661  Local / Mining (India) / Re: How well people here in india knows about Mining on: January 21, 2024, 06:36:11 AM
The incident I remember is they only concentrated on mining Ethereum not just any altcoins and invested heavily too for standard of middle class but later they sold the pieces of hardware for good price and understand buying cryptos and holding is more profitable for a retail investor than try to mine it.
It would be interesting to see if any miner from India, if they still exist share their views on this. It is way easier to hold bitcoin then mine from our standpoint, but we do want to mine - the ambient temperature in our country is the biggest downside.

Quote
Also I remember, one of my friend also got scammed to the cloud mining even when everyone advised him to stay away from cloud mining concept.
Cloud mining is not classifiable under mining, in my opinion. It is always a scam, always. Unless you are investing in a mining corp that actually mines, you are only being a part of a large scale MLM/Ponzi.
662  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Patience can help alot on: January 21, 2024, 06:29:33 AM
Well you could have lost the entire amount too. You are saying this after getting the result, not when the game was in process - this is a wrong way of thinking.

Of course patience is a good virtue, having it solves many problems and keeping patience through the games is tough can might help you reach the full payout but you never actually know the game's outcome unless it completes and hence patience or no patience does not change that outcome.

Also I think the term applies more to sports betting, prediction games and not dice or slots.
663  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your view on this? Is it fun or addiction? on: January 21, 2024, 06:26:11 AM
I still don't know why people would want to take risk in playing gambling,  no matter the risk people take in playing gambling just to make profit by all means it still don't guarantee it will surely end up a win.  No amount of playing can really give people the desired money they want , it is just better to play with amount one can afford to lose and no need to invest much I'm gambling that will end up to be waste .
The win or loss is less important but the process of taking the risk and playing on in leads to a dopamine rush that gives a pleasurable feeling to the gambler. This sensation is what is important to them and not getting that means they will play more and more to get it more frequently, the same as any drug is taken to maintain its high and not getting that high leads to withdrawal.

It is the same method that many things operate in this world. TV shows, motivational speakers are all using methods to stimulate you neurons to feel that and similarly gambling works.

So the path is what gives them pleasure not the result.
664  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Increased Gambling Risk for the Younger Generation on: January 21, 2024, 06:14:27 AM
I would put emphasis on physical activity and following their passion to be the things that can counter any sort of addiction - because the primary objective of any addiction is to avoid that daily routine and free one's self. For that the gateway for many are drugs and for some it is gambling.

So if people make sure to be active physically at least one per day and educate themselves to be what they want to be, a lot of problems can be solved right there. Unfortunately we created the problem ourselves by removing playgrounds and parks and creating a system of jobs that dont match people's skills. The core reason for that is the increasing population in our developing countries.

Still this problem existed since a long time, its not new and from a personal standpoint it can be prevented.
665  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Trojan in Electrum wallet? on: January 21, 2024, 06:02:12 AM
If it is from their official website, then highly unlikely to be a true positive AV flag.

A remote possibility of their site having been hacked and posted a malware bound software there.

Just one report, then it seems a false positive.

If you still worried about it then verifying it on your own is recommended : [GUIDE] How to Safely Download and Verify Electrum

How to verify your Electrum download
Verifying the signature does not completely rule out that possibility.

Hence that tingling spider sense of mine tells me that you should wait it out before operating that software. Mostly likely its false positive, but ..
666  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Exmarkets scammed me for 2000 usd on: January 21, 2024, 05:55:35 AM
I can only add to the pile of "sorry for your loss" - though your money is never coming back for sure.

The account has been inactive for 2years without posting and negative trust ratings already were present, did you check them before trading on their website?
Were they previously functioning properly and you used them that built your trust and they are now starting to not respond to withdrawals? Because a knoweldgeable member of this forum would never "start" using a new exchange like that.

Anyway I supported the flag from my side.
667  Economy / Economics / Re: The world's logic favours income makers, not the savers on: January 20, 2024, 10:27:30 AM
You should spend money earned from interest from your savings, but avoid spending on luxury too much. If you spending your assets right away you are not generating that income, unless of course you are in an emergency. While the assets will generate interest, you goal should be to spend from that.

