6921  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What is best PoS coin to invest into right now? on: May 25, 2019, 02:16:15 AM
1337 or now rebranded have pitiful stake rate with a high inflation rate.
Jesus, I haven't heard 1337 mentioned...well, ever.  I only ever saw it on Yobit as a giveaway coin that basically had no value if I remember correctly.  I wouldn't bet money on it making a comeback, as it never had any success to begin with.

This thread is obviously old, but I've gotten very interested in PoS coins and staking.  Everyone has their own favorite coins, but I'm sticking with PIVX and doing a little experiment with RDD, which is a coin that I've slammed hard in the past.  I'm just curious as to how much I can actually earn with it, so I bought some and am staking it.  My "interest-earning" coin is NEO, and the Neon wallet is one of the best I've seen yet.

I'm kind of surprised that PoS coins don't get more attention than they do.  I really don't understand the technical aspects of them and am probably very ignorant as to the drawbacks.  But I've earned more PIVX in a month than I expected to, and of course NEO pays out constantly.  It's all pretty fascinating stuff to me.
6922  Economy / Currency exchange / [N] 0.01 btc [H] PayPal preev 1:1 on: May 24, 2019, 08:59:48 PM
As stated in the title, I need 0.01BTC at preev 1:1, which right now would be $81.13.  I can adjust the amount I'm offering if the rate changes.

I will not send first unless you have significant green trust or if I've done business with you before.

This will be a neutral feedback transaction.

Send me a PM if you're willing to help me out, as I might miss seeing this thread if you post here.

Local rule:  Please do not post here unless you're interested in doing this deal.  PayPal is very risky because of the chance of chargebacks, but I have never done this and won't ever.  Also, I won't deal with anyone under Full Member unless they're willing to send first.

Thanks.

Edit:  Deal done with Wapinter, so thanks to him and I'm going to lock this thread.
6923  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Robinhood Crypto Launches in New York on: May 24, 2019, 08:37:29 PM
People who are going to trade on Robinhood would most likely not care about fundamentals and crypto-politics anyway.
That might be true, but it's also true about investors who use other exchanges, don't you think?

Anyway, I created a Robinhood account a couple of weeks ago with the enticement of getting a free share of stock (I got a stinker: Zynga), and it looks like a pretty neat little exchange.  When I joined, there was no option for bitcoin other than watching it, but I just logged in a minute ago after seeing this thread and now I can actually buy it.  With fiat!!

I'm not kidding, this is exciting for me.  I wrote so many times how much I missed Circle and how easy it was to buy bitcoin with cash.  Coinbase isn't an option since they're cocksuckers and deleted my account, and I haven't found any service for fiat-->btc transactions that aren't sketchy.  Good times, fellas.

Edit:

LOL.  FFS, no option to withdraw bitcoin from Robinhood, just buy or sell.  So I take what I said above back: people will be buying crypto on Robinhood just to speculate on it.  That's not necessarily a bad thing, though.
6924  Economy / Reputation / Re: Someone is selling green rating (DT) on: May 24, 2019, 07:04:01 PM
I don't. I'm half tempted to create an alt and try buying it but it's most likely a scam anyway.
This post is as far as I've read in this thread, but I looked at the reference one and I'd say it's 99.99% likely it's just some scammer making an offer to fleece some sucker desperate for green trust.

He quickly got negged to hell, but I added one more just to be a mean bastard.  Hopefully nobody actually falls for this and sends this dumb fuck any money.
6925  Economy / Speculation / Re: Btc fork crack smokers on: May 24, 2019, 05:53:39 PM
BCH is currently the 4th ranked crypto, you must consider everything a shitcoin then?
Bitcoin Cash certainly has its uses--most of the merchants I've used to buy things accept both BTC and BCH, and that's actually kind of surprising to me.  Usually it's only bitcoin and rarely LTC or even ETH.

The market for BCH at least is speaking for itself.  It's not like 1 BCH is worth pennies.  The rest of the fork coins are not faring so well, and that's to be expected.  How many bitcoin-forked coins can anyone possibly be interested in?  In any case, my heart is with bitcoin and not with BCH or any of the other forked monstrosities.  I do like some alts that aren't bitcoin forks, but that's about it--and there aren't many I'm truly interested in.

