6641  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gold quickly becoming more scarce. Which will be worth more, Bitcoin or Gold? on: March 25, 2020, 05:05:53 PM
This has always been discussed in this forum. Gold will quickly deplete on the earth that we are mining but its value will still be dependent on how would the richest of the rich will see it. Right now, everyone's eyes are focused on derivatives and other new investment fads that were introduced in the market. Gold retained most of its value for over centuries, mainly due to the fact that almost everyone recognizes its intrinsic value. Aside from that, regulations are put into place to ensure that no schemes whatsoever will be used on gold to play with its pricing. On the side of bitcoin, it is poorly regulated, easily swayed by whales if the conditions are right and still is a young asset in the block. Of course, gold will win the safe haven game, but for gains, bitcoin clearly is the winner. In the long run, it would be bitcoin that will be the best performing asset there is, ever, alongside any other cryptocurrencies due to them being young and being susceptible to manipulation and whatnot.
6642  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Coronavirus scam email - do not donate bitcoin on: March 25, 2020, 12:23:15 PM
Disgusts me that people are actually using the current pandemic as an avenue to further their scammy schemees. Shame on those people who doesn't have even half a heart to what's happening to the world currently. Anyway, since you brought forth a scam masked in the form of donation, if other members could also post anything of the likes here in this thread for it to be compiled, that would be great. The last thing we need in these trying times are scammers who are using the name of charity in order to dupe people into donating into their own pockets.
6643  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin still a Safe Haven, haters aren't saying the truth. on: March 24, 2020, 09:14:30 PM
Blind optimism is dangerous, and I don't think it will lead anyone to any good at this point in time. Even though bitcoin prices are tanking every day, I still see the previous prices of $4000 - $5000 as the best entry price for bitcoin, and this is only for those who are brave enough to hold their bags for quite some time. You can still play the "invest and forget" game with bitcoin if you think that it is worth it in the end, or if your wallet allows you to invest and bear the truth of seeing red streaks on graph day by day.
6644  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you gamble right after coronavirus outbreaks? on: March 24, 2020, 07:29:04 PM
Definitely not going to play almost immediately. In the country that I'm staying at (the Philippines), the capital region is locked-down to outside and inside transport, except for those which carry essential items and necessities. All established are closed except for pharmacies, groceries and restaurants (which do not offer dine-in orders, obviously). Surprisingly, the national government allowed casinos to operate still in the midst of the outbreak. You wouldn't know how much virus is circulating within the confines of said casinos during these times, so obviously it will take a while before all of this goes down the drain. Perhaps I'll just be taking my much-needed vacation since I work 16-hour shifts as a volunteer for testing samples for PUIs and PUMs for COVID-19.
6645  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox rehabilitation claims on: March 24, 2020, 06:28:12 PM
It is stated in the plan explicitly. Trustee intends to transfer BTC belonging to more than one creditor to an exchange in a single transaction. Exchange is then supposed to divide BTC to each creditor probably in accordance with instructiions received from the trustee. Seems complicated to me. The other option is to have fiat sent direct to creditor’s account.

So apparently they want to make the process more complicated and difficult than it already is? The trustee seems to be not in the mood to do it himself. Whatever the plans for rehabilitation are, for as long as the customers are paid accordingly (which I know they aren't, unfortunately), there should be no problems. And since I understand what you meant by your question, why in the world would a trustee entrust the settlement of the rehabilitation claims to another exchange? Wouldn't that be adding yet another layer of insecurity to an already complicated deal that they are fighting for years? If I were to receive something, perhaps I'd like to get mine without any hassles--fiat is the way to go for that matter.
6646  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox rehabilitation claims on: March 24, 2020, 04:13:07 PM
If one claims BTC BCH then they will be sent to the exchange I suppose.

I don't quite understand what you mean by this. Yes, Mt. Gox customers affected by the hacks will receive their rehabilitation claim in the form of fiat, and I don't think they will allow people to post claims for BCH/BTC. Then again, it is subjected to the ruling of the courts which mostly goes on to favor the requests of Mt. Gox so far.

