6701  Economy / Speculation / Re: When you win does someone else have to lose. on: April 09, 2019, 05:07:00 AM
Most short term trading is zero-sum game, not accounting for commissions and other trading fees.

The only type of investments that might not be zero-sum is maybe someone holding some long term stocks like with their retirement fund. With inflation stocks generally go up and so each investor if given enough time (and assuming the stock doesn't go bankrupt) they can sell at a profit.

But with Bitcoin, especially the futures market is zero-sum. You either make money or lose money. Hence this is why its called "Trading" because you are trading positions.
6702  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin posts seven consecutive weeks of gains on: April 09, 2019, 05:02:21 AM
It did have 7 candles of green however if you actually look at the candles, many of them are very small doji's and they could of easily ended up being "little negative" instead of "little positive".

Look at the candle for week of March 18th, the open was $3962 and close was $3966, so basically a $4 change. Same with the candle on Feb 25th week, it opened at $3733 and closed $3785, only a change slightly higher than 1%.

The way that last weeks candle closed, I am assuming we will get at least one more bull candle before some sideways action.
6703  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice.com | Creators of Dicing 🎲 | 29 Billion Bets | 112+ BTC Jackpot! on: April 08, 2019, 07:54:15 PM
Does the introduction of Stake, take anything away from Primedice or does it add to the overall value of the whole operation? Why did you not just add the good games in Stake to the Primedice platform?

I know "Primedice" is supposed to be the de facto dice site, but the new games in Stake would have been just at home there, than having to develop a whole new site?

Is it not more expensive to run two separate sites?

First of all, lets not forget primedice its the first dice site ever based on crypto, so its more like a legend, adding more games to it , would ruin his historic status, so thats why they made stake.com , to leave that legend as it is Smiley
I am sorry but primedice wasn't the first dice website, satoshidice was the first website but it was on chain and it even had a place on blockchain.info (now blockchain.com) and you could have just sent money there and they either repaid you back or they just hold it if you lost and it was like that.

Primedice is the first off-chain I can remember, either primedice or just-dice, I don't know which one came first, however if we are going to talk about active ones than satoshidice is long gone and just-dice turned into clams for legal reasons so for the oldest but most active bitcoin dice website we can definitely count primedice for sure. It has been around forever and it has created an amazing atmosphere for everyone who plays dice from day one.

You are correct it wasn't the first dice site. The first one was indeed Satoshidice and it was created by Eric Voorhees and he actually ended up selling it for somewhere in the 8 figures, it was the largest crypto sale to date. He went on to run Shapeshift later.

The site I think later on was resold again and rebranded and just the domain name only holds some value. Basically from the posts on Bitcointalk it is badly managed but the domain has a good history and will always bring in gamblers. I remember watching a Netflix documentary about Bitcoin and it even mentioned Satoshidice.

So there is proof that the first always isn't the best. It's no different than Apple products. They don't release the first products like the MP3 player or smartphone but when they released the iPod or iPhone they were revoluntionary kind of like Primedice is right now.
6704  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com 2 Just Launched! New games, updated design 💎💣🎰🎲♠️ on: April 08, 2019, 07:46:08 PM
Just suggestion

Is it possible if telegram giveaway is held at each chat room to minimize spammers and laggy

Each moderator responsible to their own chat room

Good suggestion, this might reach the mods, they check the thread most of the time.
Yeah chat has been one of the best features even as early as primedices first days (we can assume some people moved from there to here as well like me) and there is really a friendly talk there all the time, even though sometimes the talk is just way too fast and I can't really read it all at the same time from the speed let alone answer someone but in the end I could totally see myself not even gambling someday, just login and than talk with people there for a while and than leave.

Sometimes it is just a great place to connect with people and socialize with people who are about the same mindset as you, that is the great thing about the chat, many people are about the same people and have same mentalities on most subjects which makes it amazing to chat.

Chats and trollboxes used to be great back in the day. I remember Poloniex and Primedice chat was a great time to spend your free time. This was during the 2014-2015 days. Back then when a whale made a big win they usually tipped back their earnings to anyone that asked for it. It was full of friendly people and you also learnt lots about the gambling crypto community.

