681  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can a transaction be cancelled on: June 03, 2016, 10:29:05 PM
see this transaction , anyone know this is transaction  can cancel
Warning! this transaction is a double spend
https://blockchain.info/tx/91287d3ef3bbeb76bc5eb4eaeb1e23ae300f88054b9db98d9ab1bc444c7744bf

It is sad but scammers do this type of thing.  It is simple to solve though if you just wait for a few conformations.   So you can make a decision based off who your dealing with.... but waiting for a confirmations if selling something is what I consider good practice.

But it's kinda getting away from OP.  No a transaction cannot be canceled in that sense.  Double spend is a way to make it appear there is a transaction but it's really going to two places, but again waiting on confirmations will show if it was sent successfully.
682  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER C1 Discussion and Support Thread on: June 03, 2016, 10:20:34 PM
It was listed on ebay as an S5 for £5 buy it now, but £45 postage.
When it arrived it was a C1, I messaged the seller but no response.

I am not going to buy anything for it, but i can use old stuff and make good.  My other half has just given me a pump that we used way back in the day as part of hydro growing equipment, it was for irrigating "plants" growing in a bath of rock-wool.  I got an ally rad from a out of a old commercial refrigeration pack too.  Will soon rig some 12v fans.

I was going to power it up using just 2 hashing boards from a 750w PSU via 4 off 6pin power cables and then try under clocking it to 200Mhz @ 0.720v = 325w for 2 hashing boards instead of 500w for 2 hashing boards at stock settings.
Do i need to unplug the ribbon cables from between the control board and the hashing boards that are not in use?

Once it is under-clocked i will reboot with all 4 hashing boards connected but just one 6pin power cable per hashing board.  Total ~650w
So just one PSU 750w

Can i access the voltage and frequency from the static address page in the GUI or will i need to use puTTy?

It's hard to tell from description on what radiator actually does in terms of cooling.   It likely is highest costing accessory.  I honestly would contact paypal... and return it as a S5 is much better and no need of all water cooling gear.  I honestly don't think the C1 is worth the work your going to have to do and parts you need to buy.  Unless you happened to have all parts on hand.

But if your going to keep it yes you could do your plan on PSU, it should work (the 500 could be a little harder depending on what type of psu if cheap bronze, but likely will still work).  Why are you wanting to make hashing boards not in use?  I guess I'm missing that.  It's been a LONG time since I used C1 but I believe freq and voltage should be under GUI and very easily to change.

Yes very nice to see the continued rise in the price and for us in the UK we are now approaching £400 which would be very nice. Who knows what the exact reason is, but I guess some of it is Halving related? Also good to see the continued negative Difficulty, we are Period to Date at -3.81% although as we know if someone throws the switch this could still step up a few notches.

Rich

Really having is biggest thing I can think of.  There is the S9 that I could see people wanting to buy BTC if they did not have any to buy, but I don't think it is the cause of surge we are seeing.  I always thought having would cause effect on price before it happens, as investors know it's coming and it's not like a secret.

I would love to hear other reasons if someone has one besides having and S9 release.  I don't see other big things but it's possible I missed something.
684  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I need answers to my questions on: June 03, 2016, 08:17:51 PM
You can earn bitcoin in the exact same way that you earn any other money. You can sell some sort of good or service for bitcoin

This is pretty good anwser BTC is not a get rick quick scheme.  If you think you are going to go online and make a ton of money without skills/items you can sell.  Or some income to invest... op will be sad to learn it's slow.   Chances are sig campaign is most free he will earn but at newbie, I don't suggest starting.  I suggest waiting till full member.

If you have money to buy bitcoin and hold it is currently doing good.  Today it jumped around 30 dollars in value.  But this does take investment cash.
685  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Back into Bitcoin! Access to FREE electric. How should i continue!? on: June 03, 2016, 08:13:01 PM
....

Anyways, I have access to free electric and would like to start mining again! I honestly should of posted here first asking for advice but i got excited and went ahead and was able to get 2 Antminer S4s for really cheap. I did do a little research and hope this is right but for what i could find used and for what i was willing to spend right away (under $400) this seemed to be my best bet.

....

S4's are getting dated at this point as far as efficiency.   How much free electricity do you have and is sound a issue?  Those two things are kinda important.

I personally would go S5 if you can find a deal, or wait till having and I think you will get some bargin S7's.  So honestly waiting till having might be a good idea to snag some S7's unless you find a deal on a older miner.
686  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER C1 Discussion and Support Thread on: June 03, 2016, 08:09:07 PM
Hi all, I just bought an C1 in an auction for £50  (I was told it was an S5  Cry )

I have 2 PSUs i can use.  One is 750w, the other is 500w

I also have some questions.

Can i use the 750w for 3 hashing boards and 500w for the last one?

Can i power up with only 2 hashing board?

