6621  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Is Poloniex liable? on: June 08, 2018, 01:49:11 PM
it's not extortion because there's no demand for money, property, services. it's a breach of terms/contract issue.

This is really interesting, thanks.
I don't know if personal information can be seen as a property (of course not) but, isn't it?
Of course, I agree with the point of poloniex just taking care of its own back, for they can be accused of many stuff. But, in every contract, when policies change, one of the implied parts should have the freedom to disagree and stop the commercial relationship at that very moment.
The property, in this case, is your money, which you no longer are able to use due to the change in their policies. Maybe this is not an extortion, but what is it then?
Just wondering, I don't totally understand how if a contract changes in its policies you are not able to say no and withdraw your funds, as well as stop all the relationship.
I feel that question has not been answered yet.

My work is due March 2019 so my work is going to be done around that time. And of course I will share it here, and if you would be interested I will send it to you when I am going to be done via email.

Maybe this is better if you write an article in here as well as your research advances. It will be truly informative for all us and a great contribution to the forum itself. Once concluded your research, share it with all the forum, I'm sure many of us will be happy to read your work!!!
Of course, I will be glad if you send me a PM and share with me your effort.
Best of luck, mate!! Is that your very first research??
6623  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New here? Please read this and protect yourself at all times on: June 08, 2018, 01:29:43 PM
<...>

As you've said this is really basic, but, honestly, I think some seniors usually forget how important the basics are, so this is important to inform others about this kind of stuff.
I merited you for a well-constructed topic, informative and humble, and also because before meriting, I gave a quick look at your posting activity and you seems to write only where you find you have something to say,  One advice: avoid megathreads if you can, I mean replying in posts with more than 20 or 30 replies, or read all the replies first, if the post has been answered enough, then I encourage you to stay away.
Nevertheless, most of your answers are humble and informative, and anyone can notice that you are not here just by begging or earning or writing a single line hoping a reward.
Congrats. I'm honored I gave you your very first merit, let's hope it to be the first of many.
6624  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A small guide about merits on: June 08, 2018, 01:22:47 PM
This is great advice. I think I'll save the link to the OP and refer anyone begging for merit to it. The only thing I would add is: Don't post unless you have something to say.

Totally agree. I've just added it, thanks!
Curiously, I wrote this post almost two months ago and had no repercussion until now.
6625  Other / Meta / Re: Why are these posts deleted? on: June 07, 2018, 03:40:14 PM
Taking a look at your posting activity the real question is why aren't you banned.
6626  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A small guide about merits on: June 07, 2018, 03:36:21 PM
It does not have any criteria, it seems to be an extraordinary question, what do we really mean to qualify, the ability to create big debate, qualify by achieving a certificate, but the need for job skills to give it a realistic look.

I'm afraid I can't fully understand what you're trying to mean. Tha's precisely what I'm talking about when speaking on improve your English. I am not a native-English-speaker, so, if you want to be understood for us non-natives, please try to write your thoughts in an organized way.
Quality? This is a difficult word, I agree (if that is what you were asking). The best way: look for the most-merited users in the forum, and you will learn about what the merit givers consider to be the best "quality" posts.
6627  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Legal nature of cryptocurrency on: June 07, 2018, 03:13:51 PM
Maybe this article helps: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/299132451_CRYPTO-CURRENCY_LEGAL_APPROACHES_TO_THE_CONCEPT_FORMATION

In this website, you will be able to find many researchers sharing their projects, as well as some articles.
There are others dedicated to the investigation, as Jstor or Academia.edu.

Please share your research. The law approaches to crypto are very interesting and I'm ignorant in the matter. Good luck with your work!
6628  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Is Poloniex liable? on: June 07, 2018, 02:38:47 PM
Its sheer disregard for human dignity for forcing someone to relinquish their rights in other to have access to their own hard earned money which was kept with them as a custodian. I even think its against human dignity to be subjected to that amount of ridiculous conditions. Poloniex is actually going beyond its reach and its doing it because they don't answer to anybody or regulatory agency that is why they can just wake up and think of a new way to subject their customers to another form of modern day slavery.

