6961  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] Group Buy #14 USB Miners 0.110 BTC or less! Shipping to USA addresses on: September 30, 2013, 11:54:51 AM
I was interested in these as handouts/gifts to friends to get them interested in BTC and crypto-currencies, but from what I've heard in the past these run pretty hot.  Are these newest units as hot as the older ones?  Would it be ok if someone who didn't know what they are doing (plug & play as it were) just let it hash away, or is there the potential for the miner to destroy itself or the usb port?

Thanks!

They get hot enough to burn your fingers but do no damage to themselves or the USB port. Plug and play, well almost you have to download the driver, for noobs point them at Bitminter.com as the java client supports them.

6962  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [EU/UK GROUP BUY] Blue Fury USB miner 2.2 - 2.7 GH/s on: September 28, 2013, 08:17:20 AM

I have a total of 6 units ordered. Anybody know what a good USB hub will be to run these on? Also which PSU should I use with the USB hub?

Anyone got some ebay links?  Thanks!

This one is good for 6 and use the 7th to chain. The PSU it comes with is 3A. It's cheaper on Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0002AFZVM/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I think I'll wait until Luke-Jr posts an official version if it's all the same...  Undecided

Yeah I guess so  Cheesy

This massive jump to 149M difficulty...is deeply worrying.

Any updates on the Cgminer compatibility?

When is the next Group buy going to start?
Ckolivas is putting the final touches on drivers etc for cgminer. Should be released soon.

How's Luke-Jr doing with BFG?  I would hate to have to run cgminer just for these, when BFG runs everything else for me so perfectly.

The pool block stats are back working, but my new workers aren't showing and nobody's hash rates and shares are changing in the stats. All workers on the stats page are stuck in place.

Looks like another database issue, read this thread and you'll see that is quite common.
6966  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [EU/UK GROUP BUY] Blue Fury USB miner 2.2 - 2.7 GH/s on: September 25, 2013, 06:38:16 PM
dam have to start looking for a new usb hub now. Any recommendations

The DLINK 7 port router looks like it will hold them.

Been working fine with by ASICMINER doobies

You can always get some usb extension leads and use your existing hub.

What's the difference between red fury and blue fury?

They couldn't red LEDs PCBs so they used blue and changed the name  Lips sealed

Edit: Thanks for the correction Nemo.
6968  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BPMC Launch BF1 USB miner - probably the fastest USB miner in the World on: September 25, 2013, 01:17:56 PM
the reason that people love blocker eruptor so much is because they are easy to use plugin and you can basically hit the button and go this Linux solution is fine for people are in the know but not for the target audience of what this should be. Those windows drivers are imparative to this being successful

6970  Economy / Speculation / Re: What if mining suddenly becomes unprofitable for most miners? on: September 24, 2013, 08:44:49 AM
Difficulty-adjustments will ensure that in the event of miners shutting down the difficulty goes down as well and mining profitability will increase again.

Exactly. Eventually the hardware will catch up with Moore's law and mining will be run by big corporations with access to cheap electricity and large data centres.

Bitcoin's future isn't related to the profitability of miners any more than gold's future is linked the to profitability Goldcorp etc. It is linked to wider adoption and the possibility that something better will come along.

Just curious. Not trying to run off your business or anything. But isn't it cheaper per gh/s to buy asic blades? I know the power consumption will be lower but the asic blades are already pennies a day to run.

Like right now I can get 10.7gh/s for 3.65btc by buying an asic blade.
or I could buy 4 Red Fury USB miners and get 10gh/s for 3.6btc.

But here is the kicker. I can get the asic blade shipped to me in under 3 days and be hashing immediately.
I would have to wait 2+ weeks to receive a Red Fury. We should see asic blades drop below 3btc each within 2 weeks.
Also difficulty of bitcoin will go up quite a bit in 2 weeks. We all know the more time it takes to get an asic the less you will make and the chance of making ROI goes down dramatically.

Its pretty obvious if you are going to be buying mining hardware that you should get an asic blade.

Can anyone counter this argument?

Yes.

If you haven't got 3.65btc then for less that 1btc this is the best you are going to get.

So I signed up just to thank flound for all his hard work on this pool.  I've been following this pool and been a member since its inception.  I constantly see people whining about not getting paid on litecoin when on the multipool cause we don't stick around long enough.  Would it not be a simple thing to just lock the multipool on the coin until we find a block, then carry on with our multipooling?  Same with NVC.  I'm perfectly content with following the pool around but this seems like a guarentee to get paid.  And also opens up the whining for why didn't we switch, coin 12398 was at 15% better profit.  You can't have both people.. Either accept what flounds done or go to another pool that doesn't give you the flexibility to mine what you want here.

Thanks for sharing - it gives exactly the type of information I was suggesting being added to the stats.  It really shows which coins are the stinkers (I'm looking at you GDC), and which appear to have a sizable return (ANC, everytime!).  At first the conversion to uBTC was disliked, but it's grown on me, I'm not having to count zeroes now.

Any plans to add LTC?

The only coins I'd like to keep are DGC, LTC, CGB and FST.

hi

I can not register on your pool (every time i get Password must be between 6 - 20 characters.)

why?

It might be that numbers don't count as characters.