However after the 2017 bull rally when we went to $20K, the environment completely changed and it ended up being full of kid posts and harassment and people posting their "Lost all my money please donate for my family".

That's why Discord is more popular these days for various crypto related projects and maybe Slack for certain projects.

I think last week even Coinmarketcap added a trollbox and removed it shortly after because it was full of ads and scams.
6705  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin $10k Before June, Possible? on: April 08, 2019, 05:11:16 PM
Nobody knows what will happen. Anyone that makes a prediction is just guessing.

Markets travel in ways of least resistance where there is profit to be made. So when everybody bought in 2017 and were sitting on massive unrealized gains, the market went against them and took those gains away.

Same with the people who shorted when $5800 broke, they were sitting on large profits at $3100 and never took profit and are now most likely going to cover at break even. When that happens it might easily reverse and take out those traders who bought at $3100 or $2500 in May 2017 when the massive FOMO started.
6706  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What does "Boo" mean in terminal while mining? on: April 08, 2019, 05:04:29 PM
There are 2 reasons why you are getting "Boo",

First one means your GPU is way overclocked or has incorrectly modded memory straps and it's submitting wrong shares to the pool, however since you are on a Mac, you are most likely CPU mining and this isn't the issue.

Second one means you selected the wrong algo, and it found a share for a different algo than the one required. So you need to configure your BAT file and put in the correct parameters.

I don't think its a cost issue. These days they can host both sites on the same dedicated host and the design is not that expensive.

The reason why they didn't include more games on PD is like you said, they just wanted it to be "de facto dice" only site.

Alot of companies actually do this which want to keep brands separate even though they are the same manufacture. Look at auto companies like Hyundai for example. They got KIA, Hyundai and Genesis. Basically the KIA is the lowest tier, Hyundai is their mid-tier, and Genesis is their luxury brand. Why do they do this? They do it because it would affect sales of their Genesis brand if it was called Kia which is known as being a lower-tier. Take Mercedes for example. They used to be the king of the luxury world, every doctor or lawyer owned a Mercedes. However instead of separating their lower and higher end models by a different brand, they kept it the same. So someone buys a Mercedes A class and the owners of the Mercedes S class don't feel as special. And in the end, the higher end vehicle sales moved on to Land Rover instead.

Not the best comparion but this is more or less the reason why they wanted to go under a different brand.
6708  Economy / Speculation / Re: I SMELL FOMO on: April 06, 2019, 10:19:04 PM
Well according to Google trends, it has the 2nd highest interest since November 2018 crash. Since November was a bearish month, I think there was no FOMO there because people were scared to invest.

So maybe this will get the ball rolling and create another FOMO event. However I am thinking it will be a repeat of April 2018 where we got that $1000 day and then kept going higher and higher and higher, and everybody assumed we would hit $10K, and we came close but never broke above it.

It was a bad month because it was a huge bull trap and left many investors with huge losses when it went lower the following month later.

Either way, if history is to repeat itself then we should rally for at least 2 more weeks. Especially the alts like BCH and ETH.
6709  Economy / Speculation / Re: The market looks boring 2019 on: April 06, 2019, 10:00:07 PM
Generally when the markets are boring is usually the time to buy. I was around in late 2014 and middle of 2015 and it was crazy boring. I think Bitcoin during those days had maybe $5 range moves.

Everybody was giving up and calling it quits. People were shutting down their rigs and moving on. And then in August 2015 is when the yearly pivot broke and it got everyones attention again.

Maybe 2019 is a repeat of that year, only time will tell.
6710  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I Turned My Rigs Off... on: April 06, 2019, 09:51:59 PM
My rigs are slightly profitable also at the moment but they are still powered off. Basically making a nickel a day per GPU is just not worth the headache of keeping an eye on these rigs and having to do proper maintainance from time to time.

The main reason however is that I don't want the headache of running my GPUs and having a fan fail and then having to go thru the RMA process or buying some second hand replacement fans and having the GPU lose value.