So for bitcoin owners, this is difficult to do because the concept of interest generation does not exist much in true form here. Fiat of course has that option in the form of bank deposit schemes, gold bonds and others. I feel thus both types of investment are necessary to reap the maximum profit and one is not necessarily better than the other.
668  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you be worried or comfortable seeing your elderly mother gambling? on: January 20, 2024, 10:16:04 AM
It is a red flag situation, pathological states like I stated previously in this thread, can lead to such impulsive behavior too. Hence it is better to see what is going wrong and treat that. Suddenly a person becoming a gambling addict would not be something to ignore. They will be an added cost on the relatives and that can lead to monetary troubles, broken families or dysfunctional families and so on.

At times keeping them on safer games is possible too where money is not involved.
669  Local / Mining (India) / Re: How well people here in india knows about Mining on: January 19, 2024, 02:20:13 PM
I know people/friends who set up GPU mining rigs to mine Ethereum in 2018 but it's not really gave returns as they expected, and the main reason is the electricity cost and nature of environment needs AC to keep the temperature optimal to achieve the best possible experience from the miner which will exceeds the actual asset we mine.
The era of GPU or CPU mining is long gone. Now you need nothing but ASICs to mine, no nature of powerful gaming laptop will be able to mine coins.

Again altcoin mining is a different ball game - a type of rat race where you mine one coin for an instant and then switch to a new one depending on profitability by selling on market and difficulty. Personally I am not a fan of that, I would have rather mined bitcoin if things were better in our country.

Most of altcoin miners I talked to on different crypto sites, left after a few years and sold off their equipment.

Joe, you are very old member member of this forum in terms of how long you have been in this forum and your stated age. But I havent seen you post much recently and I remembered your username only from that Green translator text.

Sadly these type of scams are very common these days, I think maybe you have been less knowledgeable about such scams in the recent days? Have not seen you to be active much on this forum.

These scams become way more common when events like hardforks, Conversion to new tokens etc happen and scammers use the SEO to optimize their scam pages like that. 7200$ is no joke money, indeed one would be devastated to see such a loss. Sadly it is not coming back we all know, but do go the legal processes that you can afford for now.

Please be more careful from now on.
671  Economy / Gambling / Re: Why they need a license if bitcon is not money? on: January 19, 2024, 02:05:14 PM
I would like point out that the sites that OP mentioned are also the few casinos out there who are offering the Investment schemes. No other casino not even the biggest one out there Stake.com offers a investment scheme while if they did huge number of investors would have flocked in and would be willing to lend their money to the site.

I guess KYC and government crackdown on casinos is hard and who knows when these sites will get stopped by governments and their outdated policies? After all these sites are owned by humans and they have families to take care of, none want to end up in legal troubles.
672  Economy / Gambling / Re: ✨ JacksClub.io ✨ Daily Contest with Amazing Prices | VIP Rewards | Free Faucet on: January 19, 2024, 01:59:09 PM
If you need something to be solved imediately then I guess you could contact the admin on their telegram group chat though. Their groupchat as well as the announcement channel has a very decent number of active admins replying so perhaps they could help you
I see, I did not know that they were active on their telegram chat and were replying to queries there instead of the chat or a live support system. I could rant why I would not like it, but I will keep it piped down for now.

Quote
I guess this is probably due to the number of people trying to be active on chat to get the rain from rainbot huh. Its crazy how people keep trying to make money out of this way but they used to have mods on chat (?) I guess its no longer there huh, its been a while since I visited the site
I have visited the site only a few times, I saw users who posted generic one word or few words to remain active and get the rain from the bot. Which is common in any chat with a rainbot system and it usually is difficult to control or moderate.

Not that it makes the site look too bad, it can be something to control in the long run.

674  Local / India / Re: How does Indian crypto exchange survive? on: January 18, 2024, 02:56:34 PM
There needs to be some discussion between representatives from these exchanges and relevant authorities from RBI/Indian government to sort this out.
These talks are becoming one sided, they are happening from the exchange owners but little response is coming from the RBI/government.

Take a look at this news article National Startup Day: CoinDCX Chief Posts Earnest Appeal to India’s Govt, Web3 Community

They are literally begging the government to take a move, but the other side is only speculating and passing comments. This backward growth of civilization is found in India among other countries but I hope they understand this soon.
675  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paying house rent with bitcoin is it appropriate? on: January 18, 2024, 02:51:03 PM
Does not seem like a bad move at all. Reading the news, it seems a exchange called fiwind is being used as a platform to pay the rent that the landlord and tenant has agreed to with a legal binding. With such a legal binding the tenant has to pay in time and the landlord get paid in time too. This is much better than the traditional system of paying the landlord in cash or their bank by a specific date. Possible that in future these types of legal contracts will become more frequent made and used.

