So in a post-apocalyptic world without the internet, electricity, and maybe water, your biggest worry would be how to send bitcoin? Bitcoin can already work over satellite or via radio waves. But again that requires electricity or a power generator of some sorts.

How are people going to charge their phones with no electricity? Don't say solar chargers please because majority of people don't have those. And there would probably be a shortage of them since everyone would want one. With no electricity, it's not going to be easy to mass-produce them.
6882  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor or Ledger !! on: November 28, 2021, 08:23:21 AM
Which one is best to buy in 2021?
I am a long-standing Ledger user myself and pretty satisfied with my purchase, but If I needed a new hardware wallet today, I would go for a Trezor. Ledger has let the community down several times by not admitting the extent of the database leak and producing faulty devices. I don't think Trezor or any other company would have handled it any better because it's business and protecting your face and interests above all. Trezor also doesn't like discussing the unfixable seed extraction vulnerability, but I think it is something that should be part of their starting manual and onboarding process. Like I said, protect your interest above all.

Trezor is legacy wallet as well Ledger is most integrated & preferred wallet.
Not exactly sure what this is supposed to mean.

According to me, Long Holders usually prefer Trezor & ledger is preferred for everyday transactions.
They were both created for the same purpose. There is no reason to think that hodlers use Trezor for long-term storage, but they work with a Ledger for everyday transactions. Usually it's either one or the other.

Ledger and Trezor  Wallet are both recommended for anybody who doesn't care much about their features but needs to save their funds on a safe zone.
And what features would that be that we don't care about?

Ledger wallet supports more coins upto 1800 cryptocurrency while Trezor supports about 1600 kinds of coins. So, anybody who cannot find the coins which they hold on Trezor will likely get recommended to use Ledger despite any dispute that may be related to the hardware wallet.
Most people wouldn't be able to name 50 different coins even if they had a gun pointed to their head. So those numbers mean nothing. Besides, both Ledger devices support the same coins. On Trezor, it's the other way around. The Model One doesn't support all coins that the Model T does.

Ledger has an open source security known as Blockchain open Ledger Operating system which can be accessed by anybody that knows how to check for vulnerability. This helps the platform to keep up with the strength of their hardware against attacker.

Whereas, Trezor does not have an open source security but only operates on their own security.
Ehh, what? I am not sure what a "Blockchain open Ledger Operating system" is, but the difference between the two is that Ledger uses a secure element which is closed-source. You cannot reproduce it because the code is not public. Trezor, doesn't have a secure element at all and is reproducible and open-source.
6883  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Problem updating Ledger firmware. on: November 28, 2021, 07:55:19 AM
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app and I get the same error.
What app are you installing/uninstalling?
I came across this reddit post where another user had the same error on the Nano X while using VeChain. He got it fixed by installing the latest VeChain app on his device. Try and uninstall your apps manually before updating the firmware, maybe that will fix it. Or updating them to the newest versions.
There are several threads where people complained seeing that error in connection to their Litecoin, but like you said, they fixed it by installing the newest firmware and LTC app.

If I use electrum, it doesn't matter if I don't update the firmware? I guess it is better to update, isn't it?
Yeah, you should still be using the latest firmware for various reasons such as vulnerability and bug fixes, stability improvements, etc.

Is your Ledger Live updated to the newest version which is currently 2.35.2?
6884  Economy / Gambling / Re: ⚡8BET.io⚡ COINOPOLIS II Crypto Slot ⚡ LOCKED EXPANDING WILD RESPINS 💥 on: November 28, 2021, 07:34:44 AM
Hi 8Bet,

