6762  Economy / Economics / Re: Is bitcoin really anonymous? on: January 14, 2018, 09:43:01 PM
Bitcoin is not anonymous and is often described as “pseudo anonymous”. One of the most famous examples of how Bitcoin is NOT anonymous is that of Silk Road. Many believed at the time that this new Bitcoin thing was untraceable and therefore a perfect means of payments for illegal items. As history now shows law enforcement was able to learn how to trace Bitcoin payments using the open sourced blockchain as their guide.  This is an important fact as many Bitcoin pundits will argue that its an anonymous payment system used mainly for illegal activities.  Now there are ways to mix your bitcoin address and essentially become anonymous but that’s a whole other story.

6766  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Whats up with VIA? on: January 14, 2018, 08:05:36 PM
Everyone here seems to like it but its a shit coin according to coinmarketcap?

Do they really call it a "shit coin" ??
What does that even mean?
Just because a coin is not in the top 20 coins doesn't mean it's shit coin....
There are plenty of coins out there that have real-use cases and technologies that are different/better than the blue-chip coins...

VIA FTW Wink

It can be looked at the same way as a stock sold on the NY stock exchange.  Every stock has to start somewhere and many start off with low valuations & under the radar.  Not to mention cryptocurrency is in its infancy and with so many now it can be difficult for the best to instantly rise to the top. MJ also points out an important fact and that is Bitcoin isn’t the only game in town and other successful Alts (that aren’t meant as a BTCreplacement and solve real world problems) are good for the health and future of BTC. I would recommend taking a look at the Alts section here on btalk as you can learn more there than in collectibles.

Double the silver, + a poster + much more scarce + design has been a pain to mint.
First things first, the coin looks truly amazing. Haven't seen such a nice design in a while, so I totally get that it was a pain to mint. However, I do not care for the poster (as it currently looks). Would it be possible to purchase the coin without it and get some kind of discount on the coin itself?

Take away the poster and drop to $150 and I will bite bro

Love the coin, have been a big fan of your Coins for some time now! This coin is beautiful, love the detail in the design and the whole thought behind it. It’s great to see coins made outside the norm! However it’s hard to justify purchasing 1 Oz of silver at that cost. If it were half like krogo said, I’d be in!
6768  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Social Media Influence bitcoin growth? on: January 13, 2018, 12:44:44 AM
One of the best ways to research whether something is worth purchasing is by using social media. That goes especially for investments. As a financial guy I always check social media and google trends before purchasing a stock /ICO etc. This can be a great way to gauge how much interest there is out there and if it looks as if interest is slowing down or speeding up. Highly recommend everyone uses google trends and social media!

I want them all, whats the highest bid??

ah! you're a little late here bud, they all sold out in an hour and rest 6 were auctioned which went for around 0.075 BTC per penny Smiley

Better luck next time OR just open a [WTB] thread and try to buy them from people who got some, maybe they will sell for some good amount Wink

Not late..In an auction user offered $20 dollars over spot for the 5 that were up for sale after the sell out. At the time it was significantly less than current bids. I’d have a hard time taking user seriously.

Received mine yesterday BTC Penny and I’m in love!!  I think I might sleep with her tonight  Cheesy Grin

Enjoy Denver one of my favorite places to visit! The fact that Denver/CO  has more sun per year than the state of FL is certainly helping that states population blow up like crazy! Maybe for some other things too, like not being stuck in a 1930’s way of thinking  Cool.  Good luck !

LOL Chi!  That is so true. And that is why we need one of our own to do our own grading.

Before I became a Crypto coin collector I also collected stamps for 30 years.

In the stamp collecting hobby we also have to main stamp certification services in the USA. The Philatelic Foundation and The American Philaelic Society.

Two very important certification services. However they were not the only ones. You also had many individual persons highly respected in the stamp community

that specialized in certain countries or area of Philately. Believe it or not, the established two sought out their advice when it came to certifying stamps that fell within their expertise

The same can apply to us! We need one of our own who is highly respected in this forum and has the knowledge to start grading our coins.

I will not mention names, but I have reached out to one that I can think can be the bearer of this torch! And I am sure many in this community have the same person in mind.

I think we might be blazing our minds out trying to figure out who that might be

Lol ..I have been spending all night trying to figure out who that person might be Cheesy. My guy Krogo is always on point but I especially love this idea. Just throwing my 2 satoshis out there.
6773  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Anacs undergoing a PROCEDURE CHANGE on: January 10, 2018, 06:36:35 AM
every company must always make changes or innovations in order to survive the tight competition. The 4 most respected rating companies are PCGS, NGC, ANACS, and ICG. This is a very tough competition every company will certainly change from time to time including ANACS. but all of them are needed in the market and each has a purpose.

It’s especially difficult for a company who refuses to listen to the exact market they cater to.  It’s the poor mans grading service, and if not for crypto I’d own none at all. ANACS reminds me of Ford pre-2008. They looked boxy and were cheap and they suffered until they changed.
6774  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Marijuana Coins on: January 10, 2018, 01:08:29 AM
I spent time on Potcoin myself last night. I agree legalization is imminent in the US (no matter what out of touch Jeff Sessions says).  I’m a financial guy and that sector has been one of my favorites to explode.  However traditional products like stocks are limited to 1 world wild that isn’t a penny play basically (ADR-GWPH). So that said, I don’t see legalization being close enough to give that Alt credence anytime soon. I understand the central network part, which is big...but if crypto is the way to go they’re gunna have to be lighting fast with payments, cheap etc. IMO Bitcoin will be the payment play (lightning network high hopes) world wide and they’ll not want to mess with both. I want to like it!

6777  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Liquidation]Super BTC, Dogecoins, Moon, Halving, some Graded and + on: January 09, 2018, 07:06:37 PM

Open to offers, or if enough interest in a coin might go for auction.

I can't assess the current value of these.

That is my current problem as well.  I have a few coins I'm interested in unloading at this time and I can't figure out fair market prices.   Seems auctions are the best bet.

Been thinking same thing.  I’d like a halving coin personally..PM if you’d like

Buying dips is almost always the way to go with many traditional investments, but this space sans BTC..it’s anyone’s guess completely. Charts can only show so much.
6780  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Still believe in ICO ? on: January 09, 2018, 04:19:53 PM
Still believe in legitimate ICOs .  Just because a bunch of worthless coins (Ex-Bitconnect) have come to market with this crypto craze doesn’t mean good ones haven’t or won’t in the future. Do you believe in Bitcoin? Because if so than no reason not to believe in others.
