6921  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How would you spend $50k-$60k for mining? on: August 11, 2022, 05:28:52 PM
Purely Interested in what ASICS people would buy and why. Let’s say it’s based on mining on a 3 Phase supply.

Would it be all bitmain s19s & L7s?  Or would you mix it up with Goldshell for KDA and maybe take a risk on E9 for ETC?

Well this is btc only and people frown on discussing other coins in this section.

But

I have

btc asics
ltc/doge asics
gpus

I constantly juggle

debt
gear
coins
cash

and attempt to balance risks that way.

I make less money this way. ie going all in on the right gear at the right time will earn more money than my way.

but I lose less when shit happens. ie going all in on the wrong gear at the wrong time can be crushing.
6922  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is interest pledge trustworthy? on: August 11, 2022, 03:28:32 PM
The platform I use has launched the pledge interest, similar to renting mining machines, with high returns. I am a newbie, I would like to ask is it true that the revenue is 100%?
One more question, why can't I attach pictures Huh

You got a merit from me.

looks like you are fluent in english and chinese

the merit i gave you is to encourage you to continue posting.

People that are fluent in chinese and english are valuable in crytpo you can find work here translating.

you will eran a right to post photos with continued posting.

Aww poor wittle Mr FBI, does he wanna bedtime story instead?
He basically wants to run the FBI as a political mobster group without any scrutiny or pushback?

Why the need for the raid regardless?! Normally from a legal standpoint, you would subpoena a former president if you want them to hand over a document. They couldn't remove him with impeachment and think this is the way to go?
We will see how this unfolds. I have popcorn ready.

FBI director Chris Wray calls death threats against agents 'deplorable and dangerous' in the wake of the agency's raid on ex-President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago home
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11102157/FBI-director-says-death-threats-against-agents-deplorable-dangerous-raid-Trumps-home.html

I guess we can't ALL be an upstanding citizen like Hunter Biden and get away with it. Shame.

back in the sixties the fbi got pushed around by far left radicals quite a bit.

and they basically crushed them in around ten years.

it will be interesting to se how the fbi does with radical far right calling for a civil war.

I see a decade of lots of strife coming up.

make sure to wear your flak jackets 🧥

oh thats right New York outlawed bulletproof vests. what a fucking mess.
6924  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Miners cheating the system to earn more? on: August 11, 2022, 03:17:23 PM

However, the researchers also noted that the vulnerability may be solved after Ethereum transitions to proof-of-stake (POS) after the upcoming Merge on Sept. 19, which utilizes a different set of consensus rules.
"An obvious mitigation technique which will solve both this attack and any other PoW-related one, is to migrate Ethereum’s consensus mechanism to proof-of-stake (PoS)."   Grin
https://cointelegraph.com/news/f2pool-co-founder-responds-to-allegations-it-s-cheating-the-ethereum-pow-system

Everything related to mining will be solved as soon as they move to pos. I wonder how long he has been earning more than any other pool, probably for years, reason that pool always found more blocks than any other one with the same hashrate. This is good, it proves eth devs left ways to cheat the mining system if you wanted to.

i estimate there rewrite back in 2016 cost me 2 coins
and this exploit allowed by eth cost me 4.5 coins

so any time mr vb wants he can the 6.5 eth to me roughly 13000 usd. as of today.

he can send me the coin via pm

if and when he does I will let you all know. if he does not and there ever is a class action this is my notice I would expect 6.5 eth in damages.

6926  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Miners cheating the system to earn less. on: August 10, 2022, 08:26:33 PM
What are your thoughts on this?  Do you think this could have any impact (direct or indirect) on Bitcoin?  https://cryptoslate.com/researchers-say-they-discovered-consensus-level-attack-on-ethereum-miners-cheating-the-system-to-earn-more/

Changed titled . One honest pool F2pool did its best to legally earn as much as possible.

All other pools failed to do it.

Thus if you are like me a miner and used viabtc you may be able to sue viabtc for its failure to legally do what f2 pool did.

