6921  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ranking up is possible! 2900 Merits earned in less than 12 months! My 11 Hints! on: November 24, 2021, 09:41:06 AM
What else remain here to teach newbies, members have links for everything all teachings are already done I dont think anything left to share.
You just explained the work of teachers and professors and how useless it is if you think about. A teacher explains the same things every year until it's time to retire because every year he/she gets new pupils. The teacher doesn't say I have already spoken about that in the last 25 years, but does it over and over again. I understand that it's hard to find new and unique things to discuss, but you can try. Even though the basics have been explained numerous times, you still have people who lose their seeds, don't know how to create a wallet, or download fake phishing software. Learn how to do it properly and point out the mistakes they are making.

I did lot of quality and knowledgable postings and no one give merits for that there is some other secret behind merits.
Sorry, but I disagree. I remember you from Ratimov's Help newbies and those who have a little left to the next rank thread where you applied to have your post checked. I told you there that it's full of one and two-liners without much effort shown. I did find one post that I merited that had some interesting ideas. Hopefully you can start writing some more.

I found some people with too much merits and some are not getting even what's required we should equalise all this stuff.
You have equal opportunities as those people to get merited, and that's the only thing that matters. Everything else depends on the efforts you put in.

If there is activity noticed it should be merited if it qualifies certain level. I found some members have more than 500 activity and are newbies which shows something is not working appropriately.
There are members who have over 1000 activity points without merits as well. Why? Because all they do is bounty hunting, posting social media reports, and spamming the forum. The system works just fine. They aren't improving the forum quality in any way and they are not getting any merits because of that.

BTW Your writing skills are impressive and I like the way OP is created.
There you go. Do you now see the difference between fillippone's post in OP and those that you make? Why don't you try to make something like that? You can complain that the system doesn't work if you had a thread similar to fillippone's that goes unmerited.

The thing is, if you compare their rates to one of their competitors, Changelly, you don't see such extreme differences.

ChangeNow:
For 0.0016 BTC (1 BTC ~ 40.272 USDT) you can get only 64 USDT.
Changelly:
For 0.0016 BTC (1 BTC ~ 56.662 USDT) you can get 90 USDT.

But even with bigger amounts, Changelly provides better rates:

ChangeNow:
For 1 BTC (1 BTC ~ 56.263) you can get only 56.263 USDT.
Changelly:
For 1 BTC (1 BTC ~ 56.681) you can get 56.540 USDT.

They are clearly doing many things wrong.

Being fully licensed with Curaçao determines which countries players are allowed to play from and which countries are restricted.

When a player registers, the account notes the players IP address, informing where the player’s from. The player needs to follow the verification process, including residency etc. All in line with standard protocol to ensure we’re abiding by Curaçao’s laws.
The thing is, many Curacao licensed gaming platforms don't require all of their players to undergo KYC. But you do. And those other sites also comply with the license agreements and request identity verification only if they believe someone is abusing the system, using multiple accounts, or is flagged for some other reason.

Anyway, it looks good on the first impression. I will register tonight and check out since you are not anymore requiring a phone number to register.
They are not asking for it for account registrations, but you won't be allowed to deposit or withdraw without completing your identity verification. That also includes submitting a valid phone number. Click on wallet and go to the deposit or withdrawal tab and the site will redirect you to your profile with a message telling you to provide all your personal details first.
6924  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Instant Exchange VS a CEX: Who Wins? on: November 23, 2021, 04:41:40 PM
But that's the point of testing, right?
To find out what to do and what definitely not to do.
OK, fair enough.
I decided to try it out myself and the rates are equally catastrophic as the ones you were offered.

And it's not that poeple can always choose what to use, if you get from somebody ERC-20 you need to exchange them, right?
In such a scenario, they would not have any other choice, yes. I was thinking more in the direction of someone purchasing or exchanging another asset for USDT while neglecting the part you brought up.

And now for the absolutely "fee-less" rates you would get on ChangeNow when you swap BTC for ETH. Pay attention to the smallest amount on the right! Do you know if anyone has asked ChangeNow about these rates they are offering and how to they respond and explain themselves?

6925  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Problem: No seed, no 2fa, with password and access. on: November 23, 2021, 04:26:46 PM
Agreed, you just said that “It prevents one person from spending without the permission from the other”. All I'm saying is that one of those is the owner, so the other has an advantage of cheating since they never had that money before.
Such a multisig could be used in a small company for example where you have two people with equal rights on the company revenues, for example. But I personally don't like a 2of2 multisig at all. That was a reply to pooya87 who mentioned the 2of2 setup. In that particular multisig, one person can't do anything without the signature of the other person as well. Whether or not the 2nd party doesn't want to sign the transaction on purpose, losses his keys, or dies without leaving a copy somewhere, the funds are effectively lost.
6926  Economy / Gambling / Re: 💃 SlotVibe 💃 A FIESTA you can never FORGETTA // VIP Program 🏆 3500+ games ✅ on: November 23, 2021, 10:21:46 AM
...but it there should be an option to verify or do KYC like when you win a big amount or your account or suspect, or they should randomly pick people to do KYC, but here you have to verify right away when you register.
That's even worse if they did it like that. If you know that you have to do KYC to play on the platform, you have a choice: You either comply and do it, or you go and play somewhere else. If you are only asking those who win to undergo KYC, it's just bad practice. It shows that you don't care where the player is from as long as he losses, but if he wins, you will try to find a reason not to pay out his winnings.

