681  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: March 25, 2014, 11:20:27 PM
I doubt Havelock would have stopped trading solely upon Garrett's request. Is there any evidence of this? Maybe Havelock could comment?

We have paused trading for the moment until we complete an internal investigation of the COG Fund.

We will keep everyone posted in a timely and public matter.

Thank you,

Havelock Investments

some of the largest holders are already working on this. Garr needs to be gone since we cant leave on our own.

Goat, shouldn't we be doing this using the appropriate forum of shareholder meetings, motions, and agreements?

You've made clear your feelings towards Garr, now let's find the means to secure COG's future by using the appropriate processes and procedures necessary to form an agreeable corporate structure going forward.

Now with regard to that, we should establish a corporate structure which would basically be an board to which operations would report. In COG's case, we are somewhat limited by the options available, but I do believe we could form a three or four person board representing: Operations, Large Shareholders, Small Shareholders, and Chairperson. Operations will be held responsible to the board, who may raise a motion to remove anyone they may feel isn't completing their duties. The board will be responsible for scheduling shareholder meetings, agendas, and ensuring that reports are published in a timely manner. The board might also be a good interface for the exchanges in dealing with COG.

Operations will consist of:
Finance
Mining Support
Shareholder support and PR
Hardware acquisition.

Given the size of the operation, it will be acceptable for one person to hold more than one role starting out. This should give us enough flexibility to secure the smooth running of the operation as well as ensuring that shareholders interests are looked after and maintained.

This is just a constructive suggestion to try and share my knowledge on the matter, any other suggestions would be welcome.

This is along the lines of what I am thinking. There is no reason necessarily to exclude Garrett from the operation but it is clear that some experienced operators need to step in for certain oversight and finance roles. Best case scenario is agreements that avoid court action as a very last resort yet make a large majority of shareholders relatively whole. It's clear there are holders here who have skills that could be put to cognitive mining's best use.  There is no reason not to use talent that is available provided they are able to prove trustworthiness or are able to escrow some coin as Tafelpoot mentioned.

Garrett would you be willing to be responsible for the mining part, while leaving the management part to someone else?
You were still not able to give a detailed and provable overview of the expenses and income of the last 6 months and a lot of bitcoins seem to be missing in the fund.
Some external person could produce new 1cog adresses for you to put the miners to and take care of issuing the dividends.
While it doesn't protect cognitive from you pointing the miners to personal addresses, it does safeguard the reinvestment fund from you using it for personal loans (FIMB) and other projects (HF bailout).
I'd be willing to do this and even put some of my own btc with a reputable escrow to show that I wouldn't just run away with the funds.

Is the Cointerra still mining at 1.6TH? After about 20 days, mine is only mining at 1.2 and after the upgrade to the latest firmware (7.6), it decreased to below 1.2.  Many in the forum complain about the same problem.

We were running at ~1.6TH/s up until I updated the firmware.  After the firmware upgrade (which from what I can tell lowers the temp limit to 76 degrees from 83 degrees) our machine is throttling like crazy, even in cool ambient temperatures.  The result was a decrease in hashrate down to <1TH/s.  I've just finished downgrading to the prior firmware.  It would be an understatement to say that CoinTerra didn't live up to expectations.  I'm very glad we only have one of these rigs to deal with.

some confirmation of the difficulty in running the CT hardware.

I'm a long time holder of cognitive and a fairly large one at that. I say give him the 6 days.

I don't know if it is incompetence or graft but it looks like Garr is intentionally running this company into the ground with false promises. We don't need staff, we need new management. How can this be accomplished? Any ideas?

Garr will you hand management over to someone of the shareholder's choice voluntarily and become a shareholder yourself?

2. Pending withdrawal of your Bitcoins; time lock?

How about allowing us to specify a withdrawal address that is then locked; coins can only be sent to this address. It can be unlocked, but upon doing so an email is sent notifying me that it's been unlocked and it takes a further 7 days or so before a new address can be entered?

Yep, this would be a great feature.

Does not stop a hacker selling your shares for dirt cheap to himself.

...or transferring them to another account for free.

I'd guess his mail account got compromised. It's simply the biggest hole you can get through. I guess it's futile to discuss what is 'probable' because why would someone do something improbable - because it is improbable. Circular logic, we'll have to wait and see...
Is 2FA disabled when you request a new password? I don't think so.

