681  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: DyslexicZombei's Darkcoin Community MasterNode Svcs: CLOSED. Nodes 2 4 5 Refunds on: August 03, 2014, 06:16:05 AM
Sorry to hear that as well - I have also got several masternodes using the cold storage mechanism and have been running for months without issue.

Not sure what VPS service, Network configuration, Operating System or Darkcoin daemon version (possibly old) you have been using. Not being able to remote in and access servers with corruption etc doesn't sound like a darkcoin problem but possibly a OS configuration / VPS reliability issue.

As you can see from https://elbzo.net/masternodes.html there are now over 850 masternodes and the Darkcoin talk forums or darkcoin threads have not had any other people come in discussing instability or problems.

Possibly you could reach out to GhostPlayer who has been setting up Masternodes for many people who have been running without a hitch. There might be factors causing the issue that you might not have been aware of. i.e if you had antivirus software that was corrupting/blocking commits to certain wallet dat or system files etc.

All the best Smiley
682  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | RC4 Testing on: August 02, 2014, 12:11:35 PM

This is a point in time where:

* Investors and active supporters are holding
* Potential investors are sitting on the sideline waiting for code release
* Traders are sitting waiting for announcement of RC4 date
* Sellers have sold
* Price pressure is mainly from multi-pools

So, IMO, this is a moment in history where you can't complain about the entry point for Master Nodes.

One to two months ago people were saying Master Nodes were too expensive. Well, there is right this moment a temporary fix for that complaint. When people start saying that again in 2-3 weeks time, I will re-post this:

In the third week in July 2014, right before the unique DRK anon code was released to the world and DRKs were affordable, you should have bought in.  Instead, you decided to wait a little longer. That was your choice. You didn't want to take the risk on the uncertainty. Plenty of others were.

So now, stop fucking complaining about the high price of Darkcoins. There is no advantage to early investors, they were just prepared to use Google for a few hours to take a look at the anon options in the market and the issues around privacy and the lack of it in Bitcoin, Litecoin and many other coins.

These guys looked at the close relationship Darkcoin has with Bitcoin and Litecoin, and how these established coins could be at a disadvantage in some circumstances from their lack of privacy and how easily Darkcoin could be added alongside them to fix privacy issues for those that wanted that reassurance.

Yes there are other anon options, but which can be slotted next to Bitcoin and Litecoin without too much work, that is the question you must ask yourself as the price continues to steadily increase.

What is more than certain is that the high price you are complaining about now will simply continue to increase. If it hurts you to buy now, it will be completely out of your reach next month.

The only person you can blame for the high price of Darkcoin and your inability to afford a MN is you.

Book marked to quote when the whiners come in here screaming how expensive a masternode has become post RC4 - well you had your chance, but you most probably decided to go follow stupid pump trains instead of focusing on quality. Dont say we didnt warn you!

685  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cloakcoin's PoSA is not a trustless system for anonymous transaction on: August 01, 2014, 11:13:50 AM
Taken from another thread "What happens if Alty wants to send Cloakcoin to Joe but Joe is offline?"

Lol I think that breaks the matrix.

I would like to know as well:

how this design handles bad actors with the escrow block even though some have said the network doesnt even have escrow blocks and "if statements" are flawed and can be bypassed,
if one of the nodes is a bad actor and steals coins or deny's transactions
against taint analysis, sybil attacks, collusion, DDoS etc.

we should call the dev's into this thread to see if they are willing to respond.

Strasborg's self-moderated thread? I think I'll pass on that. He's an admitted Supercoin investor and that thread is a shameless promotional attempt to draw attention to Supercoin.

Not going to bother with your other answers as they were all excuses and diversions as to the heart of the problem that I exposed in my original statements.

But go look in the thread for #3 dont hide away like the cloak devs......I dont care who Strasborg is, there are many other contributors now laughing at cloak and exposing how flawed the design and diagram is.

688  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pros and Cons to Anon coins, Including Darkcoin / Cloakcoin, lets discuss them. on: August 01, 2014, 06:03:23 AM
Just a heads up on MasterMind710. He's responsible for the Cloak FUD subreddits and most of the baseless comments in the sections of Cloak related articles and videos. The only thing backing up his claims is his investment in DRK masternodes..

Moving forward.

1)
Since when is the right to privacy of developers a CON? Cloak developers have done more in the last month than most other coins have done in the last nine. Please explain to me how advocates of anon technology also advocate that developers reveal themselves in order for their work to be taking seriously. If you believe anon to be a negative factor in development, then the same argument will be made later down the road for merchants using anonymous currencies. Remember Satoshi was a fellow anon. Just because a new altcoin popped up with developers willing to expose themselves doesn't mean it is a recipe for success; Morever, this should not validate their work or their abilities.

I would hope the OP would reconsider his criteria for PRO/CON in relation to personal privacy.

