6901  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-02-21]The Bitcoin ETF Will Be Rejected According to Prediction Markets on: February 21, 2017, 09:33:48 AM
It doesn't say anything. Even if the market was predicting that it would be approved it wouldn't say anything. Only thing that matters is what will happen on March 11 next month. I guess it's more an attempt to make people less confident about the potential ETF approval, as the price is going up in advance just because of this event. Such artcles being pushed online before important events have a specific reason...
6902  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-02-20]3 exits for Chinese Bitcoin HFT traders with millions of funds on: February 20, 2017, 02:57:10 PM
I can't tell what the author is smoking and I definitely don't want any.  If anything, we should be encouraging more peer-to-peer trading and less centralised exchange, not less P2P trading and more centralised exchange, like the article suggests.  It's completely ass-backwards.

It's bias and financial compensation, to write articles the way people behind the scenes want them to be. It's something that nowadays seem to be a hot thing to pump low quality obviously sponsored articles into the net. I fully agree that we should stimulate to cut ties with centralized incentives when it comes to exchanging Bitcoin. But then again, the far majority of the people are nothing more than sheeps following the rest, and thus will continue to value current incompetent and centralized exchanges.
6903  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or gold? on: February 20, 2017, 01:31:14 PM
Regarding hardware wallets, personally, I don't quite understand why people are so obsessed with them since you are just trusting your bitcoins to a third party. I don't mean to say that they can be stolen but if this wallet breaks without repair the effect for you will be absolutely the same, i.e. your coins gone for good. As to me, the best cold storage is a paper wallet with keys encrypted and copies saved in a few places (say, in your safe and in a deposit box in a bank)

In case of the Trezor, you can recover your funds by importing the recovery seed through the web wallet interface of Trezor, or you can just recover you coins through a supported desktop client if you don't want to deal with a centralized incentive (which in this case is the web wallet interface of Trezor). It also depends on how you have set everything up. But as long as you have the recovery seed, your coins will always be safe in case your device gets stolen or completely destroyed.
6904  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin make Banks disappear? on: February 20, 2017, 12:48:09 PM
Lets just accept the truth that as long as the governments are not endorsing bitcoin as a currency, we will be at the same situation for a little longer, until the people are the one who are already spreading the news about bitcoin and forced the government to just legalize the use of it.

Though I don't see the time that bitcoin will make banks disappear, I think it is possible that bitcoin will be seen on banks...  Smiley

Bitcoin doesn't offer the average joes what they want in order to fully adapt it at some point. Here are some reasons;

# Bitcoin isn't a suitable currency for daily purchases due the fees that are likely only to increase, and of course don't forget the confirmation times.
# Bitcoin at all times requires you to be connected to the internet.
# Bitcoin is subject to the volatility.
# Bitcoin can't handle mass adoption.
# Bitcoin is a decentralized incentive, which the average joe type of people don't feel comfortable with as they are used to have the government as central authority.
# Bitcoin is too complicated for a lot people.
# Bitcoin has almost zero merchant adoption if you put it against how other payment services are being accepted globally.

And there are probably a few more things... Long story short; Bitcoin is just an asset as Gold, but then with a far better usability. Gold 2.0?
6905  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does any bank accept Bitcoin? on: February 20, 2017, 12:21:10 PM
as I know, there are many banks accept Bitcoin, so we can easily make transactions. but that does not mean they regarded as official currency Bitcoin. they just made the Bitcoin transactions with mediating role on websites

From the "many" banks that are accepting Bitcoin according to you, name me just one or two so I can have a look at how they "incorporated" Bitcoin. I assume you mistake Bitcoin with the blockchain as technology that banks are testing and potentially might incorporate at some point in the future. These are two differnt things since the blockchain they try to develop and eventually incorporate is something that is heavily centralized.

