He's awake. Phew.. thank god. And indeed, great job to the medical team(s).
6682  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: June 12, 2021, 05:06:46 PM
Christian Eriksen just collapsed on the pitch during the Denmark game. They're trying to revive him now but it's not looking good. He's been out for nearly ten minutes.
I am watching the game live and I am speechless, almost crying.

I was also watching the game. It looks bad and it is even worse that there are no news for so long time.  Angry
News agencies say nothing, twitter is "over capacity" on any search on the matter... if/when anybody has news, please share. (Although against the odds, I'm hoping for the best).
6683  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jack FOMOs on Bitcoin on: June 12, 2021, 03:54:49 PM
As for Taproot, think it is oversold

I'm not convinced it's oversold, I'd say it may be more related to the fact that although it's now locked in, it will come in use only in November.

, we need another serious push

I don't care what it is, but it would help me feel a bit more reassured, more comfortable if it happens within a month. Just to tell once more "bull run is not over yet"  Smiley
6684  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why some millionaires hate Bitcoin? on: June 11, 2021, 03:11:54 PM
Thoughts?

Being millionaire doesn't necessarily mean somebody is smart, understand tech and want common good.
Many are too old to understand Bitcoin.
Many have businesses related to banking system or gold, hence they'll be against Bitcoin.
Many trust kinda blindly on what other rich people (usually tied to central banks) told them.

Bitcoin markets are unregulated or poorly regulated and many will either fear that, either come against that.
Bitcoin is pretty easy to steal if somebody doesn't have the patience to learn about how to keep it safely.
Bitcoin allows tax evasion, allows hiding dirty money and so on.
Bitcoin is not perfect and some of these guys will not accept anything less perfect (as they understand that) than the banking system they already know and trust.

But don't worry. All these problems are temporary. We just need to go on. More and more people find the benefits of Bitcoin by every day passing by.
6685  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: My transaction has been unconfirmed for over 12 hours because of low fees on: June 11, 2021, 10:53:40 AM
Seems the transaction has been forgotten.
It doesn't make much sense though to drop this quickly when mempool isn't even full.

That's correct. The only scenarios that make sense to me and would make the transaction dropped this fast with current mempool state would be:
* the transaction was double spent (RBF)
* one of the parent transactions was unconfirmed and was double spent (RBF)

The only way I see is just generating tons of addresses until you get one nice looking, am I wrong?

It's called vanity address and there are applications that can do this for you. And if you don't want too long starting (vanity) part it can be done even with your own computer.
One such software doing this (from 2011!) is Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin addresses
6687  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How often do I shut down my laptop for mining? How long do you rest at a time? on: June 11, 2021, 08:26:22 AM
Can you give me some guidance if you know?

Imho the proper guidance should be: stop using laptops for mining.
Laptops don't handle well running 24/7, laptops may not have proper heat dissipation, all in all, laptops are not fit for mining. And you have a good chance to damage the laptop way before the ROI (PS. Did you calculate the electricity cost vs the income?)

All in all, I think that you're doing it wrong and you may have to ask for guidance in the altcoin mining section (I do hope that at least you don't try to mine Bitcoin with your laptop).
6688  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 11, 2021, 08:03:46 AM
I don't like the look of that last spike, might not mean people are moving wallet BTC to short on exchange, but something is up.

The price is moving, people started transacting again and.. the hash rate was falling yesterday by quite a lot.
6689  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Mining Council on: June 11, 2021, 07:19:53 AM
Did Marathon really turn 180 degrees out of the blue or this just a move to get more influence till they start again with their agenda?

There are 2 possible explanations:
1. As you said, maybe MARA is trying to become a strong voice, and for that it needs to stay calm for a while and gather friends.
2. The censoring of transactions was meant to be a commercial gimmick, just to attract some attention on them.

I don't know which is more likely, we clearly need to keep our eyes open. The history has shown that, with or without MARA, the big mining pools plotting working together may result in possible bad actions (see SegWit2x proposal).
6690  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: And now the IMF comes in! on: June 11, 2021, 06:53:07 AM
IMF are basically bankers and accountants. I wouldn't have big expectations from them.

El Salvador made a historic step forward. Of course that the established system tries to react and make the things harder. It would be wonderful if more countries would follow El Salvador bold move really soon; that could dilute/nullify whatever IMF is cooking.
6691  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jack FOMOs on Bitcoin on: June 11, 2021, 06:46:14 AM
If Bitcoin price grows, Jack is winning.
If Twitter is read even more, Jack is also winning.
And it costs Jack absolutely nothing.

