681  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does gambling excites you ? on: March 28, 2024, 03:47:01 PM
Hi,

There are always things that we are passionate about doing, such as video games, football, basketball, and sports in general, meaning that everyone has something that excites them and makes them want to do.
Like others, I get very excited when I sit down, take my phone, and start my bets. This does not mean that I am addicted, but rather I find it more comfortable and I have more fun.

Does gambling excites you? What motivates you, winning or just the fun in it ?
First I'm a football lover, so I kinda find sports betting a bit fun, because I'm familiar with the game and the players. It's more interesting when you start winning your bets, it keeps you encouraged. You know there's is a different kind of feelings when you permutate different games and their possible outcome and at the end of the day it comes out exactly the way you predicted it, outside the the fact that you will get monetary rewards, it makes you feel like a super human at that moment.
682  Economy / Economics / Re: The benefits of risk taking on: March 28, 2024, 02:29:09 PM
Risk is when a person is exposing him/her self to dangers, possibility of incurring loss or misfortune
So many people run away from business opportunities just because they fear they will run into loose and didn't want to take such risk
I have come to the realization that the word risk is part of life and that it is better you take part in it than not
From history it has been said that the great entrepreneur and business men/woman where all risk takers when you take risk you throw your self to the real of possibilities
There is no doubt about the fact that, it is good to take risk, in fact those who have succeeded in winning big especially in gambling, are big risk takers as some will even tell you that, it's too risky not to take risk. But however it is good to take a calculated Risk, not just anyhow Risk. It's not all business that involves risk, a lot of businesses are less risky with a lot of profit margin, while some way very risky with higher profit margin. OP I will like to correct one impression you made, "when you take risk you throw yourself to the real of possibilities" the truth is when you throw away risk, you also threw away caution with it, and that's not good for an entrepreneur whose soul aim is to make profit out of a business. So in involving yourself into any business, there is need to calculate the risk factors before getting yourself involved.
683  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: March 28, 2024, 02:05:14 PM
I assume PSG would be the only team Zidane would be interested in if he becomes okay with managing a team again. His wish has been to manage France indeed but it doesn't look like he will get the opportunity in the near future for now. I would really like to see Zidane managing PSG some day. I believe they can be more successful with him.

He would only need to be free about building the team according to his own system. PSG have a lot of money so they can do the same as Manchester City have done for Guardiola. But before anything else I don't know whether Zidane would think of such agreement with them.  Sad
If Zidane manages PSG, they will certainly do better than their current state in terms of European competitions. Though a lot of people would argue that Real Madrid had star players when he was there, so the job was made easy for him. But given the posture he had with Madrid and the tactics he introduced to the Madrid team, I believe he can do better at PSG. So a lot of people are hungry to see how incredible he can be in another club. PSG is one of the biggest football clubs in his home country France. so for me he should try and give them shot, he has been out of the scene for too long.
684  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: March 27, 2024, 09:08:27 PM
There is no information about De Bruyne yet, let's hope that the injury is not so serious. It became known that Walker will be able to play against Arsenal, the injury was not serious, this is good, but with Ederson everything is not so good, according to preliminary forecasts he will be able to return to the game in mid-April, so he will most likely miss the games with Arsenal and Aston Villa, and also possibly the first game with Real Madrid in CL
If De Bruyne can't play, I think Man City's attack will decrease a little more because I see De Bruyne is the brain of the attack regulator for Man City. When he can't play, Man City's game patterns will definitely change a little and too many players who cannot play will be quite detrimental to Man City. I hope the injury is not too severe and he can play for the big match because when they lose points in this match it will make them a little difficult to pursue champions.

If this happens Arsenal will be a little more profitable and they can play more openly and not too worried about Man City's quick attack patterns. Despite losing some important players in Pep Guardiola's squad will not make their game change completely but Arsenal can be a little easier to target the draw.
Well, if De Bruyne can't play it wouldn't change much on the side of the citizens, because pep guardiola always has a replacement. However De Bruyne plays a pivotal role on that attacking midfield, because he has the ability to distribute the ball and sometimes make a goal attempt.  Pep hasn't built Manchester city on a single player, so arsenal will still have a tough game on Sunday. The tactical manoeuvre pep guardiola normally uses is to conquer the midfield and force the attack, which normally doesn't work much against arsenal because they too have players saturated at the midfield with solid defensive midfielders as well.
685  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The power of HODLing BTC on: March 27, 2024, 04:10:35 PM
So I just saw this on platform X and it really got my attention because when I reasoned it, it's actually quite crazy but real too and many Bitcoin HODLers today don't really know the power and benefits behind this particular thought of action.

