcoin has them also.

676  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Altcoins I like and why I have started accepting them for my readings LTC / UNO on: November 21, 2015, 09:57:22 AM
There are not many altcoins I like. Most are really to me, crap coins. I really symphonize with the maker of Shitcoin (SHT) for this reason. However there are two altcoins I see with great potential, so much that I am accepting them for readings on my website (I do tarot readings for people over the phone and skype).

1. Litecoin - I feel that it can be the penny equivalent to bitcoin, I saw references to the silver to bitcoins gold. I agree, 21 million coins in bitcoin is NOT enough for a large population I don't think. So I think a secondary coin is needed, and I think litecoin fits this bill. Simple, and easy.

2. Unobtanium (UNO) - I loved this concept. A rare coin with only 250,000. Launched with no premine and fairly launched, and just a cool concept overall and a cool logo! I do see potential in this one, while I charge £15 for 30 minute tarot readings, and £30 for 1 hour readings on my site, any client who had managed to procure one of those (which stand at $1.44 per coin) gets a 30 minute reading for the price of $1.44. Just because I like the coin itself. Seems stupid. I am also merge mining it in a mining pool. I do many readings locally and via my website which is currently down as I have been working on a new one for my college project. To be fair a couple of clients think its quite an awesome challenge to try and get some of this coin to get a 'cheap' reading, provided they are buying the coin rather than mining it due to the high difficulty so cant be CPU mined and their lack of technical knowledge often. I have considered solo mining this coin but for the life of me cannot get the wallet RPC to work even with the conf file. And the difficulty is quite high, and I don't currently have the cash for an ASIC dedicated to this coin and feel id spend more in power than I would getting enough unobtanium. The logo, and concept for this coin none of it overdone, it is the first 'rare' cryptocoin and like bitcoin was the first crypto, no other 'rare' coins will come close now as its already been done. I am merge mining it at mmpool with my rigs which are in a pool. I wish the wallet could be in a self installer so people less technical could install it. Any client who obtains this, either by paying the cheap price for UNO (which is what most of my clients said they would do if they could find it as many of them are not technical enough for an ASIC and it is not CPU minable in my opinion)

Namecoin seems to be worth something but seems to have little to benefit over bitcoin.

Bytecoins massive premine makes me think its garbage.

Monero had a fair launch but its not user-friendly enough as of yet.

EDIT: I posted this in the wrong section, it should have gone into altcoin discussion I had two tabs open
