6721  Other / Meta / Re: Whats the point of this website? on: May 01, 2021, 06:21:02 PM
It is because this forum is a bitcoin forum. But you can still see few discussions about altcoins and some other boards like economy, trading, politics and society.

To know more about bitcoin, you can gain knowledge from this forum, which is the main point of this forum, but it is not limited to only bitcoin, visit other boards too to know that.
6722  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Will crypto debit cards work even in restricted country? on: May 01, 2021, 02:50:12 PM
I am looking for debit card which can be topped with cryptos and to be used in India ATMs and POS.
I checked most debit card providers in crypto space, none offers services to India.
Are you sure? So far you are making use of Binance and that cryptocurrencies not yet banned in India, you should be able to make use of credit card (Visa Master card) for deposit and withdrawal.

Binance support INR (India Rupee), you can deposit directly into you bank this way, also you can buy bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies this way.

You still make use of p2p, but be careful because there are people that are looking for whom to scam. Use you normal bank for it, check your bank for payment not text message from bank, and do mot release bitcoin from escrow if you have not seen payment on your bank account balance. If the seller did not send in time, contact customer care about the issue as fast as possible.

Know that you may not be able to buy from bank ATM or POS directly, but you can buy using your credit card.
6723  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Who used these services? on: May 01, 2021, 02:38:34 PM
Who used these services?

coinpayments.net

Can you trust them? Since I want to integrate accepting payments through them, isn't this a scam?
I too have known Coinpayment wallet for long now, they are one of the trusted wallet that is providing custodial service. It is highly recommended and it used by many trusted big companies, generating a time stamp invoice for payment.

But it is custodial, and I prefer noncustododial wallets like electrum, but if you have a company and need ways your customers can generate invoice and pay into your address, you can make use of it.

You may feel a bit difficult in the beginning because often the google listens our words but interpret them wrong so we have to manually clear some mistakes too.
this is the reason why i dont use the voice function in my phone and it will take time because you need to pronounce slowly for the phone to recognize what your saying while its faster if you can type the words coming out from your head  .
That can be true before, but not true again, the Android version of the Gboard that I used in 2019 to 2020 were 95% accurate, but I updated my Android phone recently with 1.8 gigabyte space used which I believe it is a new Android OS possibly. A lot has being changed on Android with the dark mode used now. The Gboard is 100% accurate. Only characters are the ones not yet included except full stop, it will write even faster than you thought, and 100% accurate. Yet I am not from native English speaking country, but 100% accurate as you speak it writes exactly what you are speaking. Try to get the latest Android version and see it is different from 2015 or some past time.
6725  Other / Off-topic / Re: Posting by Speaking on: May 01, 2021, 06:48:44 AM
If you're on an Android device: probably search "speech to text" on the Android Play store.
This speaking-to-writing feature as been on the android for as long as I can remember, since long time ago, the latest Android devices text speech is very more accurate without getting any of the spoken text wrongly. All the person needs to do is to press on the microphone symbol at the top right hand corner of the keep board, then speak as the Gboard will be writing exactly the words you are speaking.

6726  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there any site that show what % transaction is the current transactions fees? on: April 30, 2021, 09:37:11 PM
You question is not clear at all. Did you mean a wallet that can automatically estimate the transaction fee? Like taking bitcoin transaction as an example.

Feerate= sat/vbyte

Feerate= fee/vbyte

Fee= feerate/vbyte

Are you asking about a wallet that after the feerate is determined, that can then automatically estimate the fee to be paid? So that the person will be able to know the exact bitcoin to be paid as fee.
6727  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how are instant bitcoin transactions done? on: April 30, 2021, 03:45:48 PM
Why is this happening. There must also be a difference of at least 10 minutes between the blocks.
If high fee is paid that can get bitcoin transaction confirmed in the next block, but bitcoin transaction confirmation are not instantly, it do take 10 minutes in average, the algorithm was just set in a way it should mine new block in approximately every 10 minutes and get transactions confirmed along, but that does not mean transactions is exactly 10 minutes. Even to be surprising, the next block can take 30 minutes at times, or might take less than 2 minutes at times. So, if you see a bitcoin transaction that is confirmed before 2 minutes, do not be surprised.

