661  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: mining BItcoin is illegal activity in Venezuela....? on: March 19, 2016, 04:08:29 AM
If they can't control it then it is easier for them to make it illegal.  Can this stick since it is a global rather than regional currency?
662  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-03-18] Nearly Three Bitcoin ATMs Are Being Installed Every Day on: March 19, 2016, 03:07:38 AM
There is a shop in the UK called Cex and it is technology based selling games etc, they started to install a few machines last year.  I found the whole experience straight forward and painless although the fee was a little too high, can't remember what it was but it was approaching the 10% mark.

The high fees are normal as they are still in the starting phase. After some years the fees will come down significantly. Especially when the adoption rate increases by a lot. The more people are using their ATM's the lower the fees will be.

Good news, I did not know that many were popping up.  I agree that the fees are a bit high now but will come down as more people use the ATM's.
663  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 18, 2016, 10:57:38 PM
Wow I just looked at poloniex today the bid volumes more than doubled!
And its all in one buy order that can be removed at the whim of one entity.

How much of a downward motion would this create if they decided to get out?
664  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First major bank has embraced bitcoin adding it to their services on: March 18, 2016, 03:43:58 PM
I was hoping to open the article and see a "major" bank but I have never heard of this bank.  Relatively good news since they can view coinbase next to usd account but I would still like to see a bigger well known bank do this.
665  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I'm holding some ETH on: March 18, 2016, 12:22:24 AM
For the past 6 weeks, I guess I've been buying and selling ETH more than 20 times. Each time with a profit. Last time I've bought, I paid 0.029 and I had the opportunity to sell with a profit, which I did, but I've chosen to hold 10 ETH. I won't sell them no matter how down the price may go. I'm doing that because I want Ethereum to be more than pump and dump. The idea, the whole project, I want to support it. It is a great project. The currency may go down, but I sincerely hope the big project behind will be successful. I also hope I'm not the only one.

I feel the same.  Will hold a small amount because I think the project has potential and there is a lot of talent behind it.  This could just be a price correction and no need to panic.
666  Economy / Speculation / Re: Stable Bitcoin Price on: March 17, 2016, 06:35:12 PM
Stability is a good thing to see.  This has been going on for weeks, there is a calmness about it.  More stability means btc is maturing and is a stable investment.
667  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH GETTING DUMPED HARD!!!! on: March 17, 2016, 05:59:34 PM
This same scenario played out a few days ago, then price went right back up...why is everyone acting like this time is permanent?

Agree. This is a wait and see, there is just too much good press out there right now around ETH.
668  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most altcoin prices are dropping, why? on: March 17, 2016, 06:33:27 AM
I think its time to buy and if you have altcoins keep them.

Exactly.  There are a lot of interesting altcoins out there right now and some with some healthy market caps.  Might be a good time to grab cheap ones that are not scams and wait.  Some of these have major legs.
669  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Ebay/Paypal's ridiculous fees on: March 17, 2016, 06:29:04 AM
Don't remind me.  I pay way too much each month to them.  I am tired of waiting for something to open up that is decentralized and accepts btc.  At this point it would be faster to build my own ecommerce stand alone website and accept btc.
670  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin: For what reason was it a healthy investment? on: March 17, 2016, 04:55:43 AM
It first caught my eye after the rise and fall, from an investment perspective it was interesting.  I then started to learn more about it and the capabilities of the innovation and was fascinated.  I like math and can also understand code so this was a good fit for me.  I am also interested in it as an investment for the entire planet, for the entire planet to become on a level playing field financially hoping to end most poverty and bank the unbanked.  It does have that potential  Smiley

So the time I spend with it - discussing, learning, buying, selling, losing winning is all worth it and will continue to be as the future is in digital currency. Even if it falls on its face I was part of believing in it.
671  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-03-16] Ethereum-based Ownage Will Change Digital Ownership Forever on: March 17, 2016, 04:48:39 AM
If Ownage is a success in the gaming industry then the sky is the limit.  This could be used in any business model and as it said in the article is very versatile. Could be huge for ETH.
672  Economy / Economics / Re: So I made some calculations today on: March 16, 2016, 03:46:39 PM
Thats true the market cap of gold is very very high compared to the bitcoin. With the growth analysis of bitcoin it is clear that from its day of existence, bitcoin has grown enormously.

