6721  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin prices dropped, should you buy? on: January 21, 2018, 09:46:31 PM
A new phenomenon that is up and down just like traditional “investments”. This is how the stock market and its many investments react as well. Maybe they are not quite as volatile in whole, but Bitcoin “crashes” are to be expected for a new type of payment system that is challenging everything we know about traditional fiat money. Many more of these to come and should be expected as a natural order of how this kinda stuff works.
6722  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is It advisable to quit my present job for bitcoin? on: January 21, 2018, 09:39:06 PM
While I’m guessing that this is a joke by the OP, I do believe it is important that people realize first and foremost Bitcoin was not created by Satoshi as an “investment”. While it certainly has become one (in some aspects), it’s important that you’ve got a sound portfolio built first. Ones portfolio should be diverse and set towards retirement and once on track THEN “investmenting” in Bitcoin can make sense.
6723  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Error: 26 coin Satori roll? on: January 21, 2018, 09:26:43 PM
always good for a laugh Smiley

now yall can laugh at my question

I have some of the first Satori's (old addresses) have all of those been sold and is there a way to look at the latest Satori's and know they are new addresses ( like a year/date on the chip) ?   I have not seen a new one

The satori's have serial numbers.  You can use the serial number to look up the public address here:  https://satoricoin.jp/en/bitcoin.php

Once you have the public key you can use this: https://www.forkexplorer.com/  to find out the number of shitcoins at that public address.

lol ok thanks LC,  wonder if they will change color in the future and or maybe add dates.. guess we will see

That would be a nice change indeed instead of the standard orange color they have been using.

I will email Moto and suggest it to him. I will also invite him over here to our forum so he can meet us collectors and hear what we have to say..unless of course he already is here with us Grin

Why Krogo?! You know how much I love that Orange!! Cheesy These chips are cool but I also wish they would at the very least change the color scheme up a bit.  It would be cool if they added another denomination or two as well. The BTCC chips are an easy guide for all of that.

They do make other colors....  they had made some custom ones for Zaif exchange that were blue.
And iirc, they offered to make custom chip runs for companies, etc.
Worth looking up... was interesting at the time when I found it.
Will do some digging to see if I can get some pics or links posted up here Cheesy
Thanks

Hmm i wonder how many for a custom coin.  Would be worth a group buy here id buy some customs and i know pretty much everyone else here would too.

I am all for this idea Wheelz!! Good looking out #23 - I had no idea that they made any other colors or customs for that matter. Looks like we might need to get our boy Hampz in on this. Custom coin made just for Bitcointalk collectibles community would be pretty damn cool. I’m no designer that’s for sure so it’s a good thing we’ve got plenty of artists here.
6724  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Charity] 2 Gram Gold on: January 21, 2018, 04:30:58 AM
Being a former Marine, I like the toys for Tots. Or the Humane Society for rescue pets. But, I got to say, everyone has such good Charities...could divide it up, maybe??

To add to Fattcatt’s post, another project that I’m quite fond of is where shelter animals are paired with veterans to help with a number of issues but perhaps most importantly of all PTSD. I’ve sadly seen friends whom have come back from war a different person so this really hits home. There’s few things better in life than the unconditional love of a pup. These guys are helping this cause - http://www.petsforvets.com/
6725  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Charity] 2 Gram Gold on: January 21, 2018, 04:17:05 AM
Any charity that supports bees/insects/ecology would be my vote....
The bees are dying, and they make food possible in this world..... seems to be a wise choice!!!

My man, love to see when others realize how huge of an issue the loss of honey bees is to our country right now ! This is why I’ve been donating to the deep ecology project since I found out about it via Max some two years ago or so.. As soon as I’m able to visit Chicago I will be holding a charity auction in which 100% (not 10%)  of proceeds will be donated to the deep encology project. I will be using my winning lot from Hampz charity raffle and have been buying stuff that I will be adding as well. Coming soon ..but we can never donate enough !

6728  Other / Archival / Re: . on: January 19, 2018, 11:42:31 PM

6729  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Appraisal] BTCC 0.5 Coin w/ Error? on: January 19, 2018, 05:06:45 AM
I’ve followed the US Mint blog for some time now and many collectors would go nuts for anything like this. However that’s the US Mint which has significant history as we all know. Cryptocurrency Coin making doesn’t have nearly enough history or support behind it yet for this to be a premium booster. All that IMO of course.
6730  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Cold Coin Bitcoin from AU on: January 19, 2018, 12:46:11 AM
Hi Guys!

Great to finally be apart of the community and for the support already received.

