6761  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nicole wants to give up her taxi in exchange for bitcoin on: March 24, 2021, 05:43:40 AM
If driving taxis is her main(or worse, only) source of income, then this is definitely not a move I'd recommend. Because unless she has a boatload of cash ready to spend for day-to-day needs, where would she get her money then?

As much of a bitcoin bull I am, letting go of sources of income for bitcoin is something I wouldn't do, and not something I would recommend. A better and more responsible move would be to use some of the taxi driving earnings to buy bitcoin.
6762  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's information insurgency on: March 24, 2021, 03:49:36 AM
Up until recently, the only time that journalists or television shows wanted to speak with bitcoiners was to ridicule, mock, and attack them.

Heck, even until right now Bitcoiners are still getting heavily ridiculed, just significantly less than how it used to be years ago. Hence why I have huge respect to the early Bitcoin advocates that had the balls to appear on CNBC/CNN/etc knowing that they it's almost guaranteed for them to get ridiculed. They're having the last laugh today, though.
6763  Economy / Speculation / Re: Exchanges Bitcoin Reserves on: March 24, 2021, 03:31:13 AM
One thing's for sure — it's going to decrease sell pressure on exchanges, which we could say has a positive effect. But in the end, it's still going to mostly depend on the demand.

Also, I'd like to be realistic and not too bullish. Let's not forget that while people are withdrawing their funds from the exchanges(as indicated in the chart), let's not forget that they could just as easily send all the coins they've withdrawn back to the exchanges if they really wanted to sell.
6764  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Literally Beginner on: March 24, 2021, 03:27:40 AM
Sites that you can use to "earn" cryptocurrencies are mostly not that good. But you know an easy solution? Simply doing the normal ways or earning money — through jobs, gigs, businesses, etc, and just using the fiat you've earned to buy bitcoin or whatever cryptocurrency you want.
6765  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: PayPal VS robinhood Which is the worst for buying bitcoin? on: March 24, 2021, 03:22:36 AM
I have just tried to visit these 2 sites to see the rates. For localcrypto, the price difference compared to the market is too great. I cannot accept such large losses in speculation. In the top few offers the spreads go up to 25%. Hodlhodl looks a lot better, maybe I will try to buy there. Now, what I most wonder about is their level of credibility as well as their ability to protect customers. A P2P platform is always a great place to cheat without good protection. Have you ever used Hodlhodl platform? It would be great if you gave me some advice on it  Cheesy

Thank you very much!

As expected, spreads could get really bad when using such exchanges, and that scammers exists(though of course, you only trade with people with a good number of positive feedback). That's the risks of using P2P platforms, if you really want privacy. If you want good spreads and remove them potential scam factor, then you have no choice but to use reputable custodial platforms.

And yes, I've used HodlHodl. It's great because they have their escrow system, but that doesn't guarantee to filter out the scammers. Again, trade with the people with good reputation.
6766  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: BitBox02 Hardware Wallet on: March 23, 2021, 04:33:16 PM
I'm not saying that it's a bad wallet and that you shouldn't buy it, but personally, I'd go for hardware wallets that have enough community feedback(from the likes of Reddit, Twitter, and Bitcointalk). Namely, long-standing hardware wallet manufacturers such as Ledger, Trezor, or Coldcard. But that's just me.
6767  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: donate with Bitcoin on: March 23, 2021, 01:40:00 PM
While I really really don't get the digital art NFT craze(it's either really stupid, or I'm the one that's stupid), at least some African and U.S. people are going to get some help I guess? Jack totally got a lot of hate from the Twitter Bitcoin maximalists for that move though.
6768  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: PayPal VS robinhood Which is the worst for buying bitcoin? on: March 23, 2021, 01:32:41 PM
Is that true? If we buy Bitcoin and cannot move anywhere, then it is not our Bitcoin. It's not buying, it's more like an investment. Too bad if that happens  Roll Eyes
Yes. But to somewhat balance the hate on PayPal, in their defense, even Cash App back then initially didn't allow bitcoin withdrawals. It came at a later date. Will it be the same with PayPal? No idea.

Do you have any ideas for buying BTC using Paypal or Neteller? Or any similar currency. If possible, I would expect it to remain anonymous. Buying BTC with cash is not a good idea, especially if the country you live in has a ban on buying and selling of cryptocurrencies.
Peer-to-peer exchanges such as LocalCryptos[1] and HodlHodl[2].

Looks like Paypal and Robinhood are not good choices, are there any other options?
I mean, almost literally any existing reputable exchange is better than these two.

6769  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: PayPal VS robinhood Which is the worst for buying bitcoin? on: March 23, 2021, 08:51:13 AM
Both are really really bad options, but if you'd force me to choose between the two, I'd probably use PayPal. Despite how their service sucks, it's just a lot less likely for them to go underwater in my opinion.

But yea, in reality, I personally definitely wouldn't buy from either. Why are you limited to these two services in the first place? (unless you were just trying them out)
6770  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Meeting about Bitcoin and inviting people to it on: March 23, 2021, 08:14:31 AM
Not sure it would be a good idea to start with talking about price to be honest, at it would easily look like selling a scam to others. Personally, I would start with Bitcoin's important characteristics(non-custodial, censorship resistance, predictable and unchangeable supply schedule, and such).

