This is also bad news: Suarez Navarro reveals Hodgkin Lymphoma diagnosis

Hope she will be able to fight through it and get healthy again. I always liked her style, because it was so unique in WTA; that backhand was beautiful. At her peak she had mouth-watering encounters and dramas with the best players in the world at the biggest stages. This was one was insane:

She wanted to retire after this season anyway, so no big blow to her career (like for Kleybanova f.e.), but she is still only in the beginning of her 30's and has a full non-tennis, not so stressful life in front of her, too bad. Vamos CSN Smiley

In any case, odds on Trump are trending in his favor. What does this say?
Biden is still leading in almost all the swing states, as per the opinion polls. The ground reports also confirm this. The only thing that can make the difference now is the turnout. And this is where I believe that Trump has the advantage. Trump supporters are much more likely to get out to vote, when compared to Biden supporters. But I don't know whether this difference is enough to hand him a win in November. None of the opinion polls can accurately measure this factor.

There is also a difference in betting markets vs opinion polls at this very moment. The polls look at the present, like: If the election was today, who would get your vote ? It can and will change over time. The betting markets don't care that much what is the status quo today - they are anticipating (or trying to), what will happen in the future, on November 3rd to be precise. And they are leaning very much towards Trump having the upper hand when that day has come, because it's already a 50/50 market at this point whereas this makes no sense looking from a poll point of view.

This is also a result of the 2016 election and the markets are very confident (overconfident ?) that this will happen again and don't want to miss out this time; some kind of FOMO Wink

(...) Sam Bennett was like "what the hell just happened" (...)

Hehe, yes. But Bennett just went too early (not as dumb as Sagan though Grin) with all the headwind. And Ewan has very aerodynamic sprinting style anyway and dude is fast when he is on. But the sprinters field is pretty poor this year unfortunately. Normally you have 4-5 top sprinters in the Tour and some other good ones, but this year it's very thin.

- no fireworks and early attacks, but it was to be expected, a short climb, only 7km with 6.7%, not enough for anything significant.

Yep, the climb was also pretty steady, everyone still has fresh legs, so sprint from a bigger group was very likely.

- Sagan will win the green jersey again, but not as dominant as we know him to be.

He will just go in the groups again every day in the mountain stages and win it that way Grin Maybe Trentin can challenge him a bit.
685  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football in China - The Chinese Super League on: August 31, 2020, 05:19:50 PM
For instance Hebei should have won easy today if we take away "home advantage". They are much better team IMHO.

They definitely are, thats why I picked them. They were 3.0+ when odds came out and 2.30-ish before kick-off, so initial prices were wrong. Hebei has better foreign players and better chinese players, but thats not always enough in football Grin Shijazhuang is doing pretty good, they have good team chemistry, players are in sync and they still live from the promotion hype a bit. But at some point they will start to fade and lose more games. You can compensate lack of quality only for so long.

I guess it must be an anomaly but check stats a bit. They are definitely slanted in favor of "home" teams.

I didn't notice thus far, because I disregard home/away in CSL for the moment completely (makes no sense when in a bubble^^). But a quick glance at the stats shows Group A doing poor at "home" and being strong in "away" games in general. It's the complete opposite for Group B. Maybe you found a pattern here Grin
686  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football in China - The Chinese Super League on: August 31, 2020, 04:55:10 PM
Wuhan defense looks criminal away. Which player got the red card, Roman Alesandrini maybe?

Yes, Alessandrini. Didn't read yet for how many games he will be suspended, but since it was unsportsmanlike conduct, it will be 2+ games imo.

I am bit concerned for that bet since Wuhan plays much better on home turf (...)