Here is the link from 0.20$ to $70k

HODLing of Bitcoin is probably the most talk and deliberated matter on the crypto space and even here in the community. And it's funny how many people have turned a blind eye to this and some persons are feeling that Bitcoin price today is too big to buy well the thing is that everytime is a good time to buy, that's if you are a long term holder and I for one, am shocked at seeing how Bitcoin has been held for almost 14 years now although I know they are still some folks still HODLing and even planning to keep for longer terms maybe when Bitcoin reaches $200k to $500k before they actually sell off.

I think there's probably a reason why they say patience is virtue and it's something most humans don't have and in the case of Bitcoin journey, it's something that everyone needs to actually achieve that financial boost goal in the HODLing of our Bitcoin.

So I bring this for some folks to actually share atleast boost our spirits in the HODL journey especially those newbie to the space, that if someone out there is still HODLing why not HODL?.

Note:: remember to keep your coins safe too that's base on the preference of a non-custodial wallet or cold wallet if you are HODLing for long term
It's actually amazing to see HODLer that has been patient for these long period of time, patient is actually a virtue and for this investor, I think people need to study and adopt his strategy.

HODLing has been one of the best ways of investing in bitcoin, because it gives you value for your patience and that alone, is what most investors are looking for.  This guy's ability to hold for 14 years will certainly encourage new investors that are future oriented not to buy and sell in a hurry whenever it gets to a new ATH.
686  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: March 27, 2024, 03:00:29 PM
When it comes to Bitcoin investment we have to base on many factors otherwise it will never be possible to make money from Bitcoin investment. Especially when a trader buys bitcoins for investment with his own money he must follow some tips. For example, one should buy when the market is deep and mark the time when one buys so that even if the market goes down, one can buy again later. Moreover, a user must plan long-term investments so that after purchasing from the market, he can hold it for a long time if it goes down. A user must be patient enough and disciplined when buying bitcoins for long term holding. One should never lose patience to hold bitcoins but one should hold with patience but success is possible. DCA must be practiced when buying bitcoins but the losses will be minimal, and when he invests using this method it must be for the long term. When you invest you have to take risks without risk you can never be successful. And if you invest, you must always start with a small amount of money and if you gradually increase the amount of money, at some point the fraction of bitcoins will be very high. As we can see the price of Bitcoin is constantly increasing and when you keep investing as per amount you will get profit as per the fraction of Bitcoin at a time with higher price of Bitcoin. So always buy when the market dips and never lose patience by buying it but holding for long time is best.
Yet many are glad they got into crypto because investing in Bitcoin was a turning point for them financially, one of the best decisions they ever made. Bitcoin investing must have a strategy, if you don't have a strategy and randomly start investing in the Bitcoin market, you will face losses in the future. If you are waiting for the market to go down a lot, invest when the market is going down, you can't really tell when the opportunity will come. If you plan to invest DCA in Bitcoin long term you need to have an additional source of income. If you don't have an additional source of income then at some point you can leave the investment. DCA investing is where you spread your purchases over time rather than making one big investment. It will help you in timing the market and the risk of the market getting high. If you consistently buy bitcoins at different prices you can recoup your investment costs. Buy more when the market goes down and invest less when the market goes up and continue for the long term with patience. Hold your Bitcoin tight and profit from it in the future.
DCAing don't really matter if the market is high or low, so you don't have to wait till the market value goes down before investing. I agree with you about having an additional income or having a major source of income if you want to apply the DCA method, however making one big investment too is another strategy which is mostly the long sum method, which for me I believe is for people that have the purchasing powers to do so, however the whole idea is to best use a strategy that suits your income.
687  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Naira appreciation against dollar not affecting the price of goods. Why? on: March 27, 2024, 12:02:35 PM
For the past two days now the Naira has for what we will say been regaining value against the Dollar at a former rate of $1 to #1,500 to currently at around $1 to #1,234.56 as at the time I was putting this note together.

