6901  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Spontaneous new in the Forum on: July 18, 2021, 11:38:28 AM
Hi everyone I am spontaneous An I am new here in Forum.
Welcome to bitcointalk, Spontaneous. You'll learn lots of things here if you become more interested towards Bitcoin.

The instructions im youtube is not clear.
These instructions describe how to get into a signature campaign and the video is 4 years old, despite the fact that not many things have changed since then. If you want to get paid by posting, you'll have to reach certain ranks.

The rules are the first thing you should read. (shared above)

Here's what you possibly want:  Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns.
This is also important: FAQ: Everything you need to know about forum 'activity, account ranks and merit.
6902  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What are the technical obstacles that Bitcoin has to overcome in the next decade on: July 18, 2021, 10:40:40 AM
franky1 is a "troll" and has a hard time to provide anything of substance (see for example here). i agree with you, that adding more digits is not a technical obstacle and also would not change the scarcity of bitcoin
I know who's franky1, but I'd discourage anyone from having an disagreement with him, just like you do. There's just not a point, it is completely meaningless to discuss for over a post with him.

maybe if you discover the words sharable units. and understand scarcity in regards to shares of units.
Alright, scarcity definition:  A situation in which something is not easy to find or get. It doesn't matter if that something becomes easier in terms of sharing, or if the digits of its unit can is extended. That is your assumption.
6903  Other / Meta / Re: Enable posting by paying fee on: July 18, 2021, 10:23:12 AM
*Free discussion board*  Tongue

Usually, one would pay to avoid waiting for post submission and to insert images. I don't know if you've read this before, but you can buy a copper membership and upgrade to Member rank.

Is there any way he can pay the fee in any other altcoin where tx fee is not greater than the amount itself or suggestions on how to pay fee effectively ?
Bitcointalk could have its own lightning channel, but I'm afraid that there's no point on implementing what you may find needed.
6904  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What are the technical obstacles that Bitcoin has to overcome in the next decade on: July 18, 2021, 09:55:45 AM
both have been ruled out as viable options due to the scarcity promise of limited supply
Where's the scarcity promise? Would you mind sharing a link? I know that whether we had 8 or 18 digits, we'd still never exceed the 21,000,000 BTC; isn't that what matters? Even if it can be divided, how would that affect the Bitcoin or the people's wealths?

I think that Satoshi made it pretty clear that we could extend its decimal places in the future. There's no reason, at the moment, though. You can't send less than 547 sats, so it'd be ironic to upgrade to 12 places.
6905  Other / Meta / Re: [Proposal] Hiding the signature space in the Off-Topic section on: July 18, 2021, 09:47:48 AM
If you create two subforums called "Spamming and quality posts only" you would be surprised to see a lot of shit posters in the quality post only subforum, the fact is that even shit posters are not comfortable where their fellow shit posters are, they want to be where quality posters are.
Sure, that's why they frequent on the Off-Topic board. Because, there are lots of quality posters there...

There is no root to shit posting. imho
What would you say that is the cause behind most of the forum spamming? I'd guess signature campaigns & bounties. There's even a marketplace of people who farmed accounts by spamming and who they, then, sell them to other people who'll also spam to earn from signature campaigns & bounties. If the managers stopped accepting shitposters, that procedure would be useless.

Where there's money, there's immorality.
6906  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [VIDEO]: Bitcoin Exists Only in Satoshi's Imagination on: July 18, 2021, 08:44:02 AM
Essentially, you've just found another way to rephrase the tired old cliché that Bitcoin supposedly isn't backed by anything.
I don't think that this has anything to do with the existence of Bitcoin. It is indeed, like gold, not backed by anything.

You  people  are full of imagination. Bitcoin does not represent debt like dollar. There are no debtors, creditors, loan contracts, or collaterals. Bitcoin is imaginary. In your wallet you hold a number that quantifies imaginary bitcoins. That's all. Watch the video again.
You're closed minded. In our wallet, we hold private keys which can be used to sign transactions. There's no reason to think that the number of an output quantifies anything. It's just a balance that increases and decreases based on the transactions you sign. If we all agree that we could debt each other using that number, why should you try to stop it?

I'm still waiting a valid answer to this:
Quote
You should picture it in another way. Imagine a 3D printer printing tangible items called “bitcoins” every 10 minutes and whoever was near the machine could earn them. If some people (bitcoins' owners) started using these coins as a medium of exchange, you'd say that they do exist. What exactly would it change if instead of tangible items, we had a public ledger showing who owns what and that we knew that this ledger can't be censored or erased by anyone's will. It'd not make bitcoins non-existing, but rather intangible. And that's because that ledger wouldn't show an IOU, but a strong proof that you don't owe me anything. You paid me.
6907  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Solo mining using Bitcoin Core wallet on: July 17, 2021, 07:36:18 PM
Why it is not allowed any longer to solo mine directly using Bitcoin Core wallet?
Solo-mining is always allowed by Bitcoin Core. It'd be ironic if the official release of a Bitcoin client didn't have a solo-mining option.

Open your Bitcoin Core console and type “generatetoaddress <nblocks> <address> <maxtries>”.