But in case of Google Mail you could have control over the 2FA authenticating entity...

Compromised gmail account seems like the simplest and most likely scenario.

Got some physicals a few weeks ago and I'm very happy with them. Great job!

Hello Shareholders,

Currently, I'm on my way to Austin to speak with Cointerra regarding our order. As the contract Ravi (CT CEO) agreed to states, if they are 30 days late (after January 31) in delivering our hardware, we will receive and additional 30% of the total hashpower we ordered. I believe they will be delivering in February, and will be able to confirm either way this evening. Hopefully I will be able to pick up a few test units while in Austin in order to start generating some sizable coins for Cognitive.

A few people have inquired on managing the bookkeeping and PR for Cognitive, and I am in the process of sorting through these emails and PMs to choose whomever is most worthy.

Cheers,
Garrett

This may get lost in here so please feel free to PM me.

I am in a situation I would like a trusted member with ASICMINER shares to help me out with. I need to buy 5 shares at the market rate.. not sure what that is or if I have enough for it, but here is the story behind the NEED.

Essentially I was running a pass through on 5 shares of ASICMINER for the DVC devcoin community here https://cryptostocks.com/securities/39

The person I was running the pass through held the 5 shares and did the payouts... now they have gone all quiet and left the share holders all in the dark and no dividends or anything.

I am looking to source 5 ASICMINER shares direct so that I can take over the listing and reimburse the investors from my own pocket.

Would you be interested in selling me 5 shares?? How much do they go for these days??

Feel free to PM me if you would rather keep this not public but I wanted to show openness in my attempts to resolve the pass through I was a part of helping run

Fuzzybear

Alternatively, you could buy them here:  https://www.havelockinvestments.com/fund.php?symbol=AM1  and have them transferred to direct shares.

Quit feeding the troll, people.  A religious zealot is someone who believes for poor reasons.  A religious zealot will use whatever facts he can to support his presuppositions, and when the facts fail, resort to ad hominem attacks.

Sometimes zealots are right, and sometimes they are wrong.  Even a broken clock is right twice a day.  This troll was right that not everything was perfect with Garr, and mistakes were made, but he's been proven wrong that the intent was malicious.  There is no reason to believe it was in garr's best interest to pay 32BTC just to "further the scam".  FIMB was not a scam, it was just a failure.  COG is not a scam, and when the hardware arrives, it has the potential to be very successful.  But despite this new evidence, some people aren't looking at the evidence, and some people will never be convinced.  Those people should be ignored.

Nobody should forget what happened in the past, but they should consider all the evidence.  Garr is obviously making an effort here and we should continue to encourage him to improve, hire the help he needs, etc.

(Disclosure:  I own about 1.7% of COG by shares)

+1

Thanks for your insights and contributions to Cognitive.
693  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: February 04, 2014, 02:00:24 PM
I confirm having received the first half of FIMB re-payment (BTC38.56) from Garrett today. Hallelujah!

Fucking hell what a release !

We're on the good way.

Yes, this is very good news. I'll put the cognitive link back in my sig.

Kakobrekla is not helpful at all here and should be ignored, but this is a serious issue that needs to addressed sooner rather than later.

If retards like you would listen to me, you would never get into this mess with this scammer in the first place.
Even then, I gave fair warnings to get out, 3 months ago.

Do not worry, I enjoy looking at fools being parted from their money.

That is a sick way to get enjoyment. You aren't being helpful at all because you have no substance in any of your claims, just predictions of doom and a personal vendetta.  It makes you look like a sad little person with nothing better to do than hurl feces at others from the sidelines.
694  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: February 03, 2014, 09:54:09 PM
Have you thought about the fact that attacking cognitive is killing your COG/COG.F2 investment ?
It is obvious that Garrett cannot pay back FIMB. Your only chance to get back your investment (or a part of it) is to let Garrett make Cognitive profitable again.
Also attacking Cognitive is damaging all the investors. It is selfish to do that.

I am not attacking Cognitive, where did you get this weird idea from? Kakobrekla does that.

I come here and ask for my money and that's very legitimate thing to do. After a long absence, Garrett finally said on 01/31 he'd pay up half of his debt on that same day, and failed yet another time. Why someone that can't pay up would make such a statement? Is this business or child's play?

I am sorry if you don't like what you read, I'm afraid you're the selfish here or worse, you're delusional for believing Garrett can keep acting this way on his 'personal' loan and yet be a successful manager of Cognitive. Feel free to ignore me. I'll continue posting until I am paid in fully.