Now the main point of my writing is this. In the market we have been facing a sharp constant increase in the prices of goods and services with marketers and business owners blaming it on the rate of dollar against the Naira which has in turn led to the rise in prices of the goods and services, the baffling aspect is how this has to also affect locally produce goods like garri, yam, beans, corn, and the list is endless.

Right now the Naira is gaining weight in the parallel market for the past two day or more and yet there has not been any drop in the price of goods and services in the country, instead we are continuously experiencing the price increase of goods and services. On a normal circumstance we are supposed to be feeling the effect of the Naira appreciation but reverse is the case.

So what's the significance of the appreciation of Naira at this moment to the Nigeria economy since we are not feeling that effect on the prices of goods and services up till now? Or it's this just a manipulative sham.

We've had these discussion for quite some time now, and for me I will always say that the prices of goods and services will always have this fluctuating price as long as there is no price regulatory agency or board to checkmate some of the excesses of traders, go to the market today and ask some of the traders why are they selling some goods on a high price considering the dollar rate that is low currently against the Naira, they will tell you oh they bought old stock, and they will continue selling high price in the name of buying old stock even after 3-4 month's.

For the local producers or retailers that are selling yam, garri, beans etc, I for one
Wouldn't blame them, it is what their counterparts that are selling most of the goods imported that are doing this and they are only replicating what others are doing.
688  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: March 26, 2024, 07:50:48 PM
The English League match hasn't started yet, yes I can't wait to see the match again but it looks like the Manchester City vs Arsenal match will always be in the public spotlight because the competition between Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City is getting fiercer and is being talked about a lot by the public because of the small difference in points. Very exciting competition between Arsenal Liverpool and Manchester City.

Yes, it looks like Arsenal Liverpool and Manchester City will be chasing each other in terms of points until the end of the season and it will be difficult for these 3 teams to drop to 4th place because the points difference with Aston Villa is quite large.
I'm believing arsenal to win that match against Manchester city, of course the game will always be at the spotlight because of the current race for the top stop of the league table, I remember something of these nature last season that arsenal played Manchester city and they lost that game, that win against arsenal actually paved the way for Manchester city to take the lead and eventually they won the title, so for this season I don't want history to repeat itself again. The match is going to be a fierce battle between both teams but however I'm hoping come Sunday, that arsenal will go to Etihad and not comeback empty hand.
689  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Why is mental health neglected so much in Nigeria? on: March 26, 2024, 12:26:32 PM
Having a mental crisis, wanting to talk about your feelings or seeking therapy is seen as strange or even frowned upon in Nigeria. This is not supposed to be the case, we should normalize mental health checks and counseling in the country so people who feel lost or are going through something mentally can understand themselves better and not feel so misunderstood. I had a friend who had ADHD but didn’t know and we didn’t know as well - people just thought he was wierd and now he’s nowhere to be found, he went MIA probably because he felt so disassociated. We haven’t heard from him in a while, such a terrible ordeal.
There are so many other mental health issues which you maybe going through and just need someone to talk to, such as: anxiety disorder, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder, eating disorder, psychosis, ptsd, schizophrenia , body dysmorphia etc. but you do not have the opportunity to do so.
My question is, why are they being so neglected in Nigeria and the society is so unwelcoming to such topic?.

We are in a society I personally refer to as the bottom of the pyramid, where we don't understand societal structure, the average Nigerian wants to survive the next day, the first world countries have come to this realisation of people not having sound mind because of what they might be going through, so there are designated areas where people go to meet psychiatrist or therapist to complain what they are going through and appropriate measures will be given to them to help their healing process.

