681  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Lost wallet or something like that on: October 26, 2023, 11:02:55 AM
But I can not remember much more to answer questions.
I think it is all lost then.
Thanks for all who tried to help.

Yep, if you can't remember anything more than that, you can consider whatever you had in that wallet lost. It won't help you to think about what could have been.

But as a side note, you could give it a shot by going back through all your notes from that time, if you've got any. I'm in the habit of jotting down all sorts of stuff and little reminders on paper, and I almost never throw away my old notebooks. You never know what you will find there that might jog your memory.
682  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can someone explain how liquidation works ? on: October 26, 2023, 07:19:41 AM
This liquidity of a thing ...

OP asked about liquidation (in terms of trading), not liquidity. Don't try to explain things you don't understand yourself.
683  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: SCAM upozorenja Zbirni topic on: October 25, 2023, 11:51:14 AM
Ali ako ti i Lunorael više volite platili onda go for it  Wink

Quote
What paywalls can be removed?
There are two types of paywalls that block articles: hard paywalls and soft paywalls. The difference is that soft paywalls are used to cover the article, but the article is on the page. Hard paywalls do not have the article until the user pays. This means that there is no way to see the article unless you pay. One example of this is TechCrunch premium articles. The best way to know would be to test the article and see if the paywall is removed. If not it is most likely a hard paywall that cannot be removed.

Dakle Jutarnji list, slično kao i TechCrunch, koristi tzv. hard paywall koji se ne može ukloniti bez pretplate, dok Bloomberg i Washington Post koriste soft paywall.

Nije to full clanak. Nema veze, nesto smo nabavili samo nije bas dobra kvaliteta
Mislim da je to full web članak sa jutarnjeg, možeš pogledati da je tako sa drugim člancima, a možda je offline papirna verzija članka veća.

685  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you keep a record of winnings and losses in gambling? on: October 25, 2023, 09:30:55 AM
Do you keep a record of winnings and losses in gambling? Many here will feel that this is waste of time and will also not let them enjoy the game peacefully. Do you also have same mentality?

I used to be one of those gamblers who'd write down all my gambling wins and losses, thinking it'd help me make smarter bets.  But I realized it kinda took the fun out of everything.  I was so focused on the stats that I wasn't really enjoying myself and  these days when I gamble, I just try to relax and have a good time instead of stressing over every little win or loss. I feel like its better for me that way. Gambling should be about having fun, with the possibility of winning occasionally, but you shuldn't devote your life to it and try to make it your primary source of income. That's a wrong way of thinking, imho.

How about you - do you keep close track of your gambling results? Or are you more a seat-of-the-pants player who goes with the flow?

I think that there was a similar thread regarding keeping record of gambling winnings and losses.
Not keeping records makes me a bad gambler?

You're right; discussions about keeping records in gambling do come up from time to time. I feel like we get at least a couple threads on it throughout the year. It's always a good practice to take a quick look through old posts first before starting a new conversation about something that's been covered already.
686  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buttons and tools on: October 25, 2023, 07:39:07 AM
Is it just me that doesn’t see the checkboxes on the right hand side of the screen as shown in one of the  OP's images under "Thread Marking", or is it a general thing. I’ve looked over the forum settings to see if there’s an entry to configure viewing the column, but haven’t managed to find it. I’ve tried it with different browsers but still I can’t get to see the said column. Not that I’d probably use it, but I’m wondering why I can’t see the darn column.

To set this up, navigate to your Profile, then go to Look and Layout Preferences. Look for the option labeled "Show quick-moderation on message index as" (should be the last in the list) and set this to "checkboxes".
687  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buy on growth on: October 24, 2023, 01:50:20 PM
Hi all. How to buy more when growing? Today we are growing, but I don’t want to buy. Share your experience in this matter.

What experiences? If you want to buy, then buy; if you don't want to buy more, then don't! How come you're interested in "how to buy" if you don't want to buy? Make up your mind!

But if the point of your question is that you don't want to buy because it is currently "growing", then wait for it to stop growing. Or better yet, buy when the price drops. But I guess you're not interested then because it's not growing, right?
688  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Gambling Generally An Illicit Activity? on: October 24, 2023, 10:23:08 AM
<cut>
So, after i saw that Gambling was mentioned or listed among the listed illicit activities through which money can or could be laundered, I can't help but wonder if gambling is actually an illicit activity.

