6961  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Is it true that Craig Wright is the real Satoshi as he claims?" on: May 26, 2019, 06:56:43 AM
Despite his technological knowledge and involvement in the cryptocurrency, I don't think that Craig S Wright is the real Satoshi. Time and again, he has proven himself to be a greedy individual who doesn't care about the global adoption and acceptability of the cryptocurrency. But it is quite possible that he has something to do with the original Satoshi. There is a chance that he knows the real identity of Satoshi Nakamoto.
6962  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 61-year Old Chinese Grandma Convicted For Stealing Electricity To Mine Bitcoin on: May 26, 2019, 06:54:19 AM
I get surprised of a 61 year grandma knowing about mining and running a rig. It is truly unbelievable, because in my country even the younger generation doesn't have any idea about bitcoin. This describes the growth of bitcoin within China as a trading asset as well in mining. These might also be the reason for China government to come up with plans to stop mining process within the country.

There is also a possibility that grandma just took the "crime" so that the sentence can be less if the real culprit can be sentenced. Anyway, this highlights that in China people are still interested to do business related to bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general but sadly the government had already closed this avenue for them by banning bitcoin in 2017 and likewise with mining this year. The Chinese government is using the concern on power consumption as the reason why bitcoin mining has to stop....whether people like it or not.

Well... this is a probability. A 61-year old female doesn't fit with our description of the typical Bitcoin user. And I never though about it. It looks like some of her relatives were stealing electricity for Bitcoin mining and when it was caught she came forward and admitted the crime. The charges are not going to last and most likely she will be acquitted.

With the return of Warner and Smith, Australia looks like the strongest team in the world cup. I won't be too surprised, if the final is between Australia and New Zealand (just like the case in 2015). NZ also looks to be in fine form, and they have performed well in England. Trent Boult is going to play a major role for them and the conditions suit him perfectly.
6964  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 Cricket World Cup - Discussion & Analysis on: May 26, 2019, 06:45:10 AM
On the other hand, poor batting by Indian batsmen today. Kohli, Dhoni, they all failed. But never forget, these are only the warm-up matches and they don't matter much. Let's see what happens once the real battles begin!

Well. Let's see. Teams from the subcontinent should have arrived in England at least two weeks prior to the tournament and played a few warm up matches during this duration. But the Indians took it very lightly. It will be difficult to adjust to the conditions, after playing in India for two months continuously for the IPL. Anyway, one more warm up match (vs Bangladesh) is remaining, and lets see how they perform.
6965  Economy / Economics / Re: Price of goods goes up, salary never goes up!!! on: May 25, 2019, 05:32:15 PM
This is really crazy. I can't believe that your salary has remained constant for 30 years. Here in India, the agricultural laborers used to get around INR 5 three decades pack as the salary. This has increased to around INR 200 as of now. Obviously the inflation has also increased during this time, but if you look at the purchasing power, it is also showing an increase.
6966  Economy / Economics / Re: bitcoin transactions costs in the future on: May 25, 2019, 05:23:10 PM
Right now, it costs around $3 to send Bitcoins. But as the number of users increase, this can also go up. If you remember, during the peak of the bitcoin bull run in 2017, we had fee ranging from $30 to $50 for a single transaction. The mining pools were making a killing back then. But the strategy backfired, as the users shifted to ETH, LTC and BCH.
6967  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 Cricket World Cup - Discussion & Analysis on: May 25, 2019, 05:15:29 PM
How poor performance from Indian batsman. Pathetic. I thought a minimum of 280 runs. Boult and Nesham done pretty good. Newzealand have lost 2 wickets after 10 overs.
India's world cup warm up is a bit worst. I hope they will turn into WC.

