683  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion || Current Topic: AFCON 2023 on: February 07, 2024, 12:03:14 PM
This Nigeria vs south Africa is really going to be a very fascinating encounter between them both, but as a typical Nigerian that I am, though the Nigerian team is well able to do but I am a bit worried when I heard this morning that 8 players from the south Africa starting eleven are players from the memelodi sundown first team, so I was just imagining the team work and the understanding that would already be in this south Africa side, and how difficult it will be for the Nigerian team today, but Nigerian is really a force on their own, I just believe that the experience and quality in the side is going to see them through.

Secondly, the fitness of our star player osimhen is really a confidence burster for our Nigerian national team, because his work rate upfront can never be match by any of our player,  while taking all the sticks and bruises for others to shine.
684  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Selling a property to play gamble on: February 07, 2024, 11:39:30 AM
That's just one of the least disgusting thing an addictive gambler can actually do. In my neighborhood, I have seen it countless times how most of the young guy will come to the local betting shop an drop their phone as collateral, and start gambling, so when they have reach their limit after so many losses, they would come back like few weeks time to retrieve their phone, while some wouldn't even come back for it again.

Selling properties to gamble is even the least to me, comparing to most addictive gamblers that even go as far as kidnapping their own relative just to have money, so that they can keep up to the life gambling style, because they always feels like they can't do without it.
685  Economy / Economics / Re: Idea and money are very important to investment. on: February 07, 2024, 11:08:59 AM
In other to be successful in any business you find yourself, knowledge and Money are two key factors that needs to be present but that not all, discipline and patience is also required, let's take Bitcoin investment as example now,  you might have the money, patience and ideas on how to go about it through the DCA strategy, but if you don't have the right knowledge to know that you need another source of income and an emergency fund to keep you going, so that you don't have to touch your holdings when having financial challenges. So to me ideas, money, patience and right knowledge are required to be successful in what ever investment you find yourself doing.
686  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rich or poor gambler, who should risk more? on: February 07, 2024, 10:36:52 AM
To me it doesn't matter if the person is rich or poor, what that is really important is the risk tolerance of that person, so no matter how rich a man is, if he gambles on what he can't afford to lose, in due time, he will be reduced down to nothing, while the poor will become more wretched than the way he already is, so there is no where it's written that the rich or poor one of them must gambles more than the other,  it's all boils down to the individual involved.
687  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: February 07, 2024, 09:34:46 AM
I don't really think that buying a fix amount of Bitcoin when talking about DCA is proper because to my own understanding, if you really want to buy through the DCA method, then you have to buy with a fix amount of money, weekly or monthly irrespective of the current price of Bitcoin, but if you want to buy a fix amount of Bitcoin, them you might  spend more or less depending on the current price of Bitcoin, but the major challenge with this strategy is that you will be forced to tamper with you emergency fund that would have been for your upkeep till month ending when you are expecting money from another source.

I just believe that the DCA method is design for us to buy in a comfortable manner, not in away that will make us to start doing opportunity cost just to meet up to the target of buying a fix amount of Bitcoin.
688  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: February 06, 2024, 06:44:31 PM
As a new investor I don't think it requires much knowledge.
(Though the saying goes that knowledge is king)
But once you go to the market, you can learn all kinds of things by yourself.
Actually, am not ok with the statement because going into investment without having adequate knowledge  is like starting a journey without a direction and can also be liking to  someone that intend to start a business without   business ideas. As a new investor I think  having adequate and the right  knowledge  before you invest is a wise approach.
Waiting to go to the market and learn everything yourself is like a woman that is trying to go to the market to buy different items  without making list of things to buy in order of their importance and check  if her  money  is enough to buy everything in the list which may lead to mistake and not being organized. An investor that has the adequate knowledge before investing will be more organized and confidence compared to someone without adequate knowledge.
Investing in bitcoin does not mean you must have adequate knowledge before you start accumulating it. Once you have the basic knowledge about bitcoin and also understand that bitcoin is not a get-rich-soon scheme, you are good to start your bitcoin journey because bitcoin doesn't require much knowledge to hold it for the long term. Before you start your bitcoin accumulation journey, make sure you have a source of income that will enable you to keep an emergency fund that you will use to settle your financial needs, so that you will not depend on bitcoin investments to settle them.
I think that this has already been over emphasize, in the sense that, you need basic knowledge to know how to accumulate Bitcoin through the DCA method and a deeper knowledge to know all it entails on how to hold firmly like having an emergency fund and another source of income,  because the way we have over flog this, even a ten year old child will get a clearer picture of what we are saying.
But the sad reality is that most of the newbie's that should here in this particular discussion thread so as to know how to navigate their way in Bitcoin investment are just wasting away in off topic discussion.
689  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Investment in gambling on: February 06, 2024, 05:51:55 PM
Their is no comparison between them both, why would you compare investment to gambling? Gambling is what we do for fun and it's a game we try our luck using money as bait, that if you are right, you win something, and if you are wrong, you lose the money you use to stake, but investment is a long term project that always comes with a reward and dividend if invested rightly.