So in answering your question, they are not neglected or unwelcome to the Nigerian society, our orientation and lifestyle as a people haven't come to that realization of accommodating those set of persons in our society.

person way hungry dey catch nai wan get to check another way dey go through post traumatic stress disorder( PTSD). So even when we see our friends with some funny characters we don't understand, we just ignore say Omo leave that man, na only him know watin dey do am.
690  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: March 26, 2024, 11:44:38 AM
I also think that both teams will score goals, and it is obvious that this is one of the most likely possibilities in the betting. Both Bayern Munich and Arsenal have high offensive power. In this matchup, the players who are lucky and on their day will win the match. If it happens on Harry Kane's day, Bayern will even have the advantage of going on a tour while going to England.
This is not about the tour in the next match, on the contrary, this match is a match where Harry Kane can prove that he is still sharp in scoring goals against opponents, hosting Arsenal in the Champions League Quarter-finals means Harry Kane will do it.  not awkward and won't worry about his mentality, especially since Arsenal was his enemy when he was still in the Tottenham uniform, so in my opinion, in the next match, Harry Kane is likely to be able to make Arsenal upset with Harry Kane.  100% fit performance in the next match, because there are several options for Arsenal in this match because Arsenal must really maintain the stamina of their players in maintaining the points they have in the domestic league, therefore in the next match Arsenal will not be too determined to win  in the Champions League Quarterfinals.
We are going to have one of the best game with both competitive teams with quality offensive going to face each other, and we have competition between experience and quality which is going to decide who is going to progress with Arsenal is having good chance after years to spot them into last four and Bayern Munich which is currently having 2nd spot in Bundesliga with only fair chance of trophy is here will give their best for the promotion into last four.

But, with this all we have to wait for the update about few players those are having injuries into last friendly international games which are surely going to have big impact on these games as well because missing of any player is going to be problem for the team but sadly right now we have updated just news few players are having injuries and things are going to be for these giant clubs which are now looking for the progress.

I completely agree with you concerning we having one of the best games with teams that have quality and experience in the next phase of the champions League, a lot of people have keenly been waiting for the champions league to resume action.  This is the champions League and I wouldn't want to write of anybody, but from my own personal analysis of Bayern Munich performance both in the champions league and their domestic league which they are are currently second place,  I don't think they stand a chance to win the champions league this season, tactically they've not been too impressive as others seasons.

Talking about international break and players always returning back to the club side with injuries after international break, if I can remember vividly, I think it either Jose mourinho or Jürgen klopp that was bitterly complaining about not liking international break, because it always leaves his team with players coming back with injuries, most times the key players in the team are usually the victims. The truth is that, nothing can be done about it, because you cannot stop playing from representing their countries especially on international duties, as a coach you can just manage the situation with the few players you might have at hand.
691  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dana thought he lost $80k one night and his advice for gamblers on: March 26, 2024, 11:01:20 AM

Just want to share.

https://youtu.be/k7aQEqDbuf8?t=4429
He was interviewed on Lex Fridman's channel just today. Funny how he thought it was just $80K but it's actually $3M. Rich men lose more when they get drunk playing blackjack.

He advises about winning and losing in gambling and if you get depressed because of it, gambling is not for you. He meant winning and losing are part of the game where great things and bad things happen.

Losing $3m and he thought it was $80k, that's a huge amount of money lost in a single night. You don't gambling while your drunk, alcohol intoxication has a way of exciting an individual and keeping you hyper active to a point you wouldn't mind selling your personal belongings to continue a game, because at that stage you're not with your right state of mind, which ordinarily you would had the natural instincts that will tell you to stop playing. Dana is a rich dude who can bounce back, but I believe he has learnt the bitter lessons of not mixing alcohol and gambling.
692  Other / Off-topic / Re: Becoming productive without spending too much money. on: March 26, 2024, 09:49:13 AM
In life, most of the time success can easily be achieved when you've got some money because it will enable you to make diverse investments that would increase your income generating network but however, it's not every skill that necessarily requires so much money before you can become productive.

It's obvious we are in a digitized era where almost everything is being done on the internet and digitization have made it easier for mankind to perform different operations at ease with one another. It is important for us to understand the need for basic skills acquisition that can upgrade our portfolio without it being that everything is made available on a platter of Gold.

Over the years, we all have seen how social media have stood as an income generating platform for so many people that didn't even know the potentials the possess within themselves just like a lot of people have been making money through content creation, selling of courses online, affiliate marketing and so on.