Example:
Code:
generatetoaddress 1 tb1qm87j39792m2afwduss7hfwqg3xxrrz2tz8yxrw 2000000000

You won't be able to solve a block, because the difficulty is incredibly high for an average solo-miner. Try creating your own hard fork of Bitcoin and then use that for solo-mining, just to see that you're allowed to do that.

6909  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin completes value transmission, how to perfectly avoid criminal ? on: July 17, 2021, 08:43:31 AM
Bitcoin mining uses too much electricity! But don't pay attention to the environmental impact of the fiat system, banks, ATMs, armored cars, etc.
That's a quite wider topic to analyze. Yes, I agree with the money laundering & the investment risk, but Bitcoin mining is a different story that has never been seeing again historically. It's not a simple “energy-costly procedure” and in my opinion, it shouldn't be compared with the banks neither with any energy-wasting possession like Gold.

(If we assume that the operation of banks and gold mining are “wastes”)

The mining of Bitcoin is a greedy game and even if it uses human's greed for the common good, I'd say that it can be really dangerous (& unethical). There is no standard energy required for extracting those 6.25 BTC every 10 minutes. It changes every 2016 blocks and by the technology that is being used for calculating those SHA256d results. At the moment, it uses 70.36 TWh per year, but that thing can change incredibly quickly.

The energy required could be considered as an analogous variable with the market value (of 1 BTC). If the market value increased, it'd be more profitable to spend more energy on mining, because you'd be earning more in exchange rate with fiat. So, by comparing Bitcoin with banks, you're comparing a non-globally adopted product with a globally adopted one.

If we assume that Bitcoin will be globally adopted in the future ($1M — $10M), you'll realize that Banks use much less energy than Bitcoin. It'll have environmental impact in the future, whether the majority of those hashes is being calculated by renewable energy sources or not. If Bitcoin wasn't a thing, these sources could be used to cover another impact, so Bitcoin, essentially affects indirectly the environment.
6910  Other / Meta / Re: [Proposal] Hiding the signature space in the Off-Topic section on: July 17, 2021, 07:31:13 AM
How is this the problem? If more signature campaigns paid for off topic posts you would be complaining again because there would be more people posting in there.
No I wouldn't. It's not the total of the participants who use that subforum to earn money; it's the quality of those participants' posts.

Imagine a spammer who no longer gets paid to spam in a certain board, they won't just stop spamming. Instead they simply migrate to another place and spam there since they are still "paid to spam".
Should we, then, create a subforum called “Spamming” where they could constantly spam their shitty content? Don't you see that this is a makeshift? We aren't tackling the problem from its root which is the way managers hire their participants and have then no responsibility.
6911  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: building a mynode rasp pi on: July 17, 2021, 07:20:24 AM
I have lots of questions and would like to create a FAQ thread on mynode.
Great. I ordered a Raspberry Pi 4 and it'll be here within the next 3-4 days. May I use your thread for asking questions too?

I purchased the 99 software codes as I want this to be a full version.
Just realized that it isn't open-source & free. Thanks. Although, the premium version offers the followings too:
  • Premium Support
  • One-Click Upgrades
  • VPN - Remote Access
  • Tor - Remote Access
  • BTC Pay Server
  • Mempool Viewer
  • Caravan
  • Specter
  • LNBits
  • Thunderhub

I'm not sure that I need any of these so I may just use the community edition...

115 1tb ssd
Is that an external drive?  Nevermind, I saw that it's an external.

I'll be using an external SSD and I've heard that they're slower than the internal ones. I wonder how many days it'll take for me to finish.

I can certainly understand that someone might want to go with the premium package purely for the support option, so they don't have to rely on forums/telegram groups etc... but charging to get "free" features (btcpay server, Spectr, LNBits etc) from the other systems seems excessive. Undecided
It seems a great marketing move in my opinion; leaving those who're willing to donate you some extra features along with a “premium support”, I really don't know how that differs  Tongue, but I just have one query with the premium edition:  Do you have the source code? Can you actually take a look on every line of the premium project? It's a double-edged sword to attempt charging your users in an open-source environment. I mean, if you do charge them and reveal the source code, they can share it with others or even upload it publicly. If you don't reveal them your code, you're ruining the whole point of open-source softwares.
6912  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum on iPhone on: July 17, 2021, 07:04:07 AM
In the case the data were lifted from your phone this doesn't matter whether addresses were anonymous or pseudo-anonymous? They just get pegged to your identity. That is why every user should avoid working with crypto via his/her phone.
So, you meant privacy ruination. Not tearing off anonymity.

Did you really expect to hear from me the name of agent who reveal this info to me? I would be strange if I did this. Take it for granted...
I'm already taking it for granted that they spy on me, but you should be aware of your statements. It hasn't been proved that the majority of the electrum servers is being ran by surveillance agencies and you're raising a big issue for such short meaning.

