6601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig W. only claims to be Satoshi, because he knows the real Satoshi is dead? on: July 04, 2019, 11:23:32 AM
I don't think that this is a possible scenario. One of the reasons for believing so is that there are others who are aware of the real identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, such as Michael Marquardt (username Theymos). In case Craig Wright claims that he is Satoshi and if the real Satoshi is dead, then what prevents Marquardt from coming up with the proof? I am sure that he is not doing that only because the real Satoshi is alive and he don't want to reveal his identity.
6602  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 Cricket World Cup - Discussion & Analysis on: July 04, 2019, 11:20:00 AM
NZ is in the semi finals irrespective if Pakistan win the match as if they have to enter the Semis spot they will have to beat Bangladesh by 308 runs which is like way too much. So now mostly it will be the ranking of the four qualified teams is yet to be decided.

I am very surprised that everyone consider this as a possible scenario worth debating on. Forget about Bangladesh. I really doubt whether Pakistan will be able to win by this much against the China national team. Out of the 4,000 plus ODI matches played till now, the greatest margin of victory belongs to New Zealand (who defeated Ireland by a massive 290 run margin in 2008).
6603  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CWC2019 Prediction Pool - Win x BTC [Additional prize in every round] on: July 04, 2019, 11:16:38 AM
Not sure about these teams but Afghanistan is better team than current Zimbabwe and Kenya. I see these days Netherlands defeat Zimbabwe. I never heard of this Netherlands team before. https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/_/id/19062/zim-in-ireland-and-nl-2019

Zimbabwe used to be a team who were better than Bangladesh teams once. So does Kenya.

Zimbabwe and Kenya were good teams and had very talented players (Neil Johnson and Brendan Taylor for Zimbabwe, Steve Tikolo and Thomas Odoyo for Kenya). But the issue with these teams was that cricket was not very popular among the native population and therefore they had a very limited player pool. And the bad political situation in Zimbabwe forced many of the players to move out of the country.
6604  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Am I screwed? on: July 04, 2019, 02:13:02 AM
I sold at $7550, am I screwed or will it at least go back down to $7500?

You had a chance to cover some of the losses when Bitcoin went below $10,000 per coin for a brief period of time. And that happened when some of the users decided to go for profit booking. Now the chances of such an event repeating looks very slim. Right now, the prices are inching closer to 12K, and this rally should take the exchange rates to the vicinity of 20K-25K by the end of this year. If you want, you can buy back your coins at 12K. To be honest, now it looks very unlikely that you'll get a chance to make purchase at 7.5K.

@Vishnu.Reang  @Little Mouse

Yeah, I believe the same, but history tells us that there is always some chance for upset in cricket. Chances are thin, but we should not close our mind with any possibility.

haha, and the most upset was for NZ, you know they never reach final despite having a blast performance in 92 from Martin Crowe, no one thought NZ is not going to be the champion. But they weren't. Lol, but they are playing so poor this time, will they be the champion this time?

Their top batsman still didn't have any good performance in this edition. Will he be able to act like Gilchrist in 2007?
I can't wait to see champion of this edition.

New Zealand started the world cup with a crushing 10 wicket victory over Sri Lanka. I think I was the only one in the pool who predicted it correctly. During the second match, they struggled against Bangladesh but managed to beat them. And then they were able to beat Afghanistan in a decisive manner. But their performance during the last 2-3 matches have been poor. Had a very close match against West Indies, followed by a defeat against Pakistan. And then crushing defeats against Australia and England.
6606  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 Cricket World Cup - Discussion & Analysis on: July 04, 2019, 02:03:24 AM
England won the match and now it's pretty much over for Pakistan as it's almost impossible to attain these margins against Bangladesh:

It is impossible to attain these margins against any team in the world. The current record is 290 runs.

As of now, we know which are the teams who will play in the semi-finals. But the fixtures are still not finalized. If South Africa beats Australia, then India can finish at the no.1 position (provided that they beat Sri Lanka) and may face New Zealand for the first semi final. If there are no upsets, then Australia will finish at no.1 and may face New Zealand. England and New Zealand have no more matches remaining and therefore the no.3 and no.4 positions in the table are not going to change.
6607  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: John McAfee Believes Dogecoin “Will Go To The Moon” on: July 04, 2019, 01:59:27 AM
dogecoin aside. this murderer John McAfee is the crook of the crooks. i find it's interesting the cryptos community do welcome this con man murderer into her community.

