I am really curious here. Are you really Joseph Van Name of the University of South Florida? If the name has been picked up on by members with ulterior motives that could mean damaging the name of someone without him even knowing. Your posts suggests you are him but for the sake of clarity, could you confirm?

The entire cryptocurrency community has failed to understand that Bitcoin has a mining algorithm that was never designed to advance science and that that is a bad thing.
This means that the entire cryptocurrency community cannot be trusted with anything because they reject science and reasoning. I have had enough of this madness.

-Joseph Van Name Ph.D.

I tried going to google and writing "Joseph Van Name Ph.D" and I found this. If he is not Joseph Van Name Ph.D, then that is defamation, and that is a very bad act. He should be able to verify himself and there is nothing wrong with his statement because not everyone has to agree with bitcoin
683  Economy / Reputation / Re: superman184 account is either bought or hacked, need help sniffing possible alts on: October 03, 2023, 02:32:58 AM

A few questions: Are there any indications that this account is committing fraud or causing harm to other people so it deserves a negative tag?
A few questions = 1? I think you might need to rethink your wording from time to time. For the actual answer to the question, you might try reading the other responses as there are less than 20 to read through.

hahaha... thank you, I was going to ask some questions but I didn't write them because might not be relevant. It seems I missed some of the discussion above.

However, it could be that the account owner doesn't dare to come here, that's a sign that he admits his mistake. Actually, I'm not interested in defending him either

The entire cryptocurrency community has failed to understand that Bitcoin has a mining algorithm that was never designed to advance science and that that is a bad thing.

From the past until now the way to eat and drink is the same, the only difference is using a spoon, chopsticks or fork. And no one has ever complained that their way of eating hasn't kept up with developments in technology and AI

This means that the entire cryptocurrency community cannot be trusted with anything because they reject science and reasoning. I have had enough of this madness.

-Joseph Van Name Ph.D.

Then just leave the bitcoin community, it seems like bitcoin will not be affected by anything about it.
685  Economy / Reputation / Re: superman184 account is either bought or hacked, need help sniffing possible alts on: October 03, 2023, 01:55:23 AM
With that being said, I'm not trying to single out good accounts and bad accounts per say. I'm saying that a bought account from 5 years ago who wasn't someone important in the community, probably has no intention of scamming anyone. They bought the account to make money from sig campaigns or to announce a project. If they bought the account with loads of positive trust, they likely have scam intentions, and the community should be warned they aren't dealing with the original owner. If they gain reputation after the account was purchased and become a staple in the community, then that's fine. It's all about when the account was purchased to me.

I think you say that from your common sense, while I do it from a legal point of view, because whoever commits a crime does not change the typology of the crime. This of applying a penalty depending on the status of the person or the perception of whether he is going to scam or not, has a difficult defense based on laws and legal regulations.

If you use a legal perspective, are there any regulations that prohibit buying and selling accounts here? As far as I know, buying and selling accounts is allowed on this forum. So legally in this forum, this account has not violated anything, but if we talk about forum ethics then it might have violated ethics because most of the members here don't like buying and selling accounts.

A few questions: Are there any indications that this account is committing fraud or causing harm to other people so it deserves a negative tag?
686  Other / Meta / Re: Here is why Bitcointalk is a reliable source! on: October 03, 2023, 01:38:12 AM
~snip~

You say that bitcointalk is a trusted forum for anything, I disagree. However, if you say that bitcointalk is a trusted forum for bitcoin and cryptocurrency, I agree.

In my opinion, all sites or forums have their own advantages and disadvantages. This also applies to the bitcointalk forum, that discussions about economics and politics here are only supplementary boards and most of those discussing there are not experts. The discussion is often just a brief analysis without clear references. Or worse, many of the answers are repetitive. There are many sites out there that discuss economics and politics comprehensively and are written by experts

But when it comes to bitcoin, this forum is definitely the best
687  Other / Meta / Re: Community Vote: Add "Cybersecurity & Privacy" board to Bitcointalk. on: October 03, 2023, 12:52:02 AM
Your vote: No
Have you read the OP of Discussion: "Cybersecurity and Privacy" board + Poll before posting?: Yes
What is your opinion on adding the board to BitcoinTalk?:
I see that if there is a board about cyberscurity then there will be discussions about hacking and it will likely analyze hacking so that people will know how to hack and how dangerous it is. I don't know about cyberscurity but if there is a chance that I will know how to hack or phish, at least maybe I will know what to learn to hack

688  Economy / Reputation / Re: superman184 account is either bought or hacked, need help sniffing possible alts on: October 01, 2023, 10:07:17 AM
Ah... that's from my country. But I've never seen him make a post on our local boards. Indeed, many members from Indonesia prefer to post on english boards, but sometimes they will post on local boards.