The Internet have made it easier for anyone who is creative enough to make it online without having to spend too much money learning a particular skill as most time what you need is just a smartphone or computer and data subscription. There are so many channels online that one can engage in other to have a vast knowledge about a skill they want to acquire just like the YouTube channel.

YouTube have made it easier for people to learn and acquire different skills without Spending much money as you can literally just open your app and search for something you wish to know about and just watch the video maybe repeatedly, before you will realize you are already getting familiarized with what you want to know. A lot of people have acquired so many skills that fetches them a whole lot of money just by being at home and learning a lot of things on the Internet.

It is important to note that the most limited resource in life is time, we should make judicious use of our time wisely as most people are just concerned about the contents they get online without wanting to know how this contents are being gotten and possibly get involved in other to become productive as well. If you must have a successful life then you must be creative and also learn how to do things differently from how everyone else does as that is what will stand you out and bring out more value in you. Be more creative and invest in your time wisely!
Your article is informative and  motivational. Right from the time, money and success can only come from rendering essential services to people's needs based on the knowledge or skills you have obtained, This particular method of earning money hasn't changed, what has added so far on it has been the innovative method that has been added to it and human nature is always about bringing new ideas.

Digitalization has brought his own method of earning money, the internet is one place people advertise the products that they sell, advertise Job opening for people that are seeking for employment, the internet is one of the easiest way to spread information on the doorstep of people that can easily access it and a whole lot more. YouTube for example has really helped to build people's knowledge on things we didn't have concrete knowledge about. Another good example is Bitcoin, the internet has helped people to understand the advantages of investing in Bitcoin, which you can actually start accumulating little by little from your earnings.
693  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Global wealth preservation" on: March 25, 2024, 03:57:29 PM
In what ways do the historical narratives and cultural perceptions surrounding gold as a traditional store of value intersect with the emerging narrative and evolving cultural perception of Bitcoin as a digital store of value, and how might these intersections shape the future landscape of global wealth preservation?

Thank you for sharing your insights and perspectives!
Gold has been a precious stone right from time memorial and it keeps increasing in value, Whereas bitcoin is a digital coin that also has value that appreciate with time, I feel the intersection can only come in terms of potential values they both share, but distinctively they stand separately because gold is a physical asset while bitcoin is a digital asset, Hypothetically they are both mined. Well, you can put it this way, since Gold has been an old method of saving value, bitcoin is now the new sheriff in town with a more innovative way to store your assets.

JUST IN: NSA confirms Binance executive’s escape from custody

The Office of the National Security Adviser has confirmed that the detained Binance executive, Nadeem Anjarwalla, escaped from custody. It was reported that he escaped on Friday. It was said that preliminary investigation shows that Mr Anjarwalla fled Nigeria using a smuggled passport. ”

They are looking for a way to arrest him back. I guess federal government can not win this and likely he will make it to United States. Let us see how it goes.

You can read more about it here:
https://punchng.com/detained-binance-executive-escapes-from-custody/
https://punchng.com/nsa-confirms-binance-executives-escape-from-custody/

Or United States will arrest him so that he can be sent back to Nigeria?  Grin
This story is hard to believe, how exactly did he escape out of the country when all his belongings where collected from him, before putting him into custody. Who gave him the the passport, how did the he flee the scene without any security personnel taking notice of his movement, for me it's all arrangy. That man cannot walk five blocks away from that environment without the security personnel knowing. I think these are just a make believe story that was cooked up by the Nuhu ribadu's office, just so that the public wouldn't know of the arrangements they've had behind the scene. I'm waiting for the second story that will be brought up for the second detainee that hasn't escaped yet.
695  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: March 25, 2024, 01:55:48 PM
Even though they cannot appear with a full squad, there is no reason for them not to try as hard as they can to win the match. I can't say that they will fail to defend their title this season, but I also can't say that they will succeed in defending their title, because after all, both opportunities are still very open to them. There are still 2 clubs that are competing very closely with them and it is not yet certain whether they will succeed or fail in this very tight competition.

