https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/news/sarfaraz-ahmed-sacked-as-pakistans-test-and-t20-captain/articleshow/71646519.cms

Damn. Saw this coming from a mile away. He has been in the news from quite a long time for so many negative reasons which is why I feel that Misbah made the right call here. Azam seems to be the right choice as the T-20 captain though I did not expect Azhar to become the ODI captain. Lets see how this move plays out.

This is a bad, very bad decision. You may have your own different opinion, but Sarfaraz did take the team to number one in the T20s and successfully maintained that rank, so I believe that he should've at least remained the captain of the T20 side. There's a T20 world cup coming up in less than a year, and Misbah seems to be trying to ruin the team at this stage. Lips sealed
I have a more or less similar thoughts as you. but good thing is they didn't drop him as a ODI captain lol which looks like a lip service in a sense because there is no major Tournament coming up in ODI. Babar Azam might look a good choice for T-20 but i am not sure if he's captain material or not and clock is ticking for next T-20 World cup. In test format his captaincy sucks so Azhar is good choice.

For 3rd test, Indian may think about testing the strength of their bench. But, I am sure Wriddhiman Saha will not lose his cloves even Indian future plans are highly depending on Rishabh Pant. India may rest Ishant Sharma as Umesh Yadav is seeming more promising than Ishant. Shubman Gill is the another man may get his long awaited opportunity.

Ranchi is spin track. so Indian team might go with 5 bowler combination here as well ( 2 seamers and 3 spinners) kuldeep can come in the squad. it would be interesting to see who get rest or drop in this test. Umesh /Ishant?

Saha is good to go and no change in Batting lineup so no chance for Shubman Gill.

At home, Virat Kohli's India have established a dominance that has drawn comparisons with the Australian teams led by Mark Taylor, Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting, who were almost invincible at home. They have also become one of the best travelling units, especially with their well-rounded bowling attack finding unprecedented success on the road.

And yet, this India side is yet to win a global title. And that "big tournament" is what former India captain Sourav Ganguly, who will take charge soon as BCCI president, reckons India need to win.

"It [India] is a very good side," Ganguly said at a media briefing on Tuesday at the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) headquarters, housed at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. "My only thing is that they need to win big tournaments. I'm not saying they need to win every time. It's not possible. But we have gone through seven big tournaments without winning one.

Agreed with Ganguly, its been a long time when India won any ICC tournament (Almost 6 years) if it doesn't change then Semi final chokers tag is good to go for Indian team. having said that in this article one more thing caught my eyes and its pretty hilarious as well. i will leave it for you guys if you can notice  Grin

Sourav Ganguly was known as one of the most aggressive captains India ever had. Under his leadership, India reached new heights. I hope he'll be able to do the same with BCCI as well. There are still a lot of corrupt people within the state associations. Srinivasan's daughter has been elected to the Tamil Nadu state association. Hopefully Sourav can kick them out.

We should not be so naive about his role. I have no doubt on his intention or capability but the best Ganguly can do is check on corrupted individuals but thinking that he can alone kick Srinivasan's daughter or eradicate all corruption from the BCCI is clearly not possible.

Rupa Gurunath (SN's daughter) is just one name if you look closely at New BCCI team then you might notice excellent example of nepotism (few are genuinely worthy).

Any former Pakistani players included in this tournament ?
Since this tournament will happen in India, that's why i am asking this question ?
Unfortunately no Retired cricketer from England, Pakistan, Bangladesh, New Zealand or Zimbabwe. Participants cricketers are from 5 test playing nations. India, South Africa, Australia, Sri Lanka and West Indies.

Edit : About 100 ball Cricket
I don't welcome short format matches, it will certainly destroy the real cricket aka test format. ICC is now running test championship to encourage test format.
Come on these are retired players coming back to play cricket and they were not doing anything for a long time and 100 ball game is a fair game for retired players. Time is a factor in a competitive world and people does not have the time to spend so much time to watch a sport and hence short formats are necessary to keep the fans.
Bro, Retired cricketers tournament is schedule in India and 100 ball tournament is for current International cricketers, its schedule in England. they both are different leagues.

Well i am Test cricket Fan as well and i prefer Test cricket over shorter Format any day. @Haunebu and @bryant.coleman already pointed out good points in favor of shorter format and we have to be realistic with the ground realities, we can't deny the fact that majority loves or prefer Shorter format and then there is a financial aspect. the more money any Board or ICC have in their piggy banks, then they can give extra boost to Test Format.

Well, that's start and i agree with Aliant CEO Eric Brown's statement “Adoption happens when you’re able to earn cryptocurrency, and then go on to spend it.” I would love and want to see this in reality. Let's say next decade or so, where i can spend my tiny stash just like Fiat with ease, instead of converting.

Aliant to Pay Part of Employees’ Compensation Packages in Bitcoin

United States merchant services provider and payment processing firm Aliant Payments will be paying each of its employees part of their compensation package in cryptocurrency.

In a press release on Oct. 16, Aliant said that the offer reflected a desire that employees become invested customers in the shift to digital currency.

Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Muttiah Muralitharan set to feature in new T20 tournament
Now we are going to see all (5 Test playing nations) retired players in T-20 tournament, Which is schedule in India next year. Road Safety World Series. So far 110 retired players confirmed their participation, my guess is financial setup-auction rituals are similar to IPL if there are any.
Wow. This is awesome. I hope they telecast this tournament on the popular channels. It will be great to watch legends like Sachin, Lara, Sehwag etc play against bowlers like Lee, Muttiah etc even if they are way past their prime.

