Great to see the pajeets haven't given up.. go away from meta for a few days and it's just the same as before.
Maybe we should set up some hotkeys /shitpost / use search /pajeet begging
I've got a great solution - I use the ignore feature. If I put you on ignore, then I won't be able to award you with any sMerits. Currently my ignore triggers are - - Posting a whole reply in a non-english language on an english board. - Including over-sized embedded graphics - Begging for merit - Posting garbled random english words - Large blocks of text with no paragraph breaks - Oversized or coloured text, and formatting to expand the length of your post. These are purely personal criteria, and I have adopted them to enable me to scan threads quickly.

The author of the I AM HODLING thread was last active on January 27, 2018. Sooo, GameKyuubi is still active. So he is - he made 11 posts in the last year - welcome back to him. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

When they're giving their merit to bounty managers, bounty managers are totally not goin' to spend that merit anywhere. They're just creating a bounty thread and sometimes answering the letters. That's a dead end for merit been spent there but not to "like" a really ironic or helpful post.
Of course the bounty managers will spend their sMerits. They go to alts, and their favourite spammers so that they can create bigger signatures.

Err. Play games with bitcoin? The only thing that comes to mind is gambling. Which is something I really don't recommend doing but hey, it's your money. ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) Probably through gambling sites like https://betcoin.ag and https://nitrogensports.euIt's not for gambling. It's for selling virtual assets like weapons and ammunition. It's become a pretty large industry. I remember that one gamer sold his house to buy a virtual island in one game, and I think he did well out of it.

I don't run a merit soup kitchen I'm afraid, so I don't look at posts by request, sorry.

A Newbie making a helpful contribution, that's exactly what the Merit system is supposed to reward. +1 from me too. Your own post on the other hand is completely off-topic and irrelevant. Why do you say that? My post served two purposes. It bumped the thread, and the new user received a better welcome instead of being ignored. Also, it was a justification, and I hope I encouraged new members to make similar posts.

Recently, I bought the domain name BitcoinWax.com because OPSkins has introduced a new token called WAX ( Worldwide Asset Exchange). It looks as if this could become a major payment system. I'm not a gamer, so I would be interested in hearing any comments about it. I'm not recommending it, and I only know about it because I purchased the domain name. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

I also would probably suggest that this shop shouldn't take merit, but maybe it could take sMerit. This way people would not have to decide between de-ranking, signature features or keeping their progress. This way people would be encouraged to earn sMerit, instead of spending the merit they were given from the start. If people could simply spend their merit, too many people would be able to purchase from the shop undeservedly simply because they started out with 500 Merit. If we restrict it to sMerit, they would only be able to purchase from the shop with what they've earned (aside from the small amount of sMerit we got to start). We would probably need to set something special up for the Merit sources if we were to do something like this, for example they cannot use their Source merit to purchase from the shop, only the sMerit they have earned the same as everyone else.
I think sMerit should be left as it is (apart from a reduction the maximum award). It is a good way for posters to gain an idea of peer opinion. It was the merit that I was suggesting should be exchanged. I started with 500,which is the basic requirement for a Hero. If I exchanged part of that, then I should be demoted. My suggestion was to give the extra merits some value to members earning them. With regards to campaign banners. They shouldn't be available through the shop, inclusion could give the impression that the board approves of the campaign.

We've turned Meta round, now it is At'em. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

This is a nice idea, but I'm not entirely sure on the implementation of it. Would you have to buy a particular "button", or would you be spending Merit to enable PHP code in your signature? I would like to hear more about the specifics of that.
I don't think php would be a good idea. I've got 582 merit points at the moment, and I need 500 to stay as a Hero. That gives me 82 "spare" points. A Legendary upgrade gives me a nice title, but it doesn't give me any other advantages, so the only incentive that merits give to me is for me to gain feedback on my posting. If I could buy the right to include a small button in my sig that was hosted by me, then that would allow me to promote some services such as domain name registrations that may be of interest to other members. I'm not talking about trading merits here, only the possibility of spending them in one place - a BitcoinTalk shop.

I hope we can encourage Rusty Bits to remain a member, and to continue reading and posting. I see he revisted the forum yesterday, so hopefully he will stay with us.

Anyone asking or begging another user/merit source for meriting their posts is tagworthy. I suggest you start keeping notes on who these people are and/or report that to Lauda for their opinion on this.
AFAIK asking for merit is looked down upon.
They aren't asking directly for merit. They ask me to review their posts, and I'm ambivalent about this. How can you tell if a persion is trying to get merits, or if it is a genuine request for advice about posting? For example - How do you interpret my post about my awarding sMerit. It was intended to give me some guidelines about the general forum attitude to their use, but some may misunderstand my motives. The attitude to merit awards seems to be pretty mixed. I'll probably go my own way, but I can be influenced by good logic. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

I'm starting to get PMs asking me to evaluate posts. I don't respond or look at the posts, and I am considering adding them to by merit beggars gallery.

That would be quite difficult, just look at the LoL and dota 2 communities.
The hostility comes from the frustrations of being swamped by an influx of economic migrants who don't contribute, but just demand the right to "free" money. We have the same problem in Britain, it led to Brexit, and the current unrest comes from the unwillingness of governing bodies to address the core issues. I hope that Bitcoin Talk will learn from the experience of the collapsing EU as a result of ignoring the signals.

Well it isn't this one with its oversized coloured text.

Miners selling coins to cover costs could affect the price of Bitcoin. Mining costs could influence the transaction fees more than the price of Bitcoin imho.

As he is one of the globalist elite, and they seem to be acquiring Bitcoin to remove the available coins from the market, this would seem to be another price manipulation ploy. I expect he has sold his personal holding, but is increasing his holdings in off-shore investment vehicles. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

I hope it's going to drop again soon. I'm waiting to withdraw Bitcoin from my domain sales account, but it'll take another couple of days to clear. I'm saving Bitcoin, so a rise just means that I get fewer coins.

Merits are like cats. If you chase after them, they will run away and hide from you. If you ignore them, then they will come to you and accept you as a friend.
Don't chase merits here. Chase information, and help others by sharing your knowledge.

There have been some mixed comments about my philosophy in awarding sMerit points. I'd be grateful if a couple of members could have a quick scan of my awards, and let me know if I am on the right lines. It isn't easy for me to find posts, and I only award one point at a time. It seems that some members think that this approach is merit hoarding, I think it is responsible use of the new system. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=698159