The wiki article you cited only gave a couple examples, possibly the most common, of illegal activities from which "dirty" money comes that needs to be laundered. Obviously, they can't list everything illegal out there. As for gambling being an illegal activity, it depends on local laws and regulations. In many jurisdictions, there are legal gambling activities, such as state lotteries, licensed casinos, and online betting platforms. These get watched closely by regulators.  But other areas completely ban all gambling or unregulated betting making it against the law. So it varies place to place whether gambling gets you dirty money or not.
689  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My little research. on: October 23, 2023, 12:44:54 PM
OP, I find your topic a bit confusing. Sounds like you wanna invest in Bitcoin long-term, but you also mention something about accepting Bitcoin in your business? Not totally clear if you're trying to invest, use Bitcoin in your biz, or maybe something else? It'd help if you could explain whether youre looking into investing or bringing Bitcoin into your operations - or I guess it could be both.

what if one is not a salary earner ?

It doesn't matter. Your income source doesn't limit your ability to engage with Bitcoin, especially if you are a business owner.
690  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What advice for businesses exploring crypto payment gateways? on: October 23, 2023, 12:32:36 PM
Why have you moved this topic to Altcoin Discussion? Are you specifically referring to alternative cryptocurrencies with the term "crypto payments," or does it also include Bitcoin?
691  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin on BNB (Binance Smart) Chain on: October 23, 2023, 09:19:48 AM
I should start selling Loycified Bitcoins, they're worth 1 LB = 1 BTC! I'll hide behind a shell company on the Cayman Islands, and if I disappear, well, let's say I trust myself more than I trust Binance Cheesy

Not a bad idea at all! As far as I'm concerned, you have more street cred than CZ. No joke. I would buy into that.  Grin
692  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I just created Bitcoin multi signature wallet for the first time. on: October 23, 2023, 07:44:23 AM
With single-sig, all your eggs are in one basket.  Lose the key, lose everything. But multi-sig spreads things out so you need more than one key to unlock the funds.  Even if one key is lost you can still recover access with the others (for example two-out-of-three signature setup).  This gives you backups. Multi-sig wallets have clear benefits, especially for redundancy and security and  you can't really compare them to single-sig wallets since they serve different purposes and give you varying levels of protection.

Storing your keys in more than one place under single-sig provides you with multiple backups.

Of course, having multiple backups for your keys in a single-sig setup will enable you that you can still access your assets even if one set of keys becomes lost for some reason. However, you still have a single point of failure. If any of these locations are compromised and your key is exposed (for example, stolen), your assets are lost. Therefore, multi-sig (or Shamir's secret sharing algorithm in the case of seed phrases).

That doesn't seem much different than having a single-sig setup with backups.

Not true. Read how the multi-sig wallet actually works because I don't think you fully understand.

I think for most a better and much more simple solution would be making use of passphrases/hidden wallets.

This has nothing to do with a multi-sig wallet setup.

Who said it did? Sure multi-sig may be a great option for you depending on your situation. I'm sure many institutions, companies and organizations make use of multi-sig.
But for the average individual joe, it is rather complex and difficult to manage, and there are more simple viable alternatives.

I disagree. We can argue that multi-sig wallets can indeed be seen as a bit more complex and require careful management, but, the added complexity comes with a higher level of security.
However, there are no "simpler viable alternatives" that offer the same, or at least nearly the same, level of security. This is evident from the simple fact that multi-sig wallets are preferred choice for those who prioritize safeguarding their assets, especially in business settings, when it comes to holding hundreds of thousands of bitcoins in cold wallets.
693  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin on BNB (Binance Smart) Chain on: October 22, 2023, 11:55:00 PM
No, it's not possible to directly receive Bitcoin on a Binance Coin (BNB) address. You can, however, receive something called "Wrapped Bitcoin", but it is not Bitcoin.
I do not think OP is referring to wBTC which is existing as an ERC20 token and maybe on other network, but I do not think it is existing as a BEP20 token. What could have confused OP is sending pegged coin (altcoins that novice called bitcoin) on Binance network (BSC or BEP2) which could be confusing and thought to be bitcoin. On wallet that support such altcoin, it is called BTCB.

Yes, that's what I meant – BTCB tokens.

I know that "wrapped Bitcoin" generally refers to WBTC (ERC20), but Binance also refers to the BTCB token as "wrapped Bitcoin."

Introducing the BTCB, 1:1 wrapped Bitcoin on BNB Smart Chain.

BTCB is a BEP2/BEP20 asset wrapped (pegged) on BNB Beacon Chain/BNB Smart Chain with a 1:1 peg to BTC locked on the Bitcoin blockchain.

Hi
Is it possible to receive Bitcoin on BNB?

No, it's not possible to directly receive Bitcoin on a Binance Coin (BNB) address. You can, however, receive something called "Wrapped Bitcoin", but it is not Bitcoin.
If you want to receive Bitcoin, you'll need a Bitcoin wallet on the Bitcoin blockchain.