I earned over 45 eth from viabtc sounds like they owe me some eth. they failed to code for maximum profits.

nice shit storm here. should be fun to see if class action is taken against lots of pools.

and if those pools in turn sue eth for not closing the loophole.

got to love it.

maybe this will cause eth to halt pos not speed it.

better yet maybe eth will need to reverse pos.

remember eth rewrote the code to capture coins lost back in 2016.

this report..its likely not great...but everyone knows this and I think it mostly priced in
I will have to dissagree with that, if the report is anywhere under 9.1% (which is very probable) then that's good news and the market will recover after.

you were correct....coming in at 8.5% surprised quite a few..myself included

i still think planning on and accepting a 9% loss on your wealth every year is unattainable

bitcoin fixes this

From the first case, the young crocodile was hunted by the giant cat or tiger as the name maybe while the later end from the second clip is the strong crocodile preying on  the young tiger, definitely situations can change all-round, but isn't this in the reality of what we faces as human, the rich and strong stepping on the timid and oppressed ones and feasting on them? All in the name of making a survival.

it is not Tiger. It is a Cheetah. Cheetah is not fighter. Cheetah is fast and hunter but not figher. btw in this video if you look more close Cheetah attention was to cameramen because of that it lost control otherwise croco never able catch a fast cat like cheetah, cats are more clevers than corocos.

In first video above it is Jaguar which is always hunting to crocodiles. Jaguars favorite launch is crocodiles and they manages to hunt even more bigger crocodiles than itself are.

Inflation figures get released and BTC reacts right away once again

Yeah but, more confirmation that Bitcoin is now tied to the stock market melt-up.

A bit sobering if you ask me.

+1 WOsMerit

Actually a mixed investment in USA I bonds and BTC means you get a slight win on inflation if you stay in the 7.5 to 8.5% range.

My wife and I can do 20000 usd at 9.25% rate on I bonds and add 20,000 every year.

the I bonds tie to inflation. So my ‘cash, fiat’ is not dropping against inflation.
plus we hold btc, silve, doge in that order.

These numbers 8.5% work for us. Long term for btc looks rosy.

6929  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The effect of drugs abuse on youths on: August 09, 2022, 08:52:07 PM
Nearly 60% of youths are prone to drug abuse and are been influenced by peers group ,who make them indulge in this act ,this makes the youth have a higher ratio of drug addiction ,this is why they dominate a higher population at the correctional centers facilities, mental homes facilities, prison facilities due to drug influence reaction.
There have been increase in the cases of rape ,robbery ,homocides, depression, suicide, gang fight and this cases have shown a large number of youth engagement in this crimes.
Increase in domestic abuse ,marriages are caused by this drugs influence and anger management problem faced by many of this youths ,both male and female gender.

What can the government, communities and parents do to cure this situation .

Make every drug legal and only sellable at government licensed shops.

Pulls out the criminal profits.

Booze was made illegal in USA in 1920's and 30's
A fucking disaster just made a shit ton of rich violent crooks.

Booze abuse is far lower % wise in the USA today now that it is legal.

With all drugs legal the crime profit goes by by. Violence drops etc.

All other solutions won't work.

With drugs legal every car auto tests its driver to see if they are stoned.

Car accidents drop.

government makes tons of money on drug taxes.

Mob guys have to go back to other crime Ideas maybe hoes gambling and loans.

6930  Other / Meta / Re: Merit source observations on: August 09, 2022, 04:32:42 PM
but the question mark for me is how can they always be active in this forum? do they not have much activity in the real world? Or are they really good at managing time?
It could be any of the things you mentioned or a combination of several factors. You have to understand that not everyone works your standard 8-10 hours a day job, so they have more time during the day than the average person. Depending on where you are in the world and what your financial situation looks like, being active on this forum is a huge deal to some financially. We might have some crypto millionaires among us who no longer have to work at all and their hobby is writing on Bitcointalk. You have freelancers who only work occasionally. You have people who work in sales in certain stores that don't see much activity and they have much time to kill in between serving their customers.

Yeah my work is this forum, Ebay and hunting on a dozen sales sites online.

Plus I blog on two other sites evga.com and macrumors

So I spend 4-10 hours a day online. Along with regular visits to maintain the farm gear.

I am not the only one thats earns online on this website.
6931  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bye-bye to LHR? on: August 09, 2022, 12:46:59 PM
LHR makes no sense anymore for Nvidia so its reasonable that they may remove LHR on their graphic cards for good, right now they might be saying 'why did we even do that in the first place" because honestly they gain nothing out of it but its a good trial.

Good question. They did it to 'show' they cared about gamers.

But behind the scenes they sold like mad to miners. Wink
6932  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin Miners’ Revenue Down Over $100M on: August 09, 2022, 12:41:24 PM
GN Fam. Saw this article a few days ago and wanted to have the input from the BTC mining community, given the electricity costs and the current revenue in the field, are you planning to continue the BTC mining or would you shift your efforts towards another coin?

https://tokenist.com/16-7-drop-in-revenue-and-rising-electricity-cost-trouble-btc-miners/

Good question

I am not a garage miner

We are 4 guys with over 200k in different miners

Our peak earnings last year were 30k a month

We are down to 9k

But we have cheap power and we are getting a 280kwatt solar array on line.

