I think it is not good to remove but as you stated they have to sell it to cover their losses so I think neutral would be a good option for putting a reference. I think a good lender should always be always be good enough to check the background of an account (including checking feedbacks also).

Also I think lender from now on should leave a neutral feedback stating that he/she has taken loan of xxx amount on date:- xxx so that the he/she doesn't takes another loan from another lender.
