It might... it's all up in the air right now...LMAO.. My idea was "LetsGetSXC.com"

I'd just thought I might update everybody where we are at. I know it's boring, but the base code for SXC is really messy. If SXC is to be taken seriously it needs good compilable code up on github, and and clients for at least linux and win32 available for download. Thats why I've been trying to compile "clean" code on windows. I have gotten as far as compiling the latest litecoin on linux for linux, and absolutely nowhere compiling anything on windows. Fortunately, Nomaxpi, unlike me, has experience compiling and has generously decided to help during his vacation to achieve this objective. You'll all be relieved to know he is starting from scratch and isn't relying on anything I've done. The only contribution I've made is a few links to save him a little time googling. As for a website, Kelsey has registered "Sexcoin.xxx" and, I am given to understand, is quite ok with it being used. A lot of people in this topic wanted it, so he went out and did it. Lynos has volunteered space for the website to be hosted. As for me, I'm taking a couple of days to clean my house which has been completely ignored over the last week, and attend to a few other matters before jumping in again. I have set up an apache/php/mysql server with a blockchain explorer on one of my rigs, and other than a pure html website with a few bits of javascript, have no experience with publishing or adminstering websites. I don't want to be seen seen as a "Dev" for SXC, as I have pointed before my progress is slow, I am literally learning as I go. I took the attitude that it is worth doing, it needed to be done, and as nobody seemed to be doing it, I might as well take a shot at it. I don't think I need to sell anybody on why this coin is worth developing, and as far as I'm concerned it's "open season"... As the original Dev seems to have abandoned the coin, anybody can work on furthering it's success. While it is no problem with anybody who feels like it setting up a website etc, a communal effort would probably yeild the best results. If anybody has suggestions or observations I hope they share them ..

I had the block count issue so I just went into my sexcoin.conf and deleted all the nodes that had a different port than 9560 (i.e 9333) and restarted my wallet... end of block count issue...

I have been trying to compile a "clean" version of the SXC coin client. On windows I've managed a compile that looks like there are no errors, but the client only runs for a few seconds and exits... probably put over forty hours into getting that far...
I installed a virtual PC running ubuntu 12.0.4 and then compiled and ran litecoin without a problem.. not counting the ubuntu installation, took about a hour tops... Next step is to compile a windows binary of litecoin on ubuntu using mingw... That seems to be the way most devs do it.. I'm hoping to eventually have gitian builder set up on a box so I can compile whatever binary I please..
If we want this coin developed, we are going to have to do it together, as a community. We have one person who has got a domain name registered, Lyno with some skills and server space, LavaJumper has some skills and might be interested in helping out, and I'm fiddling with the client, and while I'm progressing very slowly, I am progressing.
All we have to do is communicate and organise our efforts, and be patient... After all if we succeed we will never mine so many coins so easily....

9561 is the default port.. The big danger I suppose is somebody bruteforcing a username and password to connect to the daemon and then messing with your wallet.. If you set a good username , rpcpassword and dont use a wildcard for rpcallowip and encrypt your wallet, I doubt you'll have much trouble..

Still messing around.. Managed to compile the daemon, I'm trying to compile the GUI, but I get an error. Probably a problem with the way I configured qmake. If it's not then I might not be able to keep going.I know it's a PITA using windows to compile, but I'm not gonna install ubuntu on a rig for this unless I get desparate.
If I manage to compile the source, I'll have a go at taking the latest version of litecoin, making the changes nessecary for it to used on the present SXC network, compile it, test it, bundle everything with an installer and post the source on github so it can be developed further.
That's a lot of if's but I think the first thing we need is a nice clean client to work from. Thats the foundation.Just wondering if anybody else is interested in developing this coin.

We don't need DEV to move on ... it't up to to the miners to keep the coin alive Satoshi not here but bitcoin still working
Damn Good point... I'm going to keep trying to support this coin..