Maybe if he were here we could test his Indonesian language skills. I can tell whether he uses Indonesian translation or is a native Indonesian speaker
689  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Quality over Quantity on: October 01, 2023, 09:43:43 AM
Quality and quantity are both important, because "quantity makes quality".
I don't agree with you on this and I don't think quantity actually makes for quality as I've seen very short post that contained Alot of quality and even earned Alot of merits as a show of appreciation for it's quality.

From a campaign perspective, quantity is important, you must create 25 posts every week to be considered qualified

From a merit perspective, quality is important

The two must work together, it's useless if you only make quality posts once a week.
690  Economy / Gambling / Re: Sherbet.com - $1,000 Welcome Package - #1 Social Casino - $15,000 Weekly Race 🤑 on: October 01, 2023, 07:14:28 AM

Yes, actually casino promotion requires a large budget because it is not easy to promote a casino, especially as competition is getting tougher. On this forum, there are lots of casinos that carry out promotions, and we don't  know whether these promotions are effective or not. The casino business may seem profitable, but the expenditure on promotional costs is also not small
691  Economy / Economics / Re: What would you do in this situation? Invest or save? on: October 01, 2023, 07:05:38 AM
If you have plans to start a dream business that requires a capital of  $20,000 and you were able to make a savings of $15,000 which obviously isn't enough to start up the business, what would be your decision or advice?

In reality, in every business there must be a plan and a realization. A business plan that requires $20k in capital should be able to start with $10K. In every business there must be a priority scale, which are primary needs and which are secondary needs.

Yes, I know this is just wishful thinking, but in practice, if this business can't be started with $10k in capital, chances are your business plan isn't mature enough. So no need to hesitate, $15k is enough to start your business
692  Economy / Economics / Re: Is academic pursues enough to get incomes? on: September 30, 2023, 06:05:48 PM
Getting a degree won't guarantee that you will have better income, it depends on many other things too, like what field of study of your degree, where do you live and you also net networking. However, finishing your study and getting degree will open new opportunity, I mean like some high paying job require certain degree, so by having those degree you will have the chance to apply to those job, but then to be accepted, there will be many other factors, like skills, experience, presenting yourself, .etc.

it's true, it really depends on your experience and skills if the company hires you. Getting a degree is really helpful because it's true that you have a greater chance of getting a job than those who didn't graduate, but that doesn't mean you'll immediately have a bigger income just because of it.
There are many who have not completed their studies but their incomes are still large. Just work hard and be patient and never give up

Currently there are many graduates so competition is getting tougher. I think academic degrees are no longer that important, especially in the digital world, anyone who has skills and experience will have the opportunity to get a good job. However, if we don't have an academic degree, our chances of getting a good job will be smaller.

If we want to compete then we need to improve our skills and abilities. The world of work is getting crueler and competition is getting tougher

Have Any Chance To Withdraw My Bitcointalk Account Red/Negative Trust..?

I apologize to everyone.
I will not make this mistake again and Will never use a chat bot again.
I am so sorry!
I apologize to everyone!

So,
Have Any Chance To Withdraw My Red/Negative Trust..?

I think you need to prove your sincerity if you want to make things better. I saw one member who had a negative tag but was accepted into the signature campaign because even though he had a negative tag, he was still actively discussing for a long time on this forum even though no one paid him. If you can do that, maybe you have a second chance. But I'm not sure you can do it.

I'm also a little surprised why @nutildah still gives you a neutral tag, because he is an expert in looking for farm accounts. There are lots of great people here, so if you intend to cheat then you have to be smarter than them, if you can't then it's better to be an ordinary member, no need to be greedy by creating lots of accounts because that will end badly.

Think positively mate, and prove that you can improve this situation. It will definitely be good for you in the future  Cheesy

~snip~  Donald John Trump

Some say he's an Idiot but something he says sometimes makes sense. LOL. What do you think about it? Is it some way to manipulate people or that's the right thing to do?