6907  Economy / Speculation / Re: 11th March, SEC approve or not bitcoin in ETF on: February 20, 2017, 11:57:52 AM
SEC also fights against trading with insider information, which makes me directly wonder whether or not a few of these employees will open up positions in Bitcoin as they basically before everyone else know that it is going to be approved (in case it does get approved). I definitely wouldn't be surprised if that happen to be the reality. SEC is nothing more than a joke with how they operate and "guard" the market.
6908  Economy / Speculation / Re: When the all time high gets smashed on: February 19, 2017, 09:08:06 PM
the (very negative) stalemate with respect to Segwit.

I am happy with what we have achieved so far (price-wise), but I constantly try to temper my happiness knowing that we potentially might go through a hell of a bear market due to the uncertainty around Segwit. It's clear that we (more than ever) need to see the block size get upgraded to a higher number, but as it is, there are zero indications of this to become reality within a reasonable amount of time. In the meanwhile it gives alternatives such as BU more time to take a stronger position in this whole nonsense situation. Nonsense because pools should stop fooling around and just accept Segwit to help Bitcoin move further.
6909  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-02-19] Can the Bitcoin Economy Help Greeks Hide Their Wealth? on: February 19, 2017, 08:34:47 PM
Bitcoin can surely offer a helping hand here, but in case of the average people I think it's more likely for them to head over and find themselves physical Gold to scoop up. If you look at the elderly, then it's obvious that they don't seem to trust anything anymore, which is exactly why I believe Gold will be their preferred option. In case of the younger more tech minded generation, if they happen to understand what Bitcoin is, and how it can help them to outrule the governmental and banking system, then they will surely dive into Bitcoin.
6910  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or gold? on: February 19, 2017, 03:30:26 PM
Other than that, how would you know that there is such a safe room at all (I mean before breaking into the house)?

I was more referring to a movable safe, but it's basically the same principle since it's an obvious object. My main concern was indeed that one could spot that safe at the time someone managed to break into a house. It's basically the same as a hacker that gains access to a cumputer, and then searches through the entire system for useful/valuable information. In case of a hardware wallet, your coins are safe from hackers, while a burglar could run away with the Gold inside the safe (assuming he manages to access what's inside).
6911  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: individual Transaction sizes have been big today! on: February 19, 2017, 03:00:17 PM
I quickly browsed through the addresses connected to these transactions, and to me it seems that they are related to faucets for the most part, and smaller gambling sites. In general, these dusty transactions are block fillers. If you combine plenty of these in one single transaction and send it to another address, then you get such insanely high byte sizes.
6912  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Goodbye Bitcoin on: February 19, 2017, 02:09:57 PM
Bitcoin is more than just a currency tool. I have never really used Bitcoin much as currency, so the current fees are not at all affacting me personally. I use Bitcoin for trading purposes, and as store of value. I don't see how just one single aspect is ruining everything for you, where you discard Bitcoin's other more than useful features. If you want ultra fast confirming transactions and flashy wallets, then there are several altcoins that do pretty well in that regard. No one forces you to use Bitcoin to transact with others.
6913  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or gold? on: February 19, 2017, 01:44:33 PM
I would never 100% trust that my Bitcoin would be safe because it's a bit harder to secure

Bitcoin can be as securely stored as you want. If you want the best security, then you can opt to choose for something like a hardware wallet. In case of the trezor hardware wallet, even if you happen to make use of it through an infected pc, then it will still guarantee that your security can't be breached. This will make sure that only YOU will have access to your coins, and not a hacker.

gold can be kept in a safe or something like that.

That's not really a good argument. There are plenty of examples of how a safe can be opened with the right tools. It will only cost them a certain amount of time depending on how the safe is engineered. Plus it's an obvious object that stands out and screams 'Hey! Here am I!!'.
6914  Other / Off-topic / Re: How are you earning BTC? on: February 19, 2017, 01:16:51 PM
I have different strategies like playing video games, faucet calm, playing poker, buying lotto tickets, buying sportbetting tickets which gives me the biggest profit from all my strategies.

