Members, reputable members. Was it better before back then when this forum was without merits or is it better or even much better now with merits? Please explain your answer so users like me can get an idea how it was and what you prefer. Smiley
Beyond all reasonable doubt, the merit system has helped reduce the population of alt farmers, Plus the fact that strict measures are being taken should anyone be found in the very act -- note... it hasn't ELIMINATED them, it only created a boundary that'd take only a guru to bypass.. which would most likely be revealed with time.

I wasn't there before the merit system, but with the evidences from most prominent members at the time, I feel the forum was assumed the worst place if you ever wanted to read on some crypto valuables... Theymos made a Good decision.

I don't think nobody gambles for fun... I keep saying this everyday in here; no matter how it sounds -- who would maintain such faithfulness when they know too well that anyone could possibly win good cash? Has anyone grown into addiction from just playing for fun? If not, then playing for fun isn't accountable at all.

To be more factual, addicts are compulsive gamblers that are always ready to adapt to new strategies to WIN -- though they've been flopped by over a thousand already.. nobody would do anything that doesn't pay, talkmore of wasting money on it...

So what has been your experiences with gambling recently? Have you seen any games that impressed you?
For me personally I really liked the provably fair blackjack at Stake. I wish there would be more single player card games that are also provably fair.
I've not had any recent experience in gambling though, but I think I have had some tough experiences during the few years I worked for a local casino house.

I really like the option of multiple deposit methods -- especially, allowing direct funding from crypto wallets (which generally covers the fact that Bitcoin and other altcoins are accepted). I also like how easily accessible it is to wager, even at the comfort of your home.

I played Roulette on a casino three days ago and it was obviously my first-time playing Roulette, I literally didn't understand my way out and I just knew I should select a number and click on spin. I did that obediently and time after time, I lost. I was really motivating myself with the next spin, and next and next, but all to no avail, I was lost in the ride until I drained my deposit for the day's gambling, that time It dawned on me that my Ignorance has contributed to my parallel losses for the day, I just logged out and ended that day's session disappointed.
you fucked up big time... Why would you even register on a casino site that you've got zero knowledge about? What did you expect?? If there wasn't any other bad things to have happened by then -- maybe like getting your funds freezed or ordering a wrongly timed withdrawal request , then I'll definitely say you're lucky... Honestly!

it was actually your fault... I'm happy you accepted that and you also found a demo option to learn up for a broader experience next time. I understand we could always wanna try new stuffs just because we've heard too much good/ bad about it...

685  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does casino streamers have influence in your gambling life? on: December 27, 2023, 09:40:02 PM
I came across on YouTube where a gambling casino social influencer was streaming about a casinos platform.
He literally brought out his phone and was illustrating to the audiences that it is just few steps to take the winning on your games which is making choice of your predictions, choose amount to bet and also indicate his hashtag referral code and click on confirm.
Immediately you get credited directly to your account that just you won.
I just smiled but I want to ask, how many of you guys develops interests on a particular casino platform due to the influence of the casinos streamers?
it'll definitely be the lamest decisions to make; casino streamers are never to be trusted for Thier words since they'd say anything as long as you register on a site... Aren't they getting commissions for that?

meanwhile, alot of peeps are getting into this bondage unknown to them...they sometimes find it like an opportunity to venture into new things and at that point, the big failure starts.. I'd say, if it were on social media platforms, a celebrity would play the same role too.

686  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tips to avoid compulsive thoughts related to anxiety on: December 27, 2023, 09:13:08 PM
Having problematic behaviors related to gambling, such as chasing profits, thinking you can best the house, that your luck will turn etc. has a lot to do with anxiety.
alright, I'm not doubting you.. the anxiety is real -- the eagerness and selfthreat is real too.. but how do you wager comfortably on games without being thoughtful about the outcome?? ain't nobody cares if it's fun or not...
Quote
In many countries there are readily available resources and public infrastructure though which people can seek and receive assistance for issues like addictions.
what's the sense is allowing a pandemic just to look for solutions to cure the casualties??
Quote
The way to deal with related thoughts when they emerge is to have a mental response that is full of logical arguments each time these feelings come up. Think of why anxiety isn't a reasonable feeling, think of your schedule, why it's not worth to gamble again etc. These can depend on each person's circumstances.
I don't know if you do have a full understand of what you call ADDICTION... You see, all this things you mentioned practically sounds easy to execute, but difficult in reality... Only if you can understand that some situations would leave you no other option than to fumble..

