6701  Other / Meta / Re: [Proposal] sort topics by merit users stat on: February 24, 2018, 10:01:07 AM
I think that is a terrible idea, and would lead to spammers getting priority
6702  Other / Meta / Re: Ban on: February 24, 2018, 09:54:48 AM

6703  Other / Meta / Re: I've started to report necro-bumps, and put bumpers on ignore on: February 24, 2018, 09:48:55 AM
I'm wondering why aren't the inactive threads auto locked and moved to archive? For example some threads which don't have new replies for maybe over a year should be locked and moved to archive.
But there are legitimate reasons for posting comments to old threads. Some have already been mentioned here. I would therefore instead suggest implementing a restriction based on user rank. I’m thinking that would at least take care of newbie throwaway accounts posting garbage in dead threads.

Auto-locking sounds like a good idea. If this was done, then you wouldn't need to archive the thread.

I can think of no good reason why an old thread should be  bumped. Most forums suggest that the approved method of adding updated comments to an old thread is to link to it, and post the updated information in a new thread. This saves readers from scanning through a load of outdated posts tht are no longer relevant.
6704  Other / Meta / Re: Shitposter that needs banning - btcholak on: February 23, 2018, 07:03:29 PM
Well I've put him on ignore anyway.
6705  Other / Meta / Re: How to know the potential activity of my account ??? on: February 23, 2018, 04:09:29 PM
So are you saying you want to increase rank so that you can sell your account?
6706  Other / Meta / Re: The reality is 99.9% members can never rank up with the new merit system. on: February 23, 2018, 04:07:46 PM
You posted the correct answer - no.

Also you need to stop being lazy, and read some of the threads before posting. Have some consideration for the other members here.
6707  Other / Meta / Re: The reality is 99.9% members can never rank up with the new merit system. on: February 23, 2018, 03:33:11 PM
Merits are not given out because most posts are crap. I ran a plagiarism check on one post by a newbie, and this is what I got.

6708  Other / Meta / I've started to report necro-bumps, and put bumpers on ignore on: February 23, 2018, 02:57:44 PM
A necro-bump is the bumping of a very old thread with a worthless post. It messes up the boards, and doesn't contribute anything. At the moment I'm giving away merits for up to ten posts per day, and if I put you on ignore, then you won't get any merit from me ever. I've also started to report these bumps, so you may end up on the radar of the moderators.
6709  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin price is going up now. Why? what going on? i need 411 please. on: February 23, 2018, 02:49:42 PM
Why have you bumped this old thread with your rubbish comment.

I've put you on ignore, so no merit from me ever, and I've reported it as a necro-bump.
6710  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: An open letter to the forum administration from newbie on: February 23, 2018, 02:34:18 PM
The merit system was designed to keep posters like you away from the main boards, and I did take the trouble to translate a couple of them.

Allowing merit to be bought would turn the forum into a brothel imho.
6711  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: STOP! TO ALL FELLOW NEWBIES AND JR. MEMBERS on: February 23, 2018, 02:25:32 PM
Please stop using capital letters in titles and posts. We don't like people shouting at us.
6712  Other / Meta / Re: The reality is 99.9% members can never rank up with the new merit system. on: February 23, 2018, 02:16:51 PM
I'm a Bitcoin user, and not a bounty hunter, so I don't care about those boards. In fact I hope they will be shut down so that we can have our forum back.
6713  Other / Meta / Re: The reality is 99.9% members can never rank up with the new merit system. on: February 23, 2018, 01:02:34 PM

From what I've seen, meta is the only forum where people are willing to give out merit. No one in the altcoin forums is willing to use it. I've made numerous posts that have gotten "thank you" replies, but no one has clicked the button yet. Then I come in here and I see people giving it out left and right just for sharing an opinion or being well known.

I dunno, I'm just extra salty because the system was put in to place like a week before I was supposed to rank up to full member so now I've got a lot more work to do to get there. Just need to find the right places to post I guess.

I had a quick look at your recent post history, and most of it seems to have been on the alt boards. There are quite a few of us who don't visit those boards, and thus we don't award merit there.
6714  Other / Meta / Re: Merit... For what?? on: February 23, 2018, 12:53:29 PM
Hi there!! Do you heard about merit??  What's it for??

Merit is for people who are assets to the community. They start useful threads, they know how to read, and they aren't too lazy to read threads, and who help other members with their replies.

The ignore button is for people like you who don't contribute anything of value, clutter the boards, and are too lazy to correct their typing errors.
6715  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I need merit... on: February 23, 2018, 10:38:57 AM
I have made a post with almost 300 replies now and still no merit my brother sent me 10 but how cani get more im trying to rank up quick somebody help me out please and thank you

I'm adding you and your brother to my merit abuse gallery, and putting you both on ignore, so no merit from me in the future.
6716  Other / Meta / Re: I've still got 80 sMerit to give away. on: February 23, 2018, 10:08:17 AM
I'm sitting upstairs in McDonalds with a coffee ( black with a touch of bicarbonate of soda in it ), and an egg and bacon roll. The sun is shining on me, and I'm feeling generous.

Now how many merits can I award before I finish my coffee? Smiley

I'm adding a legendary and his brother to my merit abuse gallery. The legendary awarded 10 merits to his brother for an indifferent post.
6717  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Project of renewed merit allocation system on: February 22, 2018, 09:52:08 PM
These threads are becoming really tiresome, and I hat stupid great images that contribute nothing to the post.

Another one to ignore.
6718  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin core doesnt see existing blockchain on: February 22, 2018, 07:20:41 PM
Just a small tip to anyone copying their blockchain onto another drive. Make sure that you spell the directory correctly. I had a bit of a hiccup when I was setting up my Linux node. I'd spelt Bitcoin with a capital "B" instead of lower case ( or the other way round). I ought to know better after all the years I've been in computing. Smiley
6719  Other / Meta / Re: Good posts not rewarded with merits. on: February 22, 2018, 07:11:11 PM
There's definitely not enough merit to go around, but every thread I visit is overflowing with padded shitposts in garbage, broken English.

Quote
You have 44 sendable merit (sMerit) which you can send to other people.

I've got the sMerit, but I don't see the posts. I don't award merit to people asking me to review their posts either, so please don't pm me, or post links for me to look at. I may put you on ignore if you do.

If we could stop all the crap posts, and tired old thread bumps, then I might have a chance of finding some posts to reward.
6720  Economy / Speculation / Re: Just bought BTC for 50% discount. How to celebrate with guaranteed profits!?!? on: February 22, 2018, 06:31:03 PM
I suspect that you may have bought too soon. It looks as if we are still in the middle of a bear trend.