The last time they had a world cup in England was way back in 1999. And back then, a left arm pacer from New Zealand (Geoff Allott) was the top wicket taker during the tournament. And I am seeing a lot of similarities between Trent Boult and Geoff Allott. Even today, Boult got 4 wickets and his swing and seam movement destroyed the Indian innings.
6968  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much did you make from gambling in 2018! on: May 25, 2019, 05:12:15 PM
I am more of a recreational gambler and most of the time, I make very small bets like BTC0.001 or BTCBTC0.002. Only rarely do I go above the BTC0.010 mark. And 2018 was a bad year for me. I lost the majority of my sports bets and 2019 was even worse. I lost quite a bit during the IPL season. In the initial phase of IPL, I lost a lot of my bets.
6969  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: May 25, 2019, 05:10:02 PM
I can not believe the Indians performance as a Indian Supporter against New Zealand. Only 179 runs (39.2) All wicket where India played with their most strong team. Really its so  downfall by India. And This is the fantastic performance by the New Zealand Balling

I have been saying this for quite sometime. Historically, the Indian batsmen have fared poorly in England. And I don't think that this time it is going to be any different. The only batsman who is not going to get affected is Virat Kohli. But as we have seen in the past, Kohli will be helpless if the other players don't offer him any support in building the innings.
6970  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao Sign Up with Rizin Fighting Federation on: May 25, 2019, 05:07:36 PM
Maybe your right but Floyd doesn't really have anyone left to fight and the way he is blowing through money he may some really big payouts before he is too old to continue boxing.

Floyd is already 42 years old and at the most he has 2-3 years left. And during this time, we can expect at the most 5 fights from him. The problem is that the welterweight class is looking very thin and there are a limited number of individuals who can offer good competition to Floyd. His fight against McGregor paid him around $300 million and another 5 fights can get him well above $1 billion.
6971  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: May 24, 2019, 06:32:17 PM
It could have been an easy victory for the Afghanistan team, but they were made to struggle by the Pakistanis. This is why I get frustrated with these lower ranked sides (Afghanistan, Ireland.etc). They show a lot of enthusiasm in the field and put in a lot of hard work. But their finishing is horrible. Ireland can be classified as the choker team, but Afghanistan would come close.
6972  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone who use mobile wallets? on: May 24, 2019, 06:26:47 PM
First installed a mobile wallet in 2017, when I got interested in crypto-currency for the first time. But I found using online wallets and desktop wallets easier than the mobile wallets. Because here in India there are very few shops which would accept Bitcoin payments. So there is no advantage in having a few coins in your mobile wallet.
6973  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 2019 Indian general election on: May 24, 2019, 06:23:42 PM
When they have EVM then they will do these again and again on the upcoming elcetions.
May be you are frustrated by outcome but stop blaming the Election Commission. EC is not at all politically inclined and motivated.
Can't believe Smriti Irani won against Rahul too.
May be Rahul knows the outcome beforehand that's why he contested election from 2 seats.

Agreed with both the statements. Blaming the EVM without any evidence is like insulting the 900 million individuals who took part in this process. UPA had won a few state elections 3 months back. And back then, the EVMs were OK.

And the less talked about Rahul G, that better. He is beyond any hope and I seriously think that he is suffering from some sort of mental disease. He could have made NYAY or agrarian distress the main campaign issue. Instead of that 99% of the time he was barking "Chowkidar chor hai". The voters replied back that "Chowkidar chor nahin hai, tumhare baap chor hai".
6974  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do we need so many cryptocurrency exchanges? on: May 23, 2019, 04:52:14 PM
I think this is not bad.  Therefore, the more the competition in the market, the better for us.  The more exchanges there are, the better they will be for us.

Competition is good. But you need to remember that there is only a limited number of cryptocurrency users who are active right now, and therefore the total revenues that can be accumulated every year is limited. In case the number of exchanges increase beyond a certain point, then the revenues will fall to a threshold which is below the sustainable level.
6975  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 2019 Indian general election on: May 23, 2019, 04:45:19 PM
The results were as expected. The exit polls were showing somewhere between 300 and 320 seats for the NDA, but the ground situation was entirely different. In rural areas, it was very hard to find a single person who would support the UPA (I am a resident of Tripura), outside their core-support groups (Muslims / Christians). Free electricity, housing and LPG made the difference for this election.

