681  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A teen is given $1K to invest into Bitcoin - what would you recommend for them? on: March 16, 2016, 02:02:10 AM
I wouldn't advice that person to invest his $1000 worth of Bitcoin. It might sound very boring to some people, but simply holding your coins in cold storage for a few years is the best advice I can give.

This would be my hope as well.  I would hope a young person would hold since they could for 20+ years if they want.  They could be millionaires in their 30s or 40s depending on how young they are when they get btc. Short term gains are not needed for the youth.
682  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: All new nodes are virtual server ... attack in progress to switch to 2Mb on: March 16, 2016, 02:00:02 AM
What does this mean for those of us less technical on btc. thanks!
683  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: $12.90 on: March 15, 2016, 10:55:28 PM
kind of makes me think about all that reddit spam i was getting regarding eth.. wish i had read it now.. kinda Smiley

I thought about that spam too!  Does anyone have a copy?  It would be a good read right now.
684  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH GETTING DUMPED HARD!!!! on: March 15, 2016, 07:33:11 PM
This last dip was merely a correction.  The price is on an upward trend in general and there will be may dips, therefore many will panic. I have been there...panicking. Grin
685  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price of the bitcoin will jump again? The price today is acting weird on: March 15, 2016, 07:22:47 PM
When is the price of bitcoin not acting weird?  Grin  Seems like this is the only thing you can know for sure about bitcoin = it behaves weirdly.  Definitely quiet right now though, people probably paying taxes in US.
686  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin ranks by ownership on: March 15, 2016, 07:19:50 PM
Great rank list.  Love the Fiat Worshipper.  These are pretty spot on, thanks for the humor.
687  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bank experience makes me love Bitcoin more on: March 15, 2016, 06:17:10 PM
Exactly! Completely ridiculous that it would take 48 hours.  There are so many things wrong with banks these days:
-unsanitary monopoly money paper..gross!
-overdraft fees preying on low income
-lines at the bank
-checks, why do they still give these to people? especially the ones in front of me at the grocery store!
-fund clearing times...give me a break, they just collect interest while they tell you it is pending
-2 days for a debit purchase to clear...haha.
-ATM fees...don't get me started (and we are worried about pennies of transaction fees with bitcoin??)

Please make this stop. thanks for the ability to rant!
688  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Microsoft apologizes: We still accept bitcoin on: March 15, 2016, 04:12:01 AM
According to their statement, was just a mistake but clearly it's a lie. What happened was, them turning their heads away and then, the minute everyone found out, they made a U-turn and decided to continue since they probably thought, there's small demand which clearly isn't the case after all. That sort of mistake, doesn't just happen like that, but that's what they want us to believe. Btw, it's still open for US citizens, so not sure why their not expanding it to other countries as well.

My thoughts exactly.  I feel like a "mistake" like that just does not happen on a microsoft website.  That would be an huge error simple to avoid for the web content manager.  I didn't think it was a big deal when I first heard about it but now it is interesting.
689  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Microsoft apologizes: We still accept bitcoin on: March 15, 2016, 01:16:53 AM
Very cool that Microsoft acknowledges this.  The price of btc did not seem to be affected by it anyway. Everyone can relax now.
690  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoin on the Ebay on: March 15, 2016, 01:01:47 AM

This thread is up there for legendary status.  The responses are choice and I am dying laughing but this one takes the cake.  "operation Paperclip 2.0".  This needs a t-shirt.
691  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Microsoft stops accepting Bitcoin in Windows Store on: March 14, 2016, 09:59:17 PM
Some quick update guys.
Microsoft will continue accepting Bitcoin it seems!

Quote
“We continue to support Bitcoin for adding money to your Microsoft Account which can be used for purchasing content in the Windows and Xbox stores,” a Microsoft spokesperson told VentureBeat. “We apologize for inaccurate information that was inadvertently posted to a Microsoft site, which is currently being corrected.”

Well that is interesting.  I wonder how that happened. Hopefully people did not freak out too much and what it would mean for bitcoin.
692  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best trading places on: March 14, 2016, 05:44:38 PM
I have used Kraken with out too many issues, also btc-e awhile ago but I think they do not allow US customers anymore.  I am going to checkout yobit because I have heard it is ok.  I try not to keep coins on any exchange for too long though, no matter how good they are.
693  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum being added to Bitfinex on Monday on: March 14, 2016, 05:37:47 PM
Long time ago, I traded darkcoin in bitfinex, and they took it off. Let's see how much vol ether will trade there. This is a real test.

Was not Dash at or very close to its all time high when it was added to Bitfinex?

Edit: Take a look at the 3 day chart for Dash on Bitfinex to see what I mean. https://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/bitfinex/drkbtc

I think so yes, as was another one and I cannot remember.  It may have no impact but this is going to be interesting to watch.
694  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Microsoft stops accepting Bitcoin in Windows Store on: March 14, 2016, 05:01:49 PM
I do hope this is just a case of being a switch over from BitPay to managing their own server since they are more than capable, although it likely is just a removal due to lack of use.

I think this is most likely the reason, the connection with BitPay.  I don't think this is terrible news and Microsoft can change their stance in the future. Nothing to see here.
695  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People mocking of me for using Bitcoin on: March 13, 2016, 08:46:33 PM
Don't mind what other people think.  This is why it best not to discuss finances of any kinds with friends or family, it is like politics and religion.  People don't understand bitcoin yet - they will.
696  Economy / Economics / Re: When do you buy Bitcoin ? on: March 13, 2016, 07:53:35 PM
I buy whenever it works out with the budget.  Try to buy small amounts at a time so the price really does not affect it, it is more about the amount of btc rather than what price i purchased. I learned this awhile ago, it is a more relaxing approach to a very volatile coin.
697  Economy / Exchanges / Re: CRYPTSY MAKES DEAL WITH HACKERS TO RETURN STOLEN 13,000 BTC, PAYS 13% FEE on: March 13, 2016, 07:38:45 PM
Sounds like this is cryptsy basically letting everyone know that it definitely wasnt hackers that took down the site but was in fact cryptsy themselves . No hackers going to agree to returning btc when theres no need to.

This. Seems odd they would bother returning it creating another trail.  If they do get the 13000 btc and altcoins back that were lost maybe people will see some coins returned to them, so that is good news.
698  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Central banks beat Bitcoin at own game with rival supercurrency on: March 13, 2016, 07:35:51 PM
lol.  Bitcoin is a "niche for aficionados"...ok sure.  Well let's see where this "supercurrency" goes.
699  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-03-12] BTC-E Withdrawals broken, trading suspended on: March 13, 2016, 07:30:32 PM
Perhaps there is a russian connection and they got busted under the new law?

I see it is back up but this brings up a good question in regards to Russia's new stance on btc.  Wonder how long they will last.  I have used them in the past and had no troubles.
700  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Ethereum surpass Bitcoin in market cap in the next 3 years? on: March 13, 2016, 03:48:20 PM
i am not sure about anything involving ETH anymore Smiley

it has been getting hyped over and over again. every crypto related online place you look, you can see ETH being hyped. so i guess it is possible

i am sure of one thing though, there are big whales behind ETH who are pumping it to get the maximum amount of money out of it. i just hope i can pull out before getting burnt.

Exactly how I feel, I am not sure of anything about it but very interesting to watch.  It has major momentum and there may be some announcements this week about it.  I had some around the high $2 range and sold.  yikes.
