6721  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is anyone becoming a billionaire from Bitcoin? on: October 12, 2017, 11:28:15 AM
403BTC is the equivalent of 2 million USD with the current rates so why list him as a billionaire on the first place? The Winklevoss Twins got 60 million USD from the Facebook settlement and probably invested everything on bitcoin in the early days. I believe they own 1% of all the coins and they are currently running Gemini exchange so they probably have more then that (they were millionaires before bitcoin) and to answer OPs question, no, the only billionaire would be the creator of bitcoin but multi millionaires has been made for sure. This could happen to any of us, If you invest enough now and forget about it for a few years.
6722  Economy / Exchanges / Re: fund bittrex with US dollars? on: October 11, 2017, 06:33:21 PM
Usually, the only pairs available for USD or any other fiat currency are for ETH, LTC and BTC so It's better to buy bitcoin in a site and send them to trade for almost every altcoin in either Bittrex or Poloniex. So, some alternatives are: Bitstamp and Bitfinex, both are reputable and you shouldn't face any issues while buying.

6724  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Unofficial] Exodus Wallet | Multi-Currency | Built-in Exchange on: October 11, 2017, 01:52:58 PM
Is there a date when Eden will be officialy released (not just an alpha or beta)?

Eden will never get officially released because It was never meant to be for average users. It's more for testing and reporting bugs. In other words, whatever you currently see in Eden will eventually come to Exodus as well.
6725  Other / New forum software / Re: Beta.bitcointalk.org is back to work on: October 11, 2017, 12:25:47 PM
I have no idea why we need a new forum site, could we login using the same pass and username? though it is still not implemented to worry about. I think the problem is simple the site is full. Am I right?

The database will remain the same basically and everything you have including your ranks, PMs, posts etc. will stay. The only thing that will change will be the interface and some new features will come (2FA as an example).
6726  Economy / Exchanges / Re: How do I get my coins out of coinbase onto coinigy? on: October 10, 2017, 06:15:28 PM
I haven't used the service but from my understanding, you don't really deposit anything there. Coinigy is like All-in-one trading platform so you basically make an account there and link your exchange accounts (Bittrex, Poloniex etc.) and the balances should show up there, the linking should happen through an API key so you should first check If they support Coinbase, If they don't, move your funds to an exchange they do support and link it by generating an API key from that ex change.
6727  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Xapo announces position on Segwit2x fork on: October 10, 2017, 05:07:14 PM
The miners can be replaced but the community and developers cannot be. Compared to core, their software is not even well tested and has no recent commits. Whoever took the decision to support X2 either made a huge mistake or is intentionally attacking bitcoin. 25% of SegWit2X supporters already withdrawn and I expect to see more in the next few weeks. In the same time, we have exchanges that will list it as B2X like Bitfinex. In other words, they can support it as much as they want to but the final results will be the same as Bitcoin Cash.
6728  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin gold and Bitcoin Segwit2X HF on: October 10, 2017, 02:57:00 PM
Bitcoin Gold will start oct 25 but we know Bitcoin Segwit2X HF in november. So is it same or not?

It's not the same project, the developers and services behind each one of them are different. I don't support 2X but Bitcoin Gold is far from being anything serious, there is not even enough info about it.

1. It should stop whatever you were doing inside the chrome application and exit. If not plugging out directly was too important, they would've warned the users.
2. I believe It's not possible.

6731  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Blockchain - limit on: October 10, 2017, 12:37:11 PM
Hi guys, I got a question kind of related to this...

A friend of mine got some bitcoins a few years back, now he told me he can't operate with his old laptop (hard disk capacity issues, I guess he can't dowload the whole blockchain, and I say I guess cause I started reading about bitcoins just yesterday, to try to help him with his issue).