Who are you calling an idiot? What is Trump? He is the former president of America and he is also one of the richest people in America, can you believe an idiot can become like that? It seems like you are too influenced by issues in the media that many have hidden interests

I think those are great motivational words and anyone would agree with them. So there is nothing to discuss here except the word idiot you use to demean someone

Wow... this is an amazing post. It seems like you read a lot here and know which boards have a lot of spam post (perhaps I prefer to call it bullshit). You also have good thoughts and contribute to the forum with your deep thoughts, so your ideas will create more spam and make this forum like a gambling site. But it doesn't matter, everyone is welcome to share their thoughts and ideas. Who knows, someone might agree with you. But unfortunately I don't  Tongue
696  Other / Meta / Re: Would it be possible if there was some kind of like button? on: September 29, 2023, 01:08:04 PM
Sorry mate, I've been quite busy with my work these past few days. But it seems that this discussion is enough. Hopefully this will be a consideration for admin in the future, if it's not useful then let's forget it together. Thanks for all your opinions and dedicated thoughts
697  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Tomorrow you wake up, You got 50000$ in your hand. What will you do? on: September 29, 2023, 01:02:31 PM
Straight to a stripe club. Since we don't have them here, I will go to a whorehouse, spend it all on pussy.🤣

Hahaha.. LOL. It seems like you are the type of person who is too honest. Come on mate, at least don't say something so vulgar, even though in my head I sometimes think like that   Grin
698  Other / Meta / Re: Would it be possible if there was some kind of like button? on: September 26, 2023, 04:23:19 AM
Okay a like button does not cover that you like the thread and are finished with it for now.
A merit button does move cover that you like the thread and you are finished with it for now.

A button that read  ( "I am done talking will check back on this thread in a day or two." )

works much better.

The initials would be

I.a.d.t.w.c.b.o.t.t.i.a.d.o.t

We have some artists that could make it look nice.

Yes, I agree. But with the tag, I know that the person I'm talking to has read it. If he doesn't reply it means he really wants that, if he comes back after a few days (but I'm not sure many do this) it's better than no further discussion

Yes, maybe your idea is good... but few people use that method, and there are too many words " I.a.d.t.w.c.b.o.t.t.i.a.d.o.t" would probably make it look like spam

~snip~

It seems like the discussion in the thread didn't go well because the OP didn't reply to other members' comments

I don't want to discuss that. But that's one example that some discussions require feedback or at least I know that the person I'm talking to has read my argument
699  Other / Meta / Re: Would it be possible if there was some kind of like button? on: September 26, 2023, 03:53:03 AM
It sounds to me like this is not the first time I've seen a discussion about this on the forum. As has been said, merits are sometimes used as likes even though they shouldn't be, and the fact that they are limited I think makes them more valuable. I think it is unlikely that the forum will be encouraged to implement a like button because of what has been said and because it makes us different from so many social networks that do have it.

Can you show me a thread that discusses something like this? Actually not a button, maybe something like a merit that is sent but has no effect on rank, maybe something like "karma"

~snip~
Like this discussion, someone seems to be accusing me of having certain intentions, but he doesn't want to clear up the discussion. He just disappeared.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5457879.msg62874604#msg62874604

Well op, it doesn't seem to be a bad idea. But first, not all members would love to use such buttons or neither would they have time to inform you that they are about leaving your discussion. I might no longer want to comment or reply a thread and just exist or ignore that thread.

Yes, because most discussions are carried out not because of interests and hobbies of discussion but because of campaigns so they don't feel important about replies from other people

And I will advice you to lock your thread if possible to avoid unessesary replies from other members because you might also not like them.

Suggestions are rejected unless you have a strong argument as to why I should lock this thread

~snip~

Sorry I don't understand what you are saying. I'm not a native English speaker
700  Other / Meta / Re: Would it be possible if there was some kind of like button? on: September 26, 2023, 02:15:41 AM
Ok I know, surely you will comment that, this is not fb or twitter so there is no need for a like button. Yes yes yes... I know that, so please don't comment like that. Ok?

Is it possible that there is a tag (some kind of like button or some kind of merit but not limited) to tell the discussion partner that I have read the reply and am not interested in continuing the discussion. Is that possible?
It is Merit button that is similar to a Like button with many forum members.

Merit system is designed to merit quality posts but it is not used like how it was designed. You can use it as a Like button and liking a post can be because you see it is a good, quality post or just like it (how it is funny, but I don't actually support this liking, meriting way).

My past discussion on it Sendable merit, how to use it? Send it when agree/ disagree with posts?

In general I agree with the concept of merit, but merit has a limited number so it cannot be used as a tag that I have read my discussion partner's reply. If there is another one that is similar to merit but has no effect on rank and the number is unlimited, maybe that would be good to signal that I have read the reply and don't want to continue the discussion