Banks today, are not as worse today. If I want to close an account, all I will be asked is to write a letter so also if I want to withdraw, I am not mandated to comply with any rules that does not comes from the Central Bank, if I am not comfortable with their services, I move on to another bank without any issue. Suing them to court is really good because they need to be held responsible for their action which can be likened to extortion and forceful denial of rightful resources and that should be allowed to go away in a sane society. They further confirmed the argument of why there is need for regulatory intervention in this industry.

That's all. You've put into words my thoughts. Regarding crypto, it was supposed to be in a direct competition with banks, in a way of making people far more free than we are with the banking system. That's why such kind of actions concern me the most, for they are breaking the crypto principles, supposedly based on anonymity and freedom.
Some people take the new regulations as a necessary evil, given the illegal activities surrounding the system. But is renouncing to freedom the price we all must pay? To anonymity? If not, they are going to rob us and it is going to be well-seen?
6629  Other / Meta / Re: Merit system fact on: June 07, 2018, 12:48:53 PM
>_<

Indeed!! I thrashed out 3 minutes of my precious time trying to find something useful in his posting activity: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1334313;sa=showPosts

Nothing was found. The second time today I spend time in a newbie begging for merits.
Regarding the topic, from the last month each day we have to do digest topics like this one on the Meta board. Every day we have a newbie or a JR telling us how we must change the merit system in order for they to rank-up, but showing a lamentable post activity.

You want to rank-up?? Care your image in here. Make only good posts. Give us something useful to find in your post history.
6630  Other / Meta / Re: Need a forum for merit? on: June 07, 2018, 12:42:05 PM
<...>

I've taken a look at the first two pages of your posting activity and found nothing deserving any reward: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1225468;sa=showPosts;start=20

By coming here and begging for merits, or worst, trying to generate a "merit community" (of beggars) you are going to achieve only to become a part of some user's ignore list. If you feel you have "many articles" as you have said, then post them in one of the threads where merits are offered, just learn first to find them. Anyway, I repeat, I couldn't find anything close to being an article, just some nonsense lines on megathreads.

Regarding the initial question. NO. We don't need a "forum for merit", as you have intituled your thread. We need better newcomers, deserving ones.
6631  Other / Meta / Re: [SUGGESTION] Using Merit to Penalize Awarded Merits on: June 07, 2018, 12:37:30 PM
<...>

For farmers and shitposters, there is another tool called "banning", which I find far more fair and powerful to clean the forum.
Demerit people will have many issues:
- Demerit people for something personal.
- It is going to be difficult to pick all the shitposters in here, for they are too many, and demerit them.
- The merit system is based on reward, not in punishment. So this is going to be against the system existence itself.

Gaining merits may not be as difficult as you find. There are many users in here searching each day for good posts, so just avoid giving lessons to the forum function when is clear you have not enough experience and just do a good work.
6632  Other / Meta / Re: https://thebitcointalk.net is it a phishing site ? on: June 07, 2018, 12:26:59 PM

I try to create a new account on it and i can't register on there because the captcha is error(i already try in different browser too). Looks like that site just created only for stealing log in information.

I was imaging something like that, thanks for sharing. Of course this is difficult to know how many BT users try to get into there by mistake, by, given all the hackers accounts we have almost daily...

6633  Other / Meta / Re: Please can we auto-delete some new members on: June 07, 2018, 12:24:54 PM
How about this idea then?

We have a new members board, and that is the only place new members can post, apart from the meta board exceptions like hacked accounts. They can accrue post count, activity and merits, but the board restriction can only be removed by a mod or admin. This would allow a decent new member to go straight to Junior if he has made the activity. A lot of the bots and low value posters would be detected, and their accounts can be closed. They wouldn't be able to display signatures of course.

I like the idea. A controlled board in which, in order to rank-up, you can join merit contests or something like that. The best publications will obtain the necessary merits to become JR. member (yes, I think it shall be necessary to implement at least 5 merits to become JR), and, once acquired, they can make publications on others.
Each local should have, as well, the newcomers board.
6634  Other / Politics & Society / Re: John McAfee for 2020 President on: June 06, 2018, 03:08:40 PM

He will be even worse than Trump. John McAfee is the guy who was ready to approve any ICO, in return for a small monetary donation. Many of the ICOs which he approved turned out to be scams and unsuspecting investors lost a lot of money in them.