The link to our curacao license is in the website footer Smiley
Yes, I see it now, thanks.
Guys, if you are using an ad blocker, you need to temporarily disable it or use a browser where there isn't one installed. The license is located on the left side of the copyright information.

This is the one.
6927  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Problem: No seed, no 2fa, with password and access. on: November 23, 2021, 10:10:36 AM
It's not that I agree on this 2FA idea, but it's far from a typical bank.
I see that my comparison between TrustedCoin's 2FA feature and a bank might not have been the best and smartest move. The comparison was not meant to be in terms of custody of the funds, but rather in the fact that you are paying them (the third party).

But, the one who loses is the user if no one cooperates.
In my country, or more precisely in the whole of ex-Yugoslavia, we have a saying: Neka komšiji crkne krava. A rough translation would be "let the neighbor's cow die". It's meant to show that even if an event affects me personally, I don't care as long as it affects my neighbor as well (who I hate or who I am jealous of). In this example with the cow, even if I buy a bottle of milk every morning from my neighbor, I wish that his cow died. I won't be getting my fresh bottle of milk and have to buy if from somewhere else, but at least he will have a harder time than me.

You can apply the same "logic" in this situation with the coins stuck in a 2FA wallet. Sure, I will lose if I don't sign that transaction and release the funds, but screw you, so will you. You never know what screws someone has loose in his head.
6928  Other / Meta / Re: Forum PM Privacy on: November 23, 2021, 09:54:36 AM
A personal message is sent directly to a specific person, while a personal message is sent and is intended to be private.
I assume this is a typo and you wanted to say that "a private message is sent and is intended to be private."
They are both sent to a specific person unless you include additional users. They are both a private means of communication up to the point that someone makes them public.

There is no expectation of privacy for a personal message. It would be similar to tagging a particular person in a message. The forum will not proactively disclose the message, but either party could potentially disclose the content.

A private message on the other hand has the expectation of privacy.
An expectation is just you believing that something will or will not happen. You expect and believe that a privately/personally sent message is supposed to stay private. They don't have to. They are private and personnel until someone makes them public.

Private or personnel message is just a name for the forum messaging feature. I would agree with you if the forum had both private and personnel messages. In that case, we would need a way to distinguish those two.
What if the on-forum messages were called Bitcointalk forum messages without mentioning the terms private or personnel? How are we supposed to look at them then?

Btw, you have used USDT on Tron, try with USDT eth..  Grin
The Ethereum network requires ridiculously high fees, so that's just one small part of the problem. I am not going to try the Ethereum network for USDT because I see no reason to use that or the Omni Layer for USDT when you can get the same asset on Tron with significantly lower fees.

I just tried to recreate what you did on the BTC - USDT (TRC-20) pair, and here are the results:

The rates are different but the gaps aren't as big as you got them. Maybe if I tried it with the ERC-20 version of Tether I would get the same as you. But like I said, if I don't have to, I see no reason to use a network that is more expansive for the exact same thing.

You don't start a new job in a brand-new industry and ask why you can't be the CEO or have the authorization and salary of the CEO. You start at the bottom, maybe as an intern, and you slowly work your way to the top as you learn the ins and outs and gain experience.

There are so many positive examples of members registering here, starting from scratch, and growing their accounts to the highest ranks. We have examples of members having merits fitting for a hero or a legendary, but the activity points of a member or sr. member. So the system works.

@SlotVibe
Where is your license? Your OP claims that the casino is licensed and certified. Can you post some proof to confirm that?

I want to register, but usually as a casino promotion, it's often common and common with a signup bonus, but unfortunately I can't find it here on the site.
They have a welcome bonus for new players. You can see the offer and Bonu T&C here. If you are interested in the Bitcoin bonus, they claim to give a bonus of up to 1 BTC + 150 free spins.

unfortunately, I can't open this site without using a VPN, is it safe and doesn't violate the TOS?
Their TOS state that you are not allowed to use VPNs.

Using VPN to bypass provider’s block is strictly prohibited and may lead to confiscation of winnings.

Let's say I only have 1 computer and I can't use an offline device for signing my transactions.
In the case I use a 2 of 3 multi-signature wallet, two of master private keys and a master public key have to touch the internet. These keys are enough for a hacker
In the case I use a 2FA wallet, one master private key and two master public keys touch the internet. These keys aren't enough for a hacker.
Yes, but you are forgetting the recovery phrase. If that one computer you are creating your Electrum 2FA wallet on is compromised with some kind of malware, that same hacker you mentioned in your examples above could get access to your recovery phrase. The seed alone is enough for that person to recover the wallet on his own, deactivate the 2FA feature, and steal your coins.