Secondly, comparing ponzi scheme to investment is really a stupid thing to say publicly, because you already know how Ponzi scheme operate, you know that what you are investing in is ponzi, and you still go ahead to put your money, to me that is really a stupid act that you should avoid by all cost.
690  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: February 06, 2024, 05:59:02 AM
Lest assume this senerio that, Mr A uses DCA uses DCA to accumulate bitcoin as his only strategy and he has an income of 2500$ and decides to allocate 10% to buying bitcoin weekly, so he buys at the first week at a price of 45,000$ and second week at 50,000, third week at 55,000$ and finally at 50,00$, he ends up buying at an average price of 50,000$ and accumulates a total of 0.05 bitcoin for his first month for an uptrend market.

Let say the same allocation with an down trend market of 49,000$, 45,000$, 40,000$ and 39,000$ price at each buying interval, he ends up accumulating a total 0.0578 bitcoin at an average price of 43,250.
i doubt that buying using DCA method is an automated system that auto buys the Bitcoin on a fixed week, month or year regardless of the rise in the price of bitcoin. Even if I'm using the DCA method to buying my bitcoin and after the first purchase I notice an increase and then another increase that Is way higher that the first price I bought my first Bitcoin, from a personal point of view, I would rather sell my holdings at the peak of the price rather than buying at that price. Their are range of price that if you buy at such price, you are very certain to have a loss or to hold your bitcoin for a very long time if you want to gain anything you of your investment. So using the DCA method doesn't mean that you should close your eyes to the reality that their are certain price that bitcoin will climb to that you should be considering more of selling your holdings rather than buying or accumulating more bitcoin regardless of whether that was the time you set out for the purchase of your bitcoin.

I don't really fancy this your selling of your Bitcoin idea at the peak, because if you are truly a long term investor, you will definitely know that $50000 or $55,000 is way below the actual potential of Bitcoin, and secondly, as an investors that have decided to buy Bitcoin through the DCA method, you won't be actually bothered by the current price or market sentiment because you are only thinking long term, so what is important now to me is to accumulate more Bitcoin as much as possible, and what should be your primary concern is what would be a barrier to you not holding firmly even in the face of challenges, that's why you need to think out of the box by putting down measure that would make you hold firmly, like having an emergency fund and another source of income, but this your selling off your Bitcoin at the peak is a complete no to me, because I only think long term as a Bitcoin holder
691  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your view on this? Is it fun or addiction? on: February 06, 2024, 04:05:24 AM
Just take a look at the statement again, it's shows that they literally don't care about you, wether you are addicted or not, because that write up alone shows that they are ready to push you to addiction as long as it fills their pockets.

To tell you the truth, no body in his or her right sense with take a loan for gambling purpose, because it's only addictive people that do that, so when someone cannot do without gambling on the weekends, that is addiction, because addiction makes you feel as if you can't do without it.
692  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: This was my highest risk. on: February 06, 2024, 03:20:52 AM
It's very much understandable why your friend sold the bet, because at that point, he can't imagine not getting something out of it since 19 selection have already entered, so it's a big win of him irrespective of the final outcome of the bet, but I must recommend your guts that you tried to take such a risk, but I don't and wouldn't advice such to anyone, because gambling is all about gambling with what you can afford to lose, so that it wouldn't get to you if  it falls.
So do you even consider what would be your faith if it fails? Though you won but the risk is just too much, because that is a money you can't afford to lose.

694  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How would normal Nigerian survive naira inflation on: February 06, 2024, 02:47:59 AM
For a while now, I just dey see this news about naira inflation and me I come dey reason how other other Nigerians wey no dey into crypto go use take survive this inflation, how are they going to store their value without having to bother about too much knowledge.

I know bitcoin would be the first option but many Nigerians don't know about bitcoin and even if they change to dollars its still suffering inflation too, wat do you think would be the fastest means that a common Nigerian man can store his monetary value.
See my brother, make nothing surprise you for naija, we are built with steel naturally, and secondly i no too understand wether you dy ask how Nigerian dy take survive or wetin dem need to do to take survive this inflation, if na wetin dem need to do, to take survive this inflation, I don talk am before, and I dy very clear on that.

