6961  Economy / Economics / Re: MicroStrategy Buys $250M in Bitcoin, Calling the Crypto ‘Superior to Cash’ on: February 02, 2022, 09:12:10 AM
My bad I was not aware of this update so I created a thread about this development a while ago but have lucked it.
here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5383996.msg59136161#msg59136161
A big surprise!

Quote
On February 1, 2022, MicroStrategy Incorporated (the “Company”) announced that, during the period between December 30, 2021 and January 31, 2022, the Company purchased approximately 660 bitcoins for approximately $25.0 million in cash, at an average price of approximately $37,865 per bitcoin, inclusive of fees and expenses. As of January 31, 2022, the Company held approximately 125,051 bitcoins that were acquired at an aggregate purchase price of $3.78 billion and an average purchase price of approximately $30,200 per bitcoin, inclusive of fees and expenses.

As you can guess from the statement, being only 25 millions, it’s a purchase funded with Microstrategy’s own cash, while the previous buys were funded trough the ATM facility.
This is the reason why I am saying it’s a big surprise…

Great to see that this time the 660 Bitcoin where bought with cash through the SEC approval this speak volume into how dip Bitcoin have attained in global adoption.

6963  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pay for coffee with Bitcoin on: February 02, 2022, 05:52:31 AM
I am curious if you are running your coffee stand using LN or just using on chain transactions. I cant imagine it being very convenient especially for a business to take on chain payments in regards to selling things in person. If you are using on-chain transactions, have you had any impatient customers waiting for the block to be validated? Obviously, you don't have these issues if you are running some sort of lightning service.
The ops have not replied to comments for a while now and many other members have asked similar questions but no answer, I will suggest the ops uses the bitcoin lightning network for faster transaction and low fees aside from LN payment with Bitcoin will still be stressful and costly.
6964  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador 🇸🇻 Bitcoin Adoption I Great future Retrospect. on: February 01, 2022, 04:47:49 PM
El Salvador still believing that bitcoin has a future that's why he wants to push it for long term even despite there are some people who wants to remove bitcoin as a legal tender on their country. For me in my personal opinion perhaps they need to stop begging from IMF and find another ways because its like they cannot do anything or a way to survive. And for sure there's a tends that many people will losing confidence because of the situation if however they don't find a new way to fix the issue. Just saying
India is preparing seriously for cryptocurrency adoption and with the lunch of the digital Rupees some hours ago most of the crypto holders in that country had great relief.
The El Salvador stance on Bitcoin is quite commendable and the IMF is just trying to play politics because El Salvador is presently not economically stable and a young country, but with cryptocurrency adoption, the country will stand a good chance to grow fast.
6965  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / El Salvador 🇸🇻 Bitcoin Adoption I Great future Retrospect. on: February 01, 2022, 10:52:11 AM
Events happening in the world of global financial institutions and countries this week have different views, as many of the US cryptocurrency users await the much-talked cryptocurrency regulatory policy by the SEC by the Biden administration, sometimes around this February. Another recent event is the International Monetary funds a global financial institution have instructed El Salvador to delist Bitcoin as a legal tender, but the El Salvador President in a recent tweet stated how bullish the country is about Bitcoin and have made the stand clear to the (IMF) that the country is not going back on it Bitcoin adoption and this is going to give El Salvador a long-term retrospect on cryptocurrency adoption in the future among other countries If&when Bitcoin eventually gain the mainstream adoption.

6966  Other / Off-topic / WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH 1 BITCOIN on: January 31, 2022, 11:45:21 PM
There is an old adage but very relevant to our contemporary circumstances in the cryptocurrency ecosystem: it goes like this: If you fall to plan you plan to fail, meaning when you failed to prepare for an opportunity before it comes when it comes you will not notice it because it will pass you by. This brings us to the big question,
If you get 1 Bitcoin right away what will you do with it?
This question is targeted at newbies who have constantly felt that they got into the Bitcoin space late because Bitcoin is now very expensive to acquire not like in the early day around 2009/2010 when one can easily get reward with Bitcoin for a little&simple task e.g faucet, but nowadays it costs a fortune just to acquire 1 BTC.
But if you work hard and never spend all you get practice reinvestment as a way of life one can attain that ultimate hight even at the moment but what you do with it matters.

6967  Economy / Gambling / Re: Show Your Victory on: January 31, 2022, 06:13:43 PM
One of the things most people failed to understand is the fact that gambling has its public perception which the society mostly don't celebrate, so most gambler when there is a big winning will rather be on a low key with the rewards in other not to attract public attention.
And on the other hand, some others will show their winning to the whole public by buying assets such as real estate and cars and can publicly show it off.

