6621  Other / Off-topic / Re: Recovery for Google Authenicator on: May 14, 2021, 07:14:07 AM
Google authenticator is close source app, this is one of the reasons you suppose not to use it because you can not know if there is any vulnerability running such as spyware, using close source apps or software should be completely discouraged. There are reputed and recommended open source authenticators which will be better for you to use.

Recommended and reputed authenticators
  • Aegis
  • andOTP

Aegis and andOTP are open source, this is one of the reasons you should use it, the source code is available to the public, any vulnerability found will easily be known and be fixed. But also you can make use of password to protect it on your device, unlike Google authenticator that can be easily accessed without no password protection.

How do I go about recovery public keys and how do I go about store it again???Any solution my problem?
It depends.

If you do not have access to your old device and you do not do any backup, it will be impossible for you to recover back the authenticator, that is why proper backup is necessary.

If you still have your old device with you, that will make this faster.

  • open the Google authenticator
  • click at the three dots on the upper right side
  • click on transfer accounts
  • click on export accounts
  • input the password of your device
  • make sure all the site authentication you want to export are marked (they are all marked by default, but you can unmarked the ones you do not want to import to your new device)
  • click on 'next'

You will see a QR code, import it to the Google authenticator on your new device, all the sites you enabled authentication that you marked while exporting it to new device will appear. You can also do the backup of this QR code in case of recovery. But, I will still advice you to use open source authenticators like Aegis and andOTP.
6622  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what do you guys use bitcoin for? on: May 14, 2021, 06:42:45 AM
I have used Bitcoin to refill my phone balance. To be honest it was more expensive for me to use BTC to recharge my phone than to pay with it by fiat currency, which was truly disappointing  Shocked Roll Eyes
You can easily go to someone or store that is selling credit cards to recharge, you can even make use of your bank directly, both did not require any fee in my country which I believe will be the same in other countries. Making use of Bitcoin will require you to send bitcoin to one address which will require transaction fee, buying it when the feerate is low upto 10 sat/vbyte or 5 sat/vbyte will make the transaction fee to be less which can even be less than $1 if using segwit is used for the payment with 5 sat/vbyte feerate, but buying card using bitcoin will demand for fee.
6623  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Road to Hero! A challenge to self, and challenge to yours! on: May 13, 2021, 10:18:48 PM
If you plan to participate in this two week journey grind and earned enough merits to be ranked up (regardless of how far your activity is), then be back after two weeks with your progress and story. Goodluck to us! Let's make every post and time count!
I will advice you not to take this hard on yourself, do not count your merit, let your merit count for itself. You need just to make your posting quality authentic, as you are progressing, you do not need to rush this, but if it comes as fast as the way you wanted it to be, that means you really work hard, but if you do not get it fast, that does not mean you did not work hard. What I do believe is that if someone can not fly, at least he should walk, if he can not walk, he should crawl. What is most important is that we should not be stagnate. But, yet, if this is a challenge for yourself, there is nothing bad, I wish you good luck on your way to achieve hero membership.

Guess waiting Bitcoin price go be at summer and win Bitcoin

Free-Roll "Speculation" BTC-price guess !!!  Summer price guess...
6626  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Free-Roll "Speculation" BTC-price guess !!! Summer price guess... on: May 13, 2021, 06:49:34 PM
$50000

Reason is because much more whales might not yet be involved, Tesla made people to sell, the price was below $47000, while the price rose back to $50000. The $50000 support is so strong while $60000 resistance is also so strong. The price will likely still remain between $50000 to $60000, but I guess $50000 will be the price at the time.
6627  Economy / Economics / Re: Tesla stops car purchases with Bitcoin on: May 13, 2021, 01:57:52 PM
I also agree that this bone-headed decision could be responsible for bitcoin's decline in the last few days.  Makes me wonder how the other corporations that purchased bitcoin feel about this, and perhaps what they might do.  Hopefully Tesla doesn't induce companies like MicroStrategy, Square, Marathon Digital, and others to sell.  Just imagine if that were to happen.  Bitcoin would probably be under $10k in no time.
That would be his strategic plan, if Bitcoin market has not matured enough, and if institutional whales have not yet invested in bitcoin, the whole market (Bitcoin and altcoins) would have crashed, likely less than $10000 bitcoin price will be possible. But, this did not happen, the market has even slightly grown back above $50000.