I only have a few GPUs , if I had hundreds then I would obviously keep them running but at the moment just leaving them powered off.
6711  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How fast do prices of GPU's go down? on: April 06, 2019, 09:48:12 PM
GPU prices are actually very stable. Usually Nvidia GPUs and Intel based CPUs hold their value extremely well.

The higher end gpus like the 1080Ti however depreciate more than the mid-tier 1070 or so.

If you can manage to score a few 1070 from the second hand market and use it for 6-12 months, you might be able to resell them at break-even. Even if the crypto mining GPU market never recovers.

Only equipment that might lose value are risers. Those usually become useless once the crypto market dies but everything else will hold value.
6712  Economy / Gambling / Re: Win a Lamborghini for 0.00056 BTC on: April 06, 2019, 06:58:11 AM
I think they will continue going on until the money is collected, they can't just cut it short or have time frame because they need the money to be paid to them in order to buy the lambo anyway, I don't know if they will give the lambo away (would be costly overseas) or they are willing to just give bitcoin worth of it so they can be done with this in just one transaction but I am sure they would prefer the winner to get lambo literally so they can showboat about how it is real.

All the provably fair discussion aside the fact that they have such an insane house edge is just sad, I mean you could just drop the house edge insanely and still make a lot of profit and the time for the end of this lottery will be so much closer, even maybe today if they collected enough, no reason to postpone it just so they could have more money.

This was already discussed a few pages back and on the website. Basically they will not be buying a lambo and shipping it to the winner. They will buy the lambo in the winners country.

Due to regulations and how they vary from country to country it would be very difficult to get a Lambo registered in USA if it was a Euro spec model originally.

Also the prices of vehicles also vary country to country. A lambo might be cheaper in USA as compared to somewhere in Europe or Asia. So they are better off hoping that the winner will be located somewhere in North America and they get a larger house edge to keep for themselves.
6713  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sites of binary options bitcoin without registration on: April 06, 2019, 06:52:57 AM
Secondstrade sure brings back memories. That site was actually the longest running BTC binary option site out there. I think it featured the main BTCUSD pair along with some Forex pairs, maybe even metals. I am not sure.

The issue with the site was that it was completely on-chain and in 2017 it was a problem due to transaction fees. Another issue was that they were getting attacked from time to time with double spends. Basically a bad recipe. And if you add to the fact that some hacker lost some BTC on that website and ended up hacking their Bitcointalk account, its not a surprise they closed down.

Honestly I don't think there is any other Binary site out there which accepts BTC. The only one that comes to mind is the Bitmex up and down options they got at

https://www.bitmex.com/app/upsGuide
https://www.bitmex.com/app/downsGuide

Probably not what you are looking for but at least the exchange is legit and you won't get issues with withdraws.
6714  Economy / Speculation / Re: And back down to 4k :) on: April 06, 2019, 06:36:16 AM
I think we might head back down to $4K however right now the whales will make more money just by doing another suprise short squeeze to the $5500-$6000 area and liquidate the remaining shorts.

Looking at the order books on Bitmex, if you group it by $250 units you will see that there is $183,000,000 buy orders all the way to $4500. However looking at the ask side there is $100,000,000 all the way up to $5500 so at $5000 its equally distant but not equally distributed.

And looking at past $6000, there are very little sell orders. So if there is a massive short squeeze with many $10,000,000 market buy orders then price should head up very quickly.
6715  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Are you mining Ethash or Grin? on: April 06, 2019, 06:31:22 AM
Meh, I've been thinking about powering up my mining rig once again, but Summer is coming so idk if it's even worth trying at this point. Might check out the XMR mining and give that a little try.

It has reached the point where you no longer are mining at a loss so you don't need to mine to heat your house to offset costs.

Basically as long as you got a basement or a garage then it shouldn't be an issue, especially with XMR. There are some people who have managed to get each GPU to use around 100 watts and it creates very little heat as compared to ETH mining.

You can also buy a 4U server chassis and put 6 GPUs inside and just vent the exhaust outside, or if you got a laundry room just create a Y adaptor and vent the heat there.

6716  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Are you mining Ethash or Grin? on: April 06, 2019, 06:02:00 AM
Due to the recent price increases the most profitable coin if you got the RX AMD GPUs is XMR on Cryptonite R algo.