There is no home/away Wink They play in a bubble, Group A in Dalian, group B in Suzhou. The pitch in one of the stadiums (don't remember which one) is already in such bad condition that they play on some practice ground nearby. Heavy rains, hot and humid weather on top; this is a wild league, but gratz for your parlay Smiley

Shenzhen – Guangzhou R&F / Shenzhen +0.25 @1.86 5/10 -> 2-0
Shanghai Shenhua – Guangzhou / Guangzhou ML @1.81 5/10 -> 1-4

Hebei – Shijazhuang / Hebei +0.25 @1.87 4/10 -> 1-3

Odds went down nicely for all the picks (Shenzhen ~1.45, Guangzhou ~1.50, Hebei ~1.50), but Hebei disappointed us, although they took the lead. But looked like it was good value, you won't always win value bets though  Tongue +4.35 for this round, +9.50 for the season, slow and steady wins the race Smiley

For tomorrows match between Qingdao and Wuhan, the odds for Wuhan looked good, when they came out, because Qingdao will miss one of their foreign players due to red card in last match. They don't have a proper replacement for him and Wuhan is a very solid team. Odds have come down quite a lot though and not worth pre-match anymore. But if anyone is bored, watches/follows the game, you might consider putting a bet on Wuhan live.

my next posts gonna be shorter i promise!  Smiley

Nooooo, it's nice to have someone to talk to in here, so just keep em coming with as much text as you want Smiley

Cycling fan here, following closely the three grand tours for more than 20 years now. I remember the first tour that i watched back in '98, Pantani winning, he was absolutely amazing, believe it or not i haven't missed a single edition of Tour de France since then.

I started in '96 and got really seriously infected with the cycling virus in '97 when Ulle was the first german to win the TdF - and he remained the last one until today. The 3 GT's are surely the highlights for the majority, but my favourite race is Paris-Roubaix. Just a beauty to watch with all the chaos it creates. Will be end of October this year and I hope that it finally rains again after gazillions of dry editions in recent years.
But I love all races; the one-day-races, the one-week races, the GT's, the Worlds. And I like to bet on them all.

Even tennis from the ATP/WTA would be better than these matches playing at weird times.

Tennis will be hard to do, because you only know the match-ups 1-2 days in advance, but would like to see that as well. What about a NFL-only MM ? Cool Week 1 will be in two weeks with 16 games to be played.

I joined the MM this weekend as well again via a friend, but I forgot what I told him to pick and I can't even access the leaderboard no more. Waiting for a nice surprise, when I next talk to him, unless he already gambled my 300mBTC away in the meantime Cheesy
691  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [AMA] The Life of a Professional Gambler on: August 30, 2020, 10:36:58 PM
Have you ever gambled on live casino games like Baccarrat or BlackJack? Do you know some tricks to reduce casino's odds in these games?

Have you ever made it to the slots? If yes, how was your experience with this type of gambling?

I think I talked about that already in the past, but probably not enough for it to make into the table of contents Grin And maybe rightfully so, since there really isn't much to talk about. You can play these games, but you will lose money. It's fine to do it for entertainment purposes, but don't expect to get anything out of it (longterm). With some strategic play, you can reduce the house edge, but you won't win that way too, you will just lose less.

I don't like to play games, where I don't have a fair chance of winning anything and my opponent (the house in this case) always wins. I played BlackJack and some slots, but only when I got freespins or some bonus/free money for the Casino from a bookmaker where I play and they happen to have a Casino too. I have to admit, that it's maybe some fun to play these games, but the fact that I will lose, never got me really excited about these games fortunately. And imo these games are highly dangerous, because so addictive and can destroy peoples life.

We have loads of offline arcades (not sure about this term) here. In every little village you have them, and no matter at what time you drive by, there are always cars parked in front of them. Also look at how many online Casinos promoting their services in here (you wear a signature from one of them as well). They are making lots of money and there seems to be no saturation - because there are so many addicted players and the house always wins.

I can only recommend to never start playing these kind of games. It's better to play or Poker or do sportsbetting/-trading, if you are looking for a thrill, because these are skill games, where you can beat the house. And you are no gambler then anymore, but an investor - you are investing in good odds Smiley Hopefully.
692  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Cycling Thread on: August 30, 2020, 10:07:29 PM
What's your favorite site by the way?

For cycling this would be Pinnacle. Bet365 is the benchmark, but they have poor odds. The rest just copies what Bet365 puts up, it's a small market, where you can't stake a lot, unless you place the same bet in various bookmakers or multiple times like f.e. what Pinnacle allows you to do. For crypto bookies, Betcoin/Playbetr/Sportsbet have H2H/Stage winner/Top3, Nitrogen pretty sure has something, maybe FJ (didn't check).