Almost every altcoin created has that aim to be the next big thing and the one who will dethrone bitcoin for good
Agreed (to an extent), which is why there's so much junk on the market.  Another reason that exchanges like Yobit have so many coins selling for 1 satoshi is that the devs of those coins wanted to make a quick profit for themselves.  They didn't think they were innovating or improving on bitcoin or any other coin, regardless of whatever their whitepapers said.  Most of them should be delisted from every exchange they trade on.
6926  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BitPay no longer serving banned countries on: May 24, 2019, 04:52:30 PM
This sucks.  True, bitcoin can't be controlled....but it sort of can, and this is one example of how.

I'm a very tech-illiterate guy, but I know what a VPN is and I've recently thought about using one in order to use services like ShapeShift, which doesn't let US residents use their service.  I have a feeling this BitPay thing is not going to be the end of it, either.

By the way, I do not like to use BitPay. I feel like it's following paypal business model.
Like it or not, sometimes you have no choice.
6927  Other / Meta / Re: A long rambling post about trust on: May 24, 2019, 04:24:55 PM
IMO, it's the person that can be trusted and not the item he's selling you.  I have 100% positive feedback on eBay, and yet I once sold a vinyl record that was actually a reissue rather than an original pressing--and it was because of my own ignorance.  But once the buyer got in touch with me and pointed out how he knew it was a reissue, I not only refunded him his money but didn't ask him to send the record back, and I apologized for my error profusely and sincerely.

There are some people who wouldn't deal with a situation like that, and I'm not tooting my own horn here, because I screwed that one up royally.  It's true that I might trust a member to do a deal for some PayPal on the forum but not necessarily trust him to sell me an item he's not a specialist in....but that doesn't mean I don't trust him overall.  So that kind of member I would include in my trust list and/or give a positive feedback to upon successful completion of a deal.
6928  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance Withdrawals and deposits on: May 23, 2019, 12:57:48 PM
Happy to see binance is still one of the best exchanges out there.
Yeah, I'm actually glad they didn't get hit harder than they did and that they're still up and running.  Deposits and withdrawals (as I'm sure you know) were suspended for a week, and I was a bit anxious to put it mildly.  I had some bitcoin on there that I had deposited literally hours before they suspended everything, and I wasn't sure I'd ever see it again.  With the history of what happens to exchanges after they get hacked--or when they claim they got hacked--there was no way to tell if they'd continue business as usual.

So yeah, I'm now more confident than ever that Binance is the real deal and I've done a handful of trades with them since they resumed their normal functions.

Users here share their experiences very quickly   Cheesy
That's to be expected.  Binance is an extremely popular exchange and a lot of people from the forum trade on it.
6929  Other / Off-topic / Re: Looking to be mertied? Come here on: May 23, 2019, 01:37:33 AM
Killyou72, I'm not going to hijack your thread, but I just wanted to say I'm going to keep an eye on it.  I'm having a hard time finding posts worthy of merits.  Everything I read lately seems to be in broken English and with the typical bounty shitposting style and content.  It's very frustrating.

Good luck with this, too, because other members have tried offering merits like this and members tend to link to really garbage posts or to a recent post made specifically to earn merit from an offer like this.  So just be careful.

Either you didnt read my 3 rules or you don't care. I cannot give someone merit who cannot read and write. Reading really is just as important as writing.
Yep, this thread is going exactly as I figured it would.
6930  Other / Meta / Re: [UNBAN APPEAL] hasyurt on: May 23, 2019, 01:02:15 AM
I'm 39 and I'm a math teacher. I didn't fall to steal the labor of the other.
I just have to ask: being a math teacher at age 39, presumably you've been doing it for a while and aren't living below the poverty line regardless of your country--what the hell are you doing here participating in these shitty airdrops?  I can totally understand having an interest in crypto given your stated profession, but those airdrops are for suckers who likely eat out of dumpsters.

And then copy/pasting on top of all that.  What's up with that?  Your English isn't good, but as an academic you really ought to know that plagiarism isn't cool.

At least there are still 5 more accounts that can operate in the forum.
And then there's this BS.  Somehow I get the feeling you're not what you claim to be.
6931  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: When will Altcoins come out of the Bear Market? on: May 22, 2019, 10:05:59 PM
If there is a bitcoin bull run then obviously altcoins don't go up at the same time however when bitcoin has a pullback in price then do altcoins shine
I'm not a crypto analyst, but I've been watching the market for a few years now, and to my eyes there does seem to be the kind of pattern you described.  I've always assumed that since there is a finite amount of money being invested in the entire crypto market, sometimes it gets a bit lopsided--like right now it looks like most of the money is going toward bitcoin, which is boosting its price.