I don't think it's appropriate to talk about earning strategies when it comes to the types of gambling related options you seem to make use of. You can't rely on them when it comes to earning money, because at the same time, you risk losing money with a much higher probability. If you take these gambling options away, then only your video games (I assume they are Bitcoin related games that allow you to earn satoshi's), and the faucet is something that guarantees you at least some sort of income. Just out of curiosity, how much do the latter two mentioned options generate you per day or per week?
6915  Economy / Speculation / Re: if the price of bitcoin has reached $ 2k? on: February 19, 2017, 12:54:46 PM
I just cash out some profits, but that's really it. I am not in the game to get rid of my precious coins because the price has gone up. I am here for the very long term. By the time we reach $2000 it won't be that special anymore. It's basically the same as when we reached the $1000 level. At first it was cool and exciting, but right now it's a normal price level for me. I have been through plenty of 100% increases in Bitcoin, so the $2000 level will be one of the plenty.
6916  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: individual Transaction sizes have been big today! on: February 19, 2017, 12:41:35 PM
It's due to pools paying out their miners, where they prioritize these payouts to their miners over the regular transactions. Nothing really special about it. Just look at this transaction -> fac94e5fbcd7b50e6e82668eb6c599fb0723e7cd1d136422121a5d33d9a8bc75 It has no fee included because the pool in question takes care of making sure it gets confirmed.
6917  Economy / Economics / Re: Passive Income on: February 19, 2017, 12:07:46 AM
I think to own passive income we need big capital or skill.

Not really. I personally started out by having a few sites set up that would solely function as ad money generating sites, which I connected to a few solid domains of mine. Sites were generating like $5-$10 per month in revenue per site, which isn't impressive at all, but at least it's money that's flowing into my pockets without any effort. Right now I am still having certain sites running for that purpose, but what gets me more passive income is that I allow people to rent certain domains I have. In the last 6 months, this form of passive income has brought me an average of $175 per month.
6918  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitCoin 20 Years From Now on: February 18, 2017, 02:38:01 PM
i think after 20 years people will be using bitcoin in their local shops for shopping.

It's already not interesting anymore to use Bitcoin as local currency for buying your daily needs. Imagine how that will be after 20 years, where pools more than ever will rely on the income through fees. Bitcoin as local currency has always been a fantasy for the majority of the people, and it will remain exactly that. Nothing wrong with just sticking to fiat for your daily needs. Especially when you look at how fiat related payment infrastructures have been improved dramatically.
6919  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin better or paypal? on: February 18, 2017, 02:24:59 PM
although paypal is providing their service, but still their service is not available everywhere. bitcoin is still very new but its service is still available everywhere. bitcoin is a unversal currency and is becoming more and more popular as time pass and hope that it will provide more facilities to as in future.

You have to look at PayPal from this point (the point of how average people use PayPal) -> What is PayPal being used for most of the times? Purchasing goods due to it's near global adoption. Why do they prefer PayPal beside its near global adoption? It's buyers protection. It's an incredibly powerful combination that will make sure PayPal keeps growing when it comes to the number of active users they have. Bitcoin will grow as well, but more in other aspects than just being a currency.
6920  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: When do you plan to sell? on: February 18, 2017, 11:18:20 AM
I will sell all my bitcoin if the price will reach 1,500$ that is my target price and after that i will just save my money and wait for the next dump to grab great buy opportunity and i will sell it for another high price. Simple money making strategy Roll Eyes.

And when the price keeps rushing up further to levels far above $2000? Then what? People that are selling all their coins at once have never been fully satisfied with their actions. Point is that you must utilize Bitcoin's upwards potential to the fullest. It doesn't mean you shouldn't be cashing out profits, but at the time you do cash out profits, do it with small percentages. If the price happens to increase further, you can simply cash out another chunk of your stash. If you sold all your coins at once, you wouldn't be able to scoop up these extra profits.
