6601  Other / Meta / Re: Newbie Jail Needed at the earliest on: February 16, 2015, 05:05:38 PM
Many months ago I adopted a shoot first policy on members with ads in their sig.  I began reflexively clicking "ignore" on any poster that had an ad in their sig.  I only un-ignore when I encounter quotes of things that poster has said that indicate that they actually contribute useful, helpful, or interesting things.

This has made bitcointalk a much more useful and much more pleasant place to participate in.

I personally don't like ignoring someone. Smiley

No offense but I think it isn't possible to see a ignored person's posts. So do you unignore to check the post and then if it is useful, perma-unignore or else, perma-ignore?

   -MZ

You can see them when someone quotes them as he mentioned.
6602  Other / Meta / Re: If local board's moderator inactive for 2 weeks on: February 16, 2015, 12:38:23 PM
It's still in the que but Ponzis/scams aren't moderated here so it's likely a bad report.
6603  Other / Meta / Re: If local board's moderator inactive for 2 weeks on: February 16, 2015, 12:29:35 PM
In the meantime, global moderators, admins and patrollers will take care of it.

It's not always that easy though if we don't speak the language. Obvious stuff like spambots can usually be handled but not stuff like off topic posting or trolling etc.
6604  Other / Meta / Re: Where should I put my meta thread? on: February 16, 2015, 08:25:17 AM
Yeah, probably service discussion I guess.
6605  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Expert Input Only: How Is A Cold Wallet Bter Exchange Hack Possible? on: February 16, 2015, 06:24:23 AM
But they should know to use an air gap / safe computer for that. Not much point keeping your funds offline if you're just going to put the wallet on an unsecure comp. Exchanges should be overly paranoid when dealing with their funds as should any other bitcoiner really.

Thanks.
6607  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Expert Input Only: How Is A Cold Wallet Bter Exchange Hack Possible? on: February 16, 2015, 06:17:08 AM
Hacking a properly created cold wallet is impossible however it may not have been a properly created cold wallet
a) the wallet may have been created using compromised software (given how long the wallet has existed this is unlikely)
d) despite the company calling it a 'cold wallet' is wasn't a cold wallet* at all and was compromised just as any other hot wallet would be
e) someone (most likely an employee) with physical access to the cold wallet data file stole the coins

Most likely one of these but I'm more inclined to believe an inside job.
6608  Other / Meta / Re: hotmail notifications? on: February 16, 2015, 06:09:26 AM
There are several people who all stopped recieving them on the 28th for some reason, though some people's hotmail accounts seem to be unaffected. Doesn't seem to be working on outlook either.
6609  Other / Meta / Re: [WTF] mprep.... worst moderator on: February 16, 2015, 05:49:19 AM
Any kind of proof of shitty modding?

He probably moved somebodies thread in to the correct forum and obviously this makes him a tyrannical cunt.

I have also had a problem with Mprep moving a few of my topics. I messaged him had a chat and overall worked it out and did not find him to be a bad guy.

Like this. Did he move your thread to the right or wrong forum?

mprep has been the bad apple for a long time. I'd also suggest a nuke and perma ban after removing him as a mod.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=594190.0;all

Bad apple lol. Why? For giving a 'reasonable warning' according to the op? Mprep is probably one of the most least offensive and least controversial mods here and probably would've been completely polite and reasonable if you people would had just PMd him with your issues to get an answer rather than just making these threads.
6610  Other / Meta / Re: LOCKED out on: February 15, 2015, 07:26:12 PM
He says it's a gmail account in the op.
6611  Other / Meta / Re: LOCKED out on: February 15, 2015, 05:07:11 PM
Did you check your spam folder?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=440326

You only have two posts. I'd just create a new account.

theymos works in mysterious ways, though most of the things you requested will likely take a lot more effort than adding some simple arrows. I agree that it's messed the view up but I'm sure it'll be tweaked soon.
6614  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Who are some trusted Starbucks sellers? on: February 15, 2015, 08:43:24 AM
I was under the impression that almost all of the sellers of StarBucks gift cards were selling cards that were purchased from carded credit cards.

I wouldn't trust any of them

Yeah. I think even the 'legit'/trusted ones will screw up evevtually. Usually they are just resellers so they have no control over their suppliers.

Please delete previous bumps when you make a new one. Half of this thread is just bumps.

has anyone actually bought from this guy?  there are over 160 posts but yet on a quick look i haven't seen any purchases and he has no posted or sent trust.

Yeah. Please remove previous bumps when you make them.
6618  Other / New forum software / Re: Spoiler ... on Quotes ! on: February 15, 2015, 05:20:46 AM
The bitcointa.lk mirror site handled the quotes well I think with a 'click to expand' button: https://bitcointa.lk/threads/i-cant-find-any-information-on-nick-szabo-is-he-is-who-he-says-he-is.301502/page-3#post-6029112

I think something similar would be great.
6619  Other / Meta / Re: Please add a button to view the next page In a topic. on: February 15, 2015, 05:06:41 AM
IMO the post/preview bars are too long and too close together. It's hard to hit the one you want now and it's stretching my screen. Anyone else have this?
6620  Other / Meta / Re: Congrats hilariosandco on: February 15, 2015, 05:01:34 AM
Thanks guys. Was wondering why someone had necroed this when I saw it.

from the looks of it he has just been promoted to a mod to the marketplace sections (which is something that is very much needed)....congrats

It is. I think those were the subs that I was reporting the most from and they were oftentimes going unhandled for quite some time. Usually when I wake up there's around 10 reports or so to handle. Today I've got 125 haha.