Agree. I was just being sarcastic, for I know what kind of activities this guy is leading. But I just can help myself and stop smiling when I see people that actually support this kind of people to become presidents of the US. What's going on with the US population? They don't care anymore about the image they are giving to the world? They have Trump already, a big joke. Can they just be thinking about McAfee, the big scammer, as a great solution? Finally, they voted for Trump, another great scammer, a racist, a pedant and an ignorant...

6635  Other / Meta / Re: https://thebitcointalk.net is it a phishing site ? on: June 06, 2018, 02:55:40 PM
In that case there are a huge amount of "thebitcointalk.net" phishing links posted on bitcointalk.org

This may explain some of the hacked accounts.

Yep. If you try to login to this site, they will have your name and password. Maybe that's the reason why so many accounts are being hacked recently, maybe not.
Fortunately, this site is not very well positioned, nor in the Yahoo search engine, neither in Google, for the moment. You have to dig to find it.
Unfortunately, I've seen this site is recommended by mistake sometimes. One day I will try to create an account into it and see what happens. Have any of you already done that?

Recently there was created another fake site called:BitcointaLLk(notice it has two L instead of one). In there, they say they were satoshi and ask for some money promising to duplicate it. Some people were scammed, and they rob in total more than $300 ...
Probably, if digging, we will find some other sites like those two.
6636  Other / Meta / Re: Please can we auto-delete some new members on: June 06, 2018, 02:38:40 PM
Even if you were able to do so, new people are going to join the forum and participate in the scam fest.
The Beginners and Help board is worst and worst each day. I think this is time for mods to erase all repeated posts about merits, ranking and so, for they are not even reading the previous ones, but repeating, again and again, the same junk questions.

I spend some time in that board with the will of helping some newcomers to understand that, in here, begging or spamming is going to lead them to nowhere, but, sadly, it isn't working anymore, this is a spam fest.

That is why my suggestion (and past suggestion of one member before as per the comment on my first post) email to every new member account to inform about basic rules, although the rules is posted and pinned already sometime they don't know they are also required to read it so direct message with the link is much better.

Second is that, we should have a bot that gives warning  to the same topic title to avoid spam by newbie like us.

Well it's just a suggestion, they can ignore it but if taken consideration then I'm happy I hell even a little.

The bot seems like a good proposal, maybe one warning the people of repeated posts.
Emailing each newbie, on the contrary, seems completely impossible, for they are hundreds of newcomers each day and the task would be big. Maybe an automatic email, in which the rules are explained in a simple an understandable way would be nice, and of course, including what is going to happen to those who break the rules...
6637  Other / Politics & Society / Re: John McAfee for 2020 President on: June 06, 2018, 04:26:07 AM
Another joke-president?
Anyway, this is not difficult to be a better president than Trump, and, probably, he will make the crypto great again...
6638  Other / Meta / Re: This is happening a lot, someone fix it..... on: June 06, 2018, 04:20:30 AM
Yep, this has been an issue for a while, I even have proposed several times a "report possible merit abuse" button in each profile, for this is annoying to see how many people are abusing the system.
But, somehow, I agree with Theymos and some other members, the merit abuse has a black future, for they will run out of merits and, eventually, they will not be able to still ranking up by abusing the system.
However, the path they are able to walk by abusing the system still concerns me...
6639  Other / Meta / Re: Account with too much copy/paste posts on: June 06, 2018, 04:15:26 AM
Well, sadly it has been a common practice since the last month. Some users even copy-paste your reply to a thread in the same thread!! but, as long as I can see by now, reporting them to mods is good enough.
Nevertheless keep a copy of the user's name and the post he/she has plagiarized, for, probably, they will come back with an alt once banned.
6640  Other / Meta / Re: [SUGGESTION] Introduction of KYC To Establish Trust on: June 06, 2018, 04:12:30 AM
What do you think? Will this system work? Any pitfalls?

What do I think? well, this can be a party of hackers, stealing identities and getting some rewards for some users information!!

Will this system work? definitely NOT.

Any pitfalls? I will not stay in here enough to see, for if they begin to ask about personal ID's i will leave the forum as fast as possible.