I am keeping track of the withdrawal amounts and requirements for some crypto casinos in my thread Withdrawal Fees and Withdrawal Amounts on Crypto Casinos. There seems to be conflicting information regarding 8Bet. Some are claiming that the minimum withdrawal amount is 0.002 BTC while other users see 0.001 BTC in their accounts. Can you shed some more light on this and tell us which one is correct or if both are correct, how is it determined what the minimum will be for an account?
6885  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Table] Withdrawal Fees and Withdrawal Amounts on Crypto Casinos on: November 28, 2021, 07:28:02 AM
Oh yes you are right this casino requires KYC to play. so this thread is only for casinos that do not apply KYC at the time of registration
Maybe you need to add this information on the main page because I only see new sites and negative reputations being considered
The negative reputation is the most important factor I look at. However, if the casino requires KYC from me to create an account, there is of course no way for me to register and check the withdrawal requirements on my own. I create betting accounts on all these sites to check the minimums myself without relying on FAQs and other data.

Hey Pmalek, I think the minimum withdrawal amount for 8bet.io needs to be updated/revised. Based on the discussion between me and other user in their thread as you can read here, there is a difference about the minimum withdrawal. The minimum withdrawal 0.002mBTC seems to be applied for users with no deposit history only. Normal users with at least one deposit gets 0.001mBTC minimum withdrawal.
I am going to need confirmation for that from their admin to be 100% sure. I will make a post in their ANN thread asking about the minimums. Let's see what he says...
6886  Other / Archival / Re: Newbies, don't be naive on: November 27, 2021, 07:48:34 PM
This is because such channels provide ready-made tips ready to use. You don't need to analyze anything yourself, you don't need to learn, you can just blindly follow someone`s advice.
That's a very dangerous strategy. You are relying on the fact that someone else has done his homework but you have no idea if they did. These groups pretend to be made up of professional analysts. They brag around with powerful buzzwords that make the newbies think that those people know what they are talking about. In reality, they are paid groups sending fake tips or organizing pump & dump scams.

And for many people it turns out to be much easier, even if they are aware of a possible scam. Because in case of failure and loss of money, you can blame everyone around you, but not yourself.
True, but the fact that you lost your money remains. And once you find out that you were tricked, you will ask yourself how can I have been so naive?

People are looking for a headman who will tell them they`ll become rich and happy, and at the same time they don`t need to think about anything, since someone else has already thought for them.
People generally don't like to hear the truth because the truth hurts. It's honest and brutal. They like fairytales. They want to hear optimistic forecasts that their investments will return huge returns and they don't need to worry. It's just a matter of time before they can start counting their money.
6887  Other / Meta / Re: how to recover a ban account??? on: November 27, 2021, 07:06:36 PM
can you share me  the email adress where i can sent apeal
No, I can't. I am not sure whether the email accounts are somehow user specific, or not. Anyways, you don't need anyone else to give it to you, you can see it in the ban box at the top of the page after you log in. I think when you copy the message (like you did), the ban appeal email gets shortened automatically. Probably to protect it being visible on the forum and having people mass-spam it.
6888  Other / Meta / Re: Proposal: Rename the "Press" board to "Spammer of the Month" board on: November 27, 2021, 09:21:22 AM
Perhaps it's time to blame the persons who manage a campaign and accept such shitposers who give almost nothing other than bringing down the value of the forum (at least the content/discussion)
I doubt that any of the popular managers who manage Bitcoin-paying signature campaigns would accept such posts knowingly. If some of them do get counted, it might just be that they are not aware of it. A simple PM informing them about what is happening in the Press board could change that.

When we are talking about the majority of altcoin bounties that include signature campaigns, I am sure that they don't care about the quality their participants produce one bit. It's all about the visibility of their signatures. One could try to inform them and advice them not to count such posts, but I think that's just a waste of time.

What else can be done? Tagging them for mismanaging campaigns? I doubt spammers care that the campaigns they participate in are managed by someone with red paint on his profile.
6889  Other / Meta / Re: Does this include plagiarism? on: November 27, 2021, 08:59:25 AM
The above is right the source came from cnbcindonesia but the 3rd one seems not to be a copy-pasted tried to check it with that tool and also tried to search it through Google but no result.
The original source for the third post could also be an Indonesian site. If you look at the image that the user placed inside his post (https://ibb.co/42wCrRr), it's in Indonesian if I am not mistaken. I am certain that the user didn't create that himself and took it from somewhere. Maybe from the same article where the data in his post originates from. After that, he only needs to translate it into English.

They probably expected that their actions would stay under the radar. They only shot themselves in the foot with threads like this one in which they are acting ignorant and asking why one of their accounts got banned. There are more eyes on them now then ever, and new dirt keep popping up.

When I saw the username "Charles" in the last link you shared, I immediately though of Charles-Tim lol but it's got nothing to do with him.
6891  Other / Meta / Re: how to recover a ban account??? on: November 27, 2021, 08:10:36 AM
This is the most obvious reason for the ban. Spam.
And plagiarism.

Here is just one of the posts that got nuked:
https://loyce.club/archive/posts/5835/58351191.html

Here is one of the posts where the information could have been taken from. But maybe that one is also plagiarized from somewhere else and is not the original one:
The change of basic technology will bring application innovation. Ethereum's two-tier and three-tier technologies are becoming more and more mature. The opportunity of industry transformation still lies in Ethereum's layered technology. It should be proficient in two-tier and three-tier technologies as familiar with bitcoin technology. Bitcoin is very stable and unchanged. It is the best investment. But I think Ethereum is more fun.

I am sure there are more examples like the one above.
For those who would like to check it out, this is the member's complete record of scrapped posts.
6892  Other / Meta / Re: What’s up with these accounts on Beginners & Help? – The "Hi/Hello/Thanks" tribe on: November 27, 2021, 07:58:28 AM
It's an obvious farm, no doubt about it. It's either run by the same person or a few of them coordinating the work. They aren't even trying to hide what they are doing. I mean, one of the accounts was named farmland.

I suggest using WeSpam as an appropriate name if and when the next farm is born.
I am glad they got discovered and gained the attention of a few people who know how to disguise these farmers.
6893  Other / Meta / Re: how to recover a ban account??? on: November 27, 2021, 07:46:02 AM
Like the message says, you are probably banned for spamming or plagiarizing other people's posts. Those kind of bans are usually permanent.
What you can do is send an appeal to the email address that is displayed at the top of the forum after you login in. But pay attention that it's the correct email address. The thing you posted in your OP is not correct!

You may appeal your ban also by creating a thread in Meta from an alt account (in this case it's your Stefanie302 account) and explain why you believe that the forum admins made a mistake and how you have contributed positively to the forum. If you don't have a history of positive contributions, it's going to be hard to get your account back.

What you are not allowed to do is use that account to make other posts outside of your ban appeal thread. And you have already done that. Go and delete the post you make in the altcoin section otherwise this account of yours will also get banned because of ban evading. When one of your accounts is banned, you can only appeal and request for the ban to be lifted, but you can't participate in other discussions like nothing happened.
6894  Other / Meta / Re: Which is the most appropriate format to qoute reply a post? on: November 27, 2021, 07:40:40 AM
I guess no one noticed that this is thread from 2019 that got bumped.

Anyways, I prefer to see the quote before the new reply. That way I know which post or what part of a post the user is replying to. Doing it the other way around seems unconventional to say the least.

What of if I don't want to quote the person and want to type the person name in my own reply will the person know?
Of course you can, but you should use this bot to get notified on every mention and merit you get on this forum. [TelegramBot] Merit watcher and Mention Notification Bot
That's not what the user asked. That bot, like many other bots, helps you to see posts and mentions of your name. It's not going to help someone else who doesn't use a bot to notice that he got mentioned somewhere. For that to work, they need to be subscribed to such a service themselves.

I would also point out that an inexperienced user may have trouble editing posts that consist of multi-quote posts, as they need to know exactly what needs to be edited to make the post look correct when it is published.
Don't forget that many people use mobile phones to post on Bitcointalk. It is a tedious process to edit and delete big chunks of a post on a phone. No matter the experience of the user, this could also be a reason why we are seeing it.