I’m part of Cold Coin Bitcoin, an Australian company and a small team at that. We’re still in development but over this weekend there will be an update to our site that will go in depth on everything. I’d be happy to answer any questions I can though, but more importantly I genuinely look forward to hearing all your suggestions and input. You guys are the main early adopters of this product and service so we take your opinions very seriously.

We want to try be as transparent as possible, it’s just early days + small team at the moment so we’re building information as we go, and I’m sure your input will help shape what we do.

The Cold Coin GOLD v1
250 made + 250 backup coins.
When you purchase a coin or coins, you will create and save your 2FA paraphrase (we do not store the paraphrase so it’s VERY important you save and make a backup copy). The paraphrase generates the public and private key on our end so we can manufacture your coin/s. We save your public key, but the private key is saved as a backup offline. The coins cannot be used without the private key on your coin/s + the paraphrase you created. So if you loose a coin it would be useless to someone else.

We are working on account dashboard that could potentially show your public key/s when logged in, and a link to view the balance loaded on your coin. All coins are buyer funded.

Hope we can deliver what you guys want and expect : )

Welcome to the forum!  The one question at moment I have - I ordered two coins (original + backup) and did not fill out any pass phrase stuff.  I had another member mention they had to in order to place the order.  Could you possibly shed some light on that? Really look forward to seeing you guys grow, this is a really nice first coin for a lot of reasons. Thanks !
6731  Economy / Collectibles / Re: I think I received an ERROR Kialara 100k Moon Bar? on: January 18, 2018, 08:33:50 PM
Max gave error coins out as a gift to those who waited the longest for their bars.
6732  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Cold Coin Bitcoin from AU on: January 18, 2018, 03:56:20 AM
Chatted with the coin maker. They told me they are quietly rolling out this coin while they upgrade the website and get the business rolling in general.

I expressed concern over private keys etc and they fully understood, saying that part of the website upgrade will go
In to much more detail about the safety of it all.

Told them to show up here too. So we shall see.

6733  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Cold Coin Bitcoin from AU on: January 17, 2018, 11:39:09 PM
I was thinking of buying a few. Anyone here received theirs yet?

This is their first release and shipping in 10 days
6734  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Cold Coin Bitcoin from AU on: January 17, 2018, 11:38:17 PM
So I bypassed that crap and just ordered two coins.  Figured I’d see how well I liked em and go from there.
6735  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Cold Coin Bitcoin from AU on: January 17, 2018, 09:23:44 PM
From the coin maker FYI  -“If you haven’t seen any messages yet, I’ll just let you know you’re part of the first mint and shipment. So we’ll be shipping and the first batch in 10 days. Sorry for the delay but we hope you enjoy!”
6736  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 2013 antaui worldcoin funded with 5 WDC on: January 17, 2018, 04:35:44 PM
Maybe because you seem quite untrustworthy?

Who me, or OP?  Anyway, that photo was of my stash.  I'm just trying to gauge a general value of these things.  They are quite rare but also quite obscure.  I've been holding onto them for four years, I can always hold on longer.

Also, I have recently seen that someone made a book of early crypto physical coins and people take photos of pages certain coins they are trying to sell.  I think this Antaui coin is in the book.  Could someone take a photo of the respective page?  The author also runs a site cataloging physical coins.  There is an Antaui entry but no photo.  I couldn't find a way to contact the guy.  If I could get in touch with him, I could definitely try to take a few better photos and send them to him for his material.

Heck no- OP

If not to load they still are cool bitcoin collectables at a very good price  Cheesy Will definitely order

6739  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Cold Coin Bitcoin from AU on: January 17, 2018, 10:57:03 AM
I like how clean they look.

However, I don't get a few things:
  • how the backup coin (which they state it's 100% as the main coin) has a lower price
  • why only one customer feedback
  • price

Anyone ordered any?
Thanks for sharing.

1) a marketing ploy to sell more?
2) this is a very new release from what I’ve read
3) price..non precious metal/wanting to get their name out there/advertise
4) I ordered a few..will let you know what shows up!
6740  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If bitcoin dies. All the cottage coins will die? on: January 17, 2018, 07:43:14 AM
Is that the case? Bitcoin if it dies. I do not think the other coins will go well.

I think yes, Bitcoin is like an oil, if oil drops then almost everything are cheaper otherwise then everything is expensive.
If Bitcoin dies it means Altcoins aren't secure anymore and almost all cryptocurrency will have no value at all.

What sort of educational background do you have to be making such claims, that anyone should take seriously?  You’ve got some work cut out for you. I hate members like you whom just spill uneducated nonsense and act like it’s gospel.