There was a link re: ruling on claims for rehabilitation somewhere in this forum though I can't seem to find it. Perhaps other users will have that link and paste it here for further reference and discussion.
6647  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Safe with bitcoin? on: March 24, 2020, 03:08:06 PM
Limited contact between merchant and consumer is what's really the thing now given how fast the transmission of the virus is. Bitcoin solves just that, although it may still be very difficult to use it as currency knowing that only a few merchants willingly accept bitcoin as is. Plus the fact that digital payments channels are also already in place which people are very familiar too, so more probable than not, people are going to choose what they think is the best atm. Perhaps with the recent pandemic, people would be aware on how highly-infectious diseases work and how physical currencies are acting as vectors of transmission to it, and will come up with solutions to completely phase out physical coins and move on to digital currencies--or at least allow it to exist side-by-side with their own fiat.
6648  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Credibility in shock on: March 24, 2020, 02:27:18 PM
Get a grip. Even traditional markets with known regulatory bodies manning the helm every trading hours are infected with manipulative hands that are rarely seen or noticed by regular traders. It is happening everywhere, not just bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency markets. No investment is 100% safe from any forms of exploitation, and so the notion that bitcoin will gain credibility if these manipulators are eliminated is false.

The moment you have laid your funds in an exchange and bought BTC, you must understand that you are bound to lose your money if you don't play it smart.

As for CZ mentioning actual rollbacks in the chain to regain access to hacked bitcoins, there is no way in this world that that could have pushed through given the stand of majority of the miners against such activity. It would hit bitcoin really hard and people would feel like it is okay to request the miners to do a rollback to take back what they lost, ultimately defeating the idea of blockchain and therefore crashing bitcoin's value big time.
6649  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why should bitcoin not perform now? on: March 23, 2020, 07:14:35 PM
You can't expect the world to adapt a currency in an instant without having to know the how's and the basics about bitcoin. While true to some extent that it has all the capacity to help the world in the crisis that we are currently experiencing, I don't think a lot of people know how it actually works, and would therefore be afraid to use it today. Add to the fact that there aren't enough merchants in the market ready to accept bitcoin as is, so that adds somehow to the equation as to why bitcoin isn't really performing really well when it fact, it should since it offers a lot of things in the table.
6650  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Pag usbong at pag babalik ng cryptocurrency. on: March 21, 2020, 03:42:31 PM
6651  Economy / Economics / Re: Corona has killed economy of many businesses on: March 21, 2020, 04:56:13 AM
Almost every business in the world currently is operating at a loss. Luckily we have a lot of caring business magnates donating for a cause despite losing millions every day due to the conditions offered by the pandemic. It might take a month or two before this pandemic is cleared on every coast, but til then the economy would suffer for a short while and hopefully recovers.

If there's one good thing this pandemic caused, it is that the world breathed quite a bit and carbon emissions were significantly reduced, apart from humanity working together for a common cause despite their political differences.
6652  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Anyone here succeeded a friend to play online gambling now that casino are close on: March 21, 2020, 03:42:36 AM
Not particularly crypto betting but at the least, I convinced my colleague to try and get some bets going in an online casino. I'm still persuading him to start on cryptocurrency casinos and make him drool of the bonuses and promotions (I'm playing slots and roulette in front of him using crypto casinos) and I'm yet to see a response from him. He's been enjoying the fun  playing on his laptop and hopefully he tries to play using cryptocurrency.
6654  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency fraud and scams on: March 20, 2020, 07:46:15 PM
Imagine seeing this so-called Project Covid-19 Crypto Coin

Do you think it's legitimate? Would you still invest in these types of projects?

This, perhaps wins the competition for greedy cunts taking advantage of a dire situation that is crippling the whole world right now. This is what's wrong with people nowadays: they'd try to make money off of literally everything and lost their sensitive and humane sides. Projects like this should be ignored, and should they get something out of the pockets of the general public, the ones in-charge should be reported for profiteering and scheming.