I was surprised when I read the post title. There's nothing wrong if someone who is mentally unstable wants to gamble.
did anybody say it's wrong for a mentally derailed person to gamble? .... Okay, if anyone said so, atleast not me... I don't think there's any problem with that.... But, how's he even gonna coordinate his thinking to choose his tickets and odds?? Basically, I feel the best predictions come from peeps who are updated with a team's current performance -- if so, then that brings another question... Do we have local viewing centers for mentally derailed people to watch livegames??... I don't believe in the fact that people are being told how to bet in their dreams - especially, the said set of people.

688  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should security be employed in local bet shop? on: December 26, 2023, 09:54:55 PM
For those persons who prefer gambling in local bet shops instead of gambling online. I know that most times some persons carry huge sums of money to come to gamble and I understand that if it was a local casino there would be securities. Now, in the local bet shop, why are there no securities?
how much do you think the casino makes a month to be able to pay the security personnels and the cashiers at the same time?? Plus other hidden expenses like repairs, fuel, rim of papers for the printers etc??.. do you really think managing a business is that easy??

I'm not also saying it's not a good idea to have securities onboard; TBH, I've seen other MEGA shops with securities, security cameras, free booking systems, relaxation bay, sick bay, free refreshments for regular gamblers etc.... It all depends on the turnovers...

I'm a Gambling Affiliate and something is bothering for some time. In most of the casino affiliate programs that I registered to, I can make a little amount of money or nothing at all. Did anybody encountered a similar problem?
..and a little mistake could contradict the whole meaning in the context - for some seconds, I kept wondering what your point was until I decided to figure it out from other people's response...

well, affiliate programs ain't no easy task - you may be unfortunate to sign an affiliate contract with a casino that's marked with bad reputation already (sometimes hidden) -- so promoting them is like throwing shit to the wall to see if it sticks.. it could also harm your reputation as a promoter too..

How come you're against increased stakes especially when they're on loss?? Isn't that what a regular gambler believes?? Isn't that one of the strategies y'all feel okay with? Atleast I've been reading all through y'all guides and informative threads.. it's says and I quote; "when losing, try to increase your stakes on the best possible odds.. that way, if you hit a win, you'll cover up everything you've lost already"... Good!! The question is - what if you don't hit a win? Let's assume you lost $40 and you increased them stakes to about - say $100 and kept on wagering for sometime before hitting the win finally, do you actually think your PW could equate the ones you've lost for everytime you wagered?? Let's better be sensible for ones....

To that point of yours, I agree...

Bets can not force one to stake, but a gambler can force themselves to stake a bet, even when he or she does not have money to bet. Some gamblers did not learn how to gamble.
do you understand what the term ADDICTION means?.. I guess you don't cus you won't be writing all this incongruous words... Why do you think a sane person that hustles hard to make ends meet can't leave a particular attitude even when it involves spending the same money they've been struggling to have??? Does that look forceful to you?
Quote
They just see themselves doing it, but they can't stop it. Why because they can't control themselves, even when they are not an addicted gambler?
What do we have to say about this?
Total wack! A person that finds it difficult to stop gambling is an ADDICT..

If you walk into a casino with $200 and you start playing with that $200 and you win $200, get the hell out, you simply just doubled your money, take your goddamn leave, what do you think you wanna do? Win a million dollars? You will go home empty handed.
This is one of the hardest task to evade as a gambler.... When once a gambler wins, it's a ticking time-bomb to explode and find other innovative ways (if not the same route) just to win more and more... Sometimes, they know too well the intricacies of gambling again, but they still have that inward, daft feeling that everything's gonna be okay... How???

okay... In a case where the gambler wagers everything and nothing shows forth, what happens??..

Why won't any sane gambler find casino reviews interesting?.. look, it's not even about your interest mostimes,..why? Cus there's every tendency that you agree to try out a casino that you don't like, just for them bonuses and an unusual liberation.... E.g; some casino's withdrawal fees could possibly hit hard on the nerves and gamblers would still trade that comfortably for the fame and reliability of the casino...alot of peeps would still use Thier route comfortably, as long as Thier funds are safe..

Them reviews are basically about thier modus operandi, T/C's, serenity and odds too.