True, its treat for old timers and young generation as well. i am sure they are going to telecast on sports channels. they are planning to run this tournament for next 10 years or so and i hope spectators gives thumbs up to this initiative.

We can only speculate about Warner and Gayle atm but they have capability to switch their form in any franchise cricket anytime, so nothing to worry about per se. anyway this is the complete list of players Who registered for The Hundred Draft and in which price category?

True. India already faces an insane reservation problem in areas like education etc which is why this is a big relief although corruption is still a big problem in terms of selections and I don't see this problem getting minimized anytime soon.
Yeah we can't deny corruption factor on selection criteria. its more of a power balance; to be more precisely, when selectors become or act like an fanboy for any captain. then situations gets worse, it happened in recent time as @teosanru pointed out in his post and i quote "like Ambati Raydu and others were never selected in team due to certain political intervention"

Sourav Ganguly is now BCCI's president so there are good chance, where he can keep a tab on Indian Captain and coach.

May be add Ishant and especially Umesh Yadav. he performs good in Indian conditions.
Ishant and Umesh never really impressed me to be honest, but they are great bowlers although I would choose Bhuvi over them since I like his variations. Chahal and Kuldeep are also rising up the ranks these days.
In shorter format i think the same but in Test Format they both did okay and on some occasion gave excellent performance. Bhuvi is one of my fav bowler but in Red ball cricket competition is tough in between Indian seamers. its good as far as Indian cricket is concern.

Wrist bowlers are always handy and I would like to see Chahal in Test Cricket as well, may be in next 3-4 years or when situation demands. Tough time for Kuldeep, lets see if he can get in the Test Squad first, its cutthroat competition and everything depends on combination but he has a bright future that's for sure.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) is solely responsible for the death of cricket in that country. Their stupid quota system has destroyed the quality of their national team, as well as the domestic cricket in that country. I can understand quota system in education and employment, as I come from India where up to 70% of the seats are reserved based on the caste. But implementing quota system in sports is just ridiculous.
What the heck? Did not know that CSA followed a quota system. Absolutely messed up. Corruption along with this stupid system are probably the primary reasons why many quality South African players are not being given any chances.

Why do you think their Domestic players runs towards other cricketing nations. I am just glad that BCCI doesn't follow this pattern, otherwise Indian cricket is doomed as well. as a matter of fact every citizen of India and every institution (political +social) doesn't want to implement Quota reservation in only 2 Areas. One is Army and Second is Indian Cricket Team.

Bumrah and Shami along with Ashwin and Jadeja are probably the reasons behind such amazing statistics. I can confidently say that these guys form the best bowling lineup in the Indian team at present(Bonus is the fact that Jadeja and Ashwin can bat too).
May be add Ishant and especially Umesh Yadav. he performs good in Indian conditions.

After World Cup furore, ICC scraps boundary count rule

Quote
The contentious boundary count rule that resulted in England winning the 2019 World Cup despite the final against New Zealand ending in a tie has been scrapped by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and will no longer be used at future ICC events.

The ICC’s Chief Executive Committee on Monday however agreed that the use of a Super Over as a way to decide results at ICC events will be retained. “Both the Cricket Committee and CEC agreed it was an exciting and engaging conclusion to the game and will remain in place covering all games at both ODI and T20I World Cups,” an ICC release said.

“In group stages, if the Super Over is tied, the match will be tied. In Semi Finals and Finals, there is one change to the Super Over regulation in keeping with the basic principle of scoring more runs than the opponent to win, the Super Over will be repeated until one team has more runs than the other.”

In the 2019 World Cup final, widely rated since as the greatest to have ever decided the tournament in its history, England managed to tie the target of 242 that was set for them by New Zealand. The Super Over also ended in a tie but England’s tally of 22 boundaries against New Zealand’s 17 throughout the tournament helped the hosts win the title for the first time in its history.

Interesting Statistics as far as World fast bowlers(including Indian pacer too) concern in Indian condition. Only team comes close to India is Australia, Oz name is interesting as well because it was Oz's spin attack who broke the spine of Indian batting line up and won the game in the recent time.

Is it a sarcasm regarding Team Selection... Don't know.

~Edited out~
This does feel sarcastic. Did not expect Gibbs to speak in such a manner. Embarrassing that they cannot accept their failure. The fact is that drastic changes are required if they wish to stay relevant in International Cricket.
I think his sarcastic tone is directed towards South African selection system.

Quote
When you see their own team players like De Kock and Rabada arguing, you know there is something wrong with the team. I miss the old South African players like Smith and Pollock who made South Africa a dominating side in the past.
If it wasn't for Faf then Kock and Rabada both were about to fight, its bad when we talk about spirit of the game.. But i would be lying if i say i don't enjoy these moments in Test Cricket.  Grin

Tbh for me from 90s to mid 2000ish was golden time. We had so many Legends in the Test Cricket.

~Edited out~
and if India tours South Africa in the near future they will white wash them in their home ground as India does have a lethal fast bowling line up.
India was suppose to win the last series there with at least 2-1 but Virat and Shastri did many blunders with selection despite having strong team but this time i am hoping for different outcome.