2)
Please show me at least one alt-coin that has invested money into a high-level independent audit - closed or open. I'm not talking about Kristov Atlas, I'm saying a real authoritative audit from a place like www.opencryptoaudit.org. These places are backed up 3-5 months in advance and the costs are upwards of $50k+. It's comes out to around $5,000+ a week per auditor. It's one thing to sit in this forum and play armchair auditor it's another thing to do it for a living. I'm an investor for Cloak and I'm willing to fund 100% of the independent audit for PoSA. I doubt anyone here is willing to do the same for their investment. I'm already speaking with various candidates and their results will eventually be made public when finished. Dagger, the project lead for Cloak clocks in 20+hour days as do the others on the team. This type of commitment is all I need to validate my investment in a professional audit. The crypto space is one of the most vile and disgusting communities on the internet. Shameless promotions and baseless accusations are all the norm here. Innovation is ripped from another coin and re-branded almost the same day the source is published. It's not a surprise that developers who innovate are moving to more of a closed source development cycle to protect their investors.

Pony up and do the same for your coin because once these results come in your internal reviews won't hold a candle to Cloaks.

3)
A detailed diagram has been released that outlines the inner workings of the Proof-Of-Stake Anon (PoSA) protocol. There is a public beta available for Cloak's PoSA. Feel free to join the IRC #CloakCoin. There are 7 core developers working on Cloak in addition to 5 other developers working on supporting projects. Anyone of them is available to answer questions. There is a diagram on the way that will be easier to read for those who have trouble understanding this one.

Update:

There's been quite a lot of pressure for us to release in greater details, information about our finished anon product.

The whitepaper was deliberately made sparse to avoid attempts at copying from an early stage.

Cloak PoSA is well advanced now so we can now reveal a more indepth paper that shows how our finished Proof of Stake Anonymity system works.

PoSA is entirely trustless and solves the Byzantine Generals problem.

1) There are so many scams in the altcoin world - anonymous devs usually now have something to hide. If you have the skills and experience to code something this complex you had better have the experience and industry experience to back it up. My opinion is that cloak dev's are high school kids based on their basic attempts at diagrams and immature non-professional language, meaning they have limited experience in the corporate world.

2) I call utter bullshit, I will organise escrow right now if you are willing to fund the 50k+ review for cloak. You might as well throw it down the drain. Additionally you wouldn't even be considered with that hilarious diagram, do you even know the pre-requisites required for a review board. I guess not.

3) Please head over to this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=713836.msg8130099#msg8130099 where there are already flaws being discussed in the diagram and how trivial it really is.
689  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DARKCOIN BIG SCAM?? let's take a closer look on: August 01, 2014, 04:43:27 AM
1. Dark coin (called some other name back then) was launched  and the BLOCK EXPLORER shows a HUGE amount of blocks being instamined almost.....well INSTANTLY.

These are the points how scam coins are starting be careful.

outstanding investigator, I cant believe you are the first to post this, congratulations you have just won $1,000,000

WTF so the only thing I can see is Alty sends the coin to POSA #1 node, the POSA#1 node sends the coin to Joe and then Joe finds a Posa #2 node...then the Posa #2 sends the coin BACK to Joe???

what the hell is the point of that and how is it anonymous?

We're going to make another diagram to explain this better with visuals.  The key is things are being sent to temporary addresses.  I'll come up with something better soon.

Think of it like this.

You -> PosA Node #1 -> Receiver (temp address) -> PoSA Node #2 -> Actual Receiver Address

PoSa Node #1 and #2 knows its safe to send to the Receiver temp address because of block escrow, a new transaction in the blockchain that is verified by all peers just like how normal transactions are.

It's ANON because PoSA Node #2 uses different 'cloak' then what he received to send money to you breaking the trace.

You could think of it like this.

Bob has $50, wants to send $50 to alice.  All his dollars are tainted with the letter B.  If you send the money to alice you can see the B's and you know it's from Bob.

If the money from PoSA Node#2 came from someone else (different traces) and was sent to the receiver it's Anon.  Essentially Alice see's money with different letters on it, say C or something.

This is what is happening in the final steps, this does require that the PoSA Nodes actually have the money to send so balance checks would be in place.
FUD[/b]

Are you seriously going to say all this after you have just been posting in the DRK forum trying to pump the price past 0.01? Christ man!

Ah I am trying to understand it....if the dev's release a diagram, I have the right to ask questions. Especially if its unprofessional and the dev's come back with "ill think of something better next time"

If you cant understand it yourself, how the fuck is everyone else supposed to? In my opinion that diagram will do more harm than good.

Yes I bought cloak, but now its sold...

So essentially all the TRUST in this system is with the block escrow??? what happens if the escrow is tampered or a bad actor??

I still dont understand when you use words like "It's ANON because PoSA Node #2 uses different 'cloak'"

That diagram is a mess. I am trying to work out the flow but the language used is like the boxes are having a chat (conversations) with each other  Huh

thats why it is called a flow chart.

there is no flow...a flow chart has a beginning and an end...

and diamonds for if/true/false statements etc

Croutons Continuing Comedy Coding Cataclysm - Masternode Tools v0.2 reports: 843 Masternodes.  Smiley

Wow that is awesome.  I think we are going to break 1k Masternodes easy by the end of August...

Total Masternodes: 866 = 840 actives + 26 inactives
and counting.....>

Awesome!.

Everyone is used to looking at hashing power as a sign of popularity & security. Now we will have both hash and masternode count as a sign of security and network service distribution living together in equilibrium.

Does anyone have any contacts at Coindesk? An updated article about RC4 is needed, this should help DRK prepare for the upcoming update/rise.

Not sure, I think Stan Higgins usually writes some altcoin stuff on Coindesk, dont have his contact details.

Either way there is loads of new information, just point them to:
