Well that was a bad day at the office. Got liquidated on a long, lost about a Ducati's worth of BTC. That's just what you get for smoking to much hopium I guess.

If I'd only... but like they say in Holland, "achteraf kijk je een koe in zijn reet".  Wink

Google translate fails on this one giving "afterwards you look a cow in his ass" instead of “after it is easier to look the cow in the ass!” in regards to hindsight. Good expression took me awhile to figure it out. Smiley

Someone is attacking the sv bitcoin trash variant, causing a re-org.
Legacy markets are also pretty rekt.
We are not alone.
You may now return to your weeping and gnashing of teeth.

It looks as if the reorg was caused by themselves due to incompetency.

https://twitter.com/el33th4xor/status/1064571586274045952

Which is hilarious, except today I am not in good mood.

Ha, that is funny. they don't need any help in fucking things up!

Time to be distracted.. ehh

One of my favorite games, this was a good game. Smiley

Well shit the day is getting away from me and I gotta split in a few hours so maybe catch up later. Smiley

I was heavily involved in trying to get Ron Paul elected in 2008 which involved keeping up to date on most things going on on Ron Paul Forums.

After the 2008 elections we moved forward with the liberty movement (which was usurped by the corporate Tea Party) and kept each other informed on various projects related to liberty and freedom. Bitcoin was mentioned early on, then mentioned more. I'd been a big gold bug and had always tried to figure out how to convert all of my money into gold while still being able to spend it. I figured if I could at least demonstrate how one person can do it, then it would allow others to do the same. Problem was that gold requires storage which costs money. Any gold credit/debit card charged a fee per use and a monthly storage fee.

When someone first mentioned bitcoin and speculated that in the future we would use a basket of currencies as our every day currencies I pushed back because I felt that gold was the answer to future currencies. But after I saw that bitcoin hit dollar parity I downloaded the wallet. It had a button you could click to start mining so I tried to mine. It crashed my computer so I was like...screw Bitcoin, this thing sucks. And went on with my life.

Then I read about the jump from $2 to $32 and I decided it was time to get in. When it came back down to $17 I cashed out my Roth IRA and bought $10k worth (as it spent 2 years slowly falling down to $2). I sold it all when it came back up to $12.

I swear to God those Teabaggers were Retards! It was hilarious when they were told what a teabagger is. I had an idiot neighbor who had the tea bags taped to his baseball cap. Hah what a tard.

On a serious note it was sad to see the corporate scum manipulate all those voters but it was obvious and it really made me lose faith in americans as a whole.

Be sure to check out the new bcash SV website http://bcashsv.com

I love the Wiki page!
Glad someone quoted this from a few days ago I had to skip a huge amount of pages.

Somewhere in here in 2008, I can't find a way to search the site it's been changed so much.

Too much wasted time, done searching. Smiley

Yeah, I think a fair number of us got into it from folding, which is cool because a lot of the new rich elite are going to be fundamentally altruistic people.

Of course, along with the gamblers and drugs enthusiasts...nothing wrong with that, mind you.

That is a great thing (The Folders that got in on the ground floor), unfortunately I will never be in that category, I had a 7k electric bill at that time instead of generating BTC by some unforeseen circumstances that stopped me from switching over the machines I had planned too. On the bright side I was top 1500 in the world at one point Folding and we won the Chimp Challenge and became the number one team in the world. Of course that does not come with a payday. Cheesy

But I never was much into material things so its no biggie. Smiley

AFA the gamblers and druggies. I'd hazard a guess that only the better gamblers out of that entire pool still has any left. Smiley

HOLY FUCK, 11 Goddamn pages to catch up from Yesterday! Shit thats impossible.

Refunds have all been sent out last I spoke to SQRL (last week). SQRL is busy packaging and shipping acorns, water blocks have been received (as I understand it), the current hold up is waiting on more BCU-1525's to arrive from Xilinx. As far as I know those BCU's have shipped and are expected any time.

Thanks for keeping this thread updated.

I'm here waiting for the coming day when I can post an announcement about the bitstreams community developers have created and are releasing Smiley

Yup, these guys have waited long enough so it's time they got some love. Smiley
6885  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Acorn M.2 FPGA based GPU Accelerator on: November 19, 2018, 06:15:11 PM

you mean the acorns or the bcu1525?

on discord they showed  a lot of acorns supposedly ready to ship. and they really havent given hard numbers so unless its a huge drop i figure they would just ship.

there was some firmware (or something) issue they found last minute that would be hard to field update so they will update there, then ship.

i think they said they will not release the acorns till the miner software is ready. maybe its not ready.

no matter what the reason, it sure is late.

some have claimed a fedex label has been created (in house) but that doesnt mean squat till they are picked up.

my acorn orders are from july, and i have got any email as far as when it will go out. at the mineority store they just sit as "paid."

disappointing for sure but i was prepared for huge delays. wanted new toys and took the chance.
oh well. im sure i will get them but how profitable they will be remains to be seen. but the fun and learning factor stays the same no matter when they arrive.

I'm in the same camp as you vapourminer re: Acorn order and interest in new toys. I ordered in July (order number just under 600), but I ordered devices for a late September delivery. At this point I am 6 weeks past due for shipping, unlike the August delivery folks who are 10+ weeks past due for shipping.

I joined the game back in late 2011 when BFL, among others, was pitching their scam first FPGA product. It sounded interesting, but I was a skeptic so I watched from the sidelines.

To me the SQRLs and Mineority team had a little legitimacy due to their history (SQRLs successfully makes other stuff) and OhGodACompany released the free EthlargementPill, so I was willing to take a chance. I also paid with BTC that was purchased when I switched from LTC (mined in late 2011 and early 2012) to BTC and ETH. That's how I am still playing now. I only buy crypto mining gear with crypto, converting to fiat if necessary.

Smart man, that's the correct way to do it.

Cheap Moneros Alert!

Get them while you can. Smiley

Yup. What bothers me is what Monero have to do with Nasdaq crash?

I noticed the dumpage is on polo and there was a nice Arb opportunity but I have locked account there so I bought a little higher on Binance. fuck Golman Ballsacks, they can dump all they want. We will eat it up and not give it back. Smiley

Hahah! gnight. Smiley

I would like to hear people’s stories about how they first heard about Bitcoin ?

I read about it in Wired Magazine in early 2013.  I was familiar with gold farming in WOW so it didn’t seem too outlandish.  It took a second mention in the media in November 2013 for me to pay attention and find this forum on google.

Somewhere in here in 2008, I can't find a way to search the site it's been changed so much.

Holy moley Bitcoinland.

I've been without the internet since going out to the jungle a few days ago. Dude was working on fixing the service as I was leaving to go to the city for my delayed dental implant surgery today. Just woke up from the aftereffects from the anesthesia and logged on at the hotel.

Yowzer. Seems we had the big dip some people were waiting for... currently $5638USD/$7422CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

I'm glad I was able to pay for my surgery (around 3 coins) while I could still get over $8kCAD/btc including fees. Got an extra kiss when the dentist offered to wait until May for the $8.7kUSD that I was going to pay him with one of my credit cards  that was refused, despite having a $10k+CAD credit balance.

As is it, I now have 16 fresh new implants in my face and instead of having to sell some Bitcoin to pay off the credit card when I head back up north, I'll have enough spare cash to buy some coins while the price is still low, and I won't have to sell any more coins until May when I finally get zirconia "Hollywood" teeth. Life is good.

Unfortuneately it seems I'm eliminated from Micgoosens' bottom-price-by-the-new-year game. Oh well. Win some lose some.

Hope they put you on some good meds!

I got home friday night to this crap and wish I had stayed at the casino.

No way I'm catching up on this thread (50+ PAGES!!!) before the casino again tomorrow.

Anyway back to football.

And does anyone have a link to a good synopsis of the bch retard-fest?

6891  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: November 17, 2018, 05:27:43 PM
In my opinion monero is one of the best private coin at the moment and I'm sure monero is private enough to make your transaction not traceable and the fact in the dark web they still using monero for the transaction.

https doesn't hide the fact that i'm using https so that's why i don't use encryption because everyone is trying to crack encryption so i just don't use encryption because no one is looking at unencrypted data because everyone wants encrypted data to crack

Not true, unecrypted data gets data mined for keywords it just takes less time than weakly encrypted.

I am fairly confident Satoshi destroyed his own keys.

He talks a lot about how lost keys are a donation to the community.

For Satoshi, the Bitcoin ideology was far more important than getting rich.

I could not stand this fall and sold all my Monero, it seems to me that I did the right thing because the market is very stormy. I got out of many coins when I fall even lower then I will buy back.

Yeah? Ten bucks (ok 1 xmr) says you won't be able to buy as many back at a lower price. Been there done that man... always hodl your XMR, they are priceless! Cheesy

Concur, this strategy never works longterm.

You always get burnt on a spike that doesn't drop.

That HPW dude or bot made like 12 negative posts on 12 different coin's speculation threads in 5 minute timespam--wouldn't take anything he/it said at face value.

What the fuck you talking about?  I did a quick glance at your post history, and it appears that you just discovered bitcoin recently.  You have a lot of alt coin distractions and bullshit in your history... so you  may have only recently become awaken to bitcoin, perhaps?

Part of my point is that you can likely glance through my post history and realize that I am not an AI program.. .so your assertion seems both contrary to the posting evidence my own history, and perhaps your own inabilities to grasp certain kinds of content - hence your failure/refusal to read content and your proclamation that you are wiser because you don't read content while asserting that the content is not meaningful because you chose not to read it..  Get real, Hueristic.

Or should I say, Get a grip, Hueristic?

Not wise, my biggest mistake in life was not switching over 2 of the 6 systems I had crunching F@H on bitcoins launch like I had planned, and yes I've known about it since then.

Are you syncing to an SSD? A resync from scratch may be worthwhile to ensure best performance going forward. Also, are you using the CLI or the GUI?

Yes, I am. I used the link above and redid the chain and now it's fine.

I was using the GUI, but I had a bug in the wallet that I could not understand and so I went back to the CLI. I would try and explain it but I probably couldn't.

In any event, I'm back up and running, thanks for all the help everyone!! Mooonero ftw!! Cheesy

Perhaps you should give GUI v0.13.0.4 a try? Lots of bugs were fixed in this version.

I have been and am still on that version, so yeah... There are still bugs to be found... This one was just too hard to explain let alone recreate.... Roll Eyes

You can always make a vid of you screen if you can recreate issues with a new wallet, or one you don't mind tossing..

That's pretty cool, it would be nice to see it nationally!