In fact, Manchester City also has an even squad depth, although it won't be like their main players, but at least they don't have any significant differences. Now it's just a matter of how the coach prepares it all, and he must be able to ensure that the players he trusts to play can give the best performance they have. Before the competition ends, there are still opportunities during that time. This applies not only to Manchester City, but also to Liverpool and Arsenal. Especially when the distance between them is very close, it is possible to change only a difference of 1 point.
Guardiola has very good depth, benches, but this also applies to Arsenal and Liverpool, so the conditions are equal for everyone. The most important thing is that all the main players are in the game, injuries can affect it, and players from the bench cannot always fully replace them.

Liverpool could top the table again in the next round if Arsenal lose points. I don’t believe that City will lose at home, so I think that Arsenal will not be able to retain the lead for very long. They are lucky that there is a short break in the championship now, and they can enjoy being at the top.
Pep guardiola's bench is one major advantage he utilises, because he has a second eleven team that can do the job, but Same cannot be applied to Liverpool and arsenal, Liverpool have relatively good bench but not as outstanding as Manchester city's own, same goes for arsenal.  Liverpool can as well lose their next game too, that situation will help arsenal widen their lead a little. As it stands now with the three of them, arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester city, anything can happen. However if Manchester city are allowed to clinch the top spot, then the both teams should be ready to kiss the title goodbye, because pep guardiola hardly drop points when he is at the top spot, he has proven that for the last two and half years in the EPL.
696  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: cruel level of addiction, causing harms and still keeping it up on: March 25, 2024, 09:21:51 AM
Gambling addiction are of different levels I guess Sad

And this one that I just witnessed is likely the most cruel one.

I have seen gamblers who are addicted to gambling fighting for their lives to stop or reduce their gambling activities but they can't, obviously they are addicted to gambling and struggling with it.

But for the first time I happened to see someone who is a gambler and he was harmed because of gambling severally, fully in financial distress but instead of him to calm down and try to avoid what's harming him so badly, even after losing everything, he is still so desperate to continue.

The way I am looking at him, he is behaving unstable, as if he is now mentally derailed, he can communicate but gambling is the next thing he want to do, this have cost him is home, business and family.

Where I am confused is that why won't he stopped already? Those that are addicted to gambling that i knew get to this same level of losing everything and they make a U-turn in the end, what is keeping him imprisoned ? His mind? or he is already crazy? Or even a spiritual attack?
With the level of addiction you've described OP, I think that person needs to be taken to a rehab, it's obvious he has lost his mind, gambling can be one of the addictions he is going through, but i believe there are other things too he can be addicted to that your not aware of. Gambling can be addictive no doubt, but not to the extent of costing him his business, home and family, that's far too much.
At that stage, he cannot stay on his own and stop gambling, he obviously needs help from friends and well washers, because in his state of mind, he hasn't done anything wrong with his gambling lifestyle.
697  Economy / Economics / Re: Does a place called Africa really Exist in the world Economy on: March 24, 2024, 09:03:54 PM
The world second largest and second most populated continent after Asia, is a blessed continent filled with natural and minerals  resources with divers Culture and tribe with sub Saharan Africa being black

But as blessed as this continent is it is the most poorest and underdeveloped continent in the world, from slave trade to colonisation and now to neo colonisation Africa has been at the center of it

What is really wrong with Africa that virtually everything an African is doing there is always an element of foreign culture in it, in fact from the God we call, to the names given to African children at birthday everything about Africa is foreign

Infact our economies are so bad that we depends on European for help, this lead me to the question, does Africa really exist, infact the only thing still keeping Africa is the black skin that her population is known for
I have come to the realization that the highest level of colonisation is mental colonisation because Africa is like a computer program that is running

Guys what is your comment on this
OP, first I want to believe your an African. I would like to take you back to history and as well make you understand that Africans where colonized by majorly Europeans, so if you see african children bearing European names is basically because of the traces of colonization that we've had from our colonial Masters. The colonial master came with religion and their way of life, which to a large extent some of us have copied some of their lifestyle. But in times of underdevelopment and poverty that has been ravaging Africa over the years, it is basically because of miss governance and leadership failure that we've had over the years in most African countries.

OP, ask yourself one question, that all the money some African countries have been generating internally and the one's that have been coming from overseas, what have the leaders been doing with the money? I believe your guest is as good as mine.

