681  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Looking to insure my glbse investments where should I post my request? on: September 10, 2012, 07:32:32 PM
I have some investments on GLBSE and would like to insure them.
Where should I post my request?

Send a PM to user Usagi, he runs the company CPA which offers insurance on bitcoin related things. Let us know if he will give you a policy.

I did so, just some day before the pirate default and got no answer.
By now I think CPA will be facing some difficulties connected to they being insurance of some pirate investment, so I'm not sure it worth bothering them with the question.
And I'd like to make a public post, to understand who might be interested and on which conditions.

Given even insured asset to date has failed when faced with a financial stress what makes you think any insurance will be worth more than the paper it is written on?

TommyBoy "analysis" of guarantees seems very applicable for Bitcoin guaranteed or insured investments.

I'm afraid they don't have EUR trading and withdrawal, but you can withdraw USDs to paypal and there are a bunch of other USD withdrawal options (mostly Russian market oriented).

I confirm. They are very good exchanger. I like very much the fluidity of use, the quickness of their code, the client orientation of their program. I feel very comfortable there, compared to Intersango they are much much better (think only of all the slowness of Intersango code and how difficult it is to obtain a decent assistance there - i've spoke about it in another post).
I think the code of btc-e is even better than mtgox's which is still very good for me. Another great feature of btc-e is that they are also btc/lts exchange and havebthe relatively low fee, but the fluidity of business on mtgox is higher and it seems to me that the other exchangers are following or trying to anticipate mtgox. In any case btc-e is a great exchanger

Now it's clear, thank you.

"in every case the BTC have appeared in my wallet within seconds after making the request."

How is it possible? BTC transfer from one BTC address to another usually takes me several minutes and sometimes hours. Am I missing something?

Thank you very much for your explanation, I didn't know the term, but I was aware of the technique.

That's funny, I was thinking the same thing and came to this forum to see if anyone was discussing it. (Made this account 1.5 years ago, first mined in 2009 for a bit on a CPU but have preferred to lurk thus far.) I wonder how many other people are thinking this. The common wisdom is that BTC will drop but there is the contrarian in me saying otherwise...

Many things are already factored in... is shorting allowed on mtgox? I have never actually used it. Not that I would do that but I am wondering how it could effect the market. There could be a "short squeeze" as in the stock market but I don't know how sophisticated the trading platform is.

Would you please explain how the shorting works for those, like me, who are not aware of it?

Nope, no reason. You should sell.

Why is it than that even if there are 9.753M BTCs we are seeing only 254.008 in sell on MTGOx?

What if the big pirate bank investors, once they'll receive their BTC (if any), will not follow the panic sell trend of the small investors waiting, instead, the price of BTC to get higher, and than sell their bitcoins in the small amounts, which would make more sense, from their point of view?

And another think: we are seeing 50.000 - 100.000 BTC traded each day on MTGOX, if the price will fall down even the large 500.000 amount pirate40 is speaking about might be absorbed quickly by traders who believe in BTCs.

What do you think?
697  Economy / Trading Discussion / Is there any reason why BTC might suddenly go up in the near future? on: August 21, 2012, 08:42:25 PM
Everybody speaks about imminent collapse in the price of BTCs, so I'm asking myself whether there might be any reason for BTCs to go up.
