I think they might be very much interested in the hashing power of the network.
Imagine if they could use the hashing power to help them with the "stuff they do"...  Grin

Anyone wanna volunteer to run BlockChainExchange.com ?

And by that you mean? Code everything? What?
I wouldn't mind, but my bitcoin/namecoin knowledge is null.
Ways i could help:
Domain acquisition - probably not a problem Smiley
Hosting - could spare 1 VPS for it
SEO & Social Marketing
HTML/CSS and a little bit of php

As for the rest, i can't help.

is there a pre-compiled version for windows?

If you read the thread before asking you would know it was already posted here :
Here is a Windows binary that works as far as I can tell.  I make no guarantees!  http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2882613/Namecoin/namecoin-win32-4-24-2011.zip

The source is included there and I'll upload my source to github here: https://github.com/dmp1ce/namecoin  I made very minor changes just to get things compiling.

To run it I ran namecoind.exe in a cmd.exe terminal and then opened another cmd.exe terminal to run namecoind.exe commands like getinfo.  No GUI yet.

Happy rabbit egg day!

6808  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is Satoshi Nakamoto? on: April 24, 2011, 05:13:07 PM

Man, i see people here are confused about one little detail.

Anonymousspeech LLC is a company that specializes in anonymization.

That's their business, register stuff on their name when the owners want to remain anonymous. Just that.

Probably not even them know who Satoshi Nakamoto is  Roll Eyes

You guys should move the pics to the thread about bitcoin memes...
There's some pretty good stuff here that really fits there  Grin

I followed that link but had to close it immediately, I am annoyed when websites presume to intrude upon my ears uninvited.

Thanks a lot for this info! I was thinking about opening a gadget store accepting BTC only. Guess it's time to start development. Smiley

I liked it. It's down now?

Was it down? Haven't noticed myself.

Thanks!

What is it exactly that makes it difficult for you to read the site main page?

For me, the light-grey text is too light.

OK, i darkened it for you guys with bad eyes  Grin

I really don't.
I think it's a problem when the rss feed is more readable than the sites main page.

I like what you're doing with the news aggregation though. Thumbs up for that!

Well, you can always get the rss only Cheesy But you won't have the videos embedded there Embarrassed
Do you have any suggestion on how the readability can be improved?

Slick interface, bit edgy too. I like it.

Bookmarked.
Cool! I'll keep checking it.  Grin

Thanks!

6815  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Presenting CoinBits.com - Bitcoin related news aggregator on: April 23, 2011, 04:18:30 AM
Hi,

I started a little pet project. A news aggregator that only has bitcoin related stuff.

I'm open to sugestions, critics, whatever that can improve the service.

Right now it get news from google blog search, rocketice blog search, Yahoo News, Reddit, Youtube tag search and Bitcoin Weekly.

If any of you know of some other website that can be a good source for bitcoin articles, videos, podcasts, etc. please post here or use the contact form at the website.

Thanks,

Psy

6818  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [PHP] BitLuck Lottery Script - Released under LGPLv3.0 on: April 19, 2011, 03:09:35 PM
I'm not saying you will but you could just not use the script and then make a script that pays one of your accounts. You would win all the time and no one can see what's happening behind the scenes.

No, I probably will be winning all the time! but thats because i'll probably be the only one playing Cheesy
6819  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [PHP] BitLuck Lottery Script - Released under LGPLv3.0 on: April 19, 2011, 03:03:27 PM
Sounds interesting. How are you going to make sure the players can see you didn't just pick someone and alter the code?

Yeah, was thinking the same myself. Maybe time to find some other way to pick the winner, using some formula to transform wallet addresses in numbers.

But you know, it runs automatically, even sending the prize, so i would have to be very quick to change the winner just like that when it happens.
I suspect the whole script to choose the winner and send the prize doesn't take more than a couple miliseconds to execute.

I dunno, honnestly. I'll build the site the same way. the bet will only be 10cents. If someone wants to try it, great, if not, great the same way.
I like putting up quick and dirty websites up. Better to buy domains and have something there than leaving them empty. You don't want to know how many parked domains i have... really... Cheesy
6820  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [PHP] BitLuck Lottery Script - Released under LGPLv3.0 on: April 19, 2011, 02:46:55 PM
Yeah, you forgot the cron job Smiley

Can I use decimals on the ticket cost?
Now it shows
/* Ticket cost, in BTC */
$ticket_cost = 1;

can I change it to
/* Ticket cost, in BTC */
$ticket_cost = .01;

Huh??

I'm asking because i still havent installed it, was just giving the code a quick glance.

btw, Nice touch, using phpbb templating engine Wink

Thanks

PS: Won't players get a little "suspicious/fearful" about the winner being chosen randomly by using a sql query instead it being chosen in a more open way?