I can't tolerate any dms from any stranger at all... If I don't know the source of the dms/links, I'd simply ignore and move on... people are likely to get into trouble for being enticed on things they see over the internet... I seen alot of post about internet fraud and their new avenues; anyone can possibly be victimized but,..that's why you need to keep your corners clean...

secondly, I don't accept offers that are brought to me ... If it's actually a type that'll pay me at the end ....why?? ain't nobody would prefer bringing an offer to you for free without having hidden interest... They can sometimes try to encourage/help you to register on an unknown site.. I don't entertain such discussions.. so far,.. I've been free from fraudulent activities like that...

Here are two things to take note of before gambling
1.have a budget:it's very crucial to set a budget, decide how much money you are comfortable spending on gambling
Op, have you realized how many times this particular topic has been deliberated already???... People read the forum everyday and any topic that gets repeated...no matter how it is; edit, spin, twist, interchange etc .. it all explains the same fact.

back to the topic, most gamblers only read for reading sake..; if they could register on sites without even reading 'em T/C's, how much more on reading threads that'd help reduce the risk of addiction or increase responsible gambling??  Some gamblers don't even know when they get addicted... They feel that's their best moment to play freely...

So my question is that can't it be possible for someone to buy bitcoins and hodl it at a specific price such that even if the price dips it won't affect the Bitcoins you have hodl in your wallet?
you quickly bought Bitcoin because the price was increasing day by day... Is that what you call HODLing?? How do you expect an increment in your coin with the little movement and price action, considering the volatility and everything??..

There's a designated time to buy and HODL; that's the DIP..  it's advisable as that'll augment the VALUE, not the QUANTITY... Take note. You said it already that the price of cryptocurrencies are unstable,... Are you supposed to jump into the market like that??  that's why you ought to learn and develop yourself first..

Do not click on ads, especially Google ads. But people will not listen.
I see this eventualities as common mistakes people make...on the other hand, you could also be trying to evade this ads and they'll forcefully pop-up on your screen, sometimes leaving you with no other option than to close that particular tab ... What if you were halfway through an authentication process on the said tab?? What happens in that case?.. quite fraustrating!!

so for every browser, I try as much as possible to induce the ad blocking; it has it disadvantages though but since nothing's popping up my screen to disrupt me, I'm fine...

To login I had to go thru over 50 captcha is this normal if you have a clean ip (not blacklisted)?
it's not normal... AFAIK, it's not even about your IP and stuff... It could possibly be a glitch for everytime it tries to display the images on the captcha.. it happened to be and I know how fraustrating it can be.

Is this normal if your using tor browser?
I think sometimes, your browser plays a major role on that too. you shouldn't be having no problems if you're actually browsing on Tors.. I remember all I just had to do was switch my browser and it worked..
off topic; wait... You back? I seriously had to rush down to your profile to look up... I hope you get over your challenges...it ain't over yet.

Hopefully, the number of alts might drop if/when 2FA becomes mandatory. (And new users should have to employ 2FA automatically)

Can we have a shield to indicate we have 2FA enabled, please?
Kudos.
okay... I've been wondering how that would reduce the number of Alts? Hope I understood you clearly?... My bad, I haven't checked through the Google Authenticator to see how it works...
Could you explain how mandatory 2FA leads to less alts? After all, it's app-based 2FA.
that's exactly how confused I became when I first read his statement... Maybe timelord thinks the Authenticator could detect IPs to some point?
No, you will not receive a code in the mail. It has nothing to do with mail at all. To use 2FA you need to install the Google Authenticator application, scan the QR code that is present in your profile with the help of this application and when logging in to the forum enter the numbers that this application gives you.
Xal, is it safe to assume that this authentication process cannot be made to synchronize with just one device?.. cus scanning out the code on the app would definitely need two devices..

It's pretty disappointing that some people don't understand how BTC works, I will show you a great example of how someone could lose a lot of money just because they don't understand the basics of the asset they invest in.
Anybody could fall a victim... It happened to me and I made an extensive thread in the T/C board about it.. I made a broadcast on a transaction from T/W to an exchange and it got stucked on the way. The big problem was that T/W doesn't have an option to bump a txn fees or cancel a transaction, talk more of having a supporting option to run RBF or CPFP .. i actually broadcasted the transaction way below the mempool's  minimum fees at the time.. about 15sats/vbyte.

my advice to every newbie in the system with similar issues is to either run an RBF like Mikey said; most importantly, use supportive wallets... Electrum, blue wallet etc would do Alot of help too.
