6642  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Federal Reserve Chairman Bernanke: I love bitcoin on: November 18, 2013, 12:16:22 PM
OK, he did not quite say that, exactly...  <chuckle>

URL: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-11-18/u-s-agencies-to-say-bitcoins-offer-legitimate-benefits.html

Quote
Ben Bernanke, chairman of the Federal Reserve, is also weighing in on the hearing, saying that it has no plans to regulate the currency.
“Although the Federal Reserve generally monitors developments in virtual currencies and other payments system innovations, it does not necessarily have authority to directly supervise or regulate these innovations or the entities that provide them to the market,” Bernanke wrote in a letter to the committee.

Looking forward to attending the DC hearings in person tomorrow!

Anyone else going to be there?

oh really , not quite ... Cheesy

I think it's a "good once in a while" act.
6645  Other / Off-topic / Re: They are a tad bit too late to the game. on: November 18, 2013, 12:07:56 PM
Price will be a factor but still I think it's too late.
If they come up with an asic , that's going to be nice.
We might even get rid of those so called companies with their damn pre-orders that are floating around right now.

6648  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is your gender? on: November 18, 2013, 12:02:15 PM
maybe there are moree womans here on the forum, but they dotn like to know who they are
nah, it's more like this
females usually don't  spend as much money as males do because males interested in them usually pay for some of their interests while it costs the males  more which means  males are more interested  in  obtaining more money  and so resulting in more research on online business from males then females and now we get over 90% of male bitcoiners Cheesy
but I'm pleasantly surprised, I thought females would go a lot under 9% Smiley

I dare you to read the bold part with loud voice in you home 10 times.
Was that a tongue twister or what?
6649  Other / Off-topic / Re: I ordered a faulty 7950 from amazon and became sick on: November 18, 2013, 11:58:45 AM
the disappointment made me insane. I took it personally like amazon purposely sent me a bad card because they didn't want me making coin

It's been a while and I'm still hesitant to buy a card. Will not buy from amazon. Probably newegg

In cryptography we trust!

No , they taught about your electricity bill and said , common  let's give him a faulty card cause with a good one he will end up loosing more money.
6650  Economy / Speculation / Re: Poll - Is the market being manipulated? on: November 18, 2013, 11:54:56 AM
Regarding the chart with transaction-count: Look at the chart that excludes the 100 most popular addresses. This removes gambling stuff like SatoshiDice and focuses more on actual transactions. That chart is showing a consistent growth.

That consistent growth , can it explain a 100x price?. With just an average of 60k from 30k total transactions , it's clear that not adoption or usage is driving the price up.

6652  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Good alternative to bitmit? on: November 18, 2013, 10:18:15 AM
Now that bitmit is down, what are some good sites to sell and buy stuff for bitcoins?

http://www.halfpricedigital.com

Excuse me for being ignorant , but what can you buy there?

Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite for PC, Hinterland Harbor MTG, Chandra's Phoenix, Borderlands 2 for PC, etc.

Why did you say ",ETC". Cause those five games are all you can buy on that website.
6653  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you really believe in bitcoin as a currency? on: November 18, 2013, 09:53:05 AM
Bitcoin could be considered a currency if people start buying and selling things with it.
Many users tend to compare the price to which a bitcoin is traded right now , to it's actual use.

Bitcoin has grown 100 times in value in the last year , while the number of transactions has barely doubled.
Currently most people see it as an investment rather than a currency.
6654  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You don't have to buy a whole Bitcoin! You can buy partial! on: November 18, 2013, 09:48:43 AM
Of  course you don't have to buy a whole Bitcoin , of course you can buy partials , but it's far better to buy a few Bitcoins. Cheesy
6655  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 18, 2013, 09:33:49 AM

6656  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin at the US Senate on: November 18, 2013, 09:28:58 AM
I'll be more amazed if something actually happens after this.
6657  Economy / Economics / Re: I am buying BTC and hold them and even forget about them and in 4 years... on: November 17, 2013, 01:17:29 PM
in 3 years, those bitcoins are worth the value of 10 mils usd now , you still keep them

2 days before the 4 year anniversary ,you get sick or you have a car accident. (god help not)  , but your coins value 15 mils.

Now really , are those extra 5 mils on top of the other 10 more valuable than 12 months of living normally?

6658  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Was Perfect...............And Then Came The Utopians! on: November 17, 2013, 09:56:33 AM
I think that only people who have lived in a capitalist country should say how bad or good capitalist is.
They shouldn't fantasize about how communism works in RL.

Obviously , same for the others.

As I managed to live survive in both , I can only say... F***** communism.

6659  Other / Meta / Re: Forum Category for Female Bitcoiners on: November 17, 2013, 09:47:42 AM
And next we will have a category for transsexuals , with sub forums like from m>f and f>m
And after that we will have people shouting :

"Go to the female section , you ..." "go to the ts section , you... "
Which will lead to more hate and trolling and abuse.
6660  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: would this be a good idea for doing safe bitcoin loans? on: November 17, 2013, 08:39:39 AM
So let's build a coin to be used as a collateral for bitcoin , and that will have a fixed price?
This is not how the economy works.

Also , why not use litecoin?
Also , if you can purchase this alternate coin with moneypak why not purchase bitcoin instead?
It's a bit early in the morning , i haven't had my coffee but it sounds like:

"When NASA first started sending up astronauts, they quickly discovered that ballpoint pens would not work in zero gravity. To combat the problem, NASA scientists spent a decade and $12 billion to develop a pen that writes in zero gravity, upside down, underwater, on almost any surface, and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to 300 degrees Celsius.

The Russians used a pencil."