Let's put the blame where it belongs. Garrett is twisting in the wind and making promises he can't keep. This is a very bad sign and my personal experience with this kind off thing tells me that it cannot be further ignored. Garrett could have said that payback was dependent on receiving the hardware, but he didn't... he said he would pay half and then didn't follow up. alincoln can't be blamed for bringing this to our attention and is really doing us a favor. Kakobrekla is not helpful at all here and should be ignored, but this is a serious issue that needs to addressed sooner rather than later.
695  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: February 03, 2014, 03:54:13 PM
Garrett I really wonder if you realize your absolute lack of commitment to agreed terms and your general unavailability to answering valid shareholder concerns are doing a permanent damage to your reputation and to your company.

I don't care FIMB problems but all this drama is indeed damaging Garrett reputation and cognitive.

Dammit, what's the problem with FIMB ? Why does Garrett have to pay from his pocket for what you lost ? Why does cognitive have to suffer from this ?

It is very damaging indeed. The only blame so far is on Garrett and Cognitive mining must suffer if the CEO can't even be bothered to make good on the terms he negotiated upon default for a personal loan. Cognitive mining suffers only directly because of the loss of confidence in management, not out of debt repayment obligation. As far as I understand it, FIMB loan is on Garrett himself, but I have removed the Cognitive link in my signature because I will not promote a company that is led by someone who will not make good on his contracts regardless of how invested I am in the company.

Thanks for the update FC.

This is terrific news. AM is on track to deliver, within just a couple of months, chips that are significantly more efficient than another other ASICs shipping or announced. I don't think that point can be overstated. Bottom fishing on this one is done -- they are about to dominate the ASIC chip market.

Not only that but they are only on 40nm density which means there is still lots of room for increased efficiency in later chips. I like it!
697  Economy / Securities / Re: [NastyFans.org] NASTY MINING | NASTY POOL on: January 27, 2014, 09:27:20 PM
I moved the funds that were sitting on our exchange to NASTY MINING's BTC holding address.  We'll have to keep a reserve in that account to pay for the remainder of our scrypt miner order (£3,815) when it comes due in a few months.  I also submitted v1.1 of the NastyFans iOS app to the App Store and paid off 20 BTC of our outstanding debt over the weekend.

Thanks for the update!
698  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 24, 2014, 06:11:39 PM
Don't you have any gambling spirit in you? You must have or you wouldn't be here.

Not everyone here is primarily a speculator. Some of us are primarily Bitcoiners. It may be the Speculation sub-forum, but it is in the Bitcoin forums.

I, for one avoid gambling and have done so for almost half a century after seeing the drummer in one of my first bands lose his drum kit to the race track through compulsive gambling.

The Murphy of gambling can be nasty though. Whenever I'm forced into gambling, I seem to win. I've never bought a lottery ticket but the one I found in the back seat of a taxicab was a winner. The only race I was coerced into betting on (to not jinx my friend's horse) tripled my place bet when it lost by a nose in a photo finish, taking all my friends' win money with it.

I'm not here to speculate, per se. I'm here for the entertainment of monitoring my Bitcoin investment, and the state of Bitcoin adoption and valuation. My interest is in the evolution of open-source, decentralized, peer-to-peer networking, not in finding a vehicle for speculation. I'm more interested in Ethereum than Litecoin or Dogecoin and envision O/S P2P networks handling everything from notarization to making elections honest again.

All you speculators have fun gambling. Just count me out.

+1  Well said.  The price movements to me are just fun one way or the other, I don't try to bet on them or predict, just work with bitcoin and explore the seemingly endless possibilities of value for the whole planet.

It's great to see nastyfans make decisions for the long term health of nastymining over immediate short term gains.

Hello all,

The sCrypt motion has passed by a large majority, and the hardware will be online and fully operational, along with the 28TH from CoinTerra, by the end of the month.

Best Regards,
Garrett

P.S. I have mailed all FIMB holders and they will be repaid promptly after confirming their bitcoin addresses. If you are a FIMB holder and did not receive the email, please PM me.

Good news. Any updates on the conference or discussion of a new hire?  Has anyone looked into or suggested using p2pPool for cognitive? It should be a good way to implement transparency as far as I understand (not that transparency is particularly hard with BTC anyway).