Another part of the news article that caught my attention was that the government there is allowed crypto holdings taxation to be done, this shows that governments might be wiling to accept bitcoin into the mainstream system while taxing them.
676  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens if all Bitcoin is lost? on: January 18, 2024, 02:38:21 PM
I agree with you, I also don't understand why so many people like to think about scenarios that are almost impossible to happen in the near future or within our generation. While many other people are spending their time accumulating bitcoins and they are making a lot of profit from it, we are spending our time doubting and worrying about meaningless things. It was really just a waste of our time.
It is the human nature to over think and make up scenarios in their mind and speculate on them. We should indeed focus on things in life and keep our mental trauma to a bare minimum. Bitcoin is just one part of our daily lives and collecting it should be our objective, it is not something to lose sleep over, after all its money in another form, you will not be taking it to the grave with you.

Bitcoin users should spend more time with friends and family, ease out their minds before coming back to crypto.

Quote
Bitcoin has and continues to become the world's trend and focus, so instead of continuing to doubt, we should take advantage of this unique opportunity to improve our lives. Doubt and worry never help us have a better life.
OP's questions were out of context, I hope they got what they wanted to know. Keeping your coins secure is important and no one can make bitcoin "lose" like that.
677  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: January 18, 2024, 02:32:35 PM
Most likely, only trolls hope that the BTC price can fall to zero. This is basically impossible, at least because of the recent good news, the upcoming BTC halving, and because of the fact that the demand for BTC is increasing.
Not just that. There are people waiting to buy bitcoin as soon as it drops, so if the price for instance say dropped to 20k, there would be a huge buying demand and a support level to  hold that price. They would be buying at a discount and so anyone saying the opposite is being foolish.

Quote
As for placing bets, the range of $40k to $45k is possible, although I wouldn't expect the BTC price to stay in this range for a long time.
I do hope 50k USD is reached this month end. Not just because I have sell orders at that level but also we will be coursing towards the next ATH. Indeed, the betting games on the site has made these prediction talk more frequent in this thread.
678  Economy / Gambling / Re: ✨ JacksClub.io ✨ Daily Contest with Amazing Prices | VIP Rewards | Free Faucet on: January 18, 2024, 02:30:05 PM
One thing the site is lacking is a live support system which is prevalent among any other casino running well today. I wont take names by the top casinos in this sphere have a responsive live support that has been how solutions to simpler problems has been.

I already pointed out the lack of a properly moderated chat and how that too helps solves smaller issues added to it a live support system helps solve bigger issues without having to come to this forum to report.

I hope the owners take these concerns into account.
679  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's the view of an average citizen About crypto currencies on: January 17, 2024, 02:49:59 PM
The future of crypto currencies is unknown,
It was, now rather it is accepted that it is something for the future that is developing and has gained mainstream acceptance.

Quote
but it is a new generation of Money which is already replacing the paper currency,
It cannot replace any currency. Going by that logic a future altcoin should also replace bitcoin. But that is not the case and hoping for one is also futile. It rather complements fiat currency.

Quote
especially Bitcoin been the most popular and successful among other crypto currencies so far, bitcoiners need to know that currently Bitcoin is trading low from its all time high, Bitcoin should not be viewed as a short term Investment, but should be seeing as a long term life changing investment due to its liquidity and high returns when trading high.
Not everyone will see that long term goal, some are here for the short time. But to each their own, bitcoin can thus be both.

Quote
Bitcoin is a digital currency that has come to stay, as long as the internet stays , most persons that didn't believe in Bitcoin 10years ago regretted it, that will be also be the case for people who don't be in it now come 2034.so think positively take the risk and Investment in Bitcoin today.
I am sure we will hear the same thing 10years from now so anytime to invest is now and missing opportunities should be a lesson to correct them in future dips.
680  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Do you own a mining rig? on: January 17, 2024, 02:39:52 PM
I would like to know if there is anyone here really own a mining rig and is still profitable. I have seen people buying few ASIC's and still consider mining a worst investment due to poor ROI. How many ASIC's do you own for now? Also have few more questions in mind.
I dont, because the electricity costs in my country is high and the return made from a year of mining or longer would not be enough to ROI and break even. I would be stuck with ASICs that I would not be able to sell because by then newer equipment would have come into the market and it would eventually become difficult to resell them as well.

You could still try it for educational purposes and then resell the ASIC to someone who needs it.

It might be different where you live. Check out the link @FP91G posted to see what works for you.