Serioualy, though, the whole cryptocurrency scene is plagued with scams and schemes that only loves to take people's money. Exercising caution against these type of projects ensure that you will not be duped by these nefarious beings.
6655  Economy / Economics / Re: Italian Bank offers Bitcoin Wallet Integration in their Online Platform. on: March 20, 2020, 06:59:28 PM
There goes my question on how would it be possible for the the technically-challenged people to utilize bitcoin in times of need in Italy. Though it may have sprouted on the toughest of times, it still is a great help and a move towards the right direction which is a way most traditional banks are scared to take. I just hope that the Italian government would not take this as a challenge against the traditional banking industry but rather see it as a different avenue and a novel approach in banking and finance.

With regards to the security, I'm sure this is well thought out, and that the wallet provider will be held liable should hacks arise and target the wallets. If that's the case, it should eliminate a layer of doubt about the saying 'not your keys, not your coin' which is still relevant to remembwr these days.
6656  Economy / Economics / Re: The Economy around the world will be very bad in April to May 2020!!! on: March 20, 2020, 06:20:34 PM
It may not be because of Ramadan per se but rather the on-going drought in different major markets around the world currently impacted by the pandemic. I do believe that the fear and panic is largely brought into the doorsteps of the uninformed, and this comes from a person who is not privileged in any way to live a comfortable life during these hard times, and in fact is in the front lines volunteering as a medical personnel. Then again, I do believe that fear-mongering is necessary in order to keep people inside their homes, else it could have gotten way worse than what we're having now.

As for Muslims observing Ramadan, I'm pretty sure they will be vigilant and be careful. While some will still religiously follow fasting without any regard to their health, most would certainly look after their health instead.
6657  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why there are so many people who get addicted on gambling? on: March 20, 2020, 05:47:08 PM
It is mainly the promise of jackpots that keep people from playing albeit losing huge amounts of money on gambling. They believe that one day, they will hit their luck and solve all their problems and pay for their luxuries in life. Gambling addicts aren't really playing for the entertainment anymore but rather the false and crooked hope of getting that evasive jackpot one day. Intervention at the earliest stages of addiction is better, and diverting an addict's attention away from gambling also works wonders.
6658  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it possible in may that a block of BTC will be mined for longer than 10min? on: March 20, 2020, 05:12:23 PM
Bitcoin mining is designed in such a way that even if a drastic drop in hash rate is to happen, the difficulty is adjusted accordingly so as to keep the average solving time to still be at 10 mins. We have had scenarios wherein the block takes longer than 10 mins to get solved and it happens on a daily basis, though again in a sudden shift of things nto the negative side of the spectrum, it could be worse. Then again, the math of it ensures that it gets as close to the 10 min mark as possible--in the long run, that is.
6659  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin trading by Italian Banks on: March 20, 2020, 04:38:46 PM
Not the best time to implement such. And this might even confuse merchants and citizens should it get recommended by their banks and/or authorities for purchase. Nevertheless though, at least they see the importance of bitcoin in times like this wherein physical cash is not viable for use by the public. Digital currencies excel in situations wherein physical contact should be limited, plus it saves a lot of time and effort as well. But then, knowing the general age of people in Italy, it might be long before they fully adapt bitcoin even though banks have somewhat initiated the interest kn the said digital currency.
6660  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin was $3,871 on this day - 1 year ago on: March 19, 2020, 09:16:13 PM
Looking back at the charts, historically March - May is usually the time wherein bitcoin performs poorly. Come June, everything seems to have a little vibe of redemption and hope since this is thw time wherein prices are really moving towards the positive direction. I might be claiming some nonesense in here but the charts and hostorical price data don't lie. Regardless of what world event there is, or how well the whole world's economy is doing, the first quarter of every year always bring disappointment to traders, and the second half of the year always brings excitement to the market as a whole.

I mean, just look at January - May 2016, then June 2016 to the wee months of 2017, as an example.