A friend, (doesn't stay close to me) called me up on the phone this morning, I was surprised to see his call since it's been a while we Last spoke to each other, and talking to him again on the phone was the last thing on my mind, and Answered the call and we greeted as usual.
He went on to ask me for financial assistance, that he is totally broke and have asked all his friends who are close by, and non of them agreed they have enough so as to lend him some money, he went on to tell me that I am his last hope, that he wouldn't have bothered me if he had anyone else to call or turn to.

I asked him what happened? What the sudden need for financial assistance? He tried lying (I noticed from his turn) but later, he opened tell me that he had some funds on him which could possibly have sustained him until this month ending to get his salary, but he didn't know what came over him, he went to a casino last night and in the process of trying out one and two games, he gambled and lost every single penny on him, and now, he has nothing to fall back on for the few days remaining before he gets his salary for the month of March.

Long story short, I wasn't going to help him, most especially for the fact his a single guy, but out of pity, I later lended him $20.

But then, this got me wondering why a full grown person will gamble until he or she has no money left in his or her bank account, and no cash at hand, I personally have on several occasions gambled away every single cash I had at hand, but I always had some money in the bank to fall back on, together with my family.

I am just wondering if anyone here have ever been in a similar situation before? That is, gambling until you are completely broke with nothing to fall back on?
No money in the bank, no cash in the hand, what did you do?

Or maybe gambled until you are one bet away from going broke (if you lose), do you go ahead and risk the money, or cancel the bet and  keep that money for something more important?
I applaud your generosity,  who told you he is not going to gamble with the $20 you gave him. That guy is obviously addicted and what he needs more is advise from you. gambling is high Risk, he can actually gamble with the last money he has, and luckily win. However you shouldn't be gambling up a point where you don't have money to take care of you upkeep, that's an error. Professional gamblers know when to stop, and that's what's makes you a healthy gambler. If you're gambling and consistently you've been losing, it's best to give yourself a break, the idea of using your last cash to gamble is too risky.

Farming is an agricultural practices that involves the cultivation of crop's and plants for the consumption of man either in commercial or subsistence ways

Unfortunately farming is now seen as a thing of the poor that no one wants to go into, even the government is not doing enough to support farming activities
Food is a very important aspect of society that any society that wants to make progress is a society that has eaten very well , infact the economic super powers are society's that have attained food security
Farming activities helps a nation economy grow as scarcity of food will lead to inflation of prices of food in the market
Government should do everything to make sure that people go back to the farm and create the right environment for farming activities

They can do that by granting interest free loans, Education of farmers and giving out fertilizer to farmers
Farming is an important aspect of every economy
Let discuss guys what do you think about farming to economy
Farming for me has never been seen as a thing for the poor OP, farming  is obviously a veritable business that people invest a good amount of money in buying farming equipment from tractors, cultivating machines and the rest of it involves a lot of manpower, and all these involves good money. How many poor people can afford to buy those machines, not talk of paying the people that will be working on the farm.  However, I know that a lot of farmers do get some grants from either international organisation or local bodies to help propagate the production of farm products in most countries because agriculture is always given a high priority.

Nigeria is a sweet place to live but because of the government it has turn to be the toughest place to settle on the planet.  If the country was in a good shape many who are travelling out.  Nigeria has everything that can make a country to be great. Nigeria has good natural resources,  Nigerians are very hardworking that whatever they do they do it very well , the problem of Nigeria is just bad government.  If their are good leaders in the country Nigeria will put among top countries.

Nigeria remains one of the most peaceful country in the world but the struggle to feed and live there can not just be comparable with anything. Presently, inflation is just on it high level and this has made the masses to find it difficult to live and survive here.
The peace your said to be enjoying in Nigeria cannot be all encompassing, because there are lots of terrorists attacks on Nigerians in every part, people are kidnapped for ransom almost on a daily basis Unabated, we have so many ungoverned spaces, to a point the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT has proposed a need for state police to help caution the effect of insecurity within the state level. So peace can be relative as it's not all incompassing comparing to other European countries that barely have such attacks from terrorists. The other day, I heard over 100 school girls where kidnapped, where else in the world do you hear such news regularly.
