Who is viru? That isn't a bitcointalk member.

Many people are creating new accounts to post in this thread. I'm not sure of what's happening. The only one that can confirm if those are real is someone with access to the old website's logs. Most likely this btc-arbs guy that appeared here.

Ok well, thanks for the correction. Smiley

gaw miners are power hungry

i love the new chips

is there a better deal than 4k for 30mhs with the a2 chips

Well, it depends on how much you're willing to spend. Also would you trust a preorder?

But in general, Mh/s tend to get cheaper as you order in bulk.

The network consists of nodes. If such a change was decided to be implemented, it would require agreement of more than the 51% of those nodes so the network can fork and implement this change as a valid one.

My technical knowledge on bitcoin is not an expert's one since I'm not familiar with programming. But I'm sure that you can see where this is going. In simple words: if a "central authority" decides to to something like that they wouldn't be able to without the networks permission.

The network consists of everyone running a bitcoin node, you and me could be running a node by having a wallet with the full blockchain in it...
6805  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Silk Road 2.0 has paid back 82% while Mt. Gox has paid none ! on: June 03, 2014, 10:13:13 PM
You should keep note that it's a different case. I'm pretty sure people didn't use silkroad as a wallet service to store their coins. Dark web sites are not known for their stability, it would be unwise to hold large amounts of coins in there. If the "stolen" coins were fewer than the ones in MtGox it sounds perfectly logical to me that they were able to refound part of the losses.
6806  Economy / Gambling / Re: PLAYTIN - Casino Exchange Wallet Trading on: June 03, 2014, 09:48:46 PM
I tried to trade some LTC in the site yesterday. And I was surprised by how fast it was. The coins were instantly credited in my account after the confirmations and the trade was executed in a fraction of a second. Truly a perfect example of great coding. The withdrawals are near instant too.  Smiley

But there's one little flaw I noticed. After each trade is executed, a satoshi worth or the coin traded is stuck in the exchange and remains in your balance. Is this meant to be like this? It's nothing big but it's kind of annoying to see those little balances be there right after you've sold.
6807  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: And now a bank realizes bitcoin's potential finally!(citibank) on: June 03, 2014, 08:28:01 PM
Bitcoin was created with the idea that it will be a currency and payment network that will not rely on trust. Therefore no banks are needed. You could say that it's even hostile towards them since it operates fully independent from them so it's not only a competitor, but also an ideology that keeps spreading. Making people think that in the future they might not need banks.

But if you ask me, the fact that a big bank like citi can see the positives of bitcoin is a positive thing.

We. Are. Here.

We're bullish.

Does this imply something because of your username? Oh funny you.  Roll Eyes

Sounds good enough?
6810  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: btc-arbs.com - Update: Withdrawal problems - DO NOT DEPOSITS - dying HYIP on: June 03, 2014, 07:21:39 PM
I have been following this thread off and on since btc-arb went south. Just checked in (after the weekend) to see if anything new was up. Low and behold there was. I sent btc-arb an email and PM just now...and added my name to the list on the spreadsheet. Hope this works out. Would like to get my BTC back!

That's what everyone that had coins in there would like. Thankfully I didn't have any. Someone posted here under the name "btc-arbs" and he seems to be refounding some people. We created this spreadsheet to keep track of the refounds, but until now this person seems to only have refounded the deposited amounts of small investors. And this makes me sceptical. All you can do is wait with the hope that he's not lying and will indeed refound you as promised. I'm really sceptical about this whole situation but still, you've got all my wishes for good luck with this.

http://zeusminer.com/ started shipping some weeks earlier than today. Some bitcointalk members have received their miners already.

In my opinion, 4chan playied a quite important role in the rise of doge. Those guys did a serious job to create hype and get it to be known around the internet. I believe that it's also thanks to them that this didn't remain just a joke. And it paid of! The price skyrocketed weeks after and many the "/b/tards" had bought in when it still was 10 satoshi.

There you guys go. It would be easier to maintain that there. I see couple of names were added after I created it, go ahead and add them by your own If you like. The document is public and everyone can edit it.

Hey all, I am solo mining and just found a block 3 hours ago but it is not getting confirmed.  Is something up?

Do I need to check anything on my end?  In the past they did not take this long to get confirmed and credited.

New to this coin and solo mining.

Thanks!

What you're hashrate? I though it was very hard by now to mine solo....

Maybe he means POS? The hashrate is indeed too high (at least for me) to mine solo. There are not many coins out there to be mined solo these days.

The_Catman and shakezula haven't been online since April.  Undecided

Should we consider a community take over? Maybe if we organise this well enough we could get a couple of new exchanges to accept Doubloons too.
6817  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Alt coin to invest in 2014 on: June 02, 2014, 09:10:48 PM
I'm going to say this once... get your DRK while you can... Before Christmas 1.00 DRK may be worth multiple BTC...  Smiley

Your optimism goes through the roof... Besides the recent uptrend, darckcoin got where it is today after a handfull of individuals pumped it's price with thousands of btc. I don't think it has to go any higher. You'd be a fool to invest now that someone pumped the price again.

yes i know im waiting for my rank to pump up to member

so im still intrested where to join in future

plus i like the weekly payouts on updown Smiley

I see... Well Stunna said he will eventually update the rates to something higher to compete with UpDown. But I think that he's currently traveling right now(?). UpDown hasn't updated his participant list for almost a week now, making it unclear if he will keep accepting participants.

6820  Economy / Economics / Re: Would people pour their cash into bitcoin given a stock market crash? on: June 02, 2014, 02:58:22 PM
One can profit from bitcoin trading. Many believe that bitcoin trading is the future of trading because of the big potential profit it has thanks to the big price shifts. This bares some certain risk as well though. But when it comes to storing value, I don't thik that bitcoin would be the most reasonable way to do it. Through the ages, gold was used as a store of value. It's been proven that it can be used as a store of value for milleniums. However, in today's world bitcoin has a bigger potential to be used as an actual currency.

So it really depends on someone's needs.