Hi zuzie,

thanks for the suggestion. I am familiar with btb88.com and I remember that I even checked the site at one point in the past when I was updating this thread. I can't remember the reason why I didn't include it in the table. Could it be KYC? Does this particular casino require KYC and identity verification during the registration? If they do, that's the reason why I never signed up and/or submitted any of my data to check it out.
6896  Other / Archival / Re: Newbies, don't be naive on: November 26, 2021, 05:44:05 PM
If what he is trying to trade (be it a super strategy for making money or a miracle bot that generates profit itself) worked, then why would he need you then? Ask yourself this question every time someone offers you to buy or invest your money in such a super product.
This is the most important thing in your whole opening post. It shows that the industry is full with uneducated (maybe also unintelligent) individuals who can't ask themselves why am I so special that this person needs me? Why is he looking to help me to make money and not his own family, friends, relatives, neighbors, and other people much closer to him rather than an unknown person over the internet? Or if he doesn't have any family and friends, why would he include more people in such a profitable business where you only have to click on one button and a magical software earns you tons of money?

Not falling for obvious scams does unfortunately require a clear head and a little bit of intelligence.

5. Coin burn
Yes, the mystery is finally solved. Smiley

5. Coin fork
5. Coin term
5. Coin chart
That's all i can think as of now.
It was "coin burn". And besides, "coin chart" has one character too many, so it wouldn't fit this time around. Also, you can only make one guess per term. So if you are submitting a guess for word #5, you can't submit multiple ones.

One more round coming up in the next couple of days and then it's time to end this challenge.
6898  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Facts about gambling addiction on: November 26, 2021, 09:15:26 AM
It's interesting that the article didn't mention things like the financial situation of gamblers and even race. When I am in Germany either for holiday or work and I meet up with a few friends, we sometimes visit a few sportsbooks because one of my friends gambles on sports on a daily basis. I often look at the people inside and I notice that almost all of them are foreigners. Germans are nowhere to be found in German sportsbooks. The majority of the gamblers are Africans, ex-Yugoslavia, Turks, and Italians (if we go to one specific shop located in a part of the town where the majority of the population is from Italy). Alcohol, cigarettes, and even marihuana can often be smelled in close vicinity to the shops.
6899  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: why there is change address. on: November 26, 2021, 07:55:43 AM
I read that when you sent bitcoin to someone the output you are sending is the balance of the input you receive last.
Good non-custodial wallets such as Electrum allow you to select which inputs you want to spend from. It's a feature that was already mentioned in this thread and it's known as coin control. You control and decide which input to spend from. Therefore, you can select the first, the last, the smallest, or the biggest input in your wallet.

Quote from:  Elyse Jupiter
Consider the example of taking a $20 bill out of your wallet to pay for a $5 cup of coffee. You would give the $20 to the cashier, and the cashier would give you back the $15. While the $15 belongs to you, it is not available for the time it takes the cashier to give you back your change
The comparison with individual bills is a good one. Each time someone sends you bitcoin to your personnel wallet (not an account on an exchange), that becomes a new bill that you have. The amounts don't matter, each transaction is a new separate unit.

But if am using my ordinary fiat wallet and I use $20 to pay bill and I still have other dollars in my wallet I can use them to buy other things before my change will come. Why is  bitcoin spending different.
Again, it depends on how many UTXOs (bills) you have in your wallet. If you have multiple, you can spend one of those while you are waiting for your $20 UTXO to be confirmed on chain.
6900  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Black Friday deals 2021 on: November 26, 2021, 07:35:53 AM
So, let me know if there is any trusted site to buy Ledger with a black Friday discount.
Check out the post I made above regarding Black Friday offers from https://cryptomaan.nl/. It's one of Ledger's official resellers based in Belgium and the Netherlands. If it doesn't have to be a Nano X wallet, he will get a decent discount with €14 off of the Nano S. Since you mentioned two devices, he would be saving €28 in total. But you have to check if the site ships the items wherever it is that you and your friend are located.