6969  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The possibility of cryptocurrency regulation in the metaverse on: January 31, 2022, 02:15:02 PM
The metaverse is the universe of virtual reality.it is like a 3d virtual world where all human beings connect and live most crypto regulations in various sectors have been done.
Stricter regulations on personal data, financial data can be pulled out from digital world, which only goes to show how much coverage blockchain tech has gotten around the globe. So when crypto market is booming why is it that only a few countries have adopted crypto, it is because they do not know what it really is, there are many countries who have banned crypto, but those bans don't hold water.
In reality, no country can ban decentralized cryptocurrency as it has strong security that can not be changed, and metaverse will indeed promote more privacy as it is built solely for virtual existence and alias can be used to operate in the metaverse but then since metaverse is a new development, countries that have adopted cryptocurrency such as El Salvador can easily create a centralized regulated meta-project too.
6970  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Company on: January 31, 2022, 06:16:50 AM
Hello bitcointalknairs please I will like to get clarifications on something, I received an email from trading brokers that I can lunge my funds with them and they execute trades on my behalf but I am afraid of the legitimacy of such services because most of them always turn out to be scammers.
What is your experience with trading brokers?
No. No matter if they are legitimate or not never let someone touch your money and do the trading on your behalf but based on what you have said I really think that they are not legitimate asking their users to do the trading on your behalf for me it looks like it is a scam attempt but not matter if it is legitimate or not never entrust your money to others they can easily ruin your money.
I think its okay if to lend money as long as the site is known to be trusted because there are now services like staking, lending and similar where you can earn passively but in return your going to transfer your funds on them.

In the case of op, it looks like he is contact randomly, the same thing happens to me where I get lots of direct messages on different social medias that I use. They are obviously a scam so do not ever try to get lured on what they are saying. If you want you can use sites which offer copy trade, this is a nice way to make profits from trading but it is a less risky way because you hold your funds with you.
The point is there are some legitimate stockbrokers out there and if you are lucky to get a good stockbroker all your trading and financial investments are safe and will yield a good profit in the long run, but again in choosing the one to trust one needs to do due diligence to avoid scam because the number of scam stockbroker is high.
6971  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion Thread || Current discussion: AFCON - Quarter Finals. on: January 30, 2022, 06:50:31 PM
Screenshot source: https://www.livescore.com/en/football/africa-cup-of-nations/quarter-final/egypt-vs-morocco/528258/

Today's match ended unexpectedly with Morocco making the 1st score but at the end of the full time lose the match by 2:1 just one Egyptian player made the difference in the match, I guess this tournament is going to end in a way that will leave every speculator of the guide.
6972  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion Thread || Current discussion: AFCON - Quarter Finals. on: January 30, 2022, 03:10:51 PM
Today I'm betting on Egypt hopefully make it up for tunisia loss. The last game of Egypt against ivory coast the team showed that they are really dangerous on making individual threat especially Mohamed Salah. Morroco also has a big chance of winning but we didn't see their team against a strong team from the beginning of this competition. Egypt has about 3.7 odd so it gonna be a good profit if they did it today
I guess you would have a rethink on betting Egypt to win Morocco, as Morocco is in an early lead with a 1 goal which, this match is going to be a tough one as both teams are prepared to win in high spirit, bit hope Egypt will not give Morocco the chance to play defensive football just to protect they goal till the 90 minutes.
6973  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First Bitcoin City on: January 30, 2022, 05:21:30 AM
it can't be denied that the first bitcoin city was el salvador, because el salvador dared to take the first step to adopt bitcoin, and make bitcoin a legal payment, even though there was a lot of criticism from other countries but el salvador didn't care and nayeb bukele still made bitcoin a currency legal money, although now there are many accusations that the El Salvador economy is destroyed because of adopting bitcoin, but Nayeb bukele still makes bitcoin a legal currency.
They did not listen to the warnings of other countries about the potential risk that they might get on adopting bitcoin and now they are facing their consequences. Their country is now said to be on a huge debt because btc price plunges too much. Is this the end of El Salvador? Will El Salvdaor sell at a loss and permanently quit on adopting bitcoin? No, I do not think so, El Salvador have done some bitcoin projects before and they are planning to do more when things get settled.

I think this is what they say that bitcoin can destroy someone's economy, no wonder why no countries other than El Salvador made bitcoin as a legal tender because they are scared of what it can do to them.

There are indeed many rumors that say El Salvador has a huge debt due to the falling Bitcoin price, and there is a possibility that El Salvador
will stop adopting Bitcoin. But I think it's just a rumor spread by other countries that really don't like El Salvador's decision, which El Salvador
legalized Bitcoin as a legal tender. After all, Nayib Bukele as president of El Salvador must have had a backup plan in case the Bitcoin price fell,
no way Nayib Bukele with a background as one of the successful young entrepreneurs in El Salvador, make reckless decisions. I believe El Salvador
can prove to the world that they decided to adopt Bitcoin is right and can make other countries that are afraid to adopt Bitcoin can change their minds.
This rumor is so not true, how can El Salvador be in debt because of Bitcoin market fluctuation when there are not trading bitcoin but buying for long-term purposes and you can only lose when you sell Bitcoin below the purchased price.
The last I hard was the president's readiness to buy more if the dip continues, El Salvador is not using only Bitcoin as its currency the primary currency remains the dollar and the GDP is still in the dollar and not Bitcoin.
6974  Economy / Gambling / Re: Blackjack.fun | 0.28% House edge | Live tables | Baccarat |Slots| InstantWithraw on: January 29, 2022, 08:13:49 PM
Oops this means we will add a new code in our signature  Smiley VIP Level is another way to attract players they will choose which one is more profitable
Especially if we have a weekly/monthly rakeback program it means we are ready to compete hopefully we see it in the near future or at least next month
Yes and is better with some promotion.