This is basically because you are offering a higher incentive for miners to include your transaction in the next block.
Maybe OP made a transaction that got confirmed before 10 minutes, and we know that next block at times can take less than 2 minutes. Maybe OP paid high fee, and his transaction was included in the next block, and take less than 2 minutes (or far less than 10 minutes before it was confirmed), which is very possible.
6728  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why bitcoin investment is better than Ponzi scheme on: April 30, 2021, 02:56:24 PM
<...>
Bitcoin and Ponzi scheme are two things entirely, everything about bitcoin is completely transparent, unlike Ponzi that have hidden side, but hidden side which will be reveal when no new investors coming in such a way no money will be generated to pay last investors that invested into such scheme, leading them to lost great amount of money. Ponzi can never be successful but bitcoin was able to be successful because it is completely transparent, and yet deflationary in design, nobody will like to miss during bull run, and yet deflationary. if investors can be patient, they will not lose.

People mainly invest in ponzi scheme because if greed as they always promise high return in the least amount of time.
Sowm people will not know but out of ignorance, Ponzi scheme can be selling fake products, or offering fake services just to let investors to think it is a good business, but it will be underneath that Peter money is used to pay Paul, that no product they are selling and no service they are rendering. That is why people need to make proper research before getting into any business because many can be Ponzi schemes.

6730  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin Cryptocurrency Equivalent to USD Most Stable on: April 30, 2021, 12:22:48 AM
What do you think? and how you can find the most stable coin?
No coin is stable, they are only pegged with fiat, and fiat are not stable but controlled by central authority which are the governments, the central bank specifically.
6731  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to Secure Our Wallet to Prevent Being Hacked! on: April 29, 2021, 09:22:59 PM
Metamask does support Bitcoin but it require some technical elaboration and it done through BEP2.0 (BSC) integration.
About myerherwallet have once seen a buying Bitcoin option on it but I never try it out so I don't if support it or not.
BEP2:- Binance Chain
BEP20:- Binance Smart Chain (BSC)

I believe you meant BSC (BEP20)

But the normal bitcoin we meant is the one that its addresses starts from 1, 3 or bc1 which makes use of bitcoin blockchain for its storage and ledger, not a smart contract.
6732  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Virters understand that some virtual assets can be hard assets. on: April 29, 2021, 08:44:19 PM
Actually my main reason for starting this thread was the result of my having picked up http://Virters.com , and I was wondering if I had a chance of using that to describe a class of investor. It could be a good chance to explain the unique advantage of Bitcoin.
Having such domain will be good, but I think there are many other ways to promote bitcoin, like what Microstrategy CEO do say about bitcoin and the reason it can not be compared to other assets like gold (that bitcoin will be superior), that bitcoin have just limited supply, the reason of the possibility of its price growing further in the future. Bitcoin is bitcoin, although could be a virtual asset, but its intrinsic value makes it superior to even physical assets.
6733  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Storing bitcoin offline, are these steps secure? on: April 29, 2021, 08:31:17 PM
Here I think it's a better idea (although not sure if it's as safe as storing public keys) to store the pubkey which is basically the access key to all public addresses you own on that seed. Rather than copy-pasting hundreds/thousands of lines, you just import that one instead.
Never mind this, you are right but just more clarification.

A public key is associated to an address, all addresses have their own public key which was even used during when public keys yet not have public key hash (addresses), and P2PK is the payment method as of the time. But, I understand what you meant, the master public key, whch can be used to generate all the addresses a wallet can generate is what you meant.

What I think the OP want is to hold, and I think copying first 20 addresses is enough which might even still be too much.
6734  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would having a Debate like: Bitcoin vs Gold win more crypto investors on: April 29, 2021, 07:45:01 PM
I do not know about the debate to bring or not to bring investors or more users to buy crypto, but I am sure that bitcoin marketcap will one day surpass gold marketcap. I am not comparing, it is just a reality to come true. Although, it can take years or decades.
6735  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Transaction fees: send or wait on: April 29, 2021, 04:48:43 PM
I didn't want to be overly optimistic and say 1 sat/vByte, but I do expect to fall under 5 sat/vByte anyway.
This will still depends on mining hashes in relation to how congested the mempool is, normally before the whole thing of reduced mining hashes, 5 sat/vbyte were not even getting confirmed as usual as before, even during weekends, I remembered the last time 5 sat/vbyte transaction getting confirmed exactly on the Easter celebration day. After that day, the mempool was not so not less congested to confirm a transaction getting approximately below 10 sat/vbyte. Before the Easter day, the last time transaction with a feerate below 5 sat/vbyte get confirmed were in February and a time before. The mining hashes with the mempool congestion when bitcoin reached $50000 has not being getting less than 5 sat/vbyte transactions confirmed easily.