Who is supporting him? I haven't seen a lot of people here supporting John McAfee. That said, we should not be giving any sort of importance or publicity and the users should refrain from posting about crazy predictions that come from him. And regarding the murder case, the court found him guilty of the murder of Gregory Viant Faull. But many of the reporters had doubts regarding the role played by McAfee. And interestingly, the judge asked McAfee to pay $25 million in order to avoid a jail sentence. Something very fishy there...
6608  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If you had to choose only one altcoin, which one it would be? on: July 04, 2019, 01:54:27 AM
Well, first of all, I would consider two coins that are ETH and Litecoin. Most of all I like the ETH, as this coin has a strong community and great potential. This is currently a very undervalued coin.

ETH still commands the support from a very large and loyal user-base. And the second thing is that it still enjoys more than 90% monopoly as far as the smart contract platforms are concerned. The competitors such as NEO, ADA, QTUM and Stellar have lost their value against BTC continuously for the past 1-2 years and the number of tokens created using these alternative platforms are showing a decline. The only point of concern is the performance of the ICOs. Back in 2017, the ATH was attained solely due to the ICO craze.
6609  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: All crypto exchange/business should strive to move offshore to Cayman/Seychelles on: July 04, 2019, 01:50:16 AM
All aspiring brokerages and money transmitter businesses, trusts, you name it you should all, seriously, all of you, seriously seriously just focus on moving entirely offshore and only accepting crypto deposits. There is no winning with the US and EU let alone India.

I think the two-tiered system we're seeing will become more entrenched.

On one side, you'll have your regulated institutional markets and highly compliant spot exchanges like Coinbase, Bitflyer and Gemini. On the other side, you'll have your KYC-avoiding platforms that only work with cryptocurrency. Hopefully services like BitMEX and Binance can manage to keep up the good fight until we have more robust decentralized solutions for anonymous trading.

Binance has already announced that KYC will be mandatory for the users from the United States and they are working to create a separate trading platform for the American users. Users from other regions don't have to undergo KYC as of now, but as the governments and the FATF get increasingly strict with their proceedings, I believe that it is just a matter of time before KYC is made mandatory for everyone. Same goes for BitMEX as well. They can't challenge the feds. We all know what happened to BTC-e, after they did something similar.
6610  Economy / Economics / Re: How Will FB Coin/JPM Coin Impact the Cryptocurrency Ecosystem? on: July 03, 2019, 06:27:33 PM
Many in suspicion are in the new libra coin of the proposed facebook. But they forget that there is still a no less suspicious project J.P.Morgan. He enters the cryptocurrency market with his coin, which is really approved by the banking sector, which is of course a strong blow for existing coins. Because the exchange of bonds can occur instantly, but it should not be forgotten that there is no question of decentralization.

The user-base of Facebook is at least 25 times larger than that of Bitcoin. On the other hand, the user-base of JP Morgan is around one-fourth of that of BTC. On top of that, while Facebook has come up with concrete plans and timeline regarding Libra, JPM has so far remained silent on this. It looks like they will shelve their project and lend support for Libra.
6611  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: USA blacklists 2 bitcoin addresses, threatens with secondary sanctions! on: July 03, 2019, 06:23:06 PM
Lol the mixing algorithms? Umm ok. You can't predict something that is random. No two mixes are the same. Also, you seem paranoid. Backdoors? Give me a break dude.

There is noway of tracing the originating wallet ID through the "mixing algorithm". It is random and you can't reverse-engineer a random formula. But it is true that some of these mixers may be operated by the authorities. A number of dark market vendors got arrested during the past 2-3 years after the authorities were able to trace their transactions.
6612  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CWC2019 Prediction Pool - Win x BTC [Additional prize in every round] on: July 03, 2019, 06:16:57 PM
~snip~

We might see a big upset in one of the semifinals.  Wink

England, India, Australia are top teams and can beat each others on their good day so nothing surprising or major upset here. Kiwis winning the world cup might be surprise for me.