Why is better? because most off promotion deposits have something people really hate, is because stupid wagering with more than x30-x40. VIP Level Reward, Rakeback, Race Contest, Gambling Contest is better rather than promotion.

Hoping we have a good VIP Level on BJ Fun.

Actually you can peek at it now it's just not activated https://blackjack.fun/vip  from what I see VIP here requires more wager at least 1 BTC to reach the first VIP
But this is not final there may still be updated before it is actually activated may the little player also enjoy it not only for whales Cheesy
The desire to reach the VIP level may be delayed for some of the small bag holders as the wagering amount is the tier to 1btc but then I know the blackjack fun team always listen to feedback and always take actions that will serve the interest of their player and as a new gambling site reducing the VIP level wagering amount will help to attract more players to the site.
6975  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If football is Legal in most countries why is Gambling Prohibited on: January 29, 2022, 01:37:12 PM
OP better lock this thread because he is out of reason
I think you guys misunderstood the purpose of this thread which is for discussion purposes, am not trying to make a judgement on the subject matter of trying to prove a point rather am pointing out the abnormality in the system.
Football is a widely celebrated sports game that requires the physical involvement of the players but the other aspect is winning 🏅 and this is subject to so many rules just like gambling games within the same environment I will always say there is only a tin line between football & gambling.
6976  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: True Value of BTC on: January 29, 2022, 05:58:17 AM
Hi,

What is the true value of BTC? If we take aside supply/demand and focus on the amount it costs to produce 1 BTC in terms of mining costs, what is that value and how do we calculate that?

Thanks
No asset will have value if there is no demand and supply, there won't be a need for bitcoin mining activities if the demand and supply are taken away because the will be zero transaction for the miners to confirm which automatically result in zero block reward for the miners so ultimately that can never happen.

I'm a little confused, does the post counting changed or will we still follow the Thursday as the end of the week for posting because I checked the spreadsheet and it doesn't have the record yet for Round 29 so I am a little bit confused in all of this. Hope that the manager can answer this.
  • The weekly payment will be sent to your blackjack.fun wallet every Sunday/Monday(weekly period Sunday to Saturday).

This is the latest information on weekly post counts and it's on the first page. Always read the announcement page of any campaign and follow up with your manager to avoid mistakes[/list]
6978  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If football is Legal in most countries why is Gambling Prohibited on: January 28, 2022, 01:20:56 PM
That just sets the boundary and difference of it.

It's entirely different and we're just used to the type of gambling with sports and we always see bookmakers and that's probably why when it comes to sports, the first thing that comes to our minds is all about gambling.

Because for a long time, it's always associated with it but not just because there's a sport, it's always connected to it, it's not like that.
This is the more reason we try to differentiate between gambling and sports games and try to find a partway between the two, it's either gambling is detached from sport or there should be no featuring of physical sports games on bookmakers. I take my country for instance gambling is prohibited by law but again football betting is allowed and is even advertised on national television stations.
6979  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If football is Legal in most countries why is Gambling Prohibited on: January 28, 2022, 09:00:39 AM
But what baffles me is football is the highest gambling around the world but yet it is seen as legal meanwhile gambling is illegal in some of those countries and I can't stop to wonder what an irony this has become.
If you think of football as gambling then all sports will also be considered gambling and all athletes are gamblers  Wink.
Football is sports and not gambling but a competition to grab trophy and get prizes, and if you still say football as gambling then no football athlete becomes addicted by continuing to play and lose a lot of things due to playing football, whereas gambling can be addictive.
I mean you have to consider many factors before equating activities with other activities.
I think you guys are getting it all wrong when I said gambling encompasses all the components of the game both the players and the fans benefit from the dividends of all, why are they playing for the price which the team to win is uncertain unless in the case of match-fixing but on the other way round the outcome is not known for both the player and the fans who have placed a bet on the games.
6980  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If football is Legal in most countries why is Gambling Prohibited on: January 27, 2022, 09:15:37 PM
it's all gambling because the teams are playing for the price.
So can we say, a group singing contest (choir/orchestra) a gambling too since these people are singing for the price? So do a dance competition? Come on! You're out of context I think and the way you see it is somehow wrong. Take it as a competition on talent and skills and not just it's always plain gambling insight.

Well, those tests of talent and skills in the subject of competition, football is also a gamble in its entirety, as the team competes for the ultimate price in the game and also fans can bet on those football matches these bets make the most of the revenue the football bodies make.
I clearly understood your point on this but for the sake of comparison that is why I open this thread for discussion.