As a typical Nigerian wey sopos work smartly, try as much as you can to dy earn in dollars, any business wey you need to do wey go make you earn in dollars bro do am, because if 100dollar dy pay ur bill before, today e go still pay ur bill, because before 100dollar na 75k but now 100dollar na 150k, so try to earn and save in dollar to lighten ur burden.

As a new investor I don't think it requires much knowledge.
(Though the saying goes that knowledge is king)
But once you go to the market, you can learn all kinds of things by yourself.

as someone that is new to the system, the first thing you should know is that you need to Buy the DIP.
I disagree to what you said that you don't need much knowledge before you invest, how can you know the DIP  when you don't have the required knowledge? see you have to know that havng knowledge and having the right knowledge are two different thing, because buying might be easy but holding can be very difficult if you don't have the right knowledge on all that is required of you, so that you can weather the storm and hold without touching it even when you are seriously in need, In all we do in this life, knowledge is very important, because if you have the right knowledge, you will definitely know that you need another source of income and an emergency fund that would sustain you, not to touch your Bitcoin holdings.
696  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Management on: February 05, 2024, 03:05:29 PM
In life, it's only a fool that will be doing the same thing over and over again and be expecting different results, why am I saying this? It's very good that you changed your strategy which gives you a different and better result, but don't forget to gamble responsible.
And secondly to you, why would you gambles with all the money you won ? are you trying to give them the money you won back? Because you were luck enough to got a winning, so staking all that you won is really unwise, but it's good thing that you have learned.
697  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Making too many picks reduces chances of winning. on: February 05, 2024, 11:15:42 AM
You are actually right on that, too many picks reduces our chances of winning, because In a situation whereby you make ten or fifteen select, and you are expect to get it all right for you to win, and the owner of the bet is just looking for one inside to fail, for him to be the winner, what makes you think you will succeed more than him? So if you really want to be winning more, them you have to be picking fewer games like 3 or 4
698  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Another health benefit of online gambling on: February 05, 2024, 11:05:31 AM
Yes, it very true that gambling offline most times can be stressful and even sometimes dangerous too your health if the environment is not that conducive, but you need to understand that what ever that have advantage will also have disadvantage, because to me gambling online is the fastest way for your bank account to get liquidated. Just imagine when you are already in a losing position and you are trying to recover your fund while gambling online, in such scenario, you will only be stop when all your funds are gone, so it's not advisable to gambles online if you can't gambles what you can afford to lose.
699  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: February 05, 2024, 10:51:58 AM

There is an expression that it likely pretty close to being true, and that is that the best time to enter bitcoin was yesterday, and the second best time to enter bitcoin is today.
i kind of like the mentality that the statement "the best time to enter bitcoin was yesterday and the second best time to enter bitcoin is today" brings to every bitcoin holder that procrastinate ever buying Bitcoin or the person that is asking on the right time to buy the DIP. The best time to buy is never tomorrow regardless of the speculation on how low the price of bitcoin might drop in the future, if you can't buy it now, their is no certainty that you will be able to buy it tomorrow.

People don't actually know that one of the enemy to every investment is procrastination, someone that doesn't want to invest or is afraid of doing so will always looking for an excuse of why he hasn't done so, but they don't actually know that we are still in the early days of Bitcoin, so now is the best time to buy irrespective of the current price, all those people that have been investing into Bitcoin since from the days of 18000 to 20000usd are now in serious profit because they were confident about Bitcoin, and they never procrastinated, so I will suggest, that if anyone want to actually be intentional, then he should start acting now.
700  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Tips to Avoid Scams on Cryptocurrency p2p Exchanges on: February 05, 2024, 07:57:26 AM
Brother thanks for this piece of information, expecially to our newbies, because 2 weeks ago I also had an encounter with one of this scammers on binance p2p, because I usually bought 30k naira amount of usdt, which I do regularly monthly since i save in dollar.

After I made payment, this guy refuses to release the asset to me, after I have even send him the confirmation receipt from my opay account, what I did was to appeal to the binance customer support and my receipt as evidence that the guy have refused to release the asset, they gave him an hour grace to reply to my complain why he doesn't want to release or his account is going to be blocked and the asset released to me, when the 1hour is almost exhausted, that was when he finally released the asset, why am I say this? When doing a trade on p2p as a newbie, it's very important to that someone experience is present, so as to show him how to go about it, and the measures that should be taken if the next person is a potential scammer.
Please Scammers are getting more sophisticated everyday, we should all thread with caution.