There is nothing that can not happen, and your guess can be right, but I think transaction below 5 sat/vbytes may be yet be stuck in the mempool for long as transactions around 10 sat/vbyte or slightly lower are the lowest even getting confirmed even on weekends like on Sunday before the whole mining hashes drop in China due to the blackout you mentioned above. So, the recent mining difficulty adjustment may not still necessary result into 5 sat/vbyte and more lower transaction to get confirmed easily even during weekends. Although, just an assumption.
6736  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria Local Board {Official language, Pidgin} on: April 29, 2021, 06:25:00 AM
I never use am before..
For binance sheer? Him need verified account, I never get national ID  Grin
I wanted to help you out before, but I have noticed you have seen a seller.

Know that binance do not require any nation ID or such tedious verification before you will be able to use p2p, all you need to do is to snap yourself to have a verified account.

But, for more privacy, you can still come here next time and request for such, that is he reason we are here together.
6737  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Storing bitcoin offline, are these steps secure? on: April 28, 2021, 11:31:56 PM
Is important to mention that you don't need an online service like bitaddress to generate a private key, it would be more secure if you download vanity gen and create the address on an offline pc. Even you can do this under Linux running on a live USB, that way there will not trace once you reboot the pc.
If you implied using paper wallet can be an uneasy way for people that do not know much about bitcoin, that would have been better, but for people that know how it works, it can still be used safely if run offline.

Never trust online sites to generate bitcoin addresses, even if you do it offline they could pre-generate it when you open the site.
I understood what you meant here, that paper wallet sites should not be trusted. But, bitaddress is still recommended, but should not be used online but offline. The source is on GitHub, so you can run it offline completely. It's sorce code is completely available on GitHub, did you see anything malacious when you checked it? I guess No. So, why are you implying it could pre-generate private key which I believe its what you meant, it can not.

Only close source will have such malacious codes that could pre-generate private key or seed phrase that people will not know, not open source like bitaddress.org.
6738  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Storing bitcoin offline, are these steps secure? on: April 28, 2021, 09:20:48 PM
3. Open bitaddress.org
Why don't you run the source offline instead.

Generate BTC keys, save as PDF
Why don't you have it offline instead on paper. You should be careful of PDF that do synchronize online.

6. Archive and encrypt the file with WinRar (including file name and attributes encryption), using more than 14 letter password
There is an encryption while using paper wallet, BIP38 passphrase.

10. Password will be stored in the memory (in the brain) by several people (family).
Know that the brain is not 100% certain in remembering paswords as you want to hodl.

Know that you can generate offline wallet using wallet like electrum, just make sure your device is airgapped, generate the seed phrase offline, you can include passphrase as a way to extend the seed phrase. Get yourself address(es). You can even import the address on an electrum online wallet to make it watch-only, but deleting the wallet from the offline airgapped device after wallet creation, you will be using the watch-only wallet to track transactions. But, if you like it this way, do not lose your seed phrase and passphrase if included, to be able to recover back the wallet when you want to spend from it. You can not spend from watch-only wallet.
6739  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Transaction fees: send or wait on: April 28, 2021, 04:53:13 PM
The mining difficulty that will be adjusted will really help, but I noticed the mempool has being getting less congested, it even gotten to the extent the fee of 17 sat/vbyte were getting confirmed recently, and some blocks are mined even less than 2 to 3 minutes in such time (I noticed this yesterday and today). The mining hashes have being increasing compared to some days ago which means the miners are getting back to work or some new miners are substituting. But, you are very correct, if 20 sat/vbyte transactions can get confirmed today, if the mining difficulty is adjusted over the weekend which will be adjusted to compensate the remaining reduced mining hashes, more possibly the mempool will be less congested to the extent 10 sat/vbyte transaction (or even maybe less) could get confirmed.
6740  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: old electrum.dat cant open on newer version on: April 28, 2021, 11:30:08 AM
If you backup the seed phrase, then you can import the seed phrase on the new electrum version.

i have an old electrum.dat and newer versions will not run
Likely the wallet file is corrupt. What is the error message?

If having antivirus on your computer, try to first disble it and see if the wallet file will work.