Kiwis need to win just two more matches to lift the trophy. First they need to defeat Australia during their trans-Tasman duel and then they need to beat either India or England in the finals. But considering their pathetic form during the last 2-3 matches, I would say that any chance for that happening is really low. A more realistic possibility would be England winning the world cup for the first time.
6613  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 Cricket World Cup - Discussion & Analysis on: July 03, 2019, 05:59:46 PM
With England Striking early, this could be the end of any hope for Pakistan to reach the semi finals. Undoubtedly England is a better team than Pakistan and they deserves this spot.
With every team losing at least one game and interesting win loss combinations, semi finals are going to be equally exciting this time.

NZ played the worst cricket in this WC in this match. They lost the match by 119 runs and now this gives chance to Pakistan to enter the semis but they have to beat Bangladesh by very big margin and this may be little impossible but never know as things are changing in this WC.

NZ is through the semi-finals. Pakistan has no realistic chance of qualifying now. The difference between the NRR is too large (-0.966) to be compensated in one match. That said, I don't know what happened with New Zealand. During the initial phases, they were dominating the points table.  Their sudden disintegration is a bit worrying.
6614  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CWC2019 Prediction Pool - Win x BTC [Additional prize in every round] on: July 03, 2019, 05:51:42 PM
^^^ The same is given in the Telegraph as well. Here:

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/cricket/2019/07/03/england-vs-new-zealand-cricket-world-cup-2019-live-score-latest/

The most probable semifinal lineup is as follows:

SF1: Australia vs New Zealand
SF2: England vs India

I don't think that Pakistan is capable of beating Bangladesh by 300+ runs. On the other hand, there is a real possibility that Bangladesh will pull off an upset.
6615  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: noteworthy altcoins for investment? on: July 02, 2019, 03:18:31 PM
The Bitcoin market share has reached 61%, and together with the forked coins such as BCH and BSV, the share makes up for around 64.5%. Another 2% is made up of stablecoins such as Tether, USD Coin, and True USD. That means that only around one-third of the market cap is now made up by the altcoins. One and half years ago, this was close to two-thirds.
6616  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: John McAfee Believes Dogecoin “Will Go To The Moon” on: July 02, 2019, 03:12:53 PM
Oh.. now this loser comes up with his stupid prediction again. Till now I was viewing DOGE in a positive light. Loser McAfee will make me hate Dogecoin. The only advantage for Dogecoin is that it is having a large, loyal user community. It is like those 300,000 people in England who registered their religion as "Jedi Knight" during the census. It is a copycat of Bitcoin and doesn't have any unique features. The inventors created it for fun and never expected it to become popular.
6617  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If you had to choose only one altcoin, which one it would be? on: July 02, 2019, 03:04:46 PM
I would have chosen Ethereum, but the death of the ICO market had a very negative influence on that coin. I am afraid that the ATH attained in 2017 may never be reached again. Right now BCH is looking very attractive, although it is not a very popular choice here. The Bitcoin transaction fee continues to rise, and it is going to benefit the acceptability and usage of BCH.
6618  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-07-02] Bitcoin Criminals Set to Spend $1 Billion on Dark Web This Year on: July 02, 2019, 03:00:08 PM
The fact remains that less than 0.1% of all the contraband is purchased using Bitcoin. The government authorities use this 0.1% as an excuse to whitewash the remaining 99.9%. The vast majority of illegal drugs and other stuff are being purchased for physical cash and so far the governments around the world have failed to do anything regarding this.
6619  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto holds 980,000 Bitcoins.. does anyone know their addresses? on: July 02, 2019, 02:47:27 PM
Those coins have been rotting there for almost ten years now (ever since 2009). And I don't think that they will ever be spent. IMO, Satoshi Nakamoto is either dead or he has lost the private key for those wallets. So ideally, sites such as coinmarketcap should not consider these coins while calculating the market cap of Bitcoin.
6620  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CWC2019 Prediction Pool - Win x BTC [Additional prize in every round] on: July 02, 2019, 02:44:19 PM
Mohammed Shami is showing tremendous form in this match as well and that is going to be good news for India. That will take some pressure from the Indian bowling attack, which got a jolt a few days back when Bhuvneshwar Kumar got injured. Bumrah is having another frustrating day, and is not being able to pick up wickets despite bowling his heart out.