Yeah, well ATM I'm mucking around with QTcreator.. I've finally got dbus for windows working, but the big problem is... <----- This is not a joke, it's a statement of fact.. If I can get a decent client to compile on windows I might be able to port the present client over to something worthwhile, and publish the source code and a how to compile on windows tutorial.. (I wouldn't expect anybody to trust a binary)..But I didn't want to say anything because I don't have the skills... Most likely I'm wasting time on a rainy day.... It seems the reason most of us are still mining is yes.. This could be huge.. just because it targets the right niche.. But without skilled people developing it, it's going nowhere.. UPDATE: Managed to get OpenSSL working without using perl, installing boost, if the other dependencies go this smooth might actually achieve something.... UPDATE Had problems with Berkley DB, but used MSYS to access QT's mingw shell..seems to be compiling NP... P.S. Tell me If I'm boring you.. I'll stop updating UPDATE Openssl Errors..Downloading Perl..

Before it goes to an exchange it needs a decent client, a website, and at least one pool (not P2P) so there can be a decent hashrate.. the only reason this hasn't suffered a 51% attack is it's not worth attacking..

Some of us are so loyal/desperate that we're mining to the last node LAMO
"Remember tha Alanode"... I think the days of creating a coin, it going to cryptsy a few days later and the "Dev" dumping the premine are over.. Though it is unfair to expect any coin to succeed on the merits of one person.. It needs a community to add all the little services it requires to gain value. Still I don't understand how a DDOS attack can screw up a website.. Block access yes, corrupt files no .. I could be wrong, I'm not experienced in these things but....

Nada.. I'll keep the daemon running and if I get a connection, I'll start mining again.. Thanks Lavajumper, good to know it's still ticking...

lost my last working node, despite adding every node listed... I don't think it's gonna make it.. network was 3m/h.. I blame the Dev..dying of neglect..

Haha.. Just got ABE Block explorer working on "localhost".. so far I've learn't how to set up an apache server with PHP an Mysql, and get it communicate with the daemon to get the mining stats, and run ABE with python (those dependencies were a bitch).. I'm gonna keep a rig on til I'm the last one standing, so I can muck about with it.. Though I poked it with a pointy stick and it moved [networkhashps] => 8105923

"networkhashps" : 4386605,
This one looks like its in ICU to me, and the Doctor appears to be playing golf.
Too bad, the concept had a lot of very strong points.
Although, its been a good learning experience for me. First time I've been able to watch for(birth;death;) of a coin closeup.
And I just figured out the ADDRESS_VERSION ..

I think it's better to hop coins for the long-term investment. Ya never know. Do you think LTC miners ever imagined them being $4.5 a pop when they were mining in the early days?? ;-)
Yeap, I'm mining LTC on a PPS pool as a default (in case of pool problems, etc) but at the moment I've split my hash power 25% LKY, 50% BBQ, & 25% SXC. I've been playing with the daemon, so I moved my SXC mining on to a dedicated rig where I can start playing with php if the fancy takes me. If SXC ever reaches 0.00001 BTC on an exchange, I've done extremely well I might move a rig onto DGC if the difficulty decreases, depending on how many coins I have of other sorts and if there is a really profitable coin, I might mine and dump.. You just have to stay flexible When profitability goes down and miners hop off, I'm happy cos I'm getting more coins to hoard. "Ya never know"...too true. Also: It looks like 2GMTA is back up. http://sxc.p2pool.nl/chain/SexcoinI would suggest using theirs. As I said, mine is on a server that's a bit flaky. I am keeping mine up for testing though. If I do some messing around with php, I have been inspired in part by your work.. Though I'm no code monkey.. more of a cut and paste and follow the directions and tinker till it works or I get bored with it.. but I've been doing that since I first bought an Amstrad 64

is the dev on vacation
Starting to wonder if he just gave up on this Last week our server was DDOSed so Sexcoin offical site was delayed a bit. Sexcoin Block Explorer: I've cobbled together an Abe test block explorer on a crap server, because I think we could use one. 2GMTA stopped serving theirs up. http://litecoin.lavajumper.com:9950No promises about how long I can keep it up, but I'll run it here as long as I can, or until I can find a good host. Until then, enjoy! You might want to update the orginal post with LavaJumper's "Temporary Block Explorer"..