So we will always turn a profit. Barring fires, earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes or theft of the gear.

We mine

BTC
ETH
LTC/DOGE

We also have all gear paid off.
We are not expanding at the moment. Between lower profits and very hot summer we will delay more growth.

6934  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What percentage of people in the USA do you think haven't paid taxes on trades? on: August 09, 2022, 12:33:59 PM
Here is the issue. BTC and crypto mining could be pushed to do this

https://www.nj.com/news/2019/06/six-flags-is-now-one-of-worlds-1st-solar-powered-theme-parks-more-clean-energy-is-on-the-way.html

or this

When the 2017 bill was passed it was a step away from solar and towards coal

BTC in 2012   264 kwatts in 1 day could mine 7 coins

BTC in 2022  1,125,000 Kwatts to mine the same 7 coins.

Coins became costly and greedy shortsighted people acted to alter the taxing system to grab from the industry.

Rather than properly manage the asset and use it to get a lot more parking lots like the photo above.
6935  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: mine a Bitcoin on: August 09, 2022, 12:23:57 PM
so for that 1 btc in 1 year you need maybe 8 machines doing 900 th each.

merely an estimate guess etc but ball park.

Is pretty close to ...

~10 years if you're lucky

... with 1 machine

Glad to see my guesstimation was not that off after all  Tongue

Yep you are close but going out 10 years is a lot.

in 2012 I mined btc with gpus (pre asics) around 40 pieces of them

If I overclock and maxed out all of them I had 22gh out of 22th or 1/1000 of the entire network in my garage I mined 7 coins a day  Grin used about 264 kwatts for that whole day.

today I would need 1,610,000 th or

1610 ph

or

1.610 eh to mine 7 coins in a day
this is  about 16,000 s19's

spend
1125 megawatts to mine the 7 coins. If  all gear were 29 watt a th  s19's

quite a bit of gear growth. Plus power use.

264 kwatts = 7 coins about $2.64 in power
1,125,000 kwatts = 7 coins  about $112,000 in power

there are natural limits to just how much power can be tossed at mining.

Ie going from 264 to 1,125,000 can be done in fact it was done.

going from 1,125,000 Kwatts to 4,794,000,000 Kwatts  is not likely.

but Solar has huge growth commercial Panels now are 21% effective  the best of the best are 37%.  Perfection may be a 48-51% possiblity.

Translation a 400 watt panel may get as good as 800 watts in the future.

So 2x is easy peasy.
How much space for panels. Tons every parking lot in the world from 45 lat south to 45 lat north could have panels.

https://www.nj.com/news/2019/06/six-flags-is-now-one-of-worlds-1st-solar-powered-theme-parks-more-clean-energy-is-on-the-way.html

Every time some one talks about BTC using power just show them this image and tell them instead of governments letting this happen below

6936  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What percentage of people in the USA do you think haven't paid taxes on trades? on: August 09, 2022, 12:00:51 PM
Coming from an IRS family.

Mom worked there 24 years then retired
Wife worked there 33 years then retired
I worked there a year then left

I voted 15%

I report every trade.
In fact I occasionally do losing trades on purpose to balance my cap gains out.

I use coinbase and report.

Why do I do this?

Hmm wife's pension  is federal.
My pensions's are federal.

Our pensions are worth quite a bit.

To buy  the pensions we have at 66+65 years old including the medical would cost over a million bucks.

Lots of actuary math involved to get the 2 million value.

But here goes if you collect 50k in pensions for 20 years that is 1 million

Our ages suggest we would live for 20 more years.

we collect over 50k in pensions and our medical insurance would cost us 1200 a month which is about 300k over next 20 years.

So to not report trades and risk fucking the pensions up is not worth it.

BTW the like kind rule was crushed by Donald Trump and co.

All like kind trades have been removed other than real estate .

Under Obama you could do trade of stock to stock no reporting
and you could do trade of crypto to crypto no reporting.

So if you are USA voter contact your congress man and ask for a definite answer for repealing Donald trump's like kind limits for trading stocks and crypto.

I believe the act came into effect in 2018 but I am 65 and don't remember a lot of shit. Grin

My smerits raise and lower with the amount I send. I have been really tied up for an entire year and have dropped my distribution of merits so I am gaining hoarded merits for last year this definitively lowered my merits awarded.

As for ddmrddmr giving away that many merits that quickly you can if you open a lot of pages and then give the merits.