I don't think that such a tweet alone can move the price though. But I don't know also what will be needed to move it further.
Some say it'll be the taproot lock in, but I think that even more is needed.
6692  Local / Română (Romanian) / Re: Cum vedeti voi investitiile in crypto? on: June 11, 2021, 06:27:09 AM

Daca a scazut, nasol.

6693  Economy / Economics / Re: Ransomware hacks linked to Crypto are killing Bitcoin slowly !! on: June 11, 2021, 06:13:20 AM
How many ransomware attacks have happened in the time there was internet and no cryptos, before 2010 let's say ?

In the past the ransoms were paid in cash. Internet has diversified the ways one can attack and ask for ransom, crypto made the money transfer faster. But ransoms did exist even before.
So imho still the internet is the one doing more "damage" than crypto...
6694  Economy / Economics / Re: Ransomware hacks linked to Crypto are killing Bitcoin slowly !! on: June 10, 2021, 12:59:54 PM
Cyber attacks linked to Crypto payments will ultimately lead to a "blanket ban" of all Crypto currencies

Well, they use the internet for this and I don't expect internet get killed/banned because of this.
What I mean is that although it could give some short term ammo to this or that bitcoin hater, on the long term all this won't matter and Bitcoin will prevail, maybe even get stronger.
And since bitcoin payments can be tracked, .. let them use Bitcoin. It'll help governments understand that Bitcoin is not that bad after all.
6695  Other / Meta / Re: Procedure For Uploading of image to the Forum on: June 10, 2021, 11:50:26 AM
You don't upload images to the forum. You upload to an image hosting website, like imgur.com and put here the link, either with the Insert Image button from the forum, either with "get share links -> bbcode" from imgur.
As an additional info, newbies cannot post images (you can, but they won't be visible) [exception: copper member], hence until one ranks up he/she has time to learn.
6696  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-06-06] Senators Urge Crackdown On Crypto As Ransom Payment After Gas Pipe, on: June 10, 2021, 11:16:08 AM
it actually wouldn't surprise me if one of these ghouls claimed "bitcoin has made god angry"

Of course it did! That's why there's a solar eclipse today (albeit partial), you didn't know?!
6697  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC tx outputs. I am trying to understand on: June 10, 2021, 10:50:37 AM
In one bitcoin transaction showing 2 outputs with different addresses, how do I know the wallet address of the recipient?  I guess I don't understand what the 2 addresses of the 2 outputs.  The 2 addresses are 2 public addresses of the wallet?  That doesn't make sense because the 2 addresses have different btc amounts.

If there are 2 outputs, then there are 2 recipients. As simple as that and basically that's all you know.
The fact that in reality there's a high chance that one of the recipients is the same or a different address in the sender's wallet, it's only a (rather small) detail.
If you know/expect that one of the addresses is the change address, then you can look for various other small details that can provide extra info:

* if one "recipient" address starts with the same character as the sender and the other doesn't, there's a good chance that the similar address is change address

* if one address received some pretty "round" amount (in BTC, or USD, or EUR, ..) then the other one may be the change address; also because many wallets don't do fee rounding, the recipient that got coins with more number of characters after the decimal point is probably the change wallet (because of the tx fee)

All these are assumptions based on common use, but most of the times they don't really give a 100% certainty.
6698  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-06-06] Senators Urge Crackdown On Crypto As Ransom Payment After Gas Pipe, on: June 10, 2021, 08:55:24 AM
This is bitcoin’s fault!

Nothing unexpected, really. Just scroll up and see my previous answer (post #5)  Wink

If you don't understand it, ban or regulate it. If these senators would have lived in the stone age, we would have now much better regulated fire and storms.
6699  Local / Română (Romanian) / Re: Crypto in Romania, adoptare si impozitare - care este varianta ta ideala ? on: June 10, 2021, 08:31:53 AM

Teoreric ar trebui reformat statul in asa fel incat:

6700  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much bitcoin was lost permanently? on: June 10, 2021, 08:03:59 AM
I mean mostly bitcoin which were not transferred for example 10 or 8 may be 6 years.

Some topics were already listed, however they will most likely not meet this "requirement" of yours.
I will only add that the fact that certain coins were not moved, it doesn't mean (at all) that they are lost.

Some can very well stay in someone's cold storage, especially the older exchanges'.
Others will be locked inside funded collectibles.
And these are only the first examples that came into my mind.
Imho the "not transferred" rule, although interesting, can give you greatly inaccurate results (although all the other ways to "count" such coins are also inaccurate).