This unit is an unknown so it may have faults, it would be good to get it working with one board so i know the controller is ok, I could then add boards in turn.  Also, i don't know if i can afford to run 1kw/h 25/7  Tongue

Can these be under clocked by parting out resistors and changing settings with putty?  I would like the most efficient settings not the highest hash-power please.

I was going to test it on the sink drainer, with a hose from the cold tap connected to water in and the outlet running down the plughole waste.  It would be good to make sure each heat exchanger does not leak before i power up too.

I may keep this one if it works? If i keep it i will need to buy a pump and find a rad from somewhere, maybe a motorbike.  More expense.
Or maybe i can sell the controller and the boards that work. The fan will be useful. i have an underclocked S1 that has a fan blade missing and vibrates and moves around loads.

I have looked through this tread and am still reading...but it is nearly 100 pages long.
Any pointers from anyone?Huh anyone?Huh

The problem with multiple PSU's is you cannot share them on one blade.   You likely are talking over 800 watts for it.   So around 200+ for each blade.  So you could use the 750 on 3 blades and use the 500 on 1 blade and gives you some room.

If you did not get the pump, radiator, tubing, fittings, etc.  I'm not sure I would recommend spending to money to buy it all unless you find a deal on it.   Have you priced getting all the accessories to run it?   I'm guessing it might be more then a C1 is worth as far as putting money into.  Espically not knowing if all blades are working.

Can I ask how did you buy it thinking it was a S5? Did auction say C1 in it or label it as S5?  Unsure from your first sentence.
687  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Looking for Antminer S1 on: June 03, 2016, 08:01:17 PM
Your price and your location please.

Original miner needed.

Kinda wrong area you should move your thread over to marketplace, you also will get more people looking to sell over there.   Chances are shipping is more then miner is worth.   At this point it's value is so low you might hit up ebay and just buy one.  I don't think you will be lucky enough to find one in your location to cut out shipping but I could be wrong.
688  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: S-11 Speculation Thread. on: June 03, 2016, 07:58:50 PM
Oh yeah, my speculation.

S11 will continue to be a 3-board design in a form factor similar to the S7/S9.

25.3 TH plus/minus 5% at 1487 watts +7% at the wall using their 1600 watt PS (93% efficienty).
Initial shipping date 16 Febuary 2020.
Initial batch cost 4.3 Bitcoin, or whatever that equates to in Dollars = or $3200 dollars, whichever is MORE.

The CHIP (BM1389) will be capable of 0.045 J/GH but they won't run it at it's highest efficiency point or anywhere close to that.

I'm giving it 50/50 they'll come up with a BM1388 chip in late 2017, squeezing another 25-35% efficiency from it through improvements in process node tech and more work at optimisation - in which case there will be an S11 much sooner, but it will be more of an S5 to S7 transition on the same node with quite a bit lower percentage improvement on specs.

BTW - anyone else notice that the BM1386 is missing in action? Gotta wonder if they started work on a 14/16nm not-full-optimised chip design and aborted it when they realised it wouldn't be efficient enough over the BM1385 to be worth producing (Hello LK-1401)....

I think the 3 board design is here to stay aswell for them to have it on S7 and now S9.   I personally like it with a mining area, but can see why home miners would want a more S3'ish miner.    But likely remain odd numbers aswell I don't see a full all in one like S4's coming again.  I think selling AntMiner APW3-12-1600 separate is a pretty good bet for them as that is heck of a add-on sale if you can get people to buy PSU with miner.

But as far as efficiency I think they will manage to squeeze some more efficiency out of S9 chips.   Going to guess 30-45ish percent increase enough where it where people want it  basically.
689  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread May 24 to June 6? picks are closed!!.... prize = 0.10 btc on: June 03, 2016, 07:49:54 PM
Still seeing negatives which is nice,  hopefully we can manage a negative even if small.  I'm a tad bit of jaded and expect positives at this point, but would love to be wrong.

The great thing BTC took another jump up were seeing 572 at coinbase.  So were talking about a gain of around 30 dollars per bitcoin... which is pretty nice little jump.   If we hit 600 I think we will all be very happy.
690  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: No Mining = End of Bitcoin? on: June 03, 2016, 07:45:49 PM
No mining will be the end of Bitcoin for sure... but i dont think mining bitcoin will be end, like impossible to end. But perhaps there will be a competitor for bitcoin then maybe, just maybe bitcoin can 'end'.

But like many other say, there always be ppl who willing to do something not for sake of profit, but for fun...so yeah... long live BTC.

This thread keeps going on and on.  But I think we can all agree no matter what there would be some holdouts running miners for fun, to keep network up.  So there will never be no miners.... so it never "ends" bitcoin.

I personally don't see bitcoin going to worth nothing, I think it will continue to grow.  So likely hashrate will grow more .. and more.  If you look at amount of gear mining right now we are pretty secure from going to no mining.
691  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any Legit Sites To Earn Free Bitcoins on: June 03, 2016, 02:11:51 AM
Hi friends iam new to this bitcoin world iam attracted to it because as all know.... Grin Please give me the legit list of sites were we can earn free bitcoins i have heard landofbitcoin is legit....?

