Can you take responsibility for the whitepaper (and it“s development)? Or do we have someone who is responsible for it? How do we stand now?
Nobody is responsible right now. Editable Whitepaper is on our Wiki. No one is responsible = bad. Let me just ask some questions to get a clear picture, because i can't accurately pin down what is needed: 1) Who in the community has the knowledge and expertise to write in the white paper, or work out things that have been put in? Feel free to just name people. 1a) Do these people actually have time and are they willing to do the work? 1b) What do they need? Are there things missing that they definitely need to get started/continue? 2) Who knows of people who can do the audit and what exactly is needed for this audit? People who have already been contacted and said "no" don't count. 2a) If we don't know them, where can we look for them? 2b) I've seen names of "big" people in cryptography mentioned, but is this needed? If the proof is valid, does it matter if the "name" isn't big? This seems like an argument that only has marketing value, not mathematical value. 2c) If we can't get "big" names, is there anything to be said against taking a normal qualified person who can do the audit. These are some preliminary questions, just to get the situation clear. Once that is clear, maybe we can take further steps. If I missed anything out, please point it out to me.

Hi people, Just want to bring this up, again. How do we stand on the white paper and the audit? How can we get it done? Can I help? (or anyone from marketing?) Who do we need to contact and who can take point? We've all the things we need it seems, and the things we don't we can work on, am I correct? Can we organise getting this sorted? Guys,
I just talked to someone who went to the Tal Aviv Bitcoin Conference and talked to a few MAJOR cryptography professors.
These people basically waved him away, and don't take Nxt seriously because it hasn't got a white paper and no cryptographical PROOF of it's safety and protocols.
This is still a gap in our documentation that we have.
Normally I'd put this in the main thread, but I want to bring it up here, because this is įlso marketing.
The simple question is: do we have any idea of how the audit is going, and if not, can we get it? This falls, for me, under the heading of "product testing".
If we can get the stamp of approval from academics, this is a major boost. If we can be waved away because, realistically, we have an untested product (actual use doesn't count, it needs to be rigorous mathematical proof) which can be poo-pood at will.
Can I have your thoughts on this?
Edit: nice write up, Uniqueorn!

Currently: no. In a Group Skype conversations this was brought up about a week ago and BCNext has basically abandoned NXT (as was part of his plan), so we are now in 100% control of NXT. A whitepaper must be made by ourselves. Same with crypto-auditing, there is currently no math.
I also consider this one of the single most important thing we should get done quickly, together with getting more developers. NXT needs to have a robust core, if not then everything else we do will ultimately be useless.
Then let's get on this. We still need that audit and a white paper. Do we have *any* contacts that we can use for this? Who from the developers could have contacts. I'd hate for this to get washed away in the main thread again, so maybe we can talk to select people on PM for this, to make a more concentrated effort? At this point, it's very important, because now we always have the risk of someone pointing out that we may have working client and system, but basically no *proof* it is safe.

I WANT YOUR VOTE!Rickyjames has sent the top 500 members who post to this forum and have registered since before Feb 11 a ballot code I understand that NXT is bigger than the market price and bigger than a few mentions on podcasts. I understand that NXT can radically change the way the global economy works, cut out the fat cats and the government and let people trade freely and affordably amongst themselves. BUT NXT needs help it get there! I live in New York City, and I understand marketing with no budget. I have worked and managed in Michelin listed restaurants for almost 10 years now, and understand how to get the word out. I want to create awareness based on features and functions, not by following what DOGE did, podcasts, or hoping our Memes make it big on Reddit. I have connections with real honest to goodness Wall Street bankers, not that they are honest or good... I even sold one $10 worth of NXT at a holiday party! I am currently involved with the NXTopia project, creating a roleplay style sandbox MMO where you can buy, sell, and CREATE items in NXT. We have a great team and think this is going to be huge. I have been in NXT since mid-december, through the DDoS, past the Alias Auction, and into the future. I went all in on NXT and currently personally hold 340,000 that I have purchased, earned from bounties, and traded from LTC mining. Thanks, and looking forward to the MOOON! -jefdiesel track the progress here - https://www.electionbuddy.com/elections/12343/results/t34ayqhm2 Vote BrooklynBTC for Marketing Committee! +1 +1 Make me some food and we'll talk! Going over this, these are my first thoughts: 0.6 Btc for 2x3 squares here: https://1000bitcoinpage.com/index.phpDoesn't seem a site that is visited much. Also: just another "pixel-page". Wouldn't do it.Paid banners:http://thebitcoinnews.co.uk/product-category/bannerads/100,000 unique visitors monthly, while totaling over 3,9 million page views monthly $ 3,50 CPM for top of page. Seems doable. Don't like their layout, though [/i] Bitcoin Magazine http://btcmag.9wizards.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/BITCOIN-Pricing-List-Interactive-Issues-17-19_web.pdf300x250 / 620x79: $200/month In paper Magazine: $75-$450 (1/6 page - 1 page) 86.500 unique visitors monthly, while totaling over 237,000 page views monthly Say $ 2,32 CPM, but garantueed up for a month. A smart investor wouldn't trust ads Paid Press releases:http://thebitcoinnews.co.uk/product/5x-press-release-publication-on-the-bitcoin-news/1/0.15 Btc 1 article in 1 outlet? It all depends if we can actually target the people we want with these. Also needs very good article writing to succeed. Radio showshttps://www.freetalklive.com/advertise (Brian Sovryn: "the largest bitcoin/cryptocurrency audience in the world"): Radio :60s - $60 + Advertising Online Seeing as we already have LTB and access to joefox's material, no. I'd rather see his podcast take off, or someone else start a 2nd gen radio show.