Are we talking about rates of a few seconds/minutes apart or what happened here? How much time passed between those different offers when you took the screenshots? Try activating fixed rates by clicking on the padlock icon. Maybe that will fix things. But even with that enabled, those are extreme differences!

It really isn't rocket science. This is a bitcoin forum. Its main topics of discussion is Bitcoin and its underlying technology. To participate in such discussions, you obviously need to have an interest in crypto, be willing to read and learn about it. As your knowledge gradually increases, you share what you learned by answering questions of other newbies, creating your own threads, or offering various services related to bitcoin.

Click on the home button, go from top to bottom, read the descriptions underneath each sub-board, and start reading what you think is interesting. That will also give you an idea of how a good post should look and what spam is.
6935  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Human lost of memory on: November 22, 2021, 10:54:03 AM
The next step up is to use a system where you split your seed phrase up in to multiple shares and hand them out to multiple people. Then if two, three, five, whatever of those people come together, they can recreate your seed phrase and access your coins.
But only if those shares you hand out aren't the only available copies of the seed. If the people you give them to are as clumsy as my sister, you are safer sticking the seed to the back of a bus. So far she has lost her engagement ring, one golden earring, and misplaced various important documents like the rental lease agreement for her home.

There are also custodial services which you can pay to do this for you, but all require a fee and all require trust.
And there is no guarantee that that they will even be around in 10 or 20 years when you die.

Training your children enough to know what seed phrase is, know all about ways to recover and use bitcoin, make sure you do not hide this from them in a way if anything happens they will be able to locate your seed phrase to recover the bitcoin.
It depends on the age of the child and its maturity. Do you really want your 14-year old teenage daughter telling her friends how she has the best dad in the world because he has accumulated 10 Bitcoin for her in a crowded shopping mall?

Created a new poll: Would you like to see this topic among the pinned ones?
I voted yes and I think it really should be. I am not sure if there is a limit to the number of pinned threads in a sub because Beginners & Help do have a lot.
One of them is Verifying Bitcoin Core by theymos. Good and informative thread and nothing wrong with it, but I think it's more suited for the Wallet software child board of Development & Technical Discussion. Your average newbie doesn't use Bitcoin Core or runs a full node. The percentage of those who verify the software is even lower.

He can create his own 2FA setup if that's what he wants to do. I don't think he needs to pay someone else (Trustedcoin) for something that can essentially be free. But like you said, if he doesn't mind giving them a cut, neither do I.

Even in 2of2 designs the user still has half the control.
He does but he can't do anything with that 50% and neither can the other party. He would still need permission/signature from the 2nd cosigner to spend the coins from a 2of2 multisig. It isn't ideal for either sides. It prevents one person from spending without the permission from the other, but it also gives one party the power from never releasing that money.
6938  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Instant Exchange VS a CEX: Who Wins? on: November 22, 2021, 10:05:25 AM
Have you tried having experimented with this wallet app what is the result?  How much the fee will have cost if we compared to Binance since they have used 3 different swap exchanges like Changelly, Coinswitch, and Totle.
With the ones available in Coinomi? No I honestly never thought about doing that so I have no experience to share on the matter.

<Snip>
I never used Sideshift but I was curious to see how it could perform against ChangeNow so I took a quick look at it.

When you exchange a small amount of BTC with ETH, Sideshift offers better rates than ChangeNow.
But when I tried swapping 1 ETH for BTC, ChangeNow was the one with better rates.
You can see what I was offered in the two screenshots below.
I guess the best thing to do if you really want to use an instant exchange is to take a look at BestChange to find the platform with the best rates for your trading pair at that time. Assuming they actually do that without adding a premium for the service. That might be something I could check out in the future.

6939  Economy / Gambling / Re: Free bet in bitcoin sportbooks on: November 21, 2021, 08:34:59 PM
There's also that one sportsbook that offers a faucet I think their site is called betja but I haven't tried them yet though.
Yes, it's betja.com. They have an hourly faucet of 0.000001 BTC and that is also their minimum wager. You can claim the faucet every hour but you need to play with the coins and stake them on events with minimum odds of 1.40 or higher. Their only requirement to withdraw the winnings is to make a deposit and to bet the deposited amount on an event with the same minimum odds that I mentioned before.

1. Asic Miner
Another correct guess by you in this round. Nice work!

1. Shit hands
Hahaha, I had to laugh on this one Grin.
I assure you that I wont be using terms like shit hands or cunt face in this game.

4. distributed system
Correct!

4. deflation elliptic
Keep in mind that if it's two words, it has to make sense. Not just any two words that fit even if both belong to the crypto jargon such as deflation or elliptic.

Round #8 is not official over!
Two more to come...