I do not know the plan of Elon musk exactly, but it is definitely a manipulating plan, I am thinking he is just try to make sure bitcoin market should crash so that he will be able to use the meme thing to increase the market value of Doge, by also making Tesla to be accepting Doge as payment.

I am wondering someone who knows about Bitcoin mining to have just such decision, he is definitely after something.
6628  Economy / Economics / Re: Tesla stops car purchases with Bitcoin on: May 13, 2021, 11:29:52 AM
Bitcoin does not depend on Tesla or Elon, we should know that. Only what will happen will be just temporary just as Lorence.xD commented. Bitcoin does not depend on anyone.
6629  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tesla will accept $ because they're environment friendly on: May 13, 2021, 11:12:13 AM
I don't get the reason though, I mean bitcoin uses the same electricity as any household or factories which means that bitcoin isn't the reason why there is high emissions, the real problem is the energy source, I have seen a few users say this and I do agree that it is true because if we still use fossil fuel and oil, it won't make a difference if the activity of bitcoin is reduced because we are still emitting pollutants.
Elon musk knew about PoW Bitcoin mining and electricity cost before (or can he tell people that he did not know that bitcoin mining uses electricity), he just want to manipulate the market and likely find Doge to be the coin to use.
6630  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Musk and Tesla's BTC conspiracy on: May 13, 2021, 08:54:34 AM
This is obviously clear that Elon Musk is manipulating the market, what he just declared can result to bear market, we have even noticed the bear market since like a day ago. Elon knows much about how bear market works, he knows that big blow on Bitcoin could really result to bear market that may set Bitcoin to decreased below $50000, that may also lead to other cryptocurrencies to begin to fall in price, even very possible Bitcoin to decrease below $40000. I am thinking he is planing in a way Doge will be accepted for Tesla payment, if not thinking that way, he really still just want the market to abruptly fall. If care is not taken, this can be the beginning of the usual bear market, but let us see how it goes as some others whales are still there to make sure market price is not really affected.

@Charles-Tim you talk well.
But shouldn't Bitcoin payment be an option? I understand the high fees and how it would be expensive to withdraw out for the organizer but not everyone uses USDT and those who don't use it need a way to still stay anonymous. Wetin una think?
The only reason way make them commot bitcoin for the option na the fee and you kwa understand that one but, e no suppose be problem say, you no dey use other coins like usdt. Crypto alone na all anonymous something, which ever coin you use and I no need tell you this one, you na big man for the system. The thing be say, if na BTC you get, na just to swap am for the required coin on binance or remitano and then send am to the address wayh them give, matter dom solve. Your anonymous nature go still dey intact. Even people cef way wan use fiat and them wan save there identity, na just to cash your money for hand instead of to transfer direct from your account. You cash your money put for hand, go POS go tell them to run the transfer for you, carry your receipt, snap and post for confirmation. Like that too, your identity go still dey hidden. Na small matter e be and watin we wan use pay or identity no fit be issue.
So far people dey wey wan pay in Bitcoin, we no get the option than to add it. The fee for our side no go much, e go be only one time fee, so, that no go be problem. I go update this soon today.

6635  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Do you think the Trezor One will accept Carnado some day soon? on: May 12, 2021, 07:05:53 PM
you can use Trezor Model T or Ledger Nano X...
About staking, it is not included in the OP post, but Ledger Nano X and S can be used to stake. If Trezor Model T can be used to stake, then Trezor One can also be used, so far the coin to stake is support. And the OP is asking if Trezor One can later support Cardano, he did not mention anything about staking.

Also, Ledger Nano S support Cardano. But I will still prefer Trezor Model T because it is completely open source wallet. But using passphrase for trezor is highly recommended.

I will give appropriate response soon, please be patient. Very possible we will soon add Bitcoin address for payment also. I am also thinking about people using noncustododial wallet and receiving payment in Bitcoin, this will make it hard to use USDT and some people may not want to use Naira. This is a good suggestion.

6638  Economy / Speculation / Re: Would it be foolish to take out a crypto loan at this stage of the bull market? on: May 12, 2021, 01:43:57 PM
If you are afraid of taking loan in Bitcoin due to its price that may increase, then go for fiat-pegged coins like USDT, BUSD or USDC and the likes.

The Ian Coleman website is using javascript, in a browser to generate entropy and your seed... I'm not sure I would be comfortable calling it "safe". Undecided
If you consider using it on broswer in offline mode not comfortable, you can still run its HTML file on an airgapped device.