Not too familiar with cycling games but yeah, their dedication is priceless and their speed is unmatchable by people like us who have become lazy enough that we need a bike to go to a nearby shop and buy some stuff.

Well, they have pretty good equipment^^ But yes, it's insane what they are doing day in day out. I think the record for going downhill in Tour de France is 121km/h.....on these tiny tyres with basically no protection but a helmet, which won't help a lot, if you crash at that speed. I'd rather have a smooth drive on my shitty bike to the next store instead and leave the rest for the pros, while I watch on TV Cheesy

Bardet tb Uran @1.751 4/10

Was a bit closer than expected, since both didn't contest the sprint. For Uran this was expected, but Bardet not trying to get a good placement, was a surprise to me; maybe nothing left in the tank. Got a bit lucky here, +3.00.

Tomorrows stage is something for the pure sprinters, so probably a snoozefest until the last kms. Never liked to get too involved with those, so most likely no bet(s) for tomorrow. Tuesday will see the first mountain top finish of this years edition and there should be some good bets, lets see.

The popularity of cycling and cycling betting has boomed in the UK in recent years thanks to the success of the likes of Chris Froome, Mark Cavendish and Sir Bradley Wiggins. With cycling betting, there are two main types of cycling to focus on: tour racing, which is more endurance, and track cycling, which is more of a sprint.

You spam a lot buddy Wink But since this was a bit on topic, I won't delete it. Next time no mercy though^^
694  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: August 30, 2020, 04:14:07 PM
They won't build in cheap buyout clauses in their contracts and are now rejecting offers that don't meet their demands. And that they'll let a contract run out like the one of Lewandowski, won't happen.

Yes. The problem in the equation is often the player and/or agent. If a player wants to leave the club no matter what, this will always create agitation, whatever the contract says. Creates a lose-lose-lose situation then, where everyone is unhappy. The biggest loser is probably the club, where this player is currently under contract, because most likely he will not perform as good as he used to - being sulky. So putting in ultra-high buyout clauses, rejecting good offers, is only helping them so much (if the player really wants to leave).

I am pretty sure that if Haalands wants to go to Bayern and they want him too and can pay him, he would be able to go there in the end. But England/Spain is more likely, since he will be that good in 1-2 years, that Bayern won't pay what these super "rich" clubs are willing to pay Wink

Tour de France, Stage 2:

Bardet tb Uran @1.751 4/10

Odds are from Pinnacle, you can get around 1.70 at crypto bookies. Uran crashed yesterday and fell on his shoulder, that was recently injured already. This is a tough stage and if you are missing some %, you will be in trouble. Bardet has better form right now and as frenchman, he will be super motivated to get a good result anyway. Uran will probably be happy with just finishing with the main favourites.
696  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: August 29, 2020, 08:33:53 PM
They have already started to bring new young players in for that postion that Lewandowski playes , Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane !

Well, Sané and Gnabry play different positions and have very different skill sets; they are no central forwards, but more coming down the flanks, need some space and speed to really shine. Lewandowski is a modern-oldschool striker. Haaland was mentioned, who would fit pretty well imo and Bayern has a habit of buying the best players from Dortmund (and the rest of the league).

Regarding Mbappé I agree that he is not what Bayern would want right now (as replacement for Lewa). But who knows what the Bayern style will look like once the Pole retires or goes elsewhere and/or they have a new coach. Bayern is a super healthy club, though not as shiny like some english/spanish clubs. But you won't find an organisation in the whole football world that is so well run like Bayern - and they are still preserving their independence, while being able to compete at top level internationally. They could get and pay every player they want easily, but they won't do it, because no player is bigger than the club and breaking the bank for a single player is never a good thing (team chemistry etc.).

No one can replace tyKiwanuka!

Hehe, thanks, but it's not true Grin

If someone could do it for me, it would be nice; I will also give short introduction, though it's no rocket science, since a lot of the work is done via formulas. I could do the sheet, but not kind of real-time and only if someone always provides me the screenshots/results. Season 4 is already set up in the sheet.

You could also make a new sheet of course, though I think it's nice to have the history of the series all in one sheet.