You can also make BlueWallet connect to any Electrum server of your choice. This might be important for you if you are running your own server.
Can you also point your lightning server too? With no third parties involved?
6913  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 16, 2021, 03:59:09 PM
He started out mining to a single address but I believe later he started going with a new address for each block.
Satoshi never reused any of his known addresses. Each time he solved a block, he used a different address.
6914  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 16, 2021, 03:48:02 PM
There are the "zero" addresses, formed from a private key with all zeroes.
There is no private key equal with zero, because that would be outside the secp256k1 range. If by “zero” address you mean the one that has its RIPEMD-160 zero (1111111111111111111114oLvT2), then it has the same chances of having 296 valid private keys. The fact that no one knows it doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.

Your definition of the word impossible may differ from mine.
I never said that word.

This address is unspendable. And this time I mean it in the correct sense of the word. It's a hash from zeroes. You can see coins sent to it, but never spent.
No, it's not the correct sense of the word. Read what you quoted:
Quote
it would be nearly impossible to find the pre-image

Yeah, but if none of us (ok I may well be exaggerating a wee bit) understand the significance, then did you really say anything?
Do you really consider this a valid argument? If none of you understood that the earth isn't flat, shouldn't I try to at least convince you that it's not?
6915  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 16, 2021, 03:15:20 PM
Not every peep in this thread recognizes and understands math an sciences

I've recognized the Wall Observer before, but I didn't become mean. I just corrected his wording for the common good.
6916  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 16, 2021, 02:49:37 PM
There are also known addresses with no private keys.

There are no addresses with no private keys.

Better formulation:  It hasn't been proved that there's an address that has no private keys. On average, each one has 296 different keys.
6917  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Create an uncompressed public address from a compressed public address on: July 16, 2021, 01:25:33 PM
I need uncompressed public address now, could someone generate this ?
If someone could generate an uncompressed address or the specific address you wrote?

If it's the first one, then yes, you can still generate uncompressed addresses, it's just not recommended. Instead of hashing the compressed public key in the step 2, hash the uncompressed public key.

For example, take this public key:
Code:
02817c2e406a127b429cdd69f3f7980fdaf9d50d69ca17ba05510dc2d7d8b49057

The starting “02” means that your y is an even number. Solve the equation: y2 = x3 + 7 and you get:
Code:
x = 817c2e406a127b429cdd69f3f7980fdaf9d50d69ca17ba05510dc2d7d8b49057
y = 4af04f9a650a6c1475a2722abde70ace45426054155dd1f5af7fcdf5e8bd8e42

Your uncompressed public key will be “04” + x + y.

Thus, we have:
Code:
04817c2e406a127b429cdd69f3f7980fdaf9d50d69ca17ba05510dc2d7d8b490574af04f9a650a6c1475a2722abde70ace45426054155dd1f5af7fcdf5e8bd8e42

Hash it with SHA256 and continue the steps by yourself. This uncompressed public key gives us:
Code:
13V9JCQ2WhFp2vkKadeuydVg4heHptQNPo

If you meant the specific address, then it's impossible. (for you to generate what he did)
6918  Other / Meta / Re: [Proposal] Hiding the signature space in the Off-Topic section on: July 16, 2021, 12:14:00 PM
That's probably something that needs to be taken up with the campaign manager.
Generally, the campaign manager has to be aware of those who hire.

Admins and mod don't need to hear our voice everytime, if you don't feel comfortable communicating on the off-topic board why not ignore the board
That's not the point... I want to discuss in the off-topic section and these meaningless posts prevent me from having a constructive discussion. I obviously know how to use the ignore button.

Most Signature campaigns don't pay for the posts made in the off-topic section.
That's the problem.

If you visit Bitcoin Discussion and Altcoin Discussion sections, you will find much more spam as compare to the off-topic section.
I personally doubt.
6919  Other / Meta / Re: [Proposal] Hiding the signature space in the Off-Topic section on: July 16, 2021, 09:30:38 AM
Pretty much the same thing can be said about almost every other section, it's filled with signature spam. In every topic you get couple of genuine replies and rest is just filling up the signature quota and reiterating what's been said already.
In almost every other section, there are users who participate in signature campaigns and they indeed write high-quality content. Objectively, the majority of the 777coin and Bitvest.io participants are shitposters. You can't really have a constructive discussion, they just post to fulfill their weekly requirements. In a subforum where they have dominated due to their campaign's allowance, I'll prefer not to discuss.

That is why I say the fight against the spam has to be delegated to campaign managers, after all someone is paying them for their spam and there are only a dozen campaigns with a handful of managers while there are thousands of participants.
I proposed a solution. Another solution could be to forbid the managers from rewarding for off-topic posts.
6920  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum on iPhone on: July 16, 2021, 07:37:31 AM
OP, avoid using Electrum on iPhone if it isn't recommended. I'd go with BlueWallet if I were you.

It is well known fact that most of Electrum servers (software) have been created by surveillance agencies
Even if I take it for granted that most of the servers out there are ran by surveillance agencies, what's your evidence?

As a result if you connect to those servers via client installed on you mobile   the anonymity  of your addresses  is teared off.
You mean the pseudonymity? The addresses aren't anonymous. Each one is like an identity; a pseudonym that is being used by you and can be tracked down from the transactions.