Question is, he needs to buy another pc, and the new one will have 2 hard drives (ssd 120gb for the apps and s.o. and another one 1TB). Is it possible to download your wallet and operate with bitcoins in the bigger 1TB HD? or you just have to use the s.o. hard drive, meaning 120 GB will be too little HD space?

thanks for your help
pablo

If your friend simply wants to send/receive bitcoins then downloading the whole blockchain is not necessary, he could download a lightweight wallet such as Electrum. If he wants to run a full node however, then 120GB is small and won't suffice him, assuming that he is going to install Bitcoin Core for that matter, he could change the location for the folder that goes to the AppData folder by default to his 1TB HDD.
6732  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin can hit 5000$ before november?? on: October 10, 2017, 11:52:34 AM
In my opinion, the price of Bitcoin will breakout this target soon. I remember when the price of Bitcoin increased to $4,900 in last month, it had passed this price and keep in few hours on Chinese exchange, but of course it had dumped by the FUDs after that.

The community is no longer afraid of hard forks so FUD may no longer work in this kind of situations. Forks are now seen as a way to get more free coins (Bitcoin Cash before and now BitcoinGold and B2X) and this explain the sudden demand and the price increase that we are currently seeing.
6733  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: the difference between bitcoin trading and forex trading on: October 10, 2017, 11:06:18 AM
Forex trading is more stable compared to bitcoin and It also take more time in order to make profit and an initial investment while that's the not the case for crypto in general since you could earn much more money in a small period of time (as you could lose) and also the ability to invest as low as you want (a few dollars up to thousands or millions). If I had to choose, I'd go with crypto any time.
6734  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: October 10, 2017, 07:14:40 AM
That's just stupid. How can Mycelium, one of the most used BITCOIN wallets, prefers to focus on integrating Bitcoin Cash and Dash (?) instead of adding Segwit support? This + all the russian ICO bullshit are two of the main reasons why I'm uninstalling the app and starting to use Samourai for my mobile transactions.

The site for Samourai wallet still says Alpha access so you may want to think twice before using it. It's not about Mycelium staff being a serious team of developers or not, It's about funding. If they actually got the necessary funding from MT and they spent them on vacations etc. as some news sites claim, then we should except developers dropping the project soon as they will no longer be paid.
6735  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin to Bitcoin Cash Address on Kraken.com on: October 09, 2017, 03:02:50 PM
The funds are lost forever sadly, some exchanges (not the case for Kraken I presume) only offer recovering If the amount is big (and that's not the case here either) and you should also pay a fee against it.
6736  Economy / Economics / Re: Prediction: Everyone Will Have 100+ Sources of Income Within 10 Years on: October 09, 2017, 02:26:08 PM
Steemit is far from being anything well designed, the concept of Synereo is definitely good however no results has been seen until now but yeah the decentralization and what projects like MaidSafe and StroJ could make people earn are definitely encouraged but I doubt that income will be easy to make people not go to their jobs etc. only helps as an extra.
6737  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what makes you trust a company in this industry? on: October 09, 2017, 11:55:06 AM
The trust in the crypto world is harder because transactions are irreversible, If you make it, there is no going back. It's better to do your home work about the company then try them. At this point, It's the same services that are popping up (exchanges or mixers etc.) so why use a new service in the first place If nothing better is offered such as low fees etc and If you are skeptical, just wait sometime and see reviews and feedback from users, It really doesn't worth risking your money.
6738  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Tokenmarket.net How do you get a hold of them? on: October 09, 2017, 11:30:40 AM
If you check the recently added tokens, you will see that they are adding some new ones each a two hours or so, I'm assuming they do read the emails. If both listing token and launching ICO emails don't work, try using Telegram which you could find at the bottom of the page.
6739  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Transfer fees buying from USD to Bitcoin, what site best to use? on: October 09, 2017, 07:26:40 AM
The fees will depend on the payment method you use but I believe Coinbase has better fees: https://support.coinbase.com/customer/portal/articles/2109597-buy-sell-bank-transfer-fees
If you want to really have lower fees then you should exclude using a third party service because in addition to whatever the bank or credit card provider take as fees, the service you are buying from also take fees so It's better to trade with individuals through LocalBitcoins or Paxful.
6740  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain Receive API V2 Needed - Will Reward on: October 09, 2017, 06:40:01 AM
I could tell you that everyone who requested the API need it and If they don't, they won't sell it for satoshis for sure. I would suggest going with Blocktrail, having the API key is easier, they have higher limits when it comes to requests and they are also stable (no downtime), Its better by all perspectives.