Yes, the growth is excellent.  Also, consider that gold has been around for eons and bitcoin is not to far behind on market cap.  If it continues to grow as OP has calculated then this is going to get good!  Grin
673  Economy / Micro Earnings / Xapo App Games Wheel of Bitcoin and Bitcoin Wonder Machine? on: March 16, 2016, 03:36:30 PM
Hi, I have had a lot of fun with Xapo's android app games Wheel of Bitcoin and the Wonder Machine but I got an error on phone that must update yet when you go to Xapos site it says they are not available.  Does anyone know anything about these?  Could this be another casualty to Google Ads suspensions? thanks
674  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-03-16]forbes : Dealing With Fraud In The Bitcoin World on: March 16, 2016, 03:29:19 PM
There are a lot of good points in this article and overall it is decent press but that title...he could have left out the word "fraud".  certainly does not encourage newcomers to jump in.  Retitle the article and it is decent.
675  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Exchanges which allowing stop loss orders? on: March 16, 2016, 03:24:09 PM
I trade with kraken a lot and they offer very advanced orders, stop loss etc.
They don't have a lot of altcoins but when it comes to bitcoin you can feel safe with them since they have been long in the game.

I second this that Kraken has a lot of advanced options.  There are quite of few alts on there as well. I have had no issues to date.
676  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins are NOT btc. Enought!! on: March 16, 2016, 02:54:34 PM
altcoins are a necessary part of the crypto-currency ecosystem.

Most are shitcoins and worthless, but there needs to be competition to both prevent bitcoin from becoming stale and to provide an alternative if it does become stale.

Also, honest altcoins can help alleviate the TX rate problem in bitcoin. Right now they don't, well maybe Doge does as it is used for tips some places (or at least use to be). Altcoins is the only way bitcoin can be a fair fee market for transactions - if the tx fee per bite gets too high for the value of your transactions, use an alt-coin with lower fee. That's how fair markets work.

But without alternatives to use, there isn't really a fair market and that could kill bitcoin.

So we need altcoins. I don't particularly like any of the current ones, but as competition for space in the bitcoin blockchain increases, there will be some developed out of necessity.

Altcoins also allow playing with the parameters to see what works best for certain types of transactions. For example, for micro-transactions maybe faster block time helps keep the fees low while pushing a lot of them.

Yes to all of this.  I enjoy all of the altcoins, watching innovation and attempts at new technologies.  It would be very boring with just one and that would actually be a monopoly which goes against everything that these cryptos are about - decentralization.   There are so may talented developers behind many of these so I cannot call them shitcoins - it is taking a lot of brains to do it and some are using idealism with code which is amazing.
677  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Network is under sybil attack on: March 16, 2016, 02:17:21 PM
Nodes is a very important part of bitcoin ecosystem and the last defend in malicious attack from miners. For example in 51% malicious attack nodes can prevent the miner to destroy the network. In a hard fork scenario again nodes can block to relay the the new blocks and transactions.
The other danger think with such a sybil attack is that someone can easy use all of this nodes to get some informations from bitcoin transactions like to identify from where this transactions came from

thank you for this explanation, I think I understand more about nodes.  In regards to the last sentence - Aren't transactions traceable to someones identity anyway?
678  Economy / Economics / Re: European Central Bank cuts interest rates to 0% from 0.05% on: March 16, 2016, 04:15:14 AM
Once we go into negative interest rates we'll see people looking for different means to store their money, I think it's quite possible that Bitcoin could see new interest.

You would think this would make people look elsewhere but it will take awhile until they realize they need to.  Right now my bitcoin wallet is better for gains than any USD bank based on interest rates.  This is not the only area of the world touching negative interest rates.
679  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: i just managed to make 75 $ on: March 16, 2016, 03:46:33 AM
Nice work.  Now you have a taste and can keep doing what you are doing to make more.