Quote
I received the transaction and I have checked the TX on a number of Blockchain sites and it appears to be a genuine Transaction Hash but I am unable to access the BTC coins, I am assuming that is because it is on the wrong network.

If the transaction appears confirmed on legitimate blockchain explorers, then it is most likely genuine. However, this also depends on which network you check using the blockchain explorer and whether it matches the network on which you expect a transaction.

Quote
Is there a way of checking if the transaction is real other than the Transaction Hash.

It shows on Bitcoinchair, BscScan, OKX.com,BSC Trace but not on other Blockchain sites.

Generally, the transaction hash (TXID) is all you need to verify the transaction. What do you mean by "other Blockchain sites"? Give a specific example.
695  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Looking for a partner for a crypto project on: October 22, 2023, 10:26:49 PM
You need to be a little more specific, what kind of cooperation? Are you looking for developers, marketers, investors, or something else? Also, I'm sure many forum members would appreciate at least a hint or general information about the project before they decide to reach out.
696  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I just created Bitcoin multi signature wallet for the first time. on: October 22, 2023, 10:03:59 PM
What if the others who you are entrusting to keep your private keys safe for you, loses your keys? Well then I guess you are screwed.

The problem with a multisig setup is you have to trust someone else to secure your keys for you, which introduces counterparty risk.
That seems to go against the ethos of bitcoin which is supposed to be trustless.

That's a wrong assumption. You can, for example, create a multi-sig wallet and be the sole owner of all keys.

I think for most a better and much more simple solution would be making use of passphrases/hidden wallets.

This has nothing to do with a multi-sig wallet setup.
697  Other / Meta / Re: Solution to account seller? I think on: October 22, 2023, 04:55:46 PM
Someone should create a trap account that advertises itself as someone who sells forum accounts so we can once and for all mark the account buyers,

That won't accomplish anything. Anyone can create hundreds of newbie accounts and use them to buy forum accounts.

It's also foolproof too if the one who does the entrapment is smart enough to lead on the buyer to their main account which is the likely thing that's going to happen.

Even if they have a "main" account on the forum, there is no way for someone to force them to reveal it.

can you imagine the comedy that will unfold if two people who are pretending to be an account buyer/seller to catch an account buyer/seller accidentally talked to each other and try to expose one another 😂

Haha! Exactly! It would be like a game of "he said, she said" where anyone can start pretending to be a buyer or seller. Good luck figuring out who's telling the truth.
698  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAMMER] Karthik Sakthivel - Ozone Chain - Did not pay Bounty Hunters on: October 22, 2023, 12:40:57 PM
I sent the Scam accusation link to Karthik, and he replied me like Eris will talk with me, please hold on. Let's see what happen. I will not close this accusation until the issue got fixed for sure.

I'm truly sorry to hear you went through that mess with Ozone Chain. If they come back to make things right, great, but don't be surprised if it's just more stalling BS. That hospital line gets tossed around a lot when scammers need to buy time and string people along and  you seem smart enough to recognize their typical tricks.  Hope it all works out in the end, but sounds like you got taken for a ride. Don't let them take advantage of you again.  Stand your ground and remember whats already happened.  Best of luck getting this sorted.
699  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Importance of emotion while trading on: October 22, 2023, 07:06:53 AM
One last piece of advice: don't mix trading and drinking. Trust me on this based on my experience.

Of course, in the same way that you should not drink alcohol when you go to the casino, which many gamblers disregard and which is why they are very profitable for casinos.

If casinos didn't want us to drink while gambling, they wouldn't be serving us free booze, right?  Wink

I know we are going off-topic here, but this stuff has been talked about a million times already.  Seems like the OP just copied some stuff they found online to make it look like they had an original thought and  they probably just wanted people to respond so they could get merits or something.
700  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coins.ph hacked, $6 million lost? on: October 21, 2023, 10:33:18 AM
It's surprising that no reliable news outlets have reported on this incident yet, despite it happening yesterday. The amount lost is quite substantial, and one would expect it to be covered by popular TV stations like ABS-CBN, TV5, and GMA. However, there's been no news from these sources. I even tried searching on YouTube and couldn't find any reports from those channels. It's very likely that this is just FUD, a tactic to spread panic now that the market is in bullish mode.

First of all, $6M is not such a big amount, it's actually just a drop in the ocean when considering the entire crypto market. Second, Coins.ph is a local exchange, primarily popular in the Philippines and relatively unknown in the rest of the world. According to CoinMarketCap, it is ranked on 470th place with a daily volume of just over $650,000 (approximately 22 BTC).

Moreover, if these allegations are merely FUD, why haven't they denied them yet? Also, what about the "Your funds are SAFU!" statements on Twitter?