But hopefully your sort of presentation would at the very least spark an interest from them, ending up with them doing deeper research into it.
6771  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PSA: Never delete your old Wallets or Keys on: March 23, 2021, 07:00:20 AM
I have kept all recovery seeds though, dies that count for anything?

The entire gist of OP's post is essentially to have backup access to your old wallets regardless how "cheap" the balances are, so really, any type of backup would do as long as you're sure that you wouldn't lose access.
6772  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: $20K to invest in coins - Where to start? on: March 23, 2021, 04:10:58 AM
If you would have $20k to invest in crypto, what would you do?

I'd spend a good amount of time researching assets first before actually buying anything. No offense, but if you're asking such a question, then chances are, you probably haven't done the work yet. Because if you did, you'd be asking specific questions instead of asking this broad "what to invest" question.
6773  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Send Ltc to Btc wallet on: March 22, 2021, 04:48:35 PM
HI guys i did a mistake yesterday i tryed to get 2.15 ltc from a casino website so i cashed it out but i copy past my btc wallet the status of the transaction is unspent can i recover it

What BTC wallet are you using? I'm really not 100% sure how Litecoin wallets work(because I never had one), but if you have access to your Bitcoin wallet's 12-24 word recovery seed, you can try importing it to a reputable Litecoin wallet.
6774  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PSA: Never delete your old Wallets or Keys on: March 22, 2021, 04:45:25 PM
Nah I'm too lazy to do that, though I don't think there will be much difference  in keeping them. I have my old keys for few years now, I'm just getting sad by looking at my portfolio. Lots of tokens from the previous campaign I joined before, still no value.

Yea.. I'd care a lot less as well if we're talking about most altcoins here because altcoins are another story. Tongue But bitcoin though? Definitely a keep, I think a lot of people are totally underestimating bitcoin's future potential despite it's $1T market cap. I'd say if you still have rotting altcoins that are near-dead, just convert em to bitcoin even if they're just worth like $10.
6775  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Need Advise po Regarding BEP-20 & BNB. on: March 22, 2021, 06:03:55 AM
Salamat po sir, Parang mas okay yung convert to BTC, kaya lang limited lang ang exchange nang wallet ko at thru dapp pa, ang Available lang is BTCB or other BEP-20 and Erc-20 lang..

Tama po ba ang gagawin ko kung sakali, e tra-transfer ko ang BNB ko to other wallet like Guarda, then dun ko sya e convert to BTC?

May other ways pa po ba? Kasi tingin ko malaki ang magiging charges nito.

Transfer mo sa reputable exchange gaya ng Binance, then dun mo nalang i exchange. If ayaw mo ng AML/KYC, mostly hindi naman magrerequire ang Binance unless na minalas ka, kasi as low as below 2 BTC per day ang ineexchange mo mostly hindi ka hihingian ng documents.

And yes, may exchange fees talaga, wala na talaga tayong magagawa nun since kailangan rin talagang kumita ng mga exchange. The only way na makapag exchange ka ng coins ng walang fees(besides transaction fees) is kung makikipag palitan ka sa mga tao directly, which is mas mahirap gawin kasi mahirap maghanap ng mapagkakatiwalaang tao.
6776  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's information insurgency on: March 22, 2021, 05:26:07 AM
Well, memes are made by poor people for the poor people, memes is the key to freedom of the people. Not to mention that most people in the Boomer generation and those older than them are pretty much had everything laid on to them so they don't have to work hard for anything and now that they are old, they think that the world still revolves around them so they still want it all. Controversy sparks debates especially if that controversy is the truth or exposes the truth.

Uhm, I definitely wouldn't look at it that way. Memes are just one way(albeit, a definitely unique and bizarre way) of how a lot of people online, but mostly people on the younger side, express their interests/feelings regardless of financial situation.
6777  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin is trash on: March 22, 2021, 03:26:19 AM
If this is what makes you steer off away from Bitcoin, then you're heavily HEAVILY misinformed. What makes Bitcoin interesting it's is predictable supply schedule, and the fact that you can't be censored.

I get your point with the bitcoin<->fiat rails being a problem concerning privacy, but this is a problem with the current financial platforms, and definitely NOT a problem concerning Bitcoin. It's like putting all the blame on Activision because your old crappy Pentium Dual-Core computer couldn't run Call of Duty: Warzone
6778  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 🎥 [VIDEO LIST] debates about Bitcoin & Cryptocurrencies (updated: Aug 23) on: March 22, 2021, 03:17:08 AM
Bump. I'm a huge listener so this thread is going to need a huge content update from the stuff I watched. But should I even bother updating this? Are people even interested? I assume demand is low due to people not interested with watching 1hr+ videos.
6779  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where to start as a beginner? on: March 22, 2021, 03:14:05 AM
I am also a beginner in BTC. Are these youtube videos reliable? There is so much video out there. Do you have a channel you would recommend that is trustworthy? Thanks
Andreas Antonopoulos' Bitcoin for Beginners is probably the best beginner introduction series as he explains the concepts of Bitcoin(decentralization, self-custody, censorship resistance, etc) without being too overly technical. The whole playlist is probably like 5 hours long so that should keep you busy for a while.

6780  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is the central bankers trojan horse out of fiat. on: March 22, 2021, 03:08:12 AM
Ah, back at it again with the classic "government/bankers can buy all the coins" argument, not even taking into consideration that the price will shoot straight up as money floods in. Probably first learn how markets work before making such silly arguments.