And yeah, I think altcoins will catch fire again, and for some reason I think it'll probably be soon.  I also hate to admit this since I'm a huge supporter of bitcoin, but lately I've been trading my bitcoin for some altcoins that I can stake for interest/dividends.  The prices seem very low, and bitcoin's price is sky high, so I figure it might be a good buying opportunity right now.

6932  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Bestmixer sig campaign possible scam on: May 22, 2019, 05:14:10 PM
Scam is a word overused and I think some people use it without understand correctly the meaning
Most idiots on this forum don't know 90% of words in English, so no shocker here.

I'm a bit blown away by this--not just the campaign being shut down but Bestmixer itself.  I'm assuming that running a mixing service isn't in itself illegal in the Netherlands or Germany (wherever Bestmixer operated out of), else they would have shut it down much sooner.  I'm wondering if the police had specific information about money laundering going on.  Anyway, that's a bit off-topic.

As to the OP, he's blowing smoke up everybody's bunghole.  If Hhampuz is managing the campaign, everyone will get paid assuming Bestmixer has given him the funds to do so.  The campaign isn't a scam, nor are the campaign participants scammers.  This is a nonsense thread.
6933  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BestMixer is gone? on: May 22, 2019, 03:07:47 PM
Holy crap.  I'm not familiar with Bestmixer's business at all--does anyone know what country they operated out of?  Why would their site get seized?  Mixing coins isn't a crime, right?

Ah, thank you.  So I guess there were laws in place that Bestmixer somehow violated.  I wonder if this is going to be contested and if it'll set a precedent in other countries and for other mixing services.
6934  Economy / Economics / Re: The Fed Never Calls The Bubble A Bubble... Why Not? on: May 22, 2019, 12:20:48 PM
If you're referring to things like stock market bubbles, the government has a long-standing history of not mentioning that dirty word bubble or any of its synonyms.  This isn't surprising, either.  Can you imagine the panic selling that would ensue if the Fed or any other branch of the government declared that stocks were overvalued to the point of being in bubble territory?  Do you think any government official, elected or not, would want to take responsibility for that?

Alan Greenspan probably was the only one with balls enough to call the market as he saw it in 1996.  He made a speech, in part of which he said:
Quote
But how do we know when irrational exuberance has unduly escalated asset values, which then become subject to unexpected and prolonged contractions as they have in Japan over the past decade?
*source*

He knew that stocks had become inflated to the point that they were severely overvalued, and the media latched onto that phrase "irrational exuberance".  Greenspan may as well have called the market a bubble, but he didn't--he likely knew the selling stampede that would inevitably follow.

So that's why you won't hear the Fed talking about bubbles.  On the other hand, I don't think the stock market is in a bubble right now, or at least it hasn't gotten to the point of insanity that it reached in 2000 right before the big crash (or 1929 or any other crash).
6935  Other / Meta / Re: [Ban Appeal] bill gator on: May 22, 2019, 11:04:31 AM
This would lead me to believe the mods are *not* telling those who are banned which of their posts were found to be plagiarized.
I highly doubt anyone is being told which posts they plagiarized--but that's always the way it's worked.  When someone opens a ban appeal thread, only then does someone do the research and come up with an example or multiple examples.

With all of these bans of old and/or respected members, I think it would be a good idea to let them (and anyone else getting banned) know exactly what they did wrong.  I've made that argument before in the context of writing posts about being sick and tired of all the ban appeal threads where the banned members claim ignorance of their offense (and usually their accounts aren't that old).  Obviously nothing changed, and I'm sure there are reasons for why nothing did, but I've no idea what they are.

The other sex is stupid, and I don't trust them for taking important decision in a short time.Their hormones makes them too emotional.
LOL. The offensiveness and anti-PCness is just juicy.
6936  Other / Meta / Re: Legendary account banned on: May 22, 2019, 10:41:33 AM
This new plagiarism bot is too aggressive. It should go back 2 or 3 years at the very most. Busting somebody for a "crime" committed in 2015 seems too harsh. Somebody needs to dial it back a bit.
I don't know if I agree with that or not right now, but I'm absolutely blown away by the extent of plagiarism here.  But I certainly get that there is a difference between someone who might have done it once or twice years ago and someone who consistently employs it as a method to earn money through sig campaigns because they can't write English.  Plagiarism is wrong, but the punishment should fit the crime, and maybe there should be a statute of limitation here.  I'll have to think about it after I wake up and drink my coffee.