As you can see, NDA swept the entire country with the exception of three states in the south. I don't know whether the UPA can ever recover from such a heavy defeat (their PM candidate was also defeated in Amethi).
6976  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: If you have to buy cryptocurrency for 10.000USD today.... on: May 22, 2019, 05:43:38 PM
Well, bitcoin is the best crypto and considering the current market it would be the best choice. On the other hand, i really don't have much idea about Iota.
Bitcoin is always an option in crypto investment. but, I might share the money for 4 crypto, bitcoin, eth, xrp, and bch. well, the coin is a very good coin, and stable enough to be stored in the long run. besides, bch coins are also good for short-term investments.

BCH is a very promising coins, but you need to remember that it was weakened a lot after BSV forked out. And today, BCH has gone down by 3% after BSV almost doubled its exchange rate. The exchange rates for BTC-BCH-BSV are showing a strong correlation. The decline of one of them is good news for the others and similarly if one of them goes up, then the other two will suffer.
6977  Economy / Speculation / Re: what will happen if BTC hit 1.000.000$ on: May 22, 2019, 05:36:59 PM
When bitcoin get to one million dollars in the future then we can boldly say that it has attained it mainstream position and the government will then see the need to adopt bitcoin and a secondary currency in their territory. With lots of users having confidence in the bitcoin network.

In case that happens, then the total BTC market cap will be somewhere around $20 trillion. And now compare this to the total worth of all the banknotes and coins circulating in the world, which is only a fraction of this amount. I am not sure whether the governments will be at ease with such a scenario. I am talking about countries such as China, where the national currency is heavily manipulated.
6978  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-15] Crytopia Opts for Liquidation Binance for Upgrade on: May 22, 2019, 05:19:03 PM
Cryptopia was not very comfortable with trading and holding Ethereum in its platform. That's why Ether was once delisted from Cryptopia. They always claimed that ETH was very vulnerable to hacking and Cryptopia didn't wanted to hold ETH or tokens from the users. But Cryptopia had to list that coin again as the customers demanded it and petitioned for its inclusion. And in the end, ETH relisting resulted in the complete liquidation of the exchange.

Do you have the link that supports what you say? Who said that would not want to list ETH? One of the owners? Or is it just a guess?

I find this claim quite curious. I do not think it could be true, I believe that all the exchanges in the list of the 100 largest have ETH. This is not a problem of the coin, but of failure in the security of the company.

I read the thread here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/4ot7zq/cryptopia_delisting_eth/
https://twitter.com/cryptopia_nz/status/744344840515649536?lang=en

I can't vouch for the veracity of the claims being made on that thread. The detailed discussion was going on in the Cryptopia forum, but that forum thread can't be accessed now.
6979  Economy / Economics / Re: On stablecoins on: May 22, 2019, 05:12:59 PM
Stablecoins are the ones whose value remains stable, hence the name(which is one of the benefits of a stable coin), and that is pegged to the value of an underlying asset.
The best stable coins to look forward in 2019 is
Tether (USDT)
TrueUSD (TUSD)
MakerDAO (DAI)

Out of the three you had listed, TUSD is clearly my favorite. They had recently conducted an external audit, which showed that the coin is 100% backed up with cash or cash equivalents. And very soon, we will be able to check the TUSD reserves in real time.

On the other hand, USDT is only 74% backed up with cash (although the promoters are claiming that this is a temporary issue and very soon they will be having full backup. DAI is also facing issues in securing 100% backup. They are even considering to increase the stability fee, so that the deficit will be covered.
6980  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling with altcoins on: May 22, 2019, 05:08:04 PM
Offering more altcoins will for sure enlarge userbase of crypto casino. I agree that bitcoin still dominates in crypto gambling but situation may change in the nearest future.

Once the Bitcoin transaction fee goes up, deposits in altcoin will become more and more attractive for the gamblers. But then, the gambling sites need to tweak their websites and create all the hot-wallets, which is going to take a lot of time and effort, on top of additional expenses. The casino has to decide whether this additional effort is worth it or not.