Just spoke to the film guy and the answer is an immediate "yes". So we have a professional film maker to use at the conference.

They seem to be right there When I looked an hour ago we were at 2% and now we are at 18%, and second place Keep voting!

Thanks to everyone that has filled out the survey so far! I will be compiling these and sending them on. For those who haven't, or who just haven't seen it, the survey can be found here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=412243.msg5487600#msg5487600Treat it like a game, and don't make it too heavy If nothing else, your thought might spark someone else's ideas.

I see no panic. I see an exchange owner communicating in an open manner with his users and trying to do the right thing. Which is a rare thing these days...

|

I'd also like to have a relatively professional video maker/reporter blogger film some NXT reports from the conference, particularly if a serious NXTer is giving a speech/panel.
I didn't mention this before, but I have a very good friend who is a film maker for Dutch television. He also does one-man reports for television. He has his own gear, and would probably be willing to do this for just food and drinks. I'll send him an email tomorrow and report back.

Before I log off for the night, I want to ask people again to (even partially) fill in this questionnaire: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=412243.msg5487600#msg5487600The info you provide is important, because it will allow us to make a more coherent effort. I would like for as many people to be involved, not just "marketing". Thank you for the time!

Quick answer: we need a big pile of NXT. I'm working up a budget, but we are looking at a fairly big numbers. Check this out, while I put my list together.... http://bitcoin2014.com/This is a headline event for crypto in Europe, we need to bring our best game. I think if there is a chance to get more funds for conferences for the year (now 200.000 Nxt), we can use more than 20-40k for this event if it is important now and then start to look for new donations. Especially for the table with working Raspberri, this might be a viral thing. We definitely need a guy with a good camera to create awesome videos there. A video report is one of the things that we both were very enthousiastic about. So we will do that, period. It's fun and it's a great way to get footage that can be used in other ways. Good to hear about the funding. Maybe ebereon can build us one of his wonderful solar raspi/cubies? We really, REALLY need some technical cannon there, though.

Stack would be a better word or even smaller than that. Do we have a stand? Is anything planned already? I could chip in with *cough* fiat money *cough* to provide for stuff. For now it's bedtime (have to wake up at 06:15, grmbl). But I will read through that site! We want to have a lowest rung sponsor spot of 1500 euro. http://www.pdf-archive.com/2014/02/26/euros-bitcoin2014sponsorshipandexhibitoropportunities1/preview/page/4/Salsacz, can we have confirmation that is is OK? It's important due to planning! We also want to bring in a cubie or raspi of course and we would have a booth. We need to make a list of people we want to meet and contact them. We need to make and order our apparel and brochures and other things we haven't yet planned. EvilDave is now making a budget, so we can get approval by salsacz and then we will move quickly.

I already like what I am seeing (regarding the design you posted)! Thought so about nxt.org. Still sucks. They wanted to much money eh? Think it came by in the main thread. I wasn't referring to you about being more strict with bounties. That's more of a general remark. If we pay for it, we get a say in it, otherwise: good luck! So about Amsterdam: what do we need and what do we already have? nxt.org is being privately developed. It may well become beneficial to the community, but it is not community property. Dave will explain things for Amsterdam
