Manchester City is the favourite to qualify to the next round and they have the capacity, good team and coach to do that. But one thing about Manchester City is that no matter how good they are in the English premier league, they cannot be trusted in the Champions League. If not for last season they managed to reach finals and lost it because of coach experiment. Other years they use to be eliminated exactly at this stage. So Manchester City need to be more careful and ensure they score a lot of goals that is what is going to save them. I think the fixtures of this round of the UEFA champion's league is easy to point the teams to qualify except for the the Madrid Vs Chelsea fixture and that of ATM Vs Manchester City. A tie can go in anyone's favor in that Madrid—Chelsea game, it is going to be 50 - 50. On paper, it look like City are better than Atletico madrid owing to the fact that Atlético Madrid's LaLiga title defence have been weak this season to be honest, but of recent they have looked their old selves knocking out Manchester United and that really came off as a shock to many. I think Manchester City should be wary of Atletico and I trust Guardiola would have try to figure out how to beat Diego Simeone this time around.
Like we always say, this is football anything can happen and as long as the clubs maintain a stable standard gaining points won't be a thing to worry about. The English league has it's unique style and Athletico might not match up to City For Chelsea's match against Real Madrid the first leg performance will decide what should be expected. It might be look like an equal chance for both team but for me Madrid has a higher chance in the game. Champions League 2020/2021 season Chelsea managed to beat Real Madrid 2-0 at Stamford Bridge so that Chelsea managed to qualify because at the Santiago Bernabeu they got a 1-1 draw based on head to head in the UCL. This season will look different and it is still difficult to predict who will advance to the semifinals. Even so, I believe Real Madrid will qualify. Chelsea's chance to qualify is still there by not letting Real Madrid dominate possession.
I think even though this happened a few years ago but this cannot be used as a reference because indeed they are now in a different phase and Chelsea may be more difficult now because their internal problems have not been resolved properly until now. Madrid, on the other hand, are underdogs but after beating PSG in the previous round they look promising now indeed it happened a few years ago. but the Chelsea squad that beat Real Madrid at that time, nothing changed with the current squad. So I'm sure Chelsea will repeat the history of the past few years. because real Madrid's current performance is not the best even though they can beat psg but it's a lucky win. The only thing that has changed for Chelsea is the fact that the club owner is facing a lot of sanctions from the Russian Ukraine invasion which also have affected the club's ability to sign new players and if there is no new signing the club may not be able to meet up with future demands.