Basically you should get like 1000H/s using like 120 Watts from the wall, depending on your electricity costs you can clear around a quarter of profit per day. So if you got a rig full of 4 GPUs, you make $1.

If price can double then we should be able to almost make $1/day/gpu however I am guessing that the problem then will be the increased difficulty.
6717  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: April 06, 2019, 05:54:03 AM
ETH is looking slightly weaker than BTC or LTC. But as long as we can stay above the $165 area which is the yearly resistance and prior year support, then we are in good shape.

I think unless BTC itself goes parabolic again and we get a BGD with another $1000 gain then ETH won't move past $200 anytime soon.

Really surprised that even BCH is outpacing the ETH price. No idea what is dragging it down, maybe its the ICOs selling their ETHs.
6718  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com 2 Just Launched! New games, updated design 💎🎰🎲♠️ on: April 04, 2019, 06:27:30 AM
I agree to you buddy this guy has a huge amount of money that why he can play small odds he/she is so lucky to hit this profit hmmm for those who have a small capital then start to high odd to make your chances of winning high.
That is why the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer with their decisions.
The rich tend to be careful with their money, their decisions, odds (in gambling) because even small percent of profits per their capital worths lot of things (huge profits, instead).
The poor tend to be taking higher risks because they have small capital, they want to win huge money, then gambling with high odds.
Anyway, I congratulate for the big win of that above guy.

This is not necessarily true when it comes to gambling or trading. Even if you got a million dollars you can still lose money if you don't know what you are doing.

I know a few friends personally who started to invest in the stock market in 2009 after the markets crashed. One guy had like $2000 and another guy had $50000, both of them lost their entire accounts in roughtly the same amount of time.

The guy with the $50K just took larger position sizes and emotion and greed caused him to lose it all.

The rich do get richer because they usually invest their money in safe assets such as opening a business or buying real estate. Those usually almost always generate an income and only the rich can do that because they have lots of capital sitting around. While the poor work for somebody and have mortgages.
6719  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PASL]-[PASCAL Lite]-[The Future is Almost Here] on: April 04, 2019, 06:11:05 AM
Sorry for the long delay but here is the current progress of our coin at the moment.

As previously mentioned we want to move away from the PASCAL programming language to Golang, and our node code is currently ready as an alpha release,
https://github.com/pasl-project/pasl

Integrated travis continuous integration and coveralls tests coverage metrics
Current build status https://travis-ci.org/pasl-project/pasl
Tests coverage https://coveralls.io/github/pasl-project/pasl

We are also working on getting the main post in our ANN fixed since most of the info is outdated and broken graphics, please stand by.

Thanks for all your loyatly and support and unfortunately Cryptopia is still the only exchange and currently trading is still halted after the exchange shutdown due to the theft. We hope they enable trading soon.

No PASL were moved out of Crytopia wallet. Hope they can allow us to withdraw the coin they owned. Cryptopia holds 4.5mil PASL. What if they lost the key of that wallet? Sad

I don't think they lost the key of that wallet. The bigger issue is that they really haven't provided much info, especially why they only are allowing certain coins to trade but I suspect that the theft was an inside job and the thief might have private keys to many coins including PASL.

Hence they will need to use a new Cryptopia wallet, they can still use the #5 address but they need to switch wallets to a new private key.

Since they have hundreds of coins on that exchange, doing this would probably take months and no idea when they will resume trading on PASL. I suspect they will go in order of importance or volume traded.

6720  Economy / Gambling / Re: Win a Lamborghini for 0.00056 BTC on: April 04, 2019, 06:06:54 AM

Well you picked a good time to do the promo since BTC finally started rallying a couple of days ago.

I think with Bitcoin back on the mainstream news and this press coverage you should eventually sell enough tickets. However I don't think 1 month will be enough time and like a previous poster mentioned it might take between 3-6 months to sell enough tickets to have enough funds to purchase the car.

Lambo and Bitcoin were always a meme and should generate press coverage easily. Wait until BTC breaks $6K and then go advertise on /reddit/Bitcoin and you should get a surge of entries.

Good luck.