You have been permanently banned by a forum moderator, probably due to spam or plagiarism."
Permaban, eh?  Wow.  I know you were on DT and I respect that and actually feel bad about this.
6937  Other / Meta / Re: @THEYMOS Abusive group punished DT1 for speaking up against them on: May 22, 2019, 10:33:09 AM
It's embarrassing, you guys deserve full happy lives that don't around and old forum about a magic coin created by an anime character.
You've been gone for quite some time now if I'm not mistaken, so you must have missed all of this drama being not only created but perpetuated by Thule and his gang of annoying, anti-DT, anti-trust system, anti-everything trolls.  You probably feel like it would be a waste of your time, but there might be some entertaining reading if you look at some Meta threads since at least December of last year.  Yeah, it's been going on for that long.

Respect yourselves
Madonna, Janet Jackson, and NWA would be proud of you. Smiley

Now that same group (i guess suchmoon) digged into his history and found a plagiarism
I'd like to reiterate someone else's post that bill gator most likely got caught up in the same plagiarism sting operation as everyone else, and it's not likely he was targeted.  This is just you pressing your agenda once again with assertions that you have no evidence for.  I do believe your posse really likes evidence and proof, right?  Well, show me proof of who turned in bill gator for plagiarism or STFU.

@thule. So much horseshit in your OP as always. The only abuse is us having to read your threads
Oh lordy, give that +1 until you reach the end of infinity.

6938  Other / Meta / Re: [Ban Appeal] bill gator on: May 21, 2019, 09:14:43 PM
I'm waiting for the troll posse to start with the "why isn't bill gator not tagged for buying his account?" posts.
say what?
I wrote that before I realized that bill gator got mega-negged just now.

If anyone counters, I'll counter the counter: Say no to account dealers. To make matters worse, it was bought primarily for shitposting which he has been doing. No thanks.
You know I say no to account dealers, but I said months ago after the iluvbitcoins debacle that I would only be tagging them from then on, with no exceptions for mitigating circumstances--and I'm sticking to that.  Of course I respect your opinion and I'm not going to counter any feedback, which I've previously said I'm not a fan of anyway.

As far as the shitposting goes, I haven't taken a look at bg's post history but he got accepted into the Chipmixer campaign, so the quality of his posts can't be that bad.  I certainly know he can write coherently and isn't a typical sig spammer by any means.
6939  Other / Meta / Re: [Ban Appeal] bill gator on: May 21, 2019, 08:50:59 PM
bill gator is an account I bought on November 7th, 2015.
I think I'm having another aTriz nightmare.
Lol.  And I'm waiting for the troll posse to start with the "why isn't bill gator not tagged for buying his account?" posts.  As a preemptive answer, he apparently bought the account before account selling became a sin around here, and I'm definitely not going to give him a neg for it.  Nor am I going to remove him from my trust list for that or for the plagiarism, which he (the current owner) likely didn't do.

If the plagiarism in question really is the post from 2015, I do hope bill gator can successfully appeal this ban.  I think he's a good member here, even if others might not agree with some of his opinions or with my assessment of him.  I've had financial transactions with him where he's been trustworthy and personal conversations with him which have demonstrated his likeable personality.  Those are traits in short supply on bitcointalk, and I'd hate to see members like him get punished for something the previous owner of the account did.

Fucking slippery prick buying an account
That was 2015, dude.  The account buying problem was nowhere near as bad as it has since become, and account dealers didn't start getting tagged until 2016.
6940  Economy / Reputation / Re: DT Members with Sig bans. on: May 21, 2019, 07:40:31 PM
Is it acceptable? should we be excluding for this?
Yeah, I'd say it's acceptable.  I trust people in real life who are far from saints and who've done things much worse than plagiarism.  And although it's generally accepted on this forum that copy/pasting someone else's words is wrong, remember that there are members here from all over the world, and in some of those places it isn't considered wrong.  True, they should have read the rules before doing it, but we all know many people don't.  So I wouldn't have a problem having someone in my trust list who got busted for plagiarism.  It's wrong, but it's not the worst offense in the world and doesn't mean a person can't otherwise be trusted.

Most of recent plagiarism ban happening due to their past mistake.
This is my understanding as well.  I can forgive an indiscretion like that if a person hasn't made a habit out of doing it.  They should have known better, but I don't think there are any candidates for sainthood on bitcointalk, even among members of the DT list.

If, for example, Yahoo62278 (I just picked him randomly) was found to have copy/pasted something back in 2015, would I remove him from my trust list?  Absolutely not. And why?  Because there are multiple reasons for which I have him included on my list, and a single act of plagiarism from years ago would not negate them.