If you want faucet claim, faucetbox.com is the legit site. Also you can get bitcoin from resolve captcha at kolotibablo.com up to $0.7/1000 captcha and very legit Cheesy . thank you

Both captcha solving and faucets are very low paying compared to time put into it.  I honestly suggest learning a skill with that time, it won't pay off right away.  But if you get decent at coding, images, videos, etc.   You will make FAR more overtime.

In the end captcha and faucets just don't pay much.  So I consider it a waste of time for most.
692  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hacked account recovery? on: June 03, 2016, 02:09:57 AM
Hello! My account has been hacked (HotSwap) for sometime now and I have tried to contact someone about getting it back to no avail. Any thoughts on how I might get my account back?

Thanks for the help,

You will need to go to Meta.  In most cases you prove account with signing a BTC address posted in staking forum.   If you did not stake a address you will need to look for a post on forums with a bitcoin address you can sign in.

Have you went to Meta and made a thread?

No but I will now, thanks!

Not a problem!  Make a thread there with username and a link to a BTC address you posted with username (again much easier if staked).  But a signed message with that address, and then it's kinda waiting.

Best of luck with it.
693  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: problem s7 asic# on: June 03, 2016, 02:08:25 AM

It does not allow me to view screenshots might check links.  With spaces and stuff appears to be invalid.

Also I would try to switch PSU off working one to one that is not, to rule out PSU.  If you could post screenshot of status page (not sure if that is what you tried above).   But that shows us if 1 blade or all blades.  Just gives a little more info.

I am sorry i was reading the tutorial to attach image.. still unable to do it!

What site are you trying to upload images to?   If you have one I personally use photobucket and works perfect here, there are other options to.  I am kinda fond of photobucket after having so many pictures for reviews uploaded to it and it's still working great for me.
694  Other / Meta / Re: Account banned without warning on: June 03, 2016, 01:57:15 AM
Hello my account is banned without any notice. I have made this account to know why it happened it says 14 days from last 3 days any way to fix it i would be thankful.

Most likely you were banned for a reason. We need to know the username of the account in order to get that information.
You will usually be given no warning on your accounts ban.

Go up a few posts you will see it was user: Drakrmaster and reason was crap posts with sig.  - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1493479.msg15031111#msg15031111

Now he's claiming to be 2 different users is what I think you are getting confused with.  But it appears OP got caught entering a giveaway twice.
695  Other / Meta / Re: "Phishing attempt on bitcointalk email addresses" on: June 03, 2016, 01:52:25 AM
Kraken sent out emails to warn about phishing citing the following Reddit post.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/4m3op0/psa_phishing_attempts_reported_today_kraken_re/

Any word from the admins here? Has there been a breach?

There was a big hack a while back when they turned off security questions, due to some of db's being copied. Don't know if they ever posted full extent it was big enough Theymos offered a sizable reward and switched hosts ( I believe it's been a while).

But I'm hoping if it truly is from here it's a old DB from that.   I don't think there has been any new successful attempts.

697  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: June 03, 2016, 01:43:38 AM
Out of the 400PH, I am pretty sure most of that hashrate was the S4/S5/SP20 which will still keep running under free electricity.

The S3 and older will probably get mostly turned off.

I'm not sure on S5's there are still some places that have "free" or super cheap electricity.   The "free" electricity if they get some bargins on old gear espically.   Granted it is a smaller and smaller subset. And is most cases someone is still footing the bill for the electricity.

But I think S5's will remain on in some places even after having.   I'm not that lucky though I will be needing to be S7 or S9 myself after having.   (Kinda depends on what BTC does)

699  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Which firm of mining hardware providers is the best one? on: June 03, 2016, 01:01:34 AM
There is no US made hardware....Bitmain & Avalon (aka Canaan Creative) are the only ones selling NEW stuff.

Best bet I would say is old S3's or if you got money,new/used S7's  Wink

There was at one point with butterfly labs, although a lot of the stuff was still made out of country.  But we saw how they went and scammed so many people and lost a lot of people money.  Horrible shipping... etc.  So there was decent sized maker in US, they just were horrible and we have not seen a commercial sized one since (that I know of).

Best if going by efficiency is going to be S9.  Bitmain is kinda beating others to releasing next gen it looks like currently.
700  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread May 24 to June 6? picks are open!!.... prize = 0.10 btc on: June 03, 2016, 12:58:30 AM
I will be extremly happy if we end up with a negative out of it.  I keep wondering if we will see a next gen bump, seems like eventually it would.  But I also wonder how SP and KNC going out will effect hashrate (or of they already have keeping it low now).

Coinbase is almost to hit 340 its 339 and some change.   So value is going up slowly which is nice to see.
